[Q] Is there a prefered good chainese tablet ? - General Questions and Answers

Hi, first .Please forgive my poor english. I will do my best to explain my problem.
In my long searches on the net for a good decent price chinese tablet to use on my laptop side, I noticed that there is always something missing : If the ram is enough than it can not adress more than 16GB or 32GB, if it can, than there is no GPS, if there is, than the camera is crap and if it has more than three of the above it can cost a fortune. and I can go on for ever.
I am looking for good tablet that can act as a laptop Substitute\fill in, that has : 2GB ram preferably more on the 3GB or 4GB direction, can adress at least 64GB or 128GB memory card, and\or an external hard drive, 9.7 -10.5 inch screen size, all the usual input out ports : USB 3, hdmi, ext, BT ,wifi, 3g, if there can be dual boot OK, quad or octa core cpu, can be software upgradable (yes, this is an issue with some devices).
didnt find anything that came even close. and I am willing to spend around $480
Perhaps I daemand to much, and there is no device that can do most of what I want ?
I would very much appreciate any answer that can direct my in the right direction.
Thank you.
Y.

General questions about G Tablet and other device

I am looking to purchase a G Tablet to use for work to capture signatures on a pdf etc... However I was also looking at the http://www.amazon.com/Superpad-Tabl...XDEQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1300477511&sr=8-2
as I could use this as a way to program Cisco routers in the field plus do some testing on the network.
So I guess my question is which one is better.
Of course I know both will need some new ROM's and some other software added to them and whatnot. But The second one seems to me that its a bit nicer that it has a RJ45 connection on it. The reviews are pretty good for the G Tablet though. So I am not sure what to do. If it is possible to add a USB to RJ45 dongle for the G Tablet I am for sure down for that too.
So I guess what I am hoping for is that someone here has had both or knows enough about both that they can give me some input as to what would be my better choice.
Thanks,
Nathan

Be wary when you are dealing with a product that has an unnamed producer and the specs don't even tell you what kind of processor it has. Usually, these devices were pumped out super cheap in a factory in china somewhere for them to make a quick buck or two.
The other thing is we have no idea what kind of users those reviewers for the superpad are. They could be dumbasses for all we know. With the gtab, at least we know real devs have been working with it and have given it their approval.
Go with the gtab, dude.

I couldn't have said it better....
thats what i was thinking... but the thing about the superpad i like is the fact of the built in RJ45 connection to be able to telnet in to cisco switches in the field.
edit:
just found this... seems like if this generic tablet has a micro usb to rj45 connection theres gotta be a way to get it to work

I just went through those reviews at the link you gave us. Sure, there's lots of 4-5 stars. But the reviews are not helpful at all. Single phrase reviews are useless when we're dealing with something like this.
I'd rather spend $350 on something I know that works and have lots of dev support.
I'm sorry, but I'm not very trusting of these so-called companies in China. I've known too many people who got scammed by them. Here's the thing. If something happens, what are you going to do? They're sitting all the way in China. How are you going to get them to honor their warranty or send you replacement?
Processor Type: ZT-180 not support android honeycomb 3.0. If it isn't important, a variant under the reference above the best.
But even in this case I would pay attention on archos 101
Slatedroid has an entire section devoted to the Superpad/Flytouch 2 .
Alot of information and reviews by people who actually own and use the tablet.
There is also a Small Business Section on their with a shop named BuyADroid. They carry the tablet and have supplied alot of members their with tablets, very reliable and shipping times aren't too bad either.
But if you want info on the superpad, slatedroid is the place to start looking.

[Q] Ultrabook or Laptop

I will be getting a new laptop In a few months primarily because mine is very outdated (4 yrs old running c2d) and it freezes occasionally but besides that I asked on another forum for laptop recommendations and someone suggested that I look at some Ultrabooks for their portability (I want a laptop that's not very heavy, less than 6lbs). I'll also need it for college, Im planning on going into animation, so I'll need it for that too.
Specs for the laptop that I'd want:
Lightweight:< 6lbs
13-15" screen
Budget: 1K-1.5K
1gb+ dedicated graphics card
Core i7 processor (multi-core)
6+ hrs battery life
The 2 things keeping me from getting an Ultrabook are the lack of a disk drive (minimal effect) and storage space as most SSD's are 256gb max. That being said what are some Laptop/Ultrabook recommendations based on my specs (The specs given are what I'm looking for, anything else is optional).

HP Folio us the best non-apple Ultrabook out there, impressive specs but the memory expansion on all of them is very limited so i would suggest a regular laptop/notebook with higher specs such as HP G-series very light with an optical drive. honestly i dont remember the lat time i used an optical drive for anything but thats just me.

It doesn't have an i7, but I was able to find a laptop with the things that was lightweight and had what I wanted. For some reason I tried to stay away from HP because I keep hearing negative things about their products.

Opinion on local tablet

I need your opinion on tablet hardware. it seems like a good deal so i just want to run by you pro's for a quickie
It's name is Vivax TPC-7150, and it's a dual core 1,5ghz, 1gb DDR3, 7" tablet.
it has a rockchip RK3066 A9 cpu and Mali-400MP gpu, 8gb storage, wi-fi, 1024x600 at 169ppi (at 5:3 ratio) (dont know exactly is it ips or regular tft matrix. one site says ips, another site says tft)
2 MP front camera, microusb, microSD and 3500mAh battery.
on local pc magazine test ("VIDI"), it scored like this:
Quadrant standard
Total 4036
CPU 7278
MEM 4237
I/O 6011
2D/3D 317/2337
Vellamo HTML5/Metal 1655/523
PassMark
System/CPU 1811/5626
Disk/Memory 1152/1427
2D/3D graphics 2989/767
It sells from 110€ and it's a product of a chinese factory and engineered by a croatian company
any opinion will be useful, but ofcourse i'll have to check it myself somewhere in the store first...
edit: sry, here's a link
There probably won‘t be any gurantee or warranty with it. If you can live with that then... it might be a risk worth taking.
I have seen chinese tablets before which have specs that are different than the one promised on the box.
It's decent. You might be able to do better for the same money, but I can't say with what off the top of my head. The 5:3 is kind of weird. You might be able to get away with the 8Gb since it has an external SD slot - but consider you'll have to spend another $20 on that - and you can't put all apps and such on it.
If it is legitimate and that will be actually what you are getting, of course.
why do you think i cant put apps on microsd card?
and sorry for my misexplaining. It's a local croatian company (Vivax) that has "developed" the tablet and has it produced in china (like many other companies do), so i think there shouldnt be any problems with warranty....
what about rooting and flashing different ROM? how can i tell which ROM i can use and what tool to root it with?
I only have my x8 so i'm not so familiar with other devices...
can you please help me only with an answer for rooting and flashing rom?
can i flash any rom that is programmed for similar characteristics tablet? and is there a unique tool for rooting or is it device specific?

No. It needs to be made for you exact device or you will brick it and turn it into an expensive paperweight that will not turn on again.
Not all apps can be moved to the SD card. There might be ways around it, but it can be hit or miss and I wouldn't count on it.

buying a chinese tablet help

ok so i dont really have much money and in here even chinese tablets are expensive and i really need a good tablet
anyway i went to some store and i found some good picks one is a dual core with 4gb of storage and 7inch screen but the store doesnt know how much ram it has ! anyway he let me try it and i played with it a little and it really seemed fast it should be more than 512 or 512mb ddr 3 is as fast as 1gb ddr2??

Hello, I'm selling tablet too~
can you please take a picture for the tablet?
But I dont think 512mb ddr3 fast as 1gb ddr 2, and I suggest you to buy a 3g tablet if the price not differ too much.
Most important, what you wan to use in this tablet? gaming? or just soical?
If can choose the one that can move app to external sd card, not internal sd card.
Can you please let me know the price of the tablet and where do you come from? thanks
Sry for my bad english

Does anyone know where to buy an ASUS FonePad 8 16GB ROM & 2GB RAM?

I'm a contract IT worker and I carry a lot of things around, so combining my tablet and phone into one would be great. I currently use another 8" Tab and an LG G2 (along with my laptop, and other cables and external adapters for hard drives, etc) but I'd obviously like to consolidate both to the FonePad 8. However, I'm having a very hard time trying to locate the variation that has 2GB of RAM and was wondering if someone knew of a store that sold them either in the U.S. or directly out of Taiwan. I see a lot of 8GB ROM 1GB RAM versions on ebay, but that's it. My wife has the Lenovo S8-50 2GB RAM with similar specs to the Fonepad 8 and it runs fantastically with the BayTrail Atom. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
