Why do you need it?
Why is it bricked? What can you do? Fastboot yes or no? Recovery yes or now? ADB yes or no?
Which bootloader are you on. Which Rom was the last. What have you done that bricked it ..........

In the box with user warranty booklet thing you should find another sticker with SN

No fastboot. only gets to the white splash screen. Was unlocked with cwrm but froze up while wiping. Can't get coms with adb.
Asus sounds like they will fix it but need the SN for RMA.
Thanks heaps for the interest and help!

No Dice with the SN. How difficult is a main board change?
Will I un-brick the tablet if I replace the main board with a new one? I have found them on line for 100$. I was not certain if there's more than one board in the tablet that could be the culprit.
Cheers,
Feend

how did you buy the unit?
a bunch of really wild ideas but worth a shot.
your receipts might have it on them.. or maybe the company you bought it from if they took down your name/etc they might have the serial also.
im not sure on this one but maybe a visa/mastercard statement if you paid via that ?

[Q] Model #?

I just got my TF and I want to root it. I see that people are saying B70 and 80 have trouble rooting. How exactly do I check which I have?
It's not a model number it's your serial number.
Look at the bottom of your tablet near the charging port or on the back of the box that it came in.
Found it
I checked under the tablet. Its a B70
Quick ?: What would happen if i were to try using the root toolkit? Would it just say that it cannot root or would it brick the tab?

[Q] Should I send in my Infinity?

Hey guys!
Ive bee having these problems with my tablet (lag, slow, etc) and i have done EVERYTHING Cold Boot, Factory Reset and the Firmware updates don't fix anything!
I have contacted ASUS and they said that it was a HARDWARE problem and they gave me a RMA to send it in. Should I send it in? Would they do anything?
Thanks!
Im also new to the forum so thanks!
Yes! If Asus acknowledges a hardware problem and your tab is still under warranty - what have you got to loose??
Your only alternative would be to unlock the bootloader, root and flash a custom rom, loosing your warranty in the process. Plus - if you actually have a hardware problem, no custom rom could fix it.
So send it in and hope for the best!

Hey thanks for the reply, I contacted ASUS again, and explained it in depth a little more, and they said it was the motherboard so I am going to send it in and hope for the best!
[Sorry I double posted!]
Definitely send it in. While at the facility, they can run tests on the device and they can refer back to the troubleshooting that was already done with the phone support. If it deemed a bad MB, than it will be replaced. They will figure out the best solution.

[Q] Brick

Hi , my tf700 is bricked, there is no way to unbrick it?
i cant get to recovery, only apx and i don't know what is nvflash backup.
I don't think there is a way you could unbrick it (except for a MB replacement!)
We on the tf300t forum are also having this problem when flashing something wrong! APX mode is pretty much worthless!

You can't buy a motherboard yourself you have to send it to ASUS and let it be replaced! the price: depending on how big your storage is!: around the same price as buying a new tablet! so you are better of by buying a new tablet

Out of curiosity, I just wander if Asus actually replaces the Motherboard because there is nothing wrong with the motherboard except a screw up bootloader. You can JTAG or hardwire the EPROM and flash it with a good binary file.

What I wrote above is more of a question rather than answer for you. Hopefully, some experienced user see it and have a solution for you. With this method, you need to have a knowledge of both software and hardware of your device in order to save it. The first technical problem is where can you find a working bootloader binary file so that you can serial proggram it back into your rom. I would recommend that you take your device to a local computer shop to see if they can fix it for you with a lower cost. You can also search on ebay to see if anyone sell a working rom for your device so that you can replace it by yourself. Good luck.

Unlocking bootloader

Whenever I try to use the Asus unlocked tool to unlock my device it just says" an unknown error happend" i''ve been searching on this and couldn't find any thing helpful, I tried a tons of times over some weeks, haven't had any luck. Tried to factory reset it for then trying again. Tried to write to Asus ans they said they didn't offer support on this topic. Tried on different networks. So my question is now... Are there any other way than using the Asus tool?

Thanks for the link contacted Asus, it appears the place I brought my tablet from had used it as a demo device and they had actually sent it in to repair before I brought it, and Asus forgot to change the device Id after changing the motherboard... So have to send it in one of the coming days

Unlocking Bootloader
Does anybody know of a work around the device unlock tool? Does Odin work? Downgrade to ICS then unlocking the bootloader?

No - you have to use the Asus Unlock tool, there is nothing els (Odin is for Samsung) - what is your objection to it?

My objection is that it doesn't work, for me and many others. I wouldn't have an issue if it worked. Just trying to get my device unlocked.

There are 2 reasons I'm aware of for it to fail:
1. Your firewall/router doesn't allow the port. I have seen people fix it by tethering to their phone, etc
2. Your Mac address is not registered to the mother board serial number in the Asus database. Call them, get on their VIP site and tell them to fix it. Lots of people have had success.

If you contact them, I would not tell them that you want to unlock. Some users have been successful anyway, but some ran into a wall of: We do not support unlocking. Seems to depend on which rep you talk to.
Tell them you can't register for device tracker and can't get OTA updates. And please report back if and how you were successful - or not....
can't unlock the tf700t bootloader
hi, ... sorry for asking again ... i'm not able to unlock my tf700t. i really tried every method i found in this forum ... there should be a method without that unlock tool?! what is asus doing with that unlock tool?! do they send a new bootloader to install?! would it be possible to install an already unlocked and copied bootloader from one tf700t to another?!
here my little history, i was getting my device from amazon 2 years ago, there was also trouble to register this device with asus, but with help of the support i could do the registration. after that i installed all the official updates till 10.6.1.14.10, but getting pissed by the behaviour of the tablet with some pauses and sudden freezes and working again after thinking about whatoever ... so i wanted to try another rom with a hopefully better and smoother behaviour of the tablet. found that nice thing called unlock tool what i should need for unlocking the bootloader. running that tool since half year daily without success! i also opend a lot of support issues by asus, with the last answer "... it should work now, if not please send in the tablet". i can't believe that this should be the only way ...
so tried a lot: downgraded to v10.4.4.18 including full wipe of all data from two years and my little one is not happy about that ... tried v7 of unlock tool, no success! (with no other apps installed) upgraded again to v10.6.14.8, tried with v8 of unlock tool. not working! currently that's my status, plus additionally i rooted the device with motochopper and throw away some of the asus preinstalled crap ... i'm able to find my device via the asus device tracker, the device is registered with asus, but the unlock is impossible ... it freaks me out ...
so is there an option to have the locked bottloader overwritten with root permissions with an unlocked one?! and second where to get that unlocked one?! ...
thanks for an answer!

TF700T Unlock apk

Hoping someone can help here. Have unlocked my pad a few months ago but now have another one to unlock. Been onto the Asus support site and can see various unblock files but they seen to be for the 701 or the 300, except for some which don't specify a model at all. Does anyone know which will work of anyone have a copy of the we one for JB?
Cheers all

Yes it's there, I am suffering from premature senility and confusion as I was convinced that last time I downloaded it the header said for specific SKUs and model names.
One follow up question you guys may be able to help me with...
This is to replace an inifinity that I have just sold as it didnt have a dock. That one is running Cromix 5.4 (not F2FS) and the guy who's bought it wants to downgrade it back to stock (no idea why, but am sure he will want to go back, once he's run it for a short time), does he need to reflash the firmware for the original SKU (ie the US one) or can he use WW now?

He should use the US one if that is his SKU. Just flash the zip in the zip in recovery.
