[Q] S4 (I9506) rooting issues - General Questions and Answers

hi XDA members,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9506) which is the Snapdragon 800 version running Jellybean 4.3. I rooted using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064 and device worked fine for about two days. I was able to delete bloatware but after the second day I wanted to delete another bloatware app (Chat On) but was unable to do so. A message saying "Su binary missing" and when checked with Root App Checker the result came up as "Device is not rooted". I even tried restoring through CWM because I made a back up just before root procedure, but that went unsuccessful. The device went into soft brick and i had to take it to a professional to get the stock firmware re-loaded.
Can someone please enlighten me on why the device reverted to 'un-root'????
p.s. no custom ROM was flashed/installed....
thanks in advance XDA

[Q] Help with Sprint Galaxy Tab

Let me preface this by saying I am fairly new with rooting and flashing /flamesuit. I have a sprint galaxy tab that I rooted (or tried to root I should say) using z4root. I applied a permanent root and everything went fine. I then installed rom manager to help with putting clockworkmod and flashing roms. My tab has the superuser app on it, but rom manager still displays an error message that says my tab needs to be rooted before I can use it, I cant even install cwmod. At this point I'd just like to start over and use a different method to root the tab but everytime I try to remove the root using z4 the tab vibrates a few times before force closing. If there is something I could use to restore my tab without clockworkmod I would be very appreciative if someone could bring it to my attention.
Thanks
Try using SuperOneClick to UNroot your tab.

[Q] How to succesfully update CWM and CF-Root

Hi guys,
I have the international version of the Galaxy S3 and I have a little problem. The first thing I did when I've got it was root it with Odin and everything went fine but now I see the rooting doesn't work as it should. Buisybox says it needs to be rooted and SuperSu is configured to allow everything. Also, when I launch CWM Manager (v3.55) a popup says that it should be used with CF-Root v5.0 or newer.
My question is, how should I update everything? When I format/upgrade my old Galaxy S2 to give it to my dad, I simply flashed CF-Root to the CW10 and it broke the phone's boot. Luckily I had backed up everything using CF-Root the day before. Should I uninstall it first? How? And how can I do it without loosing the backup I'll make to my S3 before I try anything?
What I mean is... how can I update everything in a "clean" way?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Note II Failed Update to 4.3 even 4.1.2

Dear all,
I'm in serious problem now. I'm using Samsung Galaxy Note II - N7100 and I'm from Malaysia.
For my country, the Android 4.3 not yet released but I had flashed my ROM to the India ROM which released last few days ago.
And after tested for few days, I found there is some issue and I tried to downgrade it to 4.1.2 but it failed. Until at the end, I end up my device with soft brick. I lost my IMEI number previously and now I successfully get back.
FYI, sorry that I'm newbie and I don't know that the KNOX security prevent to downgrade until now I know it.
Now, I have a device that is rooted. FYI, I didn't root the device but it rooted itself and also now I'm in trouble is whatever official ROM I tried to flash, it will be failed. I had tried to flash back to Android 4.3 with ODIN but it show me failed. Only one ROM that is allowed which is the ROM that come with my phone, Android 4.1.1.
One more weird thing is that I did do Factory Reset, Wipe Cache and Partition but when it goes into the Android interface, I could still see my previously connected Wi-Fi SSID there. It seem doesn't delete at all but for other things like my files, all are deleted.
I had tried many method to unroot the phone, reset the binary count and etc. But all my efforts were in vain.
I using ODIN to flash my phone. Please, Please and Please help me. I really had no idea what to do.
I'm very depress now. Please help me.... Please....:crying:
As i don't know anything about knox security or something like that, i don't really know how to help, but i found a link which could help you eventually....especially now, where you are rooted.
Good luck

[Q] Problem with rooting galaxy s4 running Android 4.3

I have a galaxy s4 gt-i9500 just upgraded to jelly bean 4.3. I rooted with it Christmas autoroute using Odin. It all went well but I noticed that while rebooting it doesn't shows that Android is upgrading like what I used to see when I rooted it while it running Android 4.2.2.
Also when I checked it using root checker the message "Please wait for root checker to complete. The system seems running very slow." I wait for quite a long time and then it showed that the rooting is failed.
What did I go wrong?? I tried it several times but still the same. Any help.!!
You could boot it into fastboot mode, flash CWM or TWRP and flash a custom ROM
Due to Knox sometimes the root process doesn't work straight away. I had to flash it a couple of times and then it went through.

[Q] ATT S3 i747 lost root

I have had my phone rooted for about a year. I updated my phone 2 months ago to Quantum kitkat 4.4.2 and I seem to have lost root. I can still reboot into custom recovery, update and install zip files, create backup, etc. yet the phone has lost superuser. I have tried re installing SU via app and zip. It says "the SU binary needs to be updated" Every way i have tried has failed. I have tried rerootin using Framaroot and through terminal emulator using motochopper. none works. When I updated to the newest Kitkat 6.1 kernell yesterday in recovery it said " phone is not rooted would you like to root?" when i said yes it stayed in endless boot loop.
HELP! How can I get root back without factory reset and staying on Quantum kitkat?
