Nearby my house is a network extender, which has been breaking my phone whenever i get into my bedroom, always saying it's roaming. On advice from someone else with a similar issue, I was told to dial *228 to update my PRL(which is now #53397). While this ironically did fix the Network extender issue, it not prevents me from connecting to *ANY* Verizon 4G network. After realizing my mistake, I quickly tried to see if I could induce 4G, by disabling the CDMA modem. This turned out to somehow work, so the 4G Network connects just fine, and my SIM card isn't toast. It's just when under the 4G mode, I cannot connect to any 3G EvDo Rev. A network. The PRL that I know does work fine is #15287, but whose download I can't find anywhere. Is there any suggestions on how to fix this?
From what I remember, *228 fries 4G sim cards. Go to Verizon and get a new one.
4G defiently still works, it just chooses its 3G over it every time.

Get a new sim and you'll be fine. The long method is to Odin flash VRALF2 or VRALG1 stock image then reprovision your sim by dialing *2767*3855# while still on either ICS rom. This will wipe your internal storage in the process. This may not work, in which case you'll need to get a new sim card.

Ensure that 2G networks are not only selected - try *#*#4636#*#* and select ' phone' and go to the bottom - GSM/WCDMA Auto PRL or something like that should be selected.
Also, try *#2263# if you have the Rogers modem and change the band to automatic mode that way. You can't use this option with the AT&T modem.
Lastly, you are currently in an HSPA or standard UMTS zone with good coverage, correct? EDGE will display sometimes with a stronger 2G signal where 3G/HSPA are weak.

I am having the same issue on AT&T. After playing around with Infused 2.1, I reverted back to the stock UCKD5 baseband and build, and I cannot connect to HSPA/HSPA+ anywhere, even with excellent coverage. I confirmed all of the GSM/WCDMA auto (PRL) settings, but cannot get the phone to connect to anything other than EDGE. Any ideas?
Umm...
I would guess try the newer modems and see if they work. If they do not then do a full restore. Other then that i have no idea. Does anyone know if it is safe to be on the infused rom then flash a modem like the original onto it?
Flashed the original factory AT&T ROM using Odin (unrooted version)...phone works great but still no 3G/4G, and a very poor EDGE signal. I have an AT&T BlackBerry which has a booming 3G signal in the same area. The AT&T store installed what they claimed was a 4G SIM card when I purchased the phone. I wonder if the infuse needs to be "re-activated" to work with HSPA?

I have an idea!
Ok in the dialer do *data#. Then you will get a message. If you are above 2024 mb or somthing like that it will start to throttle speeds to edge.

That won't start until September or October.
Are you sure?
Are you sure? Because for me i went over for a little bit and my speeds became extremely slow. Anyway, back on topic, does anyone else have any ideas?
Fixed it...to get HSPA/HSPA+ back, I did a "software format" using the following dial code: (this will wipe your phone as soon as you type it!)
*2767*3855#
After it reset, the H+ icon appeared after a few seconds.

I am up over 4gb this month and not throttled fyi....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Lol Just to let you guys know I'm at over 13gb right now and haven't noticed any throttling.
As with many skyrocket users, there seems to be trouble connecting to the AT&T data network for an extended time. the 4g icon indicates its connected but won't send or receive data unless packet data is disconnected and re enabled. After some hours of research and calls to customer service, I've found what could be a potential fix.
By dialing the ussd code ( *#*#4636#*#*) a menu comes up and gives you the options of
phone information
battery information
Usage statistics
And wifi information.
Under the phone information menu, an option for data network preferences appears at the bottom of the screen. By changing third setting, the connection issues should be solved...
however...
I can't seem to get any of the selections to stay. meaning, are I select my preference and exit, when I return to the screen its at its original setting. I believe it may change and stay if I rout which I haven't due to my phone being an AT&T company phone so if any rooted skyrockets would like to volunteer and test out my theory, we would all be greatly appreciated.

You are basically disabling the LTE radio (network) but it is temporary (for testing purposes). I think using a non-LTE APN will do the same thing and you can change it back when you are ready. Someone that knows more can correct me if I am wrong.
I used that method originally however I ran into the same issues. I was using the CINGULAR.WAP apn.
If anyone knows of another apn that I can test I would appreciate it

OK so this is what worked for me
For apn name i put AT&T and for apn type I put just : Phone and left everything else blank and even input the mms setting found online for at&t and that's got me hspa data so far

yes you have to add the other APNs for this to work. If you only have the PTA APN, it will only lock onto LTE if in a LTE area.
Now if you are rooted and running a ROM where you can change the network within the normal options area, you have to set the APN first then change to H+. It may fail the first time but try it again and eventually it will downshift to H+.

i m have unlocked skyrocket, currently in india using a 3g/4g sim card. i went through the *#*#INFO#*#* menu and selected "WCDMA Preferred" then i turned radio OFF and ON back again. since then it is set to "WCDMA Preferred" only and i m unable to change it.. Is it because i have only 3g available in india..?? also will I be able to change to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE AUTO" when i come back to United States???
AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII SGT-I727 data issues fixed ...
I broke my old HTC Inspire. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-I727 off of the eBay as a replacement.
When I moved the SIM card over everything was fine, except I had no data, even though I have a valid data plan. I still had wireless at home, but my data plan did not work when out on the street.
I called AT&T, told them the issue, and that I suspected that it had something to do with "LTE". They made some internal changes, which sounded like they activated LTE service for me. Data plan now working perfectly.

I am in an area where there is the eCFSB gap problem. For those not aware this is basically where my area has lte but triband devices can't get it. So yesterday I was surprised that I was finally connected to lte. I thought it was finally fixed. Now my problem is I can connect to lte but I can't make phone calls. What happens is I'll try and make a call the lte will disappear like it's supposed to and it will say call sent. Then it will immediately say call failed and lte will reappear. If I turn lte off and back to 3g then phone calls work. I can receive calls just fine on lte I just can't make them. Anyone else with this problem? Thanks.

Could you provide more detail? Service provider, kernel, Rom, if your SIM card is an LTE one or from an older phone that didn't support lte.

Yeah I'm sorry I'm so used to just having a sprint only section. I'm on sprint. I got the phone from sprint so it already had the sim in it. Stock rom/kernel rooted.

I have the same issue, but only in some areas. I do not get any incoming calls when I am in LTE area, if I change it 3G i get the calls.
You are not alone. I'm on MetroPCS gsm which is basicly T-Mobile. Anyways, I forced my phone to stay on LTE only and I was not able to make or receive any calls whatsoever. Make sure your phone is on automatic mode and not force LTE on becuase that was the only way i was able to get the issue to occur was through force lte on. There's a few threads regarding this issue that might be a good read especially for sprint.

How in the heck can I get this phone to connect to LTE and stay connected? Sometimes it will connect then when I make a call it won't reconnect no matter what I try. They have sent me two different phones. Same problem. I have changed the Sim card also. Is there an app that will help that won't run the battery down real fast? They say the tower is fine but I think it isn't. When I do connect I get 20 down 9 up or so. Thanks to anyone who may help. And yes I've googled it. Lol

it could just be your local area. im in nyc, and on tmo, and am on lte 100% of the time. when you make phonecalls, it will switch from lte to 3G/H, as its supposed to, because the lte doesnt support voice. and while theres data flowing over your network, it wont switch back to lte until the data stops flowing. and no, no app will help you.
Are you using a custom ROM? If so check your APN sometimes it'll default to metro PCs LTE

during calls, it'll drop off LTE and go to 3G
after the call, it should go back to LTE (if your signal has no problems) ...
not sure if you are complaining about the no-LTE-reconnect-after-call problem or no-LTE-during-call problem

I'm speaking that when I'm in a LTE area that my phone won't connect at all. It will sometimes if I pull the Sim card and reinsert it. But tmobiles engineers say the tower is operating properly. Between myself and my son we have had 4 nexus 5's. Whenever I'm by the other tower in town with LTE phone works great. fallback to hspa and then reconnecting to lte works flawless when connected to the other tower. But they say there is no tower issue and sent me another phone.

I constantly get stuck in 3g and when I update the PRL, my signal will switch to LTE and work fine for a while. Is this common or do I have a defective phone? I went to the Samsung reps @ Best Buy and all he did was reinstall an update.

I would check which APN your phone goes to on the phone, Settings -> More Networks -> Mobile Networks -> click either Access Pint Names (to check which APN selected) or click Network Type (make sure automatic or CDMA/LTE, not just 3G).
Its set to CMDA/LTE and the APN is APN2 LTE (n.ispsn) internet. There are no other APNs.

There's no way to repair it. I've had this issue since I bought the S5 at launch. This is just how it is until the towers are completely upgraded. Calling Sprint gets you no where most of the time about this issue. They will say the phone is defective but you can find many many ppl having this issue.

I had to pay $1.99 for full access, but there is an option to only cycle when on 3g. It does it all in the background, and doesn't really drain the battery. My only complaint is that it stays active and cycling while on wi-fi in a non LTE area. I've only had that in one place in KC, but no wireless service works at that location.
On 4G LTE, PRL's update automatically each time they connect to a tower. I think only 3G and earlier did you have to manually update PRL's. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's right. So technically, just cycling through airplane mode would update your PRL
my S5 won't receive calls or text
My S5 won't receive calls or texts. I spent hours with Sprint on the line, they were sending updates, having me manually program it and nothing. They would call my cell and straight to VM. They would send text, and i wouldnt get them.
I'm having to send it back, I'm not sure I will get another S5. I'm thinking a phone should be able to receive/make actual calls.

You are probably in an area that is in the partial stages of a Spark Upgrade. If you disable LTE bands 41 and 26 but leave LTE band 25 enabled, you will have stable data.
