LG Pro 2 coming to America? - LG G Pro 2

Anyone know?
I really want to get this device. Loved the G2 but felt it was a bit small compared to my Note 3.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app

I heard in April it should be coming out in America but that was only a rumor. I can decide if I should wait for this phone or get the note 3 now?!

I've just picked up the Korean variant of the LG G Pro 2, and it's a great phone. Good weight, beautiful screen, and although it's plastic, I really like the color and pattern on the back.
I'm just posting for those who are debating between a Note 3 or G Pro 2. Unless it's not being launched in the states, I would definitely wait for the G Pro 2.

Hello I am interested in getting the LG Gpro 2 korean version. Two quick questions. Korean phones usually have an 80 character SMS limit. Did yours have this limit?
Also because the phone thinks you are roaming outside of Korea it will display dual clocks on the lock screen. Has that happened to you?
Many thanks for your help!

Hi Pacman, I have the F350 K variant. The SMS limit is 140 now (my previous Korean G2 indeed had that 80 character limit), not sure why the change. As for the dual clocks on the lock screen, it's still there. I'm rooted though, so there's a method to disable that.
Other than the fact that xposed doesn't support LG's with kitkat, this phone is amazing - definitely the fastest and smoothest Android I've ever used. I just wish that I could adjust the pixel density as the screen real estate isn't maximized in my opinion. But I guess once xposed starts working that can be fixed too.
Hope this helps!

How's the camera

@Former - There are already loads of posts on that in other threads as well as on YouTube. Check them out.

Sorry, I'm based out in Asia so I wouldn't know if the bands work for AT&T. I do believe, but am NOT SURE, that all the S and K versions of Korean LG phones work worldwide while the L versions do not.

Wish T-Mobile would sell this one. It was a shame T-Mobile didn't sell G Pro as it's much cheaper than Note 2 but the performance is comparable.

FYI, talked to local Tmo store and they said they'll carry it for sure. No specific info.
So, take this with a grain of salt...

I got g pro 2 d838 for while. Light wight, big screen, just fit ut pocket. Only bad news is 3rd party app can't save or writing its data into the external sd,. Otherwise, everything is outstanding.

Anyone heard any updates on when the LG G 2 Pro is coming to the US and on what carriers?

Just looking for some insight on phones coming out. I love my nexus s 4g. The gs3 sounds good.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda app-developers app
From all the phones I've used, I liked the Galaxy Nexus most (although I do prefer the Nexus S for being able to use UMS transfer mode, having higher sound quality and not having an oversized screen).
Selling my Nexus and buying the S3 was one of the decision I regretted due to:
-not getting fast updates and variates of stock roms like the Nexus
-poor built quality, even comparing to the Galaxy Nexus
-the stock Jelly Bean on the Nexus was a better and smoother experience for me than Touchwiz on a quadcore processor.
Seems like you are on Sprint, I heard the CDMA version of Galaxy Nexus have very poor radio so skip that, not to mention they always get updates a few months later than the GSM version. But if you do plan to get another Samsung phone, such as a CMDA S3, ask in their forum first if they have any signal issues.
So maybe the S3 is your best choice if you don't mind the built quality. The renamed HTC One X for Sprint may be a good choice, but honestly I am used to how open and easy it is to root and unlock Samsung phones, I can't deal with HTC and Sense, but I know I'm biased.
Rumor is Google will announce the new LG Nexus the end of October, but I guess its too late by then and the CDMA version if available would probably be till next year anyway. The LG Optimus G is supposed to have excellent built quality. Sprint will be selling it, it's basically a flagship device, the the Qualcomm S4 Pro chip is supposed to be super fast, they'll be a 13MP camera (for Sprint model, AT&T is 8MP), 32gb of storage, 2GB ram, etc. It seems like people like to slate the LG brand, but on paper it looks like a very compelling device.
Or maybe its time to move to GSM network where there are more choices to choose from. I'm looking to move away from Samsung too since their built quality of recent phones has really turn me off. I wouldn't blame you if you get an iPhone5 and resell it to get an Android phone and some profit in the process.

This. my next phone will be on a gsm network and will not be purchased from a carrier. I'm tired of my phone being held prisoner. And the part about the CDMA updates is true. Sprint got both ICS and JB several months after t-mo. If you want early updates, this is the carrier to have a subsidized. They get push notifications as soon as google pushes the source to AOSP. Personally I'd still rather buy it from google directly, but there's nothing wrong with a t-mo subsidized device either. The updates will come at the same time.
You can check the review for the LG Optimus G by mobiletechreview on youtube. But it seems the Sprint version won't be available until nov 11th, but preorder open at nov 1st. The ATT version seems better though due to having microsd slot and from experience ATT have faster network and faster LTE too. The Sprint version has 13mp camera though.
If you are used to the Nexus S substantial dev support (after all these freakin' years!) then the only natural path is really the Galaxy Nexus. Even the support for the SII has slowed down. I suspect it will be the same with the S3. I cannot stand mfg overlays like TW or Sense.
Can you hold onto your NS and wait to see what the new Nexus is all about?
I'm waiting for the next Nexus phone -since it should be right around the corner. If it wasn't for that though, I'd be looking at the GSIII, Razr Maxx, or G Nex.

Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
Paranoid Android (2.2.2 - 4.1.2)
Marmite Kernel (5.0 - Bedalus)
Ondemmand (Screen On) (800/100)
Ondemmand (Screen Off) (400/100)
Deep Idle (N/A - CFQ)
BLX (98 - Inverted Apps)
Black Exodus (Stock Voltage)
No doubt that nexus family will continue a tradition with a excelent quality new device.
However my biggest disappointment of nowadays phone development companies is a price of our beloved engineering jewels. Any thoughts. How mutch it will cost? I'm a big enthusiast of high end smartphones but personally not ready to sacrifice my halfmonth salary.

Lg makes great phones. Loved lg! Hate Samsung though. I'm going for either the photon Q(its a monster) or this new nexus. I juuust got my nexus from a friend.... had a Samsung transform. Horrible hardware, phone was verry verrry durable though. Masks sure you test it out before and make sure it doesn't randomly brick like most of today's hardware

You should use more high end Samsung devices beside writing them off, the transform is a very old and low end phone on cdma network. Trying to compare it to the Photon Q is like comparing a Ford Tempo to a Ferrari.
I got it when it was new, actually decent. Ask anyone and they will tell you that the s3 is plasticity. The s2 had a tendency to randomly brick because of the emmc freaking out, that's just to name a few. I wouldn't mind an s3, just saying the quality of Samsung has gone away. And if at all possible I'm going to avoid them, bad, no, horrible track record.

sorry for stealing the scene... i'm going to change my Nexus S in the next few weeks and i narrowed down the list of my wishes to the following 3 phones:
- Gnexus: would have to buy it used around the 300$ mark / will combine with a 2 years contract around 30$+
- Gnote: would buy it for 50$ on 2 years contract (30$)
- HTC One X: would get it for free on 2 years contract (30$)
What would you suggest me? i'm a Flash Addict fallen in love with paranoidandroid and JB and ATM my heart points toward the Gnote

[Q] Moto G 16GB vs LG NExus 4 16GB?

Have preordered Moto G 16GB from amazon uk and still not in stock. So Im looking at used Nexus 4 too at almost same price as Moto G and cant really decide which one will be better?
What will u choose beteen new Moto G or used sold by private persons Nexus 4?
- Batterytime?
- Screen?
- Functions/features?
- Camera? Read that N4 have better camera? How about video recording?
Know that N4 is faster, but mine woman dont care about speed and more about "design" of the phone and she like the violet back I also ordered for Moto G.
Or simple say, which one is prefered for a woman to use and easy to use?

I'd wait for the Moto G, the Nexus 4 is indeed faster, but the design (It's very wide... Not good for small lady hands) is very blocky and prone to breaking (being all glass). Also the screen looks better on the Moto G, and battery life is waay better. Camera's both suck.

Hi,
Just got my wife a moto g, I have a nexus 4.
I ran Antutu benchmark test, and the moto g got a higher score.
Personally, I like my nexus. Its got more ram, a bigger better screen, coloured notification lights and it gets updates quicker (I'm on 4.4).
But... If I were buying another phone now, I'd probably get the moto g. Don't like 2nd hand phones, can be asking for trouble. We paid £129, superb value. A nexus 5 is what? £350?

I was also deciding between the Nexus 4 and the Moto G.Since the 16GB version of the Moto G doesn't ship until mid december, I bought an used Nexus 4 about a week ago to test if it's battery life is good enough for my needs. It had about 3,5h-4,5h SOT during that week and there were several moments in which I wished it had more battery life. Next monday I'm gonna try out the Moto G in a shop and see if it feels as snappy as my Nexus 4. If it does, I'll definitly resell my Nexus4 and buy a Moto G instead.

Nexus 4 software is missing the bionic and dalvik optimizations, Google omits them. Moto includes software patches for the X and G that improve bench scores. Rooted n4 scores 20k+ normally, even as high as 24k.
However I am here about the topic. Recently someone knocked my phone out of my hand and the front glass shattered. The back glass is okay, so the person who said the build quality is bad, is wrong. Mine broke because the other person was moving fast while I was still. I've dropped it before with no damage, but this time was different.

Although the Motorola's phone is a really nice, fast and smooth device, I think the Nexus 4 is a better option if you have any chance to get it.

Welcome aboard.

Just we can collect here our impressions and suggests...

Let's hope the development is a lot easier on this. And I'm kinda disappointed by the smaller screen. I don't think I can go smaller than my current flex. When I hold other phones they feel like little kid phones

I don't think many ppl will jump ship. The Flex 2 will be expensive when it comes out I'm guessing, plus it really is the same as The G3 but curved and bumped up specs which is fantastic for me since I never owned a G3 yet. But for those G3 owners I think they'll wait for other snapdragon 810 phones to come out.

I don't know about that... http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g-flex-2-price-amazon-de-579879/
The LG G Flex 2 was recently unveiled at CES 2015 and comes packing plenty of cutting edge hardware, including LG’s latest flexible display and Qualcomm’s new high-end processor. According to a listing on Amazon.de, the LG G Flex 2 will retail for around €599.99 off-contract. This will probably work out to around $600 in the US, give or take, based on the usual price differences.
This puts the G Flex 2 just on the cheaper side of your typical flagship smartphone and certainly isn’t an unreasonable price for a handset featuring a 5.5-inch 1080p flexible display, 13MP OIS+ camera, Snapdragon 810 processor, and a self-healing cover. However, what isn’t clear is whether this is the 2GB RAM/16GB storage or 3GB RAM/32GB storage variety of the handset, although the price probably suggests the former. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a release date either, although pre-orders are available now via the link.
If you would like a closer look at what the G Flex 2 has to offer for €599.99, check out our coverage of the launch announcement and our time spent going hands-on with the handset at CES.

Thanks, comparing to the Exynos 7420 leaks of S6 it's not dragging behind much, but it does pull the shorter straw in all tests, especially multitasking and CPU integer/float-point. Obviously we have to see how the S6 does in real life later.
Since AnTuTu tests a lot of different areas the result can vary a bit depending on heat, current load on the system etc.

I have the 3G version Gear S on Sprint and had little 'disappointed when the announcements were coming through the device to AT & T, Verizon and US Cellular, but made no mention of Sprint?
I really like 3G connectivity now have, and could not easily return to the possession of a Smart Watch it.
Samsung has a proud history
Richly presented. Poor English by some of the speakers, sometimes making it difficult to understand. The bezel is a no brainier, although I'm sure that we will see improved versions over time. I hope that the processor is up to the task, because it seems that Samsung has had a good product on their hands. There is a vibrant community of wear, and more than 10,000 circular faces of clocks, most of them for free. S2 will be able to keep up? I would like the 3G version, provided that the battery capacity is up to it, but it seems that will be available only in some markets. In addition, Samsung has a proud history of abandon and do not update their products, which makes me hesitate. The clock, however, looks much better in terms of interface than anything else out there right now.

This is actually a good point. I never paid attention to it because I knew I was getting the 3g. Interesting why they took this out. So you won't be able to answer calls from your regular S2? That kinda stinks....

According to this article there will be a speaker but only on the 3G variant: https://www.androidpit.com/samsung-gear-s2-review
Oh crap sold my Gear 2 in readiness but no ability to answer from the watch was very useful for me.
Looks like a possible oct 2nd release with pricing at 300 - 325.

That's good news if true. Cheaper than I thought. Can anyone from Canada confirm this?

Just FYI, I went to bestbuy.ca (as opposed to .com) and the gear s2 information is there.

I would be very disappointed if this is true - since this is one of the few stand out features from the standard crop of Android Wear devices. I like using the Speaker phone feature from the Gear2 Neo - since my phone is not water resistant like the watch...
Maybe there's some sort of misunderstanding between the Samsung press releases and the reviewers? It may be that Samsung is trying to emphasize that the e-sim will allow them to make calls directly instead of going through the phone - like the standard watch model?
Samsung's built in plenty of apps that you'd expect to see on a smartwatch — phone dialer, calculator, music, phone finder, etc.

Also - some of the reviewer pictures show the Phone Dialer icon:

So - unless they were actually looking at the pre-production HW of the 3G models... I'm still hoping that the speaker phone functionality is still there. I guess everyone will find out for sure at the beginning of October.
Another possibility is that the watch might function as the microphone and playback the caller's voice over the phone's speaker? Kinda strange way of doing things.

I looked on the best buy Canada website and it says it does NOT have a built in speaker.

Please note: I'm not trying to say that you are wrong - but at this point, it might be better to wait until the watch has been released and before making a final decision - and to make sure you buy from a store that allows returns in the event that this watch has, indeed lost the speakerphone function.

samsung deal

Was just wondering if you sign up for the next big phone, up to $600, and $50. Will you pay for rest in full or?

well usually when you buy from samsung the rest is owed so id think so...no freebies lol.
carriers obviously will offer to put it on 2 or so year plan with a specific data plan. but ive never heard of electric device companies offering leases. usualy that's the job of the 3rd party resellers to screw you over for a couple of years. but i miggt be wrong.
edit:
so there is something similar but this is evil at its best:
https://www.samsung.com/uk/samsung-upgrade/
you have to keep on paying and paying and each year you get a new device. plus you never own the device and must return it once the new one is released.
I owe $750-ish on my Note 10 so $600 doesn't seem so bad. I signed up just in case I decide to get it. However, the ridiculously high price hikes with each new itteration makes me want to go to one of the 2nd or 3rd-tier manufacturers, so, we'll see...

I will be buying directly from Samsung, $600.00 for my S10 plus or my Note 9, and I have up to 24 months to pay off the rest. Usually I paid off in 2 months, but is good to know that I have the option to pay in 24 months I'd something happens.

Details of the current lender used by Samsung in the UK can be found here https://www.klarna.com/uk/cbrf/consumer/#section-5
The only downside I can see is that they perform a credit screening on application, which can affect your credit score for other credit screenings. Not a big deal for the most part, unless you have any credit issues.
Sold my 7 Pro, picked up a cheap 3 XL for the $600 trade in. Going for the 10 Plus. Unlocked Version 5G hopefully at launch. Outright.

I just placed a "Pre Order" for Note 10+ Aura Glow with a pair of Galaxy Buds as bonus!
Delivery August 21.
The 5g version is Verizon only right? I don't see an option for unlocked N10+ 5G. I really wished the all exynos rumor was true. I can only use Verizon where I am, so I've never been able to buy an exynos phone.
5g version only comes in black?

black, white and the aura color. 256gb or 512gb. it only lets you select verizon for carrier.
