Hi all,
Which kernel or kernels support USB otg for Nexus 5 kitkat 4.4.2?
Franco do quite well.
I use this kernel and has no mention of USB OTG support that i seen.however i use a Sony 16g micro USB Flash drive with Stickmount ,Root explorer and works really well

Franco kernel is the best
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I know that CM supports USB OTG by default without the need to flash another kernel or use stickmount app. And also it charges the phone when I connect my usb 3.0 HDD with additional power to the USB. But why can't other ROM developers implement this option?

Using franco from last 3 months and i haven't seen a post with bricks.. But having a nexus and bricking it? ... Never had problems with franco and i think it's the most used kernel here at XDA..

This is all i plug in with no power source and no extra cable/wires.
Stickmount pro
Root explorer pro
Pro versions just foe the extras and supporting the devs

I've read the entire Franco thread for both the N5&10 and never read of anyone bricking their phone due to that kernel.
I use rooted stock with Franco r34 on both my N5&10 and OTG works well with the aforementioned stickmount and USB OTG Helper.

That's because you can't brick with a kernel unless:
1) You flashed it wrong (disconnected power through flash or something)
2) You flashed the wrong kernel for your device and perhaps supplied too much voltage to hardware.

My nexus s 4g does not indicate its charging, but it does charge. Rarely it will show the little lightning symbol that shows its charging, but that hasn't happened in a while It also does not connect to my pc anymore.Actually, I noticed it does show it's charging while plugged into my laptop, but my laptop doesn't recognize it and I cant access any of the files. I tried reformatting the phone but that didn't help.

Hi,
What ROM & kernel are u on?
Did it work before on same ROM?
I had similar issue with one of slim bean's versions. It did not indicate it was charging with notification symbol, but when I went to settings/battery it said charging.
It has something to do with the kernel, so try a new ROM or reinstall.
Good luck

Are you enabling fast charge? I'm not sure about regular charging but it would explain the issue of being able to charge from computer but not being able to mount it.

Is ur phone stock? Basically if u bought ur phone and have only updated ur software from ur provider, then u r stock. If so ignore below because u will not understand what it means or it will not pertain to your phone.
If u r rooted, meaning ur have freedom to change ur software, PRL & kernel freely, then perhaps u have a kernel that allows fast charge. Basically when enabled, it will allow ur phone to fast charge while connected to any USB via computer/laptop. But it will not allow data transfer.
Good luck

easiest way, a root enabled file explorer(i use root explorer), straight from your phone. all youll have to fo is extract it out of /system/app/ of the rom then copy/paste into you storage. then stick it into your current /system/app/ and reboot. by rebooting, itll install itself. then when booted, select it as your keyboard

I appreciate the link and the PM but I do already know this. I believe the Tech Times article is wrong with the last three numbers of Play Services being the same. Either way, whether I'm looking for .240 or .440, neither of them are available on APK Mirror. Has anyone found a version of Play Services for the Note 5 that makes Android Pay work?

I just downloaded this one (8.1.14 (2244331-240))
This keeps showing up. I guess it won't work while being rooted.

Use .248 working on mine
I got the official update from the Play Store. My debit card is in there and I assume works. I haven't had a chance to use it yet in a store.
I've been using the Samsung Pay and it works really well and is super easy to use.

For the ones that got it working, are you rooted?
I'm rooted, installed 240, doesn't work. Gives that error when i try to add a card
I wasn't able to get it working on thrashrom 3.4 so I switched to stock rooted which worked. So then I switched to stock deodexed which worked and now I'm on Dr Ketan L2 working perfectly. So maybe try a different rom.

I'm on Dr Ketan and no luck. Any tips?
Honestly since then I tried tekhd rom and it didn't work, so I switched back to Dr ketan and it didn't work lol. Now mind you I tried every trick in the book on both from root cloak to nodevicecheck to unrooting and nada. I all but refused to go back to stock and start from scratch so I gave up.
Basically I had it working for all of 18 hours or so lol.

worked fine for me by just disabling root in Superuser. I ended up deleting Android Pay because I don't want to be forced to use a 'secure' lock screen... Why couldn't it just require a PIN like the old Wallet app?

I had to Odin back to stock to get android pay to work then I rooted my phone. It was working until I flashed another rom.

Yeah I was reading through another forum I found on Google about the issue. It was a general get android pay working type thread with people with all sorts of different phones, but the common theme seems to be stock roms and stock rooted roms work but no custom roms. Of course there was the random fluke like when I had it working but I can't even seem to duplicate the magic I had that day.
