As you can see in the attached image there is a difference in the screens of the two motog's. Which one is considered normal and which one is defective? If they are both normal but from different vendors which is the preffered one?
thanks.

I did try that too...there is still a variation.
I have see YouTube reviews stating the difference aswell. Just wondering which one of the two is considered to be closer to normal according to you guys.
I get similar with left side screen on my phone

We have to Moto Gs in my house, exactly the same, one is yellowish and the other one looks blueish.
The yellowish was bought in december and the other in february.

Motorola uses mulitple vendors for the display panel . Its a result of that .My first moto was cool bluish with a hint of pink (actually looked good) . My second was very warm and the white balance was very off. Looked very dull and drab . Had to return it because of that. My current one is warm but better than the second one . I think for viewing videos and photos the warmer one is better and the bluish -cooler one is better for viewing apps . Unless the warm looking display looks too bad (like the one I had ) either one is fine . You get used to it .

I prefer the one on the right actually, feels more pleasing to the eye.
I'd choose one in the right.

I recently purchased a z1 compact and i gotta say the screen on the moto g is fantastic compared to it.
On the z1 compact its impossible to get a natural looking white colour . Its more yellow and overall im very happy with the crispness and saturation on the moto g screen.
Great price, great phone, great screen(no matter who made it).
I don't know if you can see but my screen actually look rusty red against light......when on...its a bid pink....like the one you showed on right.....looks pretty good to me though
Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk
the left one is way warmer than the right one, and it looks better to be honest
I feel its a little too warm, the white is actually yellow.
Both displays good look. Those may be due to different display manufacturers. You can check for pixels. ..

Hi All
I am looking to move from a HTC One X to a Moto G. My question in on the camera is it the same or better than my current HTC One X??

One X camera is better. Moto G camera is really slow and most pictures require a really steady hand. But I think it takes better low light pictures than the One X, like on the one X all low light pictures were very grainy/fuzzy so that's less out here. You'll definitely notice a bump in battery life though.
Since I did the exact move you're planning maybe a list of pros and cons of moving to moto g will help you
Pros:
Kitkat(and one more update hopefully)
Battery Life(I've got 4.5 hours of screen on time vs the 3 hours I was getting on my One X) This is the entire reason for me shift to the Moto G
Faster(?)
No random heating scenes(which wasn't really fixed on the One X)
Charges pretty quick
Cons:
Smaller Screen
Camera not as good
Prefer the slim dimensions of the One X
Camera is not good at moto g!

These photos look pretty good to me. I'm of the school that if you what the "best" photos, then use a camera. But for those quick, unplanned pics, your phone is always handy.
the camera on the Moto G is beyond awful
I forgot to mention, the speaker of Moto G is louder than the One X by a considerable amount.
@japoina92 those are some good pics mate. Never got a decent snap like that so far. Maybe my hands are too shaky

You have a thread just for posting moto G pictures in "Moto G Themes and Apps" section.
Just thought I'd throw this one in here for anyone put off by Moto G camera reviews. I have had my Moto G for some time now and it remains to be a solid, reliable phone. However, a recent sale for the Lumia 925 came up so I grabbed one as it's supposed to have a decent camera on it.
Well, having done some comparisons between the two, I can categorically confirm that 9 times out of 10 the Moto G produces more well rounded images than the Lumia. Granted, at low light, the G cannot compete, but under normal lighting conditions its actually slightly better, even when zoomed in. Text is no clearer on the 925 than it is on the G. I was really surprised by this and a little gutted I even bothered with the 925. If anyone is interested, I can upload some comparisons.

Actually, I was a bit too hasty to post in all honesty. I've just done some further comparisons, more accurately, taking into consideration the field of view of the 925 and by transferring the images actually off the two devices and comparing them side by side on the same screen. the edge has now tipped in favor of the 925, but not by a huge degree. The brighter of the two images is the moto one.

well,i'm not photograph genius ,i think l925 got more detail and a bit less noise, especially by zoom in,but not by far, moto g in your picture still take a great picture. i really surprise :good:
i have to agree though, moto g not the best camera out there but sometimes, under a certain condition,it will take a great photo :highfive:
Well guys sometimes in class I have to take pictures of sombdy's else notes or a pic of something on notice board...mostly printed stuff
It shudnt be high quality....just legible
You think moto g can handle that.?
Easily. It's a capable camera, no where near as bad as had been made out.

If you were asked to design your dream Pixel 2, would you want it with your current 16:9 ratio? Or a taller one? If so, in what size?
The bottom unused space should be smaller of the phone.

I'm thinking about switching from the pixel 2xl to this. I saw someone post a grey picture (OLED test) and it was horrible. The uniformity was the worse I've ever seen.
I think it's great. It's better than my old Moto g4 plus and that phone had an impressive screen as well although it was an LCD and not AMOLED. The colors are great and you won't really notice the pixels since it's 1080p and it will give a longer battery as well for that reason.

I just used Dead Pixel Test, and the uniformity is literally perfect with the Silk White edition. All colors were literally perfect.
The screen is great. It looks as good as the one on my S8+ that I just sold. You'll be extremely happy with the screen in the OP6.
I mean look at a solid grey picture and turn your brightness all the way down? Is it still "perfect" ?
Display is avarage.

I just used a website with the pixel test images, lowered the brightness to minimum - it's perfect, there's no change in brightness anywhere on the screen. It's perfectly uniform. Whoever posted that image got a lemon that he needs to exchange.
Are you satisfied?
Love the display coming from my s6 edge.

Perfect screen, compared to my wife S9+ which I would give 9.8/10, I will give the OP6 a solid 9.1/10
I used to have pixel 2 xl but oneplus looks better. I didn't like the pixel because of the blue shifting

Just Google grey test OLED and look for a solid grey image. Turn your brightness all the way down and see how uniformed it is
compare to my old nexus6, my new oneplus6 has significantly better Amoled screen, however it's way to narrow compare to nexus6 which missed a lot.
Also, oneplus6 screen is extremely better than my old nexus5 with that lcd garbage.
S9+ perhaps has a bit better screen than oneplus6 but it has retarded and highly inconvenient and highly uncomfortable curve which is huge deal breaker for me.

Do you want the screen to be bad or something? I googled your oled test business and used 2 different grey images from some posts that had uniformity problems from some other phones. There are zero for this screen. It looks perfectly uniform, nothing like the images for those problematic displays. This is a Silk White limited edition version of the phone. Even if there were problems with the screen in the past, they would definitely be gone for my batch of phones.

Calm down. I've seen pics on Reddit that were horrible. Like LCD bleed. I just didn't want to purchase if the display sucks like my pixel 2 XL. The p2xl was so bad
It's okay. Sadly I got used to the note 8 so it looks blah.
I'll have to play with a custom kernel and tweak the display.
Step up from 200 phone. Yes I can see pixels.

I have this problem since day 1. It looks like LCD bleeding but in an unnoticeable way. It has disturbed me while watching movies in a dark room with low brightness. Upper half of the screen seems like its too bright while the lower half seems too dark... But, no one will notice it with average brightness and lighted room..

Get a replacement, your display is defective.
EDIT: I just scrolled through Westworld Season 2 Episode 3 using VLC and adjusting brightness on the way. There were about 4 dark scenes, and I couldn't see any imperfections with my display. The uniformity was perfect.
Maybe some people got some crappy ass lemons when a factory QC worker was drunk. It ain't the case here.
Case closed for this phone.
Just chiming in to say that I'm LOVING this phone so far. The fit and finish is great. It looks really nice and the build quality is top notch. The screen is fantastic and i love the way it curves down slightly at the edges. Initially I was annoyed at a gesture navigation bug that would override your default launcher and replacing it with the stock launcher when swiping up to go home, but that was fixed in a software update. The battery life is Fking PHENOMINAL! I regularly get over 8 hours SOT. Like every single day. It's insane. The camera is pretty good, but night mode was REALLY lacking. Also, detail was a little soft. But I was able to download a version of Gcam 7.0 that works completely and with Night sight mode, this camera takes amazing pictures in low light situations.
My only complaint right now is that global dark mode isn't working totally. The settings menu is still bright white. I'm sure that will be fixed when they push Android 10 by the end of December as they have said. I am a little hesitant though. The Pie rom is SO GOOD with regard to battery life and everything else, that I'm honestly in no hurry to update to Android 10 as I don't want to chance getting inferior battery life or any new bugs it may introduce.
Lastly, and for comparison, I own the Galaxy S10+, OnePlus 7 Pro, and Pixel 3XL.
How is the shutter speed compared to the OP7 Pro? My OP7 Pro has random delays on the shutter, which has cost me quite a few pictures of my son, as he was moved right after I hit the button causing a good portion of my pictures come out quite blurred.

Shutter speed seems suprisingly ok. When I got the phone I was annoyed to find out it didn't have any kind of OIS. I was also concerned about picture quality, especially when zoomed in, as a result of the OIS. However, pictures come out looking pretty good despite the issue.

Hey, I was just wondering if there was a setting so that when I play PUBG and call of duty, but mostly call of duty, that it's not in full screen. I don't like the edge being cut off just to zoom in. Missing all that information on the sides is a huge disadvantage. Am I missing something?

Same with mobile legends. It's just zoom in to make full screen. I don't like it.
Outside Gameplay it looks normal, but in Game screen just zoomed in. View attachment 5122437View attachment 5122439

Yeah, I don't think that's right. You're missing information on the screen. I returned my fold because of an unrelated issue and waiting for a replacement. I may just cancel.
