Nope, you don't have to do anything. Just connect your tab via usb cable and run Kies. If a FW update is available you will be notified as soon as the Kies start...

bro no matter rooted or unrooted when connected to kies it will show update if available.and disconnection problem is with most of tab 2 user.so there are two ways wait for fota or go to service center and get tab updated.
I've tried to update my rooted P3113 from wifi download, not by KIES.
No success! It must be because of the CWM recovery installed, since the tab automatically boots to recovery after downloading updates from samsung. I think the samsung official update scenario stucks at this point (because there is no standart android recovery after CWM installed).
When i'm trying to update rooted P3113 from KIES - no success too, because of "disconnection" problem.
So, we waiting for the stock 4.0.4 rom file for CWM recovery.
Root or unrooted doesn't matter. My tablet is stock and never rooted and Kies was still messing up. Luckily I finally got the OTA this morning.
When I checked for update from my device. It says no update is available. How to get the update?

I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 that was rooted and the other day when I turned it on it started updating my tablet. However, the update failed. Probably because I was rooted. So I unrooted the tablet and every time I check for updates it says there are NO updates. I installed Kies on Windows and (after connecting to it with the GTab2 7) it shows me that there IS an update for it. However, every time I click on update it disconnects after a few seconds and and goes back to the initial screen saying there is an update.
So, I can't install it via Kies. And now I when I check for updates it says there are NO updates. Am I totally screwed OR what.
When the update failed, I think when it rebooted to install it THAT it came up to CWM and that is why it failed BUT now CWM is gone and I am definitely NOT rooted with stock ROM on the machine.
However, I see in the settings under STATUS that is shows "modified" instead of "normal".
Is there any way to reset the status? Or is it necessary?

You don't need to unroot, just flash 4.0.4 firmware with odin as i described in this topic
Download firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-P3113
You will have unrooted stock firmware after flash complete. And after that you install cwm and root just as you did with 4.0.3
One way is to just flash it in Odin.
I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645295
This seems to be a pretty foolproof "restock" method.
The only UNROOT method that worked for me!

The only METHOD that UNROOTED my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3113 was the instructions at this web site :
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-tab-2-7-0-p3113-root-clockworkmod-recovery-96474/
It's a 2 step process. I tried several other places that had similar instructions BUT this one worked. You have to download several files and the recovery rom file has 2 different versions and you choose the one that is appropriate for your situation. I was NOT sure which was appropriate so I tried both and it finally worked.
And it DOES unroot it.
And later that night JUST after midnight I was AGAIN notified on my GT2 7 that I had an update. This time it downloaded the 200+ mb file and rebooted and came up and installed it perfectly!
And every thing is working well now and I am on 4.04. It is SO much smoother than 4.03. A real keeper until Jelly Bean comes available.

Hello everybody at xda. My name is George and I'm fairly new to android hacking and such. It's been a month since I rooted my first phone (Samsung galaxy y) I found there was very limited custom ROMs but nevertheless was proud of what I had done. Since then, I have rooted a galaxy s gt I 9000 and have installed CM 11 nightly. It was fairly simple. I rooted my dad's lg optimus 4xhd p880. When I tried to install CWM recovery my dad's phone got an error report when trying to boot. (On the lg logo it had tiny red writing at the top.) After researching I discovered we hadn't unlocked his boot loader and trying to flash CWM had soft bricked. We ran the phone in SW mode by holding vol down with the battery out and connecting a USB to the computer. Then with lg tools flashed the stock recovery back. After that we unlocked the boot loader with a BL unlock .exe found on xda and BINGO!! I flashed CWM 6.0.4.4 touch on (because it's the only one that will flash 4.4+ kitkat ROMs in this device) and now it's flashed with beanstalks 4.4.2 ROM. It's totally amazing. I've also rooted a galaxy s3 mini gt I 8190n and flashed dmod on it witch is an OK rom. As much as I love rooting and stuff I don't have any more devices so I was hoping for some feedback and ideas of what I can do next!

hi XDA members,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9506) which is the Snapdragon 800 version running Jellybean 4.3. I rooted using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064 and device worked fine for about two days. I was able to delete bloatware but after the second day I wanted to delete another bloatware app (Chat On) but was unable to do so. A message saying "Su binary missing" and when checked with Root App Checker the result came up as "Device is not rooted". I even tried restoring through CWM because I made a back up just before root procedure, but that went unsuccessful. The device went into soft brick and i had to take it to a professional to get the stock firmware re-loaded.
Can someone please enlighten me on why the device reverted to 'un-root'????
p.s. no custom ROM was flashed/installed....
thanks in advance XDA
I have had my phone rooted for about a year. I updated my phone 2 months ago to Quantum kitkat 4.4.2 and I seem to have lost root. I can still reboot into custom recovery, update and install zip files, create backup, etc. yet the phone has lost superuser. I have tried re installing SU via app and zip. It says "the SU binary needs to be updated" Every way i have tried has failed. I have tried rerootin using Framaroot and through terminal emulator using motochopper. none works. When I updated to the newest Kitkat 6.1 kernell yesterday in recovery it said " phone is not rooted would you like to root?" when i said yes it stayed in endless boot loop.
HELP! How can I get root back without factory reset and staying on Quantum kitkat?
Samsung SGH I747

(Newly tested)
I recently tried out towelroot v3 with all the modstrings. I get an error that my phone is not supported. I got ny phone beforr june 2014. I have also tried out root master in chinese and even that is not working.
Hi members of the community.
i came here newly registered because it hink my issue can help other samsung s3 users with rooting issue.
I did a cf-autoroot via odin on my computer and the root seemed to had gone fine. All until i rebooted my phone after doing a supersu update and i lost all my root priviliges. After that i did a factory reset just to be sure everything of rooti g was gone of my phone. After i did the factory reset i still had my supersu installed. And after i updated my phone to 4.3 jelly bean i lost it again. When i was on jelly bean 4.3 i tried to do the rooting process once again. Still it works fine all until i reboot. So i once again did a factory reset and now the supersu was gone. Well thats not just it . When i updated to jelly bean 4.3 i tried autoroot softwares like rootgenius where i got the message that it was sucessfully rooted. But now i was not able to get root access on my phone. I once again did factory reset and updated to jelly bean and tried another rooting software. And that did not work either. And then another factory reset and now root genius did not suceed anymore. I have also tried the popular one click root app everyonr talks about but it seems all i get is an error code and the only exploit being listed is aragorn. Are anyone familiar with this kind of issue ? Is there a way to clean my phone from all kinds of root ? I have tried something called universal riit but its not cleaning anything unless i got root access.
