Landscape Dock Compatible with Nexus 5? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, is there a dock that works with the Nexus 5 but sits in landscape? I see a couple third party docks that hold it up in portrait, and of coarse the magnetic wireless charging docks, but no landscape.

Well nope. I seriously believe there is no such thing at this point. Pretty sad.
Its really hitting me now that I have really been looking, that there is literally no accessories beyond simple basics made for the Nexus 5. What is the deal with that? Nothing. It's pretty crazy. I see all these other devices with insane accessories for every imaginable situation and am in shock. And then go to look for the same for the Nexus 5 and sure enough. Nothing.
Seems like a popular enough phone, i don't understand.

The orb that was released with the Nexus 4 works just fine in landscape. I use it every night with my Nexus 5.

How easy does the back get marked up?

I have a black Nexus 5 and currently using a case, but rather not. I'm wondering if anyone has marked up the back of there phone yet or shows some kind of wear from normal use without dropping it. It just looks sooo much nicer out of the case and feels better, but I rather not mark it up if its fairly easy to do so

Auto lock/unlock with flipcase

Can somebody tell me if its possible to enable how i can do it?

I'm using a poetic brand flip case which has this feature. Just Google poetic flip cases

Here's an excellent case that does just that

As per my understanding, auto lock in flip cover requires proximity sensor information to lock/unlock the phone.
I am not sure how the cases mentioned above works...
Can any one help to understand this?

I've got just a random flip case wich i think it doesnt has such a feature but i thought it should work with the sensor like during a phone call so it could be controlled with an application?

It's pretty easy to set up with Tasker... I've been playing around with it for a while.
I have a flip case also and I have that set up already - it's crazy useful. Search online there's tons of tutorials explaining what to do.

Flip cases just need a small magnet that let's the phone know it's closed. However the light sensor on the phone would register very dark inclosed within a flip cause which could be used to set this up with software.

You have to provide a little bit more information. Like time on, other usage.
I thought I uploaded the other photo.

I would say yes, who knows what your screen brightness was at even though I am sure it was probably at auto. Talking on the phone can drain a lot of battery.
Why note 3 to nexus 5, seems odd?
Well you did talk on the phone for a while. But Google Search is draining the battery more than it should. I would just reboot and do another full charge. Google Search was draining my Nexus 7 the other day and the reboot/recharge seemed to have fixed it. For now anyway. Android OS/Google Search seems to be a recurring bug. Unless of course you were using google now a lot, in which case it would probably be normal.

I did not hear of the app until you made that post; the man is probably still stock/non rooted/ just getting used to it.

I had the note 3 I just wasn't a big fan of the build quality and the Samsung over lay of it. I always loved the nexus 4 and when I used the neuxs 5 in person I fell in love with the design and how smooth it was. But the battery is starting to worry me. I'm on cataclysm rom with Franco kernel r22. I have WiFi on with the phone using 3g only. I barely use Google search. The phone calls werent that long either. I just feel like the battery is being drained way to fast for no reason. I keep most apps closed after I'm done using then. I had greenify on and I have the kernel set to 1.7ghz. I just don't know what to do with anymore.

I have a note 3 as well and looking to buy a nexus to play with. The only two things keeping me om the fence is lack of an sd card slot, and the battery life issues we speak of here.
Do you find the nexus 5 to have better build quality vs the note 3?

[Q] Nexus 5 or LG G2 Same Price

In my country they have same price. So which one would be a better choice? I love stock android, but the specs confuse me. I am planning to use the phone about 3-4 years.
Thanks.

I would take the nexus 5 over the g2. This seems like the longest ongoing argument in the Nexus 5 forums. There is a thread "g2 v nexus 5 I have both" but I stopped looking at it after like the second page because it was a useless thread that just makes you go what the hell. Nexus 5 will have the most support unless you are just going to buy it and slap CM on it. I think the g2 has a better speaker for listening to music but the Nexus 5 is easily fixed with a flash of a zip here and there. Camera wise I do not know. Remember nexus 5 is unlocked and is easystreet to root and unlock the bootloader. Make sure the g2 isn't carrier subsidized because it's a little more difficult to get through those phones, still can be done just not as easy as n5. :good:

Hi mate,
If you stick to Wifi and mobile data the whole day, 6-7 hours backup you will get :-|
Else with minimum usage of everything, it gives you a day backup
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I would definitely take the N5! I come from a LG G2 myself, but it just wasn't doing it for me.
The Nexus 5 just seems so much more professionally made - both hardware and software wise (mostly due to the lag of LG UI). It feels so much better in the hand.
I too was scared that I would be disappointed by the smaller battery in the N5, but I took the step because everything else would be so much better.
AND I LOVE MY NEXUS 5! I don't regret it one bit!
Luckily the battery didn't disappoint me at all. As you can see in another post of mine, it actually performs almost as well as the G2! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49901859&postcount=1822

6-7 hours backup? I just went over 3 days on a charge. Granted it wasn't heavy usage, but I'd say 3.5+ hours screen time over 3 days is pretty great. 100% stock unrooted mobile data on the whole time.

@95Z28,
Are you getting that much amount of battery back up on your Wifi??
Because I'm using stock too and getting one day battery backup on usage of Wifi + mobile data :-|
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I actually don't use WiFi as I have unlimited data. In the past I found WiFi to cause more of a battery drain in standby, but most people will say WiFi uses less battery. I usually charge every 2 days with about 4 hours screen time.
Everyones use varies though, if you look in the battery life threads you'll find all kinds of different results. Some considerably better than mine, others much worse.

I get great battery even on WiFi. 3% battery loss all night.
Bare in mind I still had 1/3 of battery left at these screenshots. So based on them numbers I can get 2 full days at least with at least 6 hours of screen time.
This was at home pretty much all the time constantly connected to WiFi.

I'd pick the Nexus 5 if you either like to flash new stuff or want a phone that is updated for longer. If pure speed is your thing, I saw a comparison and the G2 was clearly faster.

It's given almost as good today under normal usage.
WiFi left switched on but under DC-HSPA for most of the day.
16hrs on battery
Over 2 hours screen time
2/3 of battery left
Lots of xda
Some Browsing
Some YouTube
A little music and a few calls and texts

By remote control are you meaning like vnc/remote desktop. If so that is a major killer on battery life.
Don't know why but every android device I have used with remote desktop seems to make it run at full throttle, get really warm then kill the battery.

If you're going to have it for 3-4 years, it should definitely be a nexus 5.
The ease of development on this device will allow smooth upgrades even after google drops support after its 18 month cycle.
Look at this:
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...s-android-4-4-and-joins-its-younger-brothers/
This is a 4 year old device now. It runs kitkat, and personally as I've modified a friends nexus one to run this, it runs pretty decently enough.
Nexus man.

I don't understand why the Nexus 5 speakers are always called into question in threads like these. Am I the only one who thinks the stock speaker settings are just fine and are capable of reaching volumes high enough for me to never use?

Disable IOS on Nexus 5

Does anyone know if, and how we could Disable IOS on Nexus 5, i.e. fix the lens? When the camera is on the Dash I get very shaky vibrating Recordings. When mounted on the windscreen it is slightly better but is still inacceptable for me.
I hav another older phone without ois and that does it very well ......
