[Q] Problem with flashing CyanogenMod 9.1 Beta 2 - General Questions and Answers

Hi !
I have flash CyanogenMod 9.1 beta 2 cooperve (galaxy ace s5830i). First I try it from CM 7.2 RC4 : flash kernel biels 4.0, reboot CWM after that mount data, system and install zip from SD card and reboot phone.
I try it from stock rom too - Download EXT4 tool, the Kernel and the Rom on device,
Flash on Samsung recovery Biels temp. CWM.
When you are on the Temp. CWM, flash the EXT4 Formatter tool, so whole system will be converted to EXT4. (Stock filesystem is RFS)
After the installation, flash my kernel you have downloaded before.
When the Kernel is installed, go, on the CWM, to advanced --> reboot recovery (this will reboot the device, and turn it on on the new CWM of kernel)
Wipe data, cache and dalvik
(IMPORTANT) Go to mounts and storage, and make sure system is mounted (will show unmounted), if it shows unmounted, click it twice, to make sure!
Go to install zip from SD Card, after that reboot phone.
In both cases i have got the same problem. In the first case rom boot up, but too many bugs, force closes...(It doesnt look like HW is fixed fully)
In second case, I got bootloop or rom boot up but it shows - setup wizard.it force closes on setup wizard.
What did i do wrong ???

Quick question about flashing CM9 on Galaxy S plus

Hey guys.
I want to flash the latest CM9 (beta5) on my unmodded factory Galaxy S plus.
This is my plan of attack:
1- Backup Sdcard on PC (pictures, music, videos, etc)
2- Clear Sdcard
3- With Odin, flash FeaModRecovery 1.2
4- Backup everything with CWM on Sdcard then copy backup to PC
5- Format phone and Sdcard (dalvik cache, /system, /data, /cache etc)
6- With Odin, install recovery-clockwork 6.0.1.5
7- Flash CM9 beta5
8- Flash gapps as said here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825260
9- Reboot phone and voila
I didn't knew anything about flashing my phone up until a couple of hours ago. I've been reading a lot on how it's done and this is what I came up with.
Is this ok??
edit: or do I have to install recovery clockwork 6.0.1.5 first and then start formatting everything?

[rom][cwm]kg2 deodexed and rooted[rom base]

Well, this is the fruits of my labor last night. Took the KG2 ODIN tarball and ran it through the dsixda rom kitchen.
Features that I have added(Haha, funny, huh?):
- Deodexed(Useable as a base for a custom rom)
- Rooted(Used Superuser like every other rooted rom)
- Updated busybox
That's about it...really. I don't need to add screenshots since everyone should know what stock looks like.
Only thing I need to really mention, is if you're using this on Orange CWM...CHECK CHECK CHECK your mounts.(In other words, make certain the mounts are correct)
Follow these instructions as per which CWM you're using. And if on the Voodoo(Red) CWM...disable voodoo or you WILL get a bootloop.
I'm not responsible if your phone is unrecoverable. You voluntarily flashed this yourself and are solely to blame if anything goes wrong. I did not hold a gun to your head and force you to download and flash this package, so don't expect me to replace your phone. Also, any bugs present aren't my fault. Blame Samsung. It is stock after all.
- Put zip file in your /sdcard
- Reboot into cwm recovery
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache Partition
(Optional but recommended to prevent any minor issues)-Wipe Dalvik Cache from advanced menu in CWM
*Now before you Flash, Only if you are on the orange CWM, (Not RED voodoo CWM from Bali) if on red CWM ignore the mounts/unmount part*
MAKE SURE YOUR MOUNTS LOOK LIKE THIS: (Go to mounts and storage from CWM recovery)
UNMOUNT CACHE
MOUNT DATA
MOUNT SDCARD
UNMOUNT SYSTEM - this is the ONLY mount you pay mind to, not Sdcard or anything else
- Now its safe to Flash the .zip
(AGAIN IGNORE UNLESS IF YOU ARE ON A RED VOODOO RECOVERY) after you flash, go back to mounts and storage and make sure your mounts look like this
UNMOUNT CACHE
MOUNT DATA
UNMOUNT SDCARD
UNMOUNT SYSTEM
(Optional but recommended)-Wipe Cache then Wipe Dalvik Cache from advanced menu in CWM before Rebooting.
(To First Time installers, System Needs to be set to Unmount, though it would really be mounted. If you do Not do this you will have a softbrick and will have to ODIN to stock and start all over ....) Once you have Flashed a Custom ROM or Bali 2.2 Kernel you dont have to worry about mounts
Irregardless of what the above says, it's best to worry about mounts anyways. And if it results in a bootloop after flashing this, boot into recovery(should give you the stock blue recovery[uses stock Kernel after all]) and clear all user data. It should boot right up after that.

Cool base.

I'll download this and maybe use it for my DangerZone rom. BTW, does flash work within the web browser?
ASDF.
Forgot to add the modified recovery file. So to anyone who uses this as a rom base or as a regular rom between 12/23/12 and whenever I update it...grab the /system/bin/recovery from any other custom rom and either adb push it to /system/bin or use a root file manager to paste it over the current on and reset the permissions to 775(I think)[Just check what it is before you use the second method]
And as far as I know, Flash should work. I haven't had any issues, personally.

First, reboot into recovery.
2) Wipedata/factory reset
3) Mount everything
4) Wipe everything except SD-Card
5) (If in CWM recovery, go in advanced and here Wipe Dalvik cache)
6) Install the ROM
7) Advanced - Fix permissions
If still not working, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389445 I wasn't able to boot any single ROM based on HTC Sense, but when I've tried this, it worked for me
Hope I helped
So i have to use cwm?
I have to format SD card?
I try 2nd method

No, you can choose But when you have CWM, the Dalvik chache option is in Andvanced. In TWRP recovery it's in the wipe option
You don't have to format SD-Card (Only if you want to have increased internal memory, then do a second partition (ext4) and then use the app mount2sd)
When you want to use the file in the link, follow the instructions in the guide from the link and then do the steps I mentioned
I dont have burned nand
I doing it and nothing. This is why i asking.
i have 2 partitions

[Q] HTC Explorer Booting Issue

I am having a HTC Explorer... I have unlocked the bootloader and have rooted my phone. I have CWM Recovery installed.. I treid installing custom ROM, but after installing once I reboot, it keeps showing the custom ROM's animated loading screen and never proceeds forward. I have tried 4 different custom ROM's and also tried to install Stock ROM but same happens.
During installation I don't get any sort of error. But once I reboot the phone it is stuck on the loading animation. I have already tried formatting data, clearing partition cache and clearing dalvik cache...
Can any one help regarding this issue.. ?
P.S: I don't have any backup..I know I should have backed up...but still...

Firstly specify which which roms you tried which recovery you are using.
Well to say..
If you are using sense based Roms.. Then ext partition is needed.. Which can be done in recovery- Advanced- Partition sd card..
Partitioning sd card will format your card so take a backup of it
If you are using sense based roms then use recovery which mounts ext Like TWRP or Philz or CWM Latest one..
If not a sense based rom:
1. Go to recovery
2. Wipe data/factory reset.
3. Wipe cache partition.
4. Advanced -> Wipe dalvich cache.
5. Mounts and storage -> format /boot, /cache, /system , /sd-ext(if present).
6. Dont format anything else.
7. Install zip -> flash the rom.
8. Reboot
If you are still facing problem PM me..

Strange Bootloop!

I install ResurrectionRemix M v5.7.2 and gapps 6.0 to my phone through TWRP. it was good. But later i decided to install AospExtended-v3.1 . I took the zip file into my USB Removable disk as my phone didn't have any external storage so that i could install it with the help of OTG cable!
I install AospExtended-v3.1 and gapps 7.1 successfully from TWRP recovery . when it is 'done' i tapped on 'Reboot to system'. I don't know why, my phone goes into bootloop though i installed various ROMS in this process but i wasn't face this problem before!
Anyway then i wiped all data and decided to go back to my previous ROM. I Installed ResurrectionRemix M v5.7.2 through TWRP. it was installed successfully and i thought now that looping problem will resolve, but after successful completion of installing ResurrectionRemix M v5.7.2 when i reboot to system there still the bootloop problem!
Then i though i should go back to my STOCK ROM. I download MIUI 6.7.5_5.0_global fastboot ROM and using miflash tool with proper ADB drivers installed i flash my phone. It was again completed successfully, then i thought this time the bootloop problem will resolve! But no! My phone still stuck into bootloop.
whatever installing process(TWRP/Fastboot) i followed, i am unable to solve this Strange bootloop issue! What should I do?
i am also facing this problem, wht i do i cant understand, pls anyone hlp me to take out from this situation
Try these.
1. Boot into twrp
2. Wipe System, Data, dalvik, cache ( Don't wipe system storage )
3. Connect USB disk
4. Copy desired ROM into internal storage using the file manager given in TWRP.
5. Flash ROM locating the zip in internal storage.
6. Wipe Cache/Dalvik.
Your phone should now boot successfully.
