Try pulling the battery out, and leave it out for about 5-10 minutes and then put it back and try to turn it on again and see if that works.

I have to say i was having the same issue today. I installed the latest AOKP MS4 from Whitehawkx yesterday (excellent ROM).
I pulled the battery for about 10 minutes and it worked.

Weird battery glitch.

So, got this weird glitch. I'll have say 30% of my battery left and I'll power cycle and suddenly I'll have something like 4% left. And power cycling doesn't help or anything. And plugging it in just charges it from that 4%. Anybody got anything?

Just thought about this. I should probably let you know I'm on the latest official stock.

Im runnings the official Roger's GB ROM on my Infuse ATM and I've had similar issues. Mine goes a bit deeper though.
When I first got the phone, it wouldn't charge to 100%, whether it be on or off. When the phone finally charged to 100%, the second you unplug it, the battery widget I had and the built in battery meter on the phone said it was at 80%.
While using the battery, it would drain, sometimes suddenly dropping from 40% to 10%. The only way to get the phone to charge to 100% while its off is to charge it for about 8 hours or overnight. Even then, upon bootup, the phone read anywhere between 80%-85%
This is the OEM battery. Im going to try my luck with a battery off eBay that claims to be "OEM", but so far charging for 7 hours straight with the phone off, it wasn't able to reach 100%.
So im hoping it's not the phone itself. Ive charged the phone with various charges, usb cords, and used juice plotter to keep track of things. Definitely something fishy going on because my graphs always show a sudden jump from 85% to 100% in a span of less than a minute =\

I don't think it's b/c of the rom your on, happened to me when my phone was stock. I tried to let it die, but once it hit zero percent, it just kept going till the "true" battery percent was drained. Im on S7 now and it still happens occasionally..

[Q] Battery cold/not charging & phone won't boot

Went to sleep last night with phone running perfectly fine, battery around 35% when I put on charger, woke up this morning phone was off and would not boot up even though it was on the charger. I took the battery out and it is quite cold for some reason, it is 85 degrees in this house but the battery feels like its been sitting in the refrigerator. I have been trying for about an hour now to get the battery to charge or the phone to turn on with no luck any ideas anyone -_-
Plug into computer does it get recognized, plug in without battery and try to get it in to software mode...

It gets recognized only if it plug it in without the battery. I don't really know how to boot it into S/W Upgrade without the battery inside unless I'm flashing a recovery, which I still seem to be able to do.
Bad battery then, try holding the battery in place firmly against the prongs just in case.

Battery Meter Always Showing 100%

I've had my phone on with the brightness turned up for the past few hours and it's showing 100%. What's weird is that this morning it was showing 60% or so and after a reboot it's now stuck at 100%. I'm on Terasek's CM7 and Faux 050 Kernel. Any ideas?
Have you tried another reboot and/or plugging it in to charge and then unplugging it? If not I would try that first. Otherwise, you may want to do a titanium backup and re-flashing whatever rom you are using.

I've rebooted several times, and plugging it in doesn't charge since the phone thinks it's already at 100%.
Have you tried plugging it in with the battery out and holding power while you put the battery in? May spoof it into charging.

The problem is the meter always showing 100%. It won't charge unless the phone thinks it's under 100%.
Another alternative may be to run it until it dies.

I would try to clear cache and re flash the kernel. It sounds like an issue of the old DS kernels where the display would be a weird % but the battery would last longer than usual.
Try toggling Airplane Mode On and Off... That should fix your problem.
Oh great, now it won't turn on anymore. I toggled airplane mode and it went to 6% and then died. Now it won't turn back on regardless of plugging it in.

What's weird is that the phone won't even turn on with the battery out and plugged into the charger. I just got this thing from Ebay a few days ago and also noticed that the screen in the upper right is lifting up too along with a bunch of dust under the screen.

When I emailed the buyer about not stating the clump of dust in the middle of the screen he said it can't be noticed when the screen is on even though you can see the dust ion the pic he posted on the listing page. No mention of the screen lifting either. It's back on now, but I can't help but think that it might not turn on again. Battery percent is working fine now that airplane mode is off. So with airplane mode on the battery percent doesn't work?

(Q) Only charges with battery pull

As the title says. I gave my girlfriend my sgs4g a few months ago. Put stock rooted firmware on it. A few days ago the phone will only charge if I pull the battery put it back in then plug in charger ac or usb on computer. I have tried different batteries one from my vibrant, sgs2. Switched kernals also just to see if it would help but it didnt.

Try making a hardware reset :
Pull battery off, wait 10 minutes, press power button for 15 seconds, then wait another 15 minutes, now put battery back on and power on.

I'll try this when I get home

Battery discharging while OFF while on plane.

I got on a plane heading from New Orleans to San Francisco via Las Vegas. I turned my phone off just before boarding and didn't turn it on again until I landed in San Francisco. My battery was nearly fully charged as It had only been off the charger for about an hour and I wasn't using it. When I turned it on in San Francisco 7 hours later, it was nearly dead, with only 20% charge. I definitely saw the power off animation. It was definitely off when I took it out of my pocket, but the battery use told me the screen had used up most of the charge. What the hell happened? Has this happened to anyone else?
As a precaution, on the return flight I pulled the battery after powering down. I did not have any battery drain on the flight home after the battery pull.
Maybe the shutdown animation took a very long time and kept the screen on.
I have never heard of this, so I have no idea.
I've had this happen to me a few times. I power off my (fully charged) Charge at night before going up to bed and when I come back down in the morning and power up (and it goes through the power up cycle) I find I have limited battery left. I haven't tried to track down what is happening since I simply replace the battery with a fully charged one and continue on with my day.
I found that I had some file on my SD Card was draining my battery.

I don't suppose you remember which file that would have been.
So when the Charge is powered off it really isn't powered off?

It is truly off when powered down.

I think it's just a glitch of the battery meter. Either it was lying to you when it was full or lying when it was 20%. If it doesn't happen on a regular basis then the battery should be fine, right?
I think we've all had it happen (at least to me a few times) where I switch out batteries that I know have been charged and the phone says that it's dead. The solution I found was to take the battery out and try to power it on, then put it back in or put in the fresh one. I don't know why, but it seems to get rid of some sort of bad juju.

Actually when my phone glitches out and reboots sometimes it shows the battery level more than 50% below what it used to be when it died. A glitch in the kernel that reports the battery level could be the culprit.

No, I just went purging of files, I don't use.
