[WARNING] CWM 4.0.1.5 battery dont charge while phone is power off (for some people)

hello
just to say that with ClockworkMod 4.0.1.5 the phone dont charge the battery when is power off.
thanks
EDIT:
tried to charge with phone off, and work. (with some energy on battery)
but i did had the problem, because i drain the battery to ZERO, and with ZERO battery couldn't charge
Mine does. I did it last night. I drained my new battery dry. And charged it last night with power off because I couldnt even turn it on the battery was so dead. Woke up this morning to a fully charged battery.
My phone does it too.
Same here, mines fine
Keep fastboot checked!!!
+4 works fine here.
OP, please change the title of your thread to "doesn't work for ME (or some people)" as it is misleading.

Defeats the point of wanting to turn the phone off. I prefer to turn it off when I tell it to! Having said that, I never turn my phone off so isn't an issue
+5, works for me too.
didnt work for me...
I drained my battery completely, when I plug it in, the led flashing 11 times last 3 flashes are slow then goes dark.
put it 8h on wall charger, and didnt work...
i had to use this --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198585
This just happened to me. Kept blinking heaps. So unplugged phone, boot it and instantly plugged in charger and worked after.

I just had my phone at 73% and powered it off and even booted into HBOOT to make sure it was off then pulled the battery. Plugged it in and the orange light came on and stayed on for a bit. I then pulled it after about 10 minutes and powered up the phone, and I was up to 84%
Why do so many people insist on charging the phone while its off? I've never understood this.I have had many devices and have NEVER powered them off to charge, never had to replace any batteries either?

I think its because it charges faster when its off. (idk it could be placebo ) I only charge mine when it is off when it dies. So is it safe to say that the issue is fixed ?

Yeah. I think it does charges but then theres no light. and you can't turn it on while it's plugged in ):
I've never let my battery die tbh, Always carry a 10cm micro usb lead with me as i always have access to a usb port
I did last night on purpose because I am testing an after market battery.
I let my battery died completely last night. When i charge it, it just blink like 5 times, and stopped. So i took off the battery and use a different charger to charge it. The orange light turned on for like 5 sec and disappeared. I thought it just need a little charge. I left the charge overnight. I tried to turn on the phone when i woke up, but it didnt work. I took the cable off, then take out battery and pput it back in. And the phone turns on and fully charged. So I guess the phone does charge, but the indicator light is not just working.

Weird battery glitch.

So, got this weird glitch. I'll have say 30% of my battery left and I'll power cycle and suddenly I'll have something like 4% left. And power cycling doesn't help or anything. And plugging it in just charges it from that 4%. Anybody got anything?

Just thought about this. I should probably let you know I'm on the latest official stock.

Im runnings the official Roger's GB ROM on my Infuse ATM and I've had similar issues. Mine goes a bit deeper though.
When I first got the phone, it wouldn't charge to 100%, whether it be on or off. When the phone finally charged to 100%, the second you unplug it, the battery widget I had and the built in battery meter on the phone said it was at 80%.
While using the battery, it would drain, sometimes suddenly dropping from 40% to 10%. The only way to get the phone to charge to 100% while its off is to charge it for about 8 hours or overnight. Even then, upon bootup, the phone read anywhere between 80%-85%
This is the OEM battery. Im going to try my luck with a battery off eBay that claims to be "OEM", but so far charging for 7 hours straight with the phone off, it wasn't able to reach 100%.
So im hoping it's not the phone itself. Ive charged the phone with various charges, usb cords, and used juice plotter to keep track of things. Definitely something fishy going on because my graphs always show a sudden jump from 85% to 100% in a span of less than a minute =\

I don't think it's b/c of the rom your on, happened to me when my phone was stock. I tried to let it die, but once it hit zero percent, it just kept going till the "true" battery percent was drained. Im on S7 now and it still happens occasionally..

[Q] How do i get my phone to power on ?

My phone was charging at 1% and then it just died and it won't turn back on now. Ive tried everything. Battery Pulls..tried Booting into recovery with just charger plugged in wont work.
Im running ICS :/
just let it charge for more then 10 minutes hold down power for maybe 10 seconds just give it time

Try pulling the battery out, and leave it out for about 5-10 minutes and then put it back and try to turn it on again and see if that works.

I have to say i was having the same issue today. I installed the latest AOKP MS4 from Whitehawkx yesterday (excellent ROM).

Are you overclocking/undervolting? If yes, then stop.
Otherwise change your battery.
Do this, preferably with a clean/new ROM install.
When the phone dies, charge it for 1-2 minutes just enough for you to enter recovery and clear battery stats.
Once battery stats are cleared power off the phone and leave it off and let it charge while you sleep.
When you wake up, power on the phone and use it normally until it dies. Do not reboot the phone during this time.
When the phone has died again, leave it off to charge fully again, once this second charge is done you are now free to use your phone as normal.
Some people claim clearing battery stats does nothing, and may be true. But I have always done my charging this way and it may be why all my phones still have the stock battery with excellent battery life.
Its also best to do this at night when you are asleep to let it charge all the way.

If you haven't already, try another charger.
Don't think you can actually "force" it on if the battery is damaged.

Yep, even with inbuilt safeguards, there is risk of permanent battery damage if totally drained.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
I read somewhere that if it goes flat under a certain amount you cant charge it from the wall charger as it needs a little bit of power in the battery to activate the charging circuitry on the board..
if anynoe else gets this problem i think you have to pop out the screen to asccess the battery and charge manually then replace it.
also it can go into deep sleep...
you can wake it up from deep sleep by plugging in 2a wall charger and holding power button for 15 secs then you will get the battery charging icon.
