[Q] Wifi not working after flashing Faux Kernel - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed the faux kernel on my Moto G device. Everything seems to work fine, but for some reason the wifi doesn't work. Every time I try to press on, it'll immediately flip back to off. I tried to look for a solution for a few hours already, but to no avail.
I got the faux kernel and followed the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582635&highlight=module
I kind of found a supposed solution, but I'm not sure how it works, can someone help me out?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2619553
"So, I got it working again. The problem was indeed in the persist folder, it was missing a file named WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin. So I managed to extract it from the persist.img and moved it to persist folder again. After that I edited the bin file and inserted my MAC address. Finally I have flashed my phone to stock ROM again and it worked just fine."
What persist folder is the OP talking about? I can't find it anywhere.
If anyone can help, it would be great...

Never had this problem with faux kernel on my g en.eu version. Wifi always works good after flash that kernel. What moto g version you have?

If by version you mean the firmware version, I have KitKat 4.4.2.

No i mean firmware.

You could try flashing via CWM, maybe it's a modules issue.

No WIFI when flashing back to stock

I have a strange problem.
When flashing back to stock from josalaito's repacked 4.4.2 rom, my wifi stop working.
It doesn't matter what firmware I flash:
Ive done it with:
Blur_Version.14.91.11.falcon_umts.Retail.en.DE
Blur_Version.14.71.8.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB
Blur_Version.14.14.16.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US
and today with the new
Blur_Version.172.44.4.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US (4.4.2 Firmware)
there is no way to get wifi working on my device. (I can't turn it on in settings, also there is no MAC Address in settings.. )
The only rom where Wifi works is the repacked from josalaito.
Thanks for any help.
I have that same problem. :/ I tried that same rom and it looks like it deleted something? My phone is xt1032 GB retail 16gb model.

[Q] No service, tried everything

I got a p500h from my friend since my razr droid died and I needed something to hold me over until I can save up for the note3. It had 2.2 on it so I flashed CM 10.1 for 4.2.2. When I put my sim card in I had no service.
I checked the baseband and it was unknown so I flashed it for v.20 and it appeared but I still get no service.
I don't have gapps installed because I don't really need it.
And that's pretty much it. I can't think of anything else to try, can someone help? I'm using a non-smart phone in the meantime and it is quite terrible.
Try the old Baseband fix, that did it for me some years ago, not sure if you need the v10 baseband coming from 2.2 but the fix should work. You can find it here on the Forum.
If nothing works, use kdz to flash the Stock Rom and start over.

Thanks, I wanted to try that but when I go to download the milk_os fix at the bottom of this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14743798&postcount=2
I get redirected to some bull****(lp.downloadsetup.net)
And I just don't trust this thing, is this really what I'm suppose to download?
Is definitely the fault of baseband. Some rom is incompatible with any type of baseband. Try to download from play store an application with baseband-ril match...

Sounds like you have an old baseband phone, but you flashed a new baseband ROM on it. In that case, simply flash the zip indicated below (I suggest you mount /system in recovery before flashing, even though the script auto-mounts /system, just to be sure). I'm attaching two zips for the sake of completeness; the one you want is the Use_New_BB_ROMS.zip.
Use_New_BB_ROMS.zip -- Flash this zip if you're trying to use a new baseband ROM on a phone that uses the old baseband. If you have no network on 2.3 and above ROMS, your phone probably uses the old baseband, so this is the zip you need.
Use_Old_BB_ROMS.zip -- Flash this zip if you're trying to use an old baseband ROM on a phone that uses the new baseband. If you have no network on 2.2 and below ROMS, your phone probably uses the new baseband, so this is the zip you need.

I tried to flash it but I get an error: can't copy META-INF/com/google/android/updated-binary
Should I be wiping cache for this? Dalvik cache?
I used LGMDP-v1.5 to get bb v.20 on my phone in the first place, I tried to do the same with v.10 after v.20 didn't work but it just went back to baseband unknown. when I tried to download the milk_os fix it just linked me to some phishing page.
What recovery are you using? I've tried with AmonRa & CWM 5.0.2.0 and both work. Other CWM versions will probably work, too. Haven't tried with TWRP.
If this flashed successfully but you still don't have service, then you might have borked something when changing baseband in KDZ. If that's the case, then hopefully others will be able to help you as I've never touched KDZ myself.

I tried it, here's what happened.
First I just flashed it, I checked the baseband, it was unknown. Previously it was v.20 so I tried flashing in v.10 since this was a fix for v.10 AFAIK
Still unknown.
Tried flashing the fix again just to overwrite whatever it needed to overwrite and still unknown.
I'm back to square 1 on this one.

[Q] Wifi automaticilly turning to off

Hello. I have a problem. At first I unlocked bootloader, rooted, put custom recovery, all the things, than I installed faux's hybrid first from fastboot ,but wifi would automaticaly turn off if i try to turn it on, so i flashed it with cwm as was one of the replies with the same problem. After that wifi was working properly. Than i installed xposed framework and uninstalled it uncorrectly and whatnot tried to change to art which turned to be a mistake. Basicaly my phone was really messed up, cuz i played a little too much with it. So i completely wiped it and went by the guide on how to restore stock firmware. I now have us retail version, but from the startup (with the original kernel) the wifi wasn't working. So i tried to install the kernel via cwm, but that didn't fix it. I don't know what's the problem. I also tried to copy /system/lib/modules files for hybrid kernel but nothing changes.. Maybe i could try with stock us retail 4.3 xt1032 files if anyone has them? I don't know im still a noob so if anyone of you has a solution or someething it would be kindly appreciated.
Thanks

I couldn't understand the question clearly .
Could explain it to me??!
If the WiFi didn't work after flashing the latest firmware I think you should Check the ftf file maybe it's not for c2105 (or you mobile model) COZ I read that the different between these two devices is just networking, So get the suitable one for your device model(if this was the question)

Try this it may work:
First of all try to change the ftf file (download other one)
If didn't work flash this boot.IMG via fastboot on stock ROM just on stock ROM.
After flashing it flash the kernal and Fota kernal from the same ftf via flashtool .
As I told you flash it on stock ROM then flash the kernal and the fora kernal

For the ftf

Thanks to @Joel16 for the link
I mean by kernal the kernal in the ftf exclude everything while flashing in flashtool except the kernal and the fota kernal
I'm having the same issue. But it started out of nowhere, so I'm guessing its a hardware problem.
After it happened, I flashed almost every kind of ROM and Kernel around here. Nothing worked.
Also I flashed the official Sony's firmware for my country and it still not working.
Tried the PC Companion's repair function, didn't work too.
When I try to turn WIFI on, I get a "fail to load wifi driver" message at logcat.
I'm not new into flashing ROMs, so I'm almost sure it is not a system issue despite the error message I get.

[help] My WiFi is slow and disconnects

So last night my phones wifi was working fine. That's until I made a few modifications to it.
Things I did:
Installed TWRP Recovery Menu Moto G port
Installed CM13 Osprey Nightly 20160704
Installed SuperSU
Installed Gapps
Right after all that I realized my WiFi wouldn't connect during the CM13 setup. It just said saved after I entered the password. I tried manually connecting it, it went from full bars to one bar then goes back to saved.. When my phone actually connects to the WiFi it is running extremely slower than normal. It also disconnects at random times.
Things I've tried to fix the problem:
Reinstalling ROM w/wo Gapps & w/wo SuperSU
Trying new router
Allowing all permissions that were not allowed
Enabled legacy DHCP client (saw on a forum)
Contacting ISP to see the strength of modem
If anybody has a solution it would be appreciated. I am not sure what to do. Also im in the same room as the router so the connection strength should be solid. If any other information is needed I'll provide it asap. Thank you.
Try Resurrection Remix, Turbo, CandySix or another ROM... there was grumblings of WiFi issues on the last few CM nightlies in various forums (not just Moto G, but not all devices).
Just flash Resurrection Remix (or whichever ROM) and Mini or smaller gapps package, should be better.

I just finished flashing a new ROM. The ROM was called Turbo. But the sad news is I am still having the issue with the WiFi. Its extremely slow and sometimes I will lose connection to it.
Question: is it possible when I flashed a new recovery/ROM and rooted the device of ruined the WiFi adapter?

It shouldn't. If you are using a case check by removing it. Otherwise flashing firmware via fastboot again may help. I was having a problem of phone rebooting when sim was inserted, I flashed firmware and was good to go. It can solve issues with phone radio and subsequently (maybe) your wifi.

Very odd... Flashing a ROM or recovery doesn't touch the modem/radio firmware, although the WiFi on the Moto G 2015 is largely driven by the kernel modules that are compiled with it. Both CM and Turbo, and most roms for the G3 are based on CyanogenMod.
My next step would be to try another kernel, I use squid and WiFi works fine, but any newer kernel has the latest kernel drivers. If the results are the same, might be time to step back and reflash the latest stock Marshmallow image completely and work backwards... Root, test, Flash kernel, test, flash rom, test, etc.
You were in marshmallow before starting the whole thing, right?

I was on marshmallow before I did everything. Before I proceed with flashing the original Marshmallow image, is there anything I should take not of during the processes? Also this will make me sound like a noob but what do you mean flash the kernel?

Restoring the stock images is pretty simple, just log the process... It will return to compete stock.
In the Original Development area there are custom kernels, you can flash them with TWRP to replace the stock ROM kernel. Squid is my personal favorite, we'll balanced without tweaks.

Either restore the nandroid you (should) have from before rooting/flashing, or use lost101's guide and rom images to flash via fastboot. The threads are in general.

I don't have a backup because I don't have enough storage. But I did follow lost101s guide.
The bad news is I am still having issues with the wifi. It's not as bad though the speed is decent and it disconnects a lot and just shows saved.
Therefore the problem shouldn't be with the custom rom and I tried using a different device to see if it's my internet but it worked fine.
My conclusion is either the wifi/Bluetooth adapter needs to be replaced.
Although my problem was not solved thank you for trying to help me solve the issue! Much appreciated.
Oh a post after a long time.
I have been having exactly same issues but only with nougat roms.
If I restore my rr marshmallow backup wifi works just fine.
Is flashing stock firmware the only solution?
