No sound at all - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a TF101 ( B80KAS179xxx) and from a few days ago I couldn't replay any sound (speakers or headphones, even giving me the headphones connected information in the screen).
I tried to replay all kind of sounds (Youtube, MP3 file, etc) and the sound setup seems normal, with all the volume at the highest level.
As I were a root user using the original ROM from ASUS, I have successfully installed the latest KatKiss release for TF101 in order to check if it was a software/firmware problem.
Now, when I open youtube or any other app with sound it doesn't plays at all. Anyone can help me figure out how to solve this problem? It looks weird not to have sound from speakers and headphones.
Thanks for your help guys!
Nuno

If there is still no sound even after flashing a new ROM then it's likely a hardware fault
Maybe something inside the headphone socket has broken and is disconnecting the speakers like it should when headphones are connected, but also not working for the headphones because it is damaged
Try pushing headphones in and out of the socket a few times fast to try free the moving connectors inside, or see if you can use a thin piece of plastic to make sure nothing is snapped or stuck inside the socket

Sory but I have explained myself wrong: the headphones connection indicator in only shown when I connect headphones (they don't even play any sound at all)
Is there any app or something that can be run in order to check if it is an hardware fault?

Yes I understand, but there could be a fault inside the headphone socket stoping the speakers working, I don't know of any apps that can look for hardware faults but as you have flashed a new ROM id say it is almost definitely hardware causing the problem unless you didn't wipe everything in recovery
Try wiping everything and flash a new rom 100% clean

Speaker phone problem

hello.
i have a problem with my universal:
i can't get my speaker phone to work (the phone doesn't ring, and no sound can be heard (media player or any program)
the speaker located in the lcd works, so i can hear when i talk with someone
i temporarly changed both speakers with 2 that work, and there is the same problem.
i changed the rom, but no change
anyone have any ideeas about what the problem is ? (and perhaps a solution ?)
thank you.
maybe an internal bus break if you tested the connections with known working speakers

I occasionally get this problem after I've used the headphone socket - it's as though the socket gets stuck and thinks that there's still a jack in there, and so mutes the external speakers. I find that pushing the kacj in again, giving it a wiggle, and pulling it out normally does the trick.
Cheers,
Steve.

i've just tried this with some headphones (i hear normally through them), but wiggling and pulling it doesnt do the trick
a broken bus? there's no way to fix it without a lot of expertise, knowledge and specialized equipment. Sorry...
the experience part is the one thing that i need
so.... the broken bus thing.... is a hardware problem that an authorised service can fix (for a lot of money, of course), but is fixable, right ?
thanks

i do the same thing try a few times till you succeed try to pull the jack as though it is stuck
i've used a multimeter and found that the microswitch works fine, so unfortunatly that isn't the problem
Same fixed problem
I had this same problem, is the 3.5 mm jack, I fixed it by opening the uni.
Saludos
thanks. solve the problem.

No sound via headphone jack or speaker: Stock JB

I picked up this phone from a frustrated buddy. It has no sound via headphone jack or speaker. I installed PowerAmp, so that I could tell if the headphone jack was detecting the headphones, and it is. It originally had GB, but I upgraded to JB stock via Kies and the problem persists. He did a factory reset before he gave it to me to tinker with.
Oddly enough, the in call ear speaker works fine! When I put the call on speakerphone, I get no audio, so I assume that uses the rear speaker also?
It's a really cool little phone, so I'd like to get it working. I'm guessing it's hardware, and I have no problem tearing down a phone (I've replaced glass before on numerous phones for friends). Any ideas where to start? I see both the headphone jack assembly and the lower speaker assemblies are both available reasonably. I'm inclined to just replace the rear speaker assembly, but kinda stumped as to why the headphone jack doesn't provide any audio, so maybe that's not the way to go. Anyone have any tips on where to start, based on my diagnosis?
Start with flashing back to stock UCMC1 ROM using Odin. Many times Samsung Kies attempt to "upgrade" leaves some things behind and it doesn't do a clean install.
Even after you flash with Odin you still have to go to recovery and wipe/factory reset data and cache.
Links to how to use Odin, where to get stock ROM and restore to stock are all in stickies and threads for newbies by Vincom in this forum under development tag.
Please read well before attempt.

OK, I flashed JB stock ROM via Odin, but same issue persists. Seems like it's hardware, so anyone have an idea what to replace next?
So both bottom speakers (speaker phone) and headphone jack produce no sound? But the ear piece does. Correct?

Yes. The only speaker that makes sound is the ear piece during calls. The headphone jack produces no discernible output, nor does the 'loudspeaker' on the back, for lack of a better term! I assume there is a boot-up sound, like my AT&T Note, but it's dead silent at boot too, which jives with the other symptoms.
Hope that helps!

This is one of those strange things ... any waterdamage signs?
I'm thinking try factory reseting from recovery (wipe everything), and then also flash stock JB I727UCMC1 using Odin.
That should rule out all of the software things we wonder.

I did these earlier, but had no luck. I did open the phone and have ordered a lower speaker assembly for $8. I didn't see any water damage in the lower half of the phone when I cracked it open. If this doesn't fix it, I may splurge and spend $6 to try the headphone jack. If THAT doesn't work, I'm going to part it out

Speaker phone mic issue

I have been trying to solve an issue with the top microphone while using speaker phone. The mic is working but I have to talk right into it to get it to pick up audio and then it is still very quite and distorted on the receivers end. I have verified there is nothing blocking the pin hole. I have tried full wipe, stock and custom roms with no luck. Now starting to look at the Mixer paths to see if I can boost the sensitivity, but not sure what setting to look for. I have tried changing settings in build.prop, did not help. Any suggestions or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated. Mainly trying to get this working because of Skype, (maybe change mixer-path to use bottom mic).
Issues seemed to start after android 6.
Thanks
Has the phone ever been dropped or disassembled?
Yes, I have taken it apart to verify there is nothing blocking the mic. I am sure I have dropped it as well, no physical damage.
Try the ribbon connection to see they are all seated properly
no luck, cables are good, Top mic is directly connected to main board. Thing that gets me is it is working, but it seems to not be picking up sounds very well.

Buzzing and crackling noise from speaker

So I just got CM13 up and running, everything was fine until I opened Youtube and started playing a video. When the volume is low I hear a constant buzz (something like a static sound) and some crackling noises here and there (the sound gets a little distorted too). When I max the volume I can't really tell if it's still there or not. The material that's playing overpowers the buzzes. Also it's not happening only on youtube. I hear the same noises on every app that produces sound. I tried fiddling with the included EQ in CM but no luck. Is my speaker by any chance starting to break or what is happening? This and the glorious 1.5 SOT I get from a full charge make this phone better and better >_>... Yay!
Does it happen on stock?
Hmm... I don't really know. I only noticed it today so I can't give an answer.
If the problem occurs with a stock ROM, it could be a hardware issue.
So I flashed stock and the problem is still the same. Should I replace my speaker module? I found one here, but in the title it says it is for the D820 model (I have D821). In spite of this, judging from the part number (EAB62971502) and what it showed on Encompass it should be for D821. I don't know what to say. Are the modules compatible between D820 and D821?
I have the same problem, on every rom, no matter what media is playing. Replaced speaker, didin't change anything
@aciupapa So you say it could be something else besides the speaker? That doesn't sound very good at all...

I think that it could be that some contact points on the USB flex cable (which is the part for connecting LCD, usb cable . mic and speaker) may be vroken or something :/
Won't be able to isolate the exact problem without spare parts.
Simplest solution may be to replace speaker and see what happens.
And about the part numbers and the compatibility thing I wrote previously what do you think?
I believe the parts are the same, the only difference between the 820 and 821 being the radio frequencies.

Audio problems

Soo i just recently bought the phone and i got no idea what's wrong with the audio. It can be on lowest setting and you can still hear it loud out of the headphones like it's on atleast half volume plus if its quiet i can hear very loud static/crackling/buzzing/glitching/ sound like there is something short circuiting inside.. if i turn the volume up it disapears but then it murders my ears tried with 3 diffrent headphones on pc those all work flawless but on the phone on the other hand only 1 pair has clear sound the rest has that weird glitch sound no mods stock rom noticed that when listening to music its relatively ok the most it affects videos youtube etc. So any idea why it's like mega loud on lowest setting possible and where the weird static comes out?
Try Cleaning the headphone jack maybe you've got some dirt in there.. ( use something like a thin paper clip I tried to clean it with earbuds in my redmi1s ended up damaging the headphone jack)
Also for getting low volume
Try using precise volume to get extra low volume ... (Works great for me)

Thanks for the reply so precise volume indeed does lower the vol nicely tho the glitching/buzzing/crackling weird sound only gets louder the quieter it is. The phone is new so i doubt its the dirty jack tho i claned it anyway just to be sure problem still presists
The buzzing sound is actually mostly due to improper contact in headphone jack .... I've noticed it I'm my old phone (redmi 1s) which I had popped open several times
I fixed it on my old phone by just ripping everything apart , fixing the contact pins(as I mentioned I damaged it by trying to clean it with a earbud) to touch the connectors on my headphones' cable , reassembled it
Worked fine.... But wouldn't recommend it as
1. Phones these days can't be popped open like the old ones
2. High chance You might end up damaging the audio jack further ( if you decide to adjust it with a pin)
Better you get it replaced if covered in warranty or Maybe if it doesn't matter that much , go ahead with a paper clip / pin....
BTW responding late because I've got some exams coming so trying to reduce internet usage time a bit
