[Q] How to make a USB jig for galaxy s3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Will a homemade USB jig boot my hard bricked galaxy s3 into download mode? Also, what are some ways to charge my phone battery without using the phone. (Hard bricked doesn't let you charge)

Usb jig will not work in your situation.
Use this to fix your hard brick, there's no point in charging your battery if it can't turn on in the first place. You need all the correct equipment or send it in for a jtag repair.
Also use the correct debrick image. There's one for 4.3 and another for 4.1.

No fastboot. only gets to the white splash screen. Was unlocked with cwrm but froze up while wiping. Can't get coms with adb.
Asus sounds like they will fix it but need the SN for RMA.
Thanks heaps for the interest and help!

No Dice with the SN. How difficult is a main board change?
Will I un-brick the tablet if I replace the main board with a new one? I have found them on line for 100$. I was not certain if there's more than one board in the tablet that could be the culprit.
Cheers,
Feend

how did you buy the unit?
a bunch of really wild ideas but worth a shot.
your receipts might have it on them.. or maybe the company you bought it from if they took down your name/etc they might have the serial also.
im not sure on this one but maybe a visa/mastercard statement if you paid via that ?

[Q] hard brick after twrp reboot

I hard bricked my schi535 after installing rootbox-JB-t0llt-x.x
I had tried a couple of rootbox roms they all did the same thing. I never got past the first screen. I could get back into twrp and flash my 4.1.1 rom. Last attempt was probably a wrong phone
Is there a way back?

T0llt is a s4 ROM I believe. You may have screwed up the partitions. If you can get it into download mode or a recovery then you should be okay. I would Odin back to stock.

No, a USB jig won't work in this case.
Mobile Tech Videos seems to be reliable. Other users have suggested an eBay source that was only $30. Just look around the forums and see if anything useful comes up.

4.4.2 downgrade to 4.1.2 - Possible?

Hello everyone,
I have a SCH-I535 running 4.4.2 that I bricked last night after running ez-unlocker (attempting to modify the bootload) and just got it back to work after using a debrick image... I would like to know if it is possible to downgrade back to JB 4.1.2? and if so how will accomplish this since it is not letting me bypass the odin process due to a recovery failed error...
Thank you very much!

Wait a week or so. I had an idea the other day and we are just now trying to put it to the test. It may unlock the bootloader, who knows! The method works on Motorola phones with the Qualcomm msm8960 chips. And guess what. The s3 has the same chip. And the exploit was directed towards that chip.

Still testing and digging! But I feel like our efforts are fruitless, as I am no developer and I feel like my friend and I's ideas have been thought of and tested and failed. I do not want to bring any hopes up. But it's starting to look more and more possible. Just be patient

That link has been posted in these forums before. That downgrade only works on the i9300 international version, not the i535 Verizon version. The screenshot in the article you linked even shows the about phone as the i9300. This article you linked is from 8 months ago. If this worked on the Verizon version it would have been all over these forums. The article you linked even mentions how trying this process resulted in hard bricks on the AT&T version. Anyone trying this on the Verizon version will suffer the same fate.

You posted a link without even reading the details contained inside? Not a good practice. Plenty of new people who would read your description, click on the link, follow the suggestion contained in the article without also looking into the details, and brick their phone. I removed the link from my quote of you. You may want to consider removing the link from your previous post. Just saying.

JTAG stands for joint test action group, which is essentially a common IEEE serial port located on the motherboard of many devices. In a phones case, a Riff box is used to access the port and flash device specific files to the motherboard directly, thus eliminating the need for the phone to be on or functioning in the first place.
In this case, the jtag port is used to write to the emmc chip directly to override the system check and flash earlier firmware.
You can on the S4 but you need MDK firmware, you're better off asking in the S4 forum.

Only way is by paying $50. Verizon will do no such thing. Verizon only releases sim unlocked phones, Verizon has never provided a bootloader unlock service.
