I have a p5110. Every 4.4.2 rom I try to install I only get to the boot screen. Does it tak a long time for it to boot up the first time? Now that I tried 4.4.2 I can only revert back to a few different roms mainly CM9 and AKOP 4.1.1. No sure what I am doing wrong when I am following all the step other than just not being patient enough for it to start up. I've let it try to boot for at least 5 minutes though.

Not too long. Couple minutes max. You sure you are using the latest update recovery, whether it be TWRP, CWM or Philz. has to be the latest for KK Roms

I dont believe (i could be wrong mind you) that you can restore previous recovery back up from updated recovery. You should just back up your apps with Titanium Backup, move the whole folder to a safe place (ie: computer) Odin back to stock and work up from there. Then put your Titanium folder back and restore user apps only. Good luck

Can I install CyanogenMod 10 with TWRP?

Hi,
I have currently 4.5 CleanRom, and I used TWRP to install it, but I want Jellybean on my phone, can I just use TWRP to install CyanogenMod 10 with it? or do I need another installer of roms like CWM Recovery?
thanks.

of course you can, but if you're on a newer Hboot, you will need to boot the rom through fast boot with boot.img
but of course.

I already have TWRP installed and I know how to access it on fastboot, the only reason I asked why is because I have seen some rooms not working properly with CWM Recovery, so I didnt know if there was any problem the other way around with roms like Cyanogen.
Thanks!
your good to go with twrp, i recommend updating to twrp 2.3.1.0

they should but if you have any problems go into bootloader and run this command "fastboot erase cache"

Bootlooping CM10 on Telstra One XL
Hey guys been trying to work this out for the last 20 hours.
Now i followed the very good guides to put TWRP on the phone that worked fine tried to load cm10 latest nightly rom on kept bootlooping. so decided to give another rom ago.
used viper and it worked fine.
wanted to try and get cm10 working
So i have twrp 2.3.1
And latest cm-10-20121102-NIGHTLY-evita.zip
i wipe system, factory default cache. and the other cache.
go and install the rom all looks good, wipe caches and reboot.. than goes to the cool cm10 logo and loops there for AGES like 30 mins than i power cycled it and tried over.
with no working cm10 there i looked around and followed a guide to fastboot a new boot.img on from out of the cm10 zip.
this looked like it was going to work but still reboot and bootlooping.

try this.
1.) Download the 10/27 build
2.) get the boot.img from this build
3.) wipe cach/dalvik and system
4.) install 11/2 nightly
5.) flash the 10/27 boot.img
6.) reboot
This worked for me, something with the 11/2 and 11/1 boot.img was keeping it from booting.
Good luck

I would only recommend TWRP with CM10, or any other ROM.
Problems with CMW are due to the fact that it never officially supported our device, and was just a port. TWRP has no such issues.

Let's see if I can help. First of all. Be sure to read Vincom's thread about how to install properly a Custom Recovery. Then, go to your custom recovery. Which most likely will be TWRP. I suggest you to Mount the USB Storage and place the CWM zip and your wanted custom rom zip with gapps into your storage. Install CWM and then reboot to recovery. It might take a little bit till CWM starts. Once you are in, delete Cache and Dalvik. Then, install the custom rom. Once you are done, you are done. Before installing gapps I'd suggest you to boot it so you make sure it's all working properly. Last time I installed at the same time (the ROM and Gapps) I saw so many pop-ups that my phone got stuck! Make sure you are using a stable version. As seen several times, nightlies often come with often more trouble than a stable version. They are nightlies for some reason! Right?
I hope it works!

TowerRoot + Autorec + Cyanogen Mod

When I found out that Towel Root can finally root my 4.4.2 LG G2 (D801) from T-Mobile I was very excited to try it, so I went ahead and installed it. It worked of course, very well. so I continued to install Autorec, which restarted into TWRK Recovery. Great!
I wipe Dalvik & Cache and flash the Stable Cyanogen 10.2 rom from 2013, and now it's stuck on boot. Also tried with the latest nightly to same outcome.

Baseband is your modem. Install the zip in recovery before installing your rom. Install baseband/modem, full wipe, install rom.
You should find what you need here> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451426
I suggest you read up on this stuff a little to get more familiar.

The only problem is, I can't do a full wipe because I have to keep the ZIP files of Cyanogen Mod and Gapps on the device. There is no way to load them on the device when in TWRP.
Also, that post is very confusing. It has a list of roms, and then a download link to a completely different list. How do I know which download correlates with:
D801BK (T-Mobile USA)
D80110C
M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190034
by QUALCOMM, Incorporated Aug 10 2013
Is it LGD801_10C_RADIO.zip ??

OK I tried again, flashed LGD801_10C_RADIO.zip before the Cyanogen zip, then Gapps and Supersu, restarted and it's doing the same thing. Cyanogen screen loading animation but never booting up.
Like I said before, I CANNOT do a full wipe in TWRP because that will delete all the ZIP files on the device. This device does not have an SD card I can load them on and the USB connection doesn't work (driver not found, this is apparently a known bug).

With TWRP can't in the wipe section you do an advanced wipe and just not select internal storage, thus leaving the ROM on your phone while still doing a full wipe?
TheBestEver said:
Full wipe means the "factory reset" option in TWRP. You're on kitkat bootloader. You need to somehow find a flsshable .zip of the jb bootloader. Modem doesn't matter. I've used JB and KK modem and both work. Maybe you're on stock KK kernel and need to flash the JB kernel? If you're on KK stock and want to jump to CM you should find a flashable .zip of both kernels or .IMG times and try that as well if option 1 doesn't work. Sorry

[Q] help upgrading from 4.1 to 4.3/4

ok guys, stupid question time. i have been out of the hacking game for a while and havent been keeping up with the S3 since i was running a pretty stable version of cyanogenmod. i picked up a S5 last month and the S3 has just been sitting but the wifes phone is on its last leg so i figured i would update the S3 and give it to her since it would be an upgrade to what she has now. i was running CM 4.1.2 and tried to flash the 4.3 AllianceRom. did my usual, updated CWM, downloaded the rom, checked the MD5, flashed the new modem and rom using CWM and everything looked good. then it happened. stuck at the "galaxy SIII" logo screen. nothing got me out of it. wiped everything, tried a reinstall, downloaded the rom again and did an install, nothing. tried another rom and the install failed, tried another rom and again, install failed. so i had a copy of cleanrom 5.6 which is a 4.1.1 rom and damn if that didnt hand as well. so i did a battery pull and luckly it had installed and the phone actually booted up and into android. the only downside is for some reason i cant connect to wifi with the rom. so, i still want to try either 4.3 or 4.4 on this phone so the question is, WTF am i doing wrong that it wont boot? shouldnt i be able to go from 4.1.1 to 4.3 or 4.4 by just using CWM? help a brother out.

You need to use the latest PhilZ Touch Recovery (https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/) (just flash it in your current recovery). It is the best, and it works great. I would first go to "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" and choose to "Clean to Install a New ROM." Then I would go into "Advanced" and wipe dalvik cache. Then I would go into "Mounts and Storage" and format boot and modem. Then I would flash the newest modem (http://www.mediafire.com/download/v0als76t6nmtpbo/DNE1.modem.zip). Then finally install your ROM and then GApps.
yes, CWM was updated just before flashing. i installed the recommended modem for the rom i was installing. not sure why it was stuck at the logo on 4.3 when i flashed a 4.1.1 rom and it booted right up just fine.
resolved. thanks guys.

I did all of the above and I can't get anything to work....
I updated to Philz, updated the modem and went to install a new ROM and it's error'ing out every time?
This phone was rooted from way back and it appears that I may have lost root... It's stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S III boot screen and I'm trying to get it to boot in to recovery at this time.
Edit: Was able to get in to recovery and restoring a backup now. Somethings not right when trying to go to a newer ROM.

TWRP 2.8.7.0?

Has anyone one used the latest twrp recovery? I know know there have been issues with past versions.
Been working fine for me. I only use it for a little before flashing ktoonsez recovery. If you aren't having issues with your current one, really no need to change. I just always grab the latest when "starting over" from a full firmware flash.

The thing is I'm not too sure about what recovery I can install. Is TWRP 2.8.7.0 gonna work with me or do I have to use SafeStrap? Well I have used twrp recovery pretty religiously it has an good interface. Some find the Phil's CWM is good as will although I don't think that they is any more support for that, but there is one floating out there. I have never used SafeStrap. I believe that is used for lock bootloader which would be unnecessary for our Sprint phone which are unlocked.
