[Q] ACID Audio Engine doesn't work when flashed like this: - General Questions and Answers

(The version is called ACID Audio Engine 8.2 for all Galaxy Devices)
mount and wipe cache and dalvik cache (doesn't wiping cache wipe dalvik too?)
mount /system (and the rest just to be safe)
flash .zip
reboot
So what is wrong?
Why doesnt it work on Galaxy S2?
Ive seen to do this in instructions for other versions:
su
mount -o rw, /system
aaengine
BUT there isn't any file called aaengine on my device. Is this as intended?

Yes I removed DSP Manager and I don't think this is important since Audio mods should always work, not only in a music player but I tried with Apollo and Neutron Music Player (its ui is bad because it focuses on Audiophile music Quality instead.) and I got no noticeable improvement at all

Nope, You have to wipe the dalvik seperately.... so make sure you do it
The dev suggests that try it on clean install and once installed, reboot your phone after 5 minutes and then try it....
On their website, s2 is supported in specific mod for galaxy devices
I asked power amp cause it has direct volume on in settings which bypasses all other mods (i have experienced it on my s3)
My friend owns a s2 and acid works on his phone flawlessly. Here, try this aosp one....

Ok I will install as soon as I flash new rom. cba to start again with the same rom if i will change roms anyway.
why wipe the dalvik separately? Do you have some source to verify this?
Is it true that it only works on specific kernels/roms? (IM using latest Dorimanx 10 http://www.dorimanx.com/beta-test/ along with latest bamrom http://goo.im/devs/BAM/i9100 )

To prove you that dalvik is something else, wipe your cache and restart, it would be normal. When you will wipe dalvik, you'll see android is upgrading...... well google it and you'll find proper definition about it...
Go give it a try. ..
Yeah, roms and kernels can also cause this malfunctioning but you still have to try....

LeeDroid popped out after installing Inspired Ace?

Very strange issue.
After trying LeeDroid, I didn't like it, so went to recovery, deleted data/cache, and installed Inspired Ace (via recovery).
After booting up, the LeeDroid wallpaper showed up . . .
The system info still shows Inspired Ace. Why are there some LeeDroid files, despite my clearing data/cache?
*EDIT*
Now I'm having superuser issues, saying that my phone isn't rooted.
. . .?
*EDIT2*
Is it because LeeDroid is EXT4, and Inspired Ace is EXT3, and formatting to EXT4 screwed it up? Anyway to format back down to EXT3?
Go to recovery then select mounts and then format boot, data, system and catche. Just wiping data and catche sometimes doesn't do it.

Mounted and wiped it all as you suggested in recovery, and re-installed Inspired Ace from the .zip.
Now it's more like stock Inspired Ace, but I'm having force close issues (FC like 3 different things, every minute), and zero bars; no service.
What's going on...?
I'm now trying to re-download the .zip via ROM Manager, instead of my laptop...

^ That fixed the force close and the signal, but I still have LeeDroid wallpaper...
I never used that as my default wallpaper, so Google shouldn't have backed it up as one.

Well check the md5 and ensure the numbers match. A bad download, can result in this. Afv in market helps with this

[Q] Resurrection Remix ROM 2.0 + Siyah Kernel 3.2.7.2

Hello guys is it correct that I flash GS2Wiper 1.8 first from Siyah Kernel 3.2.6.4 then install Siyah Kernel 3.2.7.2? Or if not, is there any other way to flash it? I heard wiping cache and Dalvik cache has got nothing to do with the kernel itself. Is that true?

It was a known issue on RR2.2/2.3. Get the RR2.4 which have that fixed (But it have the "WIFI unable to connect to any wifi that have their SSID hidden" and some other bugs.)
If you insist of using 2.2 then you have to replace the camera.apk which you need to extract it from RR2.1 and force it into your System > app using Root Explorer (Make sure your have the r/w permission)

unable to play music in PA JB

since upgrading to paranoidandroid V2.12 I am unable to play music files.... have tried adding music players from the market and still nothing
.. any suggestions
A full wipe and re-flashing the ROM would probably be a good start.

I always keep Qkster's wipe .zip handy and run it a couple of times before flashing. I like to eliminate the possible variable of a half-assed wipe by CWM. If the re-flash doesn't work, might want to compare the MD5 checksum and make sure the ROM .zip download didn't get corrupted.
Clean Wipe download link:

Thanks Apex... that's exactly the script I use..
And did verify the check sum.. reflashed and can now play music from internal SD, but music players do not recognize the external card. I can see the music using a file program and can play them from the file program using Vlplayer but not the music players.... gotta figure out where the switch is get the apps to see the external SD... any suggestions?

[Q] Upgrading to JB

I want to upgrade to JB custom ROM on TF101. I have seen a quite few. But I want to know which one is the best. Also please let me know do we need to download all the apps after upgrading the ROM. Is there a way to keep the apps intact after upgrading or reinstalling by taking back up. Downloading again will take a lot of data and a lot of time. Please help.
You can back up your apps with titanium backup onto an SD card or other external storage, but you must wipe the tablet when upgrading to JB, I recommend team eos nightlies with KAT kernel, they work very nicely.
You can also get the apk files from /system/app I think or /data/app and reinstall after putting those back on the tablet after wiping.
Shall you please let me know what is the purpose of KAT kernel

I'm running Revolver 4.2.1. What are the advantages going to JB from ICS? I'm going on a long trip soon, so I'm mainly looking for stability, battery performance and keyboard/dock compatibility.
Also, I'm reading that we need to install TWRP to run JB ROMs? Or can I still use CWM?
Thanks in advance!

Lots of speed improvements over the stock kernel, fixes for different things like audio and gps
Grab the Kat-App too, that also boosts Audio and GPS

Yes move to TWRP as soon as possible or risk bricking your TF as many have done trying to flash new ROMs with CWM
If you install Goo Manager you can easily install TWRP from the top right settings menu "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
Highly recommend TeamEOS4 and KatKernel in terms of everything you are looking for for your trip
Advantages over ICS are performance and stability and a new UI (Which is swappable with the ICS tablet version from settings in TeamEOS)
OK. I looked at some tutorials to get a sense of TWRP and Goo Manager. I know you can view and download ROMs from GM. So after downloading the ROM, boot into TWRP to install it? How about flashing kernels and the Kat app you referred to? Is that downloaded and installed in the same procedure?

Yep exactly the same as a ROM, I do it this way
For a ROM
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache and System
Install ROM
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
---
For a Kernel
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Install Kernel
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
---
For Gapps
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Install Gapps
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
----
Basically Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache between each flash and when your done, then reboot
For Kat App, its just an app, so wait until you're done with the above, boot into the ROM, get everything set up how you like it, then install the Kat App, its just an APK so you just use a file manager (ES File Explorer is my choice) and click it once to install it
Once in there, goto the Install section and install the GPS and Audio etc, the rest is pretty self explanatory, sections for Audio etc
EDIT - You don't have to use Goo Manager to download the ROMs or others either, sometimes its faster to use the PC and copy them over to the TF then reboot to recovery to flash them, you can use internal or external sdcards in TWRP, I have the links in my sig

This is a tweaked versions of CARBON-JB-UNOFFICIAL-B11 so all credit goes to killersloth for the ROM. Without his work this ROM wouldn't be possible. So if you like this ROM please go to the CARBON ROM thread and click the "Thanks" button.
Changes Made:
Replaced Trebuchet launcher with Nova launcher.
Replaced stock gallery with Sony Z Album and Movie app (Facebook & Twitter integration working.)
Added Sony Z Walkman app with UPNP/DLNA Media Server.
Replaced the default kernel with the kernel from CM10.1 Stable by verygreen.
Added BeatsAudio+xLoud+ClearAudio for audio effects and ViPER4Android for the sound engine. Settings I am using.
Added Mobile BRAVIA® Engine for improved video processing.
Modified Adobe Flash 11.1 with Hulu support.
Host level ad blocking. If you are having issues with adblocking see attachments to remove it.
Forced all rendering to be done on the GPU. Should help with gaming and make things more smoother. To help improve performance even further see this post.
GoogleEars.
Kick Ass Kernelizer
Auto-zipalign and defragdb on boot
Auto Calibration on boot. Only does a few programs each boot. So may take a few reboots to calibrate all of them.
Plus many improvements taken from this thread.
I also added some terminal commands.
Run each command with SU first then the command.
fixfc - Fix apps force closing.
sclean - Clean the dalvik cache and cache partition
v6 - run the V6 SuperCharger script. I would run this as soon as the ROM is setup..
Know bugs
Not a bug as such but something you should be aware of. It does take a few reboots to optimise all the apps.
V4A XHiFi may do a hot reboot when first getting root, same with Root Browser. This will only happen once and will work fine afterwards. This is only normally an issue if you try getting ROOT on first boot. On the second reboot this doesn't happen.
Wifi will turn off then back on while it is setting up wl1271-nvs.bin. Once the file is created Wifi shouldn't disconnect.
Any more issues please report them.

If you would like to use the WALKMAN app from the Sony Xperia Z Ultra you can do so by flashing this: Xperia-Ultra_WALKMAN_SemcMusic.zip. Make sure you boot into the ROM before flashing. If you flash this without booting into the ROM first it will not work.
Most of the features in the Sony Xperia Z Ultra WALKMAN are working but "Music Unlimited" service isn't.
Thank you, I will give it a try.
Do we use the gapps from the original carbon threads?
And how do you flash the scrips? Just like any other zip file? Can it be done when installing this ROM ?

I just added the scripts as a separate download so other devs can take a look at them without downloading the whole ROM. All the scripts are included in the ROM. Everything you need is built into the ROM. Just download it and install.

I installed on top of Carbon B9 without wiping anything and everything was forceclosing. Then I wiped cache partiion and Dalvick cache and reinstalled ,it was usable thistime but several apps still forceclosing including Chrome,I went back to Carbon.

If you did not install with full wipe I am note sure it is fair to mark it as unstable. Did you even attempt to clear the app data for the apps foreclosing?
have not tried this yet but just thought labeling the effort as unstable prior to proper install is not fair.

Just installed with full wipe restoring apps and data from TB. So far everything is ok.
Feels slightly less laggy than B9.
Dunno about battery life yet.
This is working great for me.
I did a dirty flash over RootBox and it's really nice.
Been the best rom for me on my Nook so far. Pinguy1982, please keep the thread updated mate.
Only issue I had was my usual
Android.process.acore has stopped
Which I resolved by following the text below. (cribbed from somewhere on the net)
If you go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/ then choose the All tab. Scroll down to Contacts open it and clear the data cache. Now do the same again but this time open Contact Storage and also clear the data cache. This issue is related to an Android bug and affects many devices. It's related to apps that use the sync function.
Works for me.
Cheers all

I agree completely and would urge the poster to revise his comment or certainly remove the subject. Way too hasty and unfair to make such a quick judgment certainly in the absence of a full or data wipe.

Sorry if I offended you.My understanding is that you wipe data only if you are installing in place of different ROM.It was carbon on top of Carbonand I did not feel I needed to wipe data partition.

Dude it's all cool. But I have changed a fair bit to the ROM so just installing over it probably won't work. I have made drastic changes to how dalvik works so using pre-installed apps from a previous install probably won't work.

Apps no, dalvik cache maybe. Restoring apps settings and the apps won't be a problem, but using the dalvik cache might be.
The cache is in /data/dalvik-cache. Using that maybe an issue.

Battery drain so far seems to be no worse than B9 for me.
Definitely like this ROM, it is faster and smoother than any other I tried for my Nook, seems quite stable as well (no random reboots etc.)
