Hey guys.
I want to flash the latest CM9 (beta5) on my unmodded factory Galaxy S plus.
This is my plan of attack:
1- Backup Sdcard on PC (pictures, music, videos, etc)
2- Clear Sdcard
3- With Odin, flash FeaModRecovery 1.2
4- Backup everything with CWM on Sdcard then copy backup to PC
5- Format phone and Sdcard (dalvik cache, /system, /data, /cache etc)
6- With Odin, install recovery-clockwork 6.0.1.5
7- Flash CM9 beta5
8- Flash gapps as said here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825260
9- Reboot phone and voila
I didn't knew anything about flashing my phone up until a couple of hours ago. I've been reading a lot on how it's done and this is what I came up with.
Is this ok??
edit: or do I have to install recovery clockwork 6.0.1.5 first and then start formatting everything?

Guys, whoever is on cwm4 and can't get past the android text after flashing any cm...follow these steps:
1. Download the rom and put it on your sd card
2. Reboot into cwm(4), and then wipe data, cache and dalvic cache (it is under "advanced")
3. Important: Mount /system and then Format /system (both are under"mounts and storage")
4. Flash the downloaded rom
5. Reboot (this will take time!)
Note: this is valid for cwm4, as people are facing problems with it...
you could even upgrade to cwm5, or use this workaround...
Do you also need to do this before flashing a new kernel via CWM? Or is this only needed when you flash a new rom? And another question: what is the fastest and most stable kernel for Gingerbread Galaxy S Plus Stock Rom? And if I do everything like the guide, is there no risk? Thanks in advance:
Do this every time before flashing a stock- or custom-rom!
Attention!
You will delete everything on your phone! Your phone will not even be able to boot! Only Clockworkmod and the Download-Mode will be left! (Your SIM-Card will be untouched)
Please make sure that you saved only your backups on another device before formatting your phone (like on your computer)
This is the best method for using the full experience of every custom rom! I recommend this method because in the past a lot of users had issues with custom roms. They had installed a lot of different custom roms before and they didn´t format their phone correctly before flashing the new rom. This caused a lot of problems
Enter in the Clockworkmod
Choose "advanced"
Choose "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Go back to the main-menu by pressing the back button
Choose “Mounts and storage”
Select all after all
Format /system
Format /cache
Format /data
(Format /emmc)
(Format /sdcard)
Formating "emmc" and "sdcard" is not a duty! You will need it if you installed a mod on your internal or in your external card
UltimAOSP
If you choose to use these, you are doing that on your own risk, and I can not be held responsible for any damage you made to your phone.
UltimAOSP is a port rom from H9001
INSTALL INSTRUCTION:
To flash a new ROM properly, you need a custom recovery (CWM for example)
1. Reboot to recovery.
2. Do a nandroid backup or backup in cwm.
3. mount USB Mass Storage and delete from sdcard these three directories:
.android_secure
Android
LOSTDIR4. Copy ROM zip or zips on sdcard
5. Eject mass storage from computer and then unmount in recovery
6. wipe all/factory reset or pre-flash wipe in recovery
7. wipe or erase dalvik cache
8. flash zip from sdcard, choose ROM zip, flash it and reboot.
That's all, this is the correct way to flash any new ROM in any phone thru recovery.

Hi there,
I am having Lenovo a6000. I rooted it via King root. Few days back i installed chainfire3d on it. it asked for reboot so i just click yes. . now after reboot my phone went in boot loop. i have twrp recovery installed so i wipe dalvik, cache and system. Also i did factory reset. so i don't have root access and also i don't have my backup of android. So what should i do? I think installing stock ROM will do but is there any other way out of it?

Okay. If you have working TWRP installed the chances of fixing your phone are 98%.
Your system parition is invalid or corrupted. The only way is intalling stock rom and Gapps if you don't have a backup. If you have a backup just restore it.
Here are the steps:
1. Download these files on your computer:
https://userscloud.com/0mz53p05uoy1 - Micro Gapps
https://userscloud.com/vn2vevhp2vd0 - Stock rom
2. Put the files on your phone. Use an USB cable or a micro SD adapter for that.
If you need help with this just ask.
You can put them anywhere (SD card, internal memory), just remember where you put the files.
3. Enter your TWRP recovery.
Go to Wipe > Advenced Wipe
Now select Dalvik Cache, Cache, System and Data.
Swipe to wipe.
4. Go to main menu of recovery.
Select install.
Now find your Stock rom file and install it.
Select install again.
Now find the Gapps file and install that.
You are done. Set up your phone, install apps you need and then
make sure to make a NANDROID BACKUP!
Anyways you can bookmark this and use it to fix your phone any time.
Hey guys,
General custom Rom question. Each time I install any custom, following the directions 100% it will never install properly. No matter what when I reboot back into TWRP it doesn't mount data.
Here's some instructions for an example from the latest one I tried Havok.
What am I doing wrong?
How to install
+ if you are coming from OOS then you will need to wipe your data as well as internal storage due to encrypted data but if you had any custom ROM before then just wipe data. No need to wipe internal storage.
for updating
1: Flash ROM
2: Flash TWRP installer
3: reboot again to recovery to boot from second slot.
4: Flash Gapps
5: Flash magisk
6: wipe dalvik cache and reboot to system.
That's all.
use tool all in one to decrypt internal storage
