Have preordered Moto G 16GB from amazon uk and still not in stock. So Im looking at used Nexus 4 too at almost same price as Moto G and cant really decide which one will be better?
What will u choose beteen new Moto G or used sold by private persons Nexus 4?
- Batterytime?
- Screen?
- Functions/features?
- Camera? Read that N4 have better camera? How about video recording?
Know that N4 is faster, but mine woman dont care about speed and more about "design" of the phone and she like the violet back I also ordered for Moto G.
Or simple say, which one is prefered for a woman to use and easy to use?

I'd wait for the Moto G, the Nexus 4 is indeed faster, but the design (It's very wide... Not good for small lady hands) is very blocky and prone to breaking (being all glass). Also the screen looks better on the Moto G, and battery life is waay better. Camera's both suck.

Go for the MotoG. I had doubts when got mine, but its fantastic device. No regrets!
I got my Moto G today and my Nexus 4 goes on eBay later! I'm very impressed with the G. It's better than I expected.

Hi,
Just got my wife a moto g, I have a nexus 4.
I ran Antutu benchmark test, and the moto g got a higher score.
Personally, I like my nexus. Its got more ram, a bigger better screen, coloured notification lights and it gets updates quicker (I'm on 4.4).
But... If I were buying another phone now, I'd probably get the moto g. Don't like 2nd hand phones, can be asking for trouble. We paid £129, superb value. A nexus 5 is what? £350?

I wait for Amazon.uk to ship Moto G then. Too bad not gonna get it this year and shipping is after 25 Dec.

I was also deciding between the Nexus 4 and the Moto G.Since the 16GB version of the Moto G doesn't ship until mid december, I bought an used Nexus 4 about a week ago to test if it's battery life is good enough for my needs. It had about 3,5h-4,5h SOT during that week and there were several moments in which I wished it had more battery life. Next monday I'm gonna try out the Moto G in a shop and see if it feels as snappy as my Nexus 4. If it does, I'll definitly resell my Nexus4 and buy a Moto G instead.

Nexus 4 software is missing the bionic and dalvik optimizations, Google omits them. Moto includes software patches for the X and G that improve bench scores. Rooted n4 scores 20k+ normally, even as high as 24k.
However I am here about the topic. Recently someone knocked my phone out of my hand and the front glass shattered. The back glass is okay, so the person who said the build quality is bad, is wrong. Mine broke because the other person was moving fast while I was still. I've dropped it before with no damage, but this time was different.

Never heard about that webpage and after read about it. It doesnt ship international either and I dont live in UK. It doesnt have in stock either 16GB version and with Borderlinx. Total cost will be the same anyway.
I just received a Moto G for my friend and did some pics while setting it up compared to my Nexus 4.

Although the Motorola's phone is a really nice, fast and smooth device, I think the Nexus 4 is a better option if you have any chance to get it.

Just looking for some insight on phones coming out. I love my nexus s 4g. The gs3 sounds good.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda app-developers app
From all the phones I've used, I liked the Galaxy Nexus most (although I do prefer the Nexus S for being able to use UMS transfer mode, having higher sound quality and not having an oversized screen).
Selling my Nexus and buying the S3 was one of the decision I regretted due to:
-not getting fast updates and variates of stock roms like the Nexus
-poor built quality, even comparing to the Galaxy Nexus
-the stock Jelly Bean on the Nexus was a better and smoother experience for me than Touchwiz on a quadcore processor.
Seems like you are on Sprint, I heard the CDMA version of Galaxy Nexus have very poor radio so skip that, not to mention they always get updates a few months later than the GSM version. But if you do plan to get another Samsung phone, such as a CMDA S3, ask in their forum first if they have any signal issues.
So maybe the S3 is your best choice if you don't mind the built quality. The renamed HTC One X for Sprint may be a good choice, but honestly I am used to how open and easy it is to root and unlock Samsung phones, I can't deal with HTC and Sense, but I know I'm biased.
Rumor is Google will announce the new LG Nexus the end of October, but I guess its too late by then and the CDMA version if available would probably be till next year anyway. The LG Optimus G is supposed to have excellent built quality. Sprint will be selling it, it's basically a flagship device, the the Qualcomm S4 Pro chip is supposed to be super fast, they'll be a 13MP camera (for Sprint model, AT&T is 8MP), 32gb of storage, 2GB ram, etc. It seems like people like to slate the LG brand, but on paper it looks like a very compelling device.
Or maybe its time to move to GSM network where there are more choices to choose from. I'm looking to move away from Samsung too since their built quality of recent phones has really turn me off. I wouldn't blame you if you get an iPhone5 and resell it to get an Android phone and some profit in the process.

This. my next phone will be on a gsm network and will not be purchased from a carrier. I'm tired of my phone being held prisoner. And the part about the CDMA updates is true. Sprint got both ICS and JB several months after t-mo. If you want early updates, this is the carrier to have a subsidized. They get push notifications as soon as google pushes the source to AOSP. Personally I'd still rather buy it from google directly, but there's nothing wrong with a t-mo subsidized device either. The updates will come at the same time.
You can check the review for the LG Optimus G by mobiletechreview on youtube. But it seems the Sprint version won't be available until nov 11th, but preorder open at nov 1st. The ATT version seems better though due to having microsd slot and from experience ATT have faster network and faster LTE too. The Sprint version has 13mp camera though.
If you are used to the Nexus S substantial dev support (after all these freakin' years!) then the only natural path is really the Galaxy Nexus. Even the support for the SII has slowed down. I suspect it will be the same with the S3. I cannot stand mfg overlays like TW or Sense.
Can you hold onto your NS and wait to see what the new Nexus is all about?
I'm waiting for the next Nexus phone -since it should be right around the corner. If it wasn't for that though, I'd be looking at the GSIII, Razr Maxx, or G Nex.

Paranoid Android (2.2.2 - 4.1.2)

Ondemmand (Screen On) (800/100)
Ondemmand (Screen Off) (400/100)
Deep Idle (N/A - CFQ)
BLX (98 - Inverted Apps)
Black Exodus (Stock Voltage)
No doubt that nexus family will continue a tradition with a excelent quality new device.
However my biggest disappointment of nowadays phone development companies is a price of our beloved engineering jewels. Any thoughts. How mutch it will cost? I'm a big enthusiast of high end smartphones but personally not ready to sacrifice my halfmonth salary.

Lg makes great phones. Loved lg! Hate Samsung though. I'm going for either the photon Q(its a monster) or this new nexus. I juuust got my nexus from a friend.... had a Samsung transform. Horrible hardware, phone was verry verrry durable though. Masks sure you test it out before and make sure it doesn't randomly brick like most of today's hardware

You should use more high end Samsung devices beside writing them off, the transform is a very old and low end phone on cdma network. Trying to compare it to the Photon Q is like comparing a Ford Tempo to a Ferrari.
I got it when it was new, actually decent. Ask anyone and they will tell you that the s3 is plasticity. The s2 had a tendency to randomly brick because of the emmc freaking out, that's just to name a few. I wouldn't mind an s3, just saying the quality of Samsung has gone away. And if at all possible I'm going to avoid them, bad, no, horrible track record.

sorry for stealing the scene... i'm going to change my Nexus S in the next few weeks and i narrowed down the list of my wishes to the following 3 phones:
- Gnexus: would have to buy it used around the 300$ mark / will combine with a 2 years contract around 30$+
- Gnote: would buy it for 50$ on 2 years contract (30$)
- HTC One X: would get it for free on 2 years contract (30$)
What would you suggest me? i'm a Flash Addict fallen in love with paranoidandroid and JB and ATM my heart points toward the Gnote

There are a number of reviews comparing the two. I have the N5 now but am tempted to grab a Moto X. My biggest dislike on the N5 is the camera but it doesn't sound like Moto is much better.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the moto X dual core only?

I know... It's a damn shame the N5 doesn't have the same build quality and active notifications like the Moto X. Would be the perfect phone.
they are entirely different devices, really.
same category, different angles at the market.
Why do people even consider both options? If the nexus s was for $350, would people add that too?
Endless advantages to the nexus 5, but the moto x only has a few.
Trusted Bluetooth, always listening and colors... That's it.

Yes it is. But it doesn't take away from it being an excellent phone trust me. Although in my opinion the Nexus is the cleAr winner in performance, the moto x performs extremely well, you'll wouldn't know it had a dual core processor if no one told you so except for gaming.
It's really a matter of preference. The moto x is probably the better phone because it does the phone functionalities better (call, speaker, battery life) but to me the nexus is the better device (S800, stock android, unlockable bootloader, 4.95 inch 1080p display, better overall performance).

yes and no. while one of the the processors onboard the X is dual core (the snapdragon s4), there are a total of 8 cores shared between the S4 and the other 2 processors. that's what i call research and development.
That battery life has me considering it... My cousin has it & one charge lasts 2 days... That being said... I feel like not much beats a nexus. I'm sure I won't regret my n5 purchase when he is sitting on KitKat while the n5 will have great development & future updates.

This. I'm happy with my decision and I had researched it thoroughly before making the decision. Moto has been known to produce locked bootloaders and sell editions known as developer editions with the bootloaders unlocked. The main reason everyone is on XDA is for development. So IMHO just the fact the Nexus 5 comes with an unlockable boot loader alone is reason enough for me to love this phone. But then again, everything about the phone is great. And most flaws are software flaws and will be updated and fixed shortly as Google has said.

Nexus 5 vs Moto X
I think this is the most honest review of both phones that I've read on the web and it comes from a Nexus Disciple. If you don't want to read it he pretty much says the Moto X will be the better phone once it gets Kit Kat which it has. I have the Nexus 5, I'm getting the Moto X on Monday. I'll sell one of them after a week of use.
http://www.androidcentral.com/nexus-5-vs-moto-x
I had the Moto X for two weeks and then sold it when I got my Nexus 5.
In my opinion, there is no comparison. Active notifications is cool but I can accomplish almost the same thing with customized LED notifications.
The battery life was great, but with Franco kernel i'm easily lasting a whole day on the Nexus.
I cannot stand the screen on the Moto X. The resolution isn't really what bothers me but it just seems "weak" when compared to the Nexus.
Overall there is nothing that would make me use a Moto X again. I honestly can say the only thing I miss is the small size.
The bootloader on the Moto X can be unlocked pretty easily now. Google is serious about making Motorola a player in the smart phone market once again.

I was thinking about getting an X for my wife, IT guy at work has a Moto X on ATT and his battery lasts for two days, TWO days! He likes the phone very much so far and he just updated to KitKat and I have not been able to see how he likes that yet. N5 battery is very nice to me, I can sometimes go from 6am to bedtime on one charge but most days I need to top off the battery before I leave work or as soon as I get home.
I read a lot of people saying the Moto X runs very very smooth, and now that KitKat is out for it I am sure it is even better now.

This is not true unless you get the developer edition.
As others have said its a matter of personal preference. This is my first nexus and coming from a moto bionic with locked bootloader to this is a huge breath of fresh air, for me. If you are as interested in tweaking your device as most around here are, you can't go wrong with the n5. If not, the x is probably a good choice.
Also the statement that the x has 8 core is wrong, it's highly optimized but definitely does not have 8 under the hood.

Hello I am interested in getting the LG Gpro 2 korean version. Two quick questions. Korean phones usually have an 80 character SMS limit. Did yours have this limit?
Also because the phone thinks you are roaming outside of Korea it will display dual clocks on the lock screen. Has that happened to you?
Many thanks for your help!

Hi Pacman, I have the F350 K variant. The SMS limit is 140 now (my previous Korean G2 indeed had that 80 character limit), not sure why the change. As for the dual clocks on the lock screen, it's still there. I'm rooted though, so there's a method to disable that.
Other than the fact that xposed doesn't support LG's with kitkat, this phone is amazing - definitely the fastest and smoothest Android I've ever used. I just wish that I could adjust the pixel density as the screen real estate isn't maximized in my opinion. But I guess once xposed starts working that can be fixed too.
Hope this helps!

Sorry, I'm based out in Asia so I wouldn't know if the bands work for AT&T. I do believe, but am NOT SURE, that all the S and K versions of Korean LG phones work worldwide while the L versions do not.
Wish T-Mobile would sell this one. It was a shame T-Mobile didn't sell G Pro as it's much cheaper than Note 2 but the performance is comparable.
FYI, talked to local Tmo store and they said they'll carry it for sure. No specific info.
So, take this with a grain of salt...

I heard in April it should be coming out in America but it is already April and I have not heard of any updates yet.
Anyone heard any updates on when the LG G 2 Pro is coming to the US and on what carriers?
The Nexus 5 has been on my potential purchase list along with the M8 Google Play and Moto X Dev Edition. Would any of you here recommend the Nexus with new phones on the horizon? Why? How about White vs Red?
Whatever I buy I only plan to keep until the Moto X2 and 360.
Thanks!

Yes these devices specs are net that much better and the full freedom to unlock is worth it nexus 5 100%

I updated my OP with what I've narrowed down to since posting it.
For me, unlocking/specs aren't too big of a concern with what I'm considering (they're all unlocked).
I'm more interested in the experience when using the phone and it's physical/UI feel.

You get regular android no bull**** everywhere. I would still reccomend it due to great price and the specs... phones don't get that much better
Still can't believe I got this much phone for so few $$$.

This is true. Price is a great aspect.
My concerns are
1. Screen breaking. From what I've heard, the screen on the N5 breaks more easily than some other phones.
2. Battery life. I use an iPhone 5s so I'm used to not superb battery life, but in contrast to the other phones I'm deciding between it seems to be a factor.
These two things are the biggest factors holding me back. M8 has insane battery, Moto has good, and they have other nice things (metal for the M8, active notifications on the Moto, etc.
Not trying to make a pure comparison thread here, but trying to see why current owners picked what they did over these devices (Moto X in particular because the M8 is really new).

I take the M8 insted of the S5 at any time.
If you are on a budget and enjoy of android development/updates, compact design and such, the nexus 5 is the way to go (everyone here who bought the red, loved it). Also don't get surprised if N5 works smoother than the M8 regardless of chipset.. Clean software makes the difference unless you are looking for GPE. Btw, I love Sense.
If you don't care about the size, love the look, build quality and don't care for paying much more, get the M8. Just remember that Xperia Z2 is coming too.
Go to a store where you can have them side by side, get which you like more. You wont go wrong these days. You are paying
I'm really only considering between stock android devices at this point (Nexus 5, M8 GPE, and Moto X). I've used the skinned M8 and Moto X at the store and was fairly impressed by the feel of each (Moto more so). I'm not on a budget, but wouldn't want to spend $700 and wait 2 weeks for the M8 if there wasn't some redeeming quality
Seeing as this is the Nexus forum I'm sure there will be some bias though XD

I've dropped my n5 plenty of times without a case (since rma was coming) nothing ever happened... i think it's just bad luck or i just get good luck.
thank god i'm a student... i would never spend 800$ for something that's gonna be outdated in less than a year
I think the main reason one would buy the m8 over the N5 is the speakers..
Battery life on the n5 is standard, nothing spectacular, not bad either.

IMO, M8 advantages are metal, MicroSD, speakers, S801 (fair bit faster than S800), and the biggest is battery life.
Of course, the N5 is easier to lock/unlock , is lighter, gets updates faster, and is cheaper. All good things that questionably outweigh the M8.

Yeah sounds like you are pretty lucky
Where'd you get $800 from though (just curious)?
I should add that I only plan to keep this phone until the Moto X2 comes out

Also, how easy is it to press the lock button? From what I've seen, it's pretty high up on the side.

Following that trend will keep you in the same conflict. We will be here telling you to wait for the nexus 6 instead of Moto X2 :cyclops:

Haha I may get the X2 and Nexus 6, so no worries
I hold my phone with my left hand, and that's why I was semi-concerned about the lock button (it's funny though because I'm right handed XD). Is it easy to hit without moving your pointer finger?
Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
Not sure if there will ever be a better phone to buy off contract for $350. That is until the next Nexus phone.
Battery life is one of the best aspects on the device for me and it compares favorably with most phones under proper testing conditions.

When I press the power button with my left index finger, I cant reach the Dock icons or navigation bar with my thumb without re- accommodating the phone in my hand. I have to slightly move the phone to be able to use my thumb.

That's what I was concerned about
I have fingers that are a bit longer than the guy in the picture's, but I don't know if I'd suffer the same problem. I noticed that one handed operation was very easy on the Moto X (and M8 believe it or not), but I never saw a Nexus to try.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
One handed operation is average on n5 for a 5inch screen my old phone lg g2 was really heavy and bad for one handed operation and ran slower than my nexus 5 both running custom Roms

Would you say you have large hands? That's a big consideration when it comes to one-handed use.

Possibly. I for sure wouldn't use it even if it came on it.
I'm not having a fingerprint stolen in a hack (of the storage system or my actual phone) or spoofed to gain access to my phone. They may be "secure" for now but there's no telling if/when that could change. I do not trust my phone or the manufactures with any of my fingerprints. They can have a password since I have the ability to change those.
When is the next rocket to Mars? I heard Motorola Headquarters are there, and their secret supply on Nexus 6 2015's.
Am I allowed to reserve on other people's threads? No?
I just need that DPI of a 1440p screen in that area.
Please, I will sell me Nexus 6 D:
Wait, the release price is less of that of the current N6?
Motorola is just killing us right now.

Agreed. This is the only thing holding me back and waiting to see what the nexus is going to bring. I know I'm in the minority, but in so sick of using lock screen, but won't go without for safety :/
Even though there hasn't been any official word on Project Fi support, seeing as how it's just like the Nexus 6 in that it's a single model that works on all U.S. carriers, I don't see why it couldn't work once Google gives it the green light. I know people have used a Project Fi SIM in a Nexus 6 and iPhone and have had some luck with at least one carrier, but those lacked all the hardware necessary. I'm curious if we can get Fi working unofficially on the Style.

I'd be surprised if the nexus has a fingerprint scanner. In my situation, its not a deal breaker but it would have just been nice

I would be surprised if it doesn't. I mean Android pay is one of the features touted for android M & there will be support for fingerprint auth for that, so.... Makes sense.
Hey guys! One quick question. I'm using a Moto g (2gen) right now. Amazon is offering a Lg g flex 2 for 325 Euro right now. Should i get it or wait till Moto x Style comes out? But i guess it will cost more (About 400-450 Euro)
Does this phone lag after the 5.1 update?
Thank you very much in advance!
I'd wait for the Moto X if I were you. I don't think it's worth the risk to use a device with the Snapdragon 810. It'll either overheat pretty badly, or run slower than the 808 to avoid overheating. Moto X all the way.
Goodbye Samsung...Hello Moto
So now that Note 5 says bye bye to Europe (at the moment) I would consider to order the x style... But the only thing that keeps me away is that there is no possibility to change the stock android theme besides i use another launcher but there is only an icon change... or I have to flash a cm rom to get a theme manager...damn!!!

I just hope the option of leaving the micro sd as media-only is intact. I have zero desire of integrating the sd with internal storage. Highly problematic to swap a card or even upgrade a card, since not as simple as
copying data over to another card.
I couldnt see any mention of common sensors like gyroscope, magnetometer/compass in the spec list...Are they not included in this device??
Will it support OTG USB drives?
What about the hearing aid rating? i.e. teh HTC One M9 has a rating of M4/T4
