Note colors messed up - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My wife's tablet is acting all weird. Our daughter dropped her tablet while sitting on the couch so it did not fall far and it was in a case and now all the colors look messed up. Mainly anything that was black now turned white. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is it broken inside?

It sounds like the LCD is damaged. Is it still under warranty?

No unfortunately. Not sure what it would cost or if its worth fixing

I have the same problem. I was for a while, able to smack the side of the tablet with my hand to return it to normal but this doesn't work anymore. Did you find a fix? I'm sure something is just loose inside! Thanks much.

Hi, sounds like that same problem that I had.
In my case it was the Display Flex cable that slipped out of place a bit. You can find a great video on IFIXIT that explains how to get to the cable to check it.
The disassembley is really well explained in the video and it was easy to do it . My Note 10.1 works perfectly well again

A hairy situation

Not long took delivery of my nice new TF 101 (I think that's the model), everything's going swimmingly and very pleased with my new toy, until. I happened to notice what appears to be a small hair/glue strand hanging down from the top left corner of the screen. Its about 3mm in from the top and the same down the side so in the very corner and about the same in length, it even dissapears if I hold the screen upside down and give it a tap, but shows up again soon after righting. Question is can I get it out or is it a major to get at?. Someone must have had this sucker open at some point. Any ideas are good ideas, cheers guys.

Google for one of the many Asus Transformer "Tear-downs" for instructions on taking it apart... but its pretty easy. There are only two small screws near the charging port that hold the bezel to the internals. Compressed air should do the rest.
Cheers just need to pluck up some courage now.

Odd, I have the same problem in the same spot...
Must be a production thing, its not a problem if I am honest. I am just a little particular. Let me know if you take the plunge and do anything about it. Would love to know how you got on, like wise I will do the same if I do.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
couldn't you just chop it off with some scissors?
Lol yeah i figure so, only its stuck behindthe glass.

I'm not touching it, sending mine in for screen problems soon and hopefully if they replace the LCD it will go away, if not I'll open it up - I just don't want to void my warranty before I get the screen replaced.
What screen probs have you noticed?.

Hey dude, have you sorted this out? I'll see if I can 'string up a fix for it

I dropped it and there's little blotches of backlight bleeding in part of the screen, the panel isn't cracked or anything, but since there was some slight backlight bleeding when I purchased it anyway, I'm going to send it in for a replacement.

Soft Spot under left speaker?

Hey all.
Just picked up my Galaxy Note 10.1 today and am loving it. Only complaint is a... soft spot near the left speaker that clicks at the lightest touch... anyone else notice that? I don't think its anything to worry about at the moment but I am still curious.
Thanks!

Mine doesn't seem to have that, feels solid all the way around it.

Some unit's seem to have some gluing issues and light bleed. Watch a movie in a dark room letterbox and make sure you aren't getting light leakage from the edges onto the screen. A tiny bit is normal but should not be much.

So I just exchanged the tablet with the soft spot... but I think this one might have a bad speaker... when I "click" on something for the first time in awhile (about 5 seconds) there is a "snap" in the droplet sound or any sound for the first time... after the first tone the sounds go back to normal until another few seconds of rest. I think this is more of an issue than anything else so far.... how sad. Another trip to BestBuy....

Sorry, I'm not very understanding of

[Q] HTC Inspire 4G

So, I dropped my phone and it didn't crack or anything but when the screen turns on it starts slowly turning really light with colorful lines depending on what colors are on the screen. It's still useable, but really annoying. What needs to be replaced to fix this, I'm thinking it's the LCD, but I want to be sure before I buy it and that's not what it is. Thanks ahead of time.
It sounds like an LCD issue. I work at a phone repair shop, we would test that first. Buy from gounlock.com or repairsuniverse.com or a top rated seller on eBay and you should be able to return it. Plus the part us cheap if I remember correctly. If its not the LCD it might be chip damage. Also make sure nothing got disloged and is pressing on the LCD.

Thank you, I don't know if this helps but the brighter the screen is the faster it does it. If it's darker, it almost looks like it's fine and then very slowly spreads down the screen.
NP. The LCD has more than just the LCD. There is also circuitry. While the LCD may actually be fine if that's damaged you'll need to replace the whole thing. Sounds more like that to me. Phone LCDs are NOT forgiving unfortunately.
Remember watch a few videos and go slow when doing the repair. Its fun but you can trash any device if your not careful. Also be organised with the parts and screws they are usually all different and HTC devices are among the most complicated.

Are you saying an LCD display screen replacement, or a whole new phone?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
Just the lcd should be fine. I was saying there is a bit of stuff on the lcd part if you damage might cause the issues you describe. I think youll be ok. Good luck and have fun.

Small white spot on screen?

Hey everyone, today I noticed a small white spot on my screen as I was using Google now. It doesn't just appear on light backgrounds, its always there, but more noticeable on light wallpapers.
I need to know if I would be covered by warranty and if they would replace it with this issue, or if there is a fix, that would be great. A picture is attached.
Thanks to anyone that can help and if you have questions just ask me.

My sister's tablet did that when she accidentally shut it in the car door (didnt break GTab 2 7) but it did leave a mark similar to that.

Would they replace it? I have ocd and this is making my very agitated when I use my tablet.
My brother says they won't even see it and then they'll laugh at me.

No, a lack of a filled in warranty card shouldn't affect anything. Take it to Argos or send it to Samsung for repair. They will not charge you providing you didn't cause it. I've heard good things about Samsung's support.

I haven't taken it back yet as my parents don't think it's a big issue. I'm being persistent though, maybe by the time the new generation is out they'll realise how irritating it is to someone with OCD.

If it was mine I'd struggle too.
Not too sure if Samsung would fix it for you, it does seem minor. I would be affected too. I'm quite sure that whenever you turn the screen on, your eyes automatically goes to that spot.
Have you tried cleaning the screen? The spot could be there because it was rubbed too much. You can try zippo lighter fluid to clean it the whole screen. Avoid the non-glass areas though. Take it to Samsung if it doesn't work.
If Samsung refuses to fix it... I would try a screen protector.

You can move the "dot" around on the screen (different locations). On my watch it comes and goes. I think it may have something to do with the fitness app. It is certainly no defect on the screen.

Is it dirt or pixels

I have one or two maybe even three pieces of a spec of dirt or may be a pixel. I'm leaning more towards dirt because with any screen color test the dots always remain the same color. Black. They don't change. And they aren't green or white etc. Always remain black.... Help?

I know it would be kindof difficult but is there any way you can post pictures? But honestly it doesnt really matter which it is to be honest. I recomend just asking for an RMA from Google.
Is it possible to RMA later months from now for the same reason? I'd rather wait for quality control to get better or a newer batch. Unless I got like ten bad pixels
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
the Nexus 5 comes with a 1 year warrenty so waiting a few months to RMA should not be a problem.
Yeah i figured as much. I just hope to RMA maybe sometime 2014, rather wait and see if it gets worse. Or remains the same. One or two pixels even three depending on location no big deal. But if I have 5-10 or more by then... I'd want to swap out for a revised not defective device from Google. However at this moment with them rushing these out. Playing the RMA game isn't worth it.

Dead pixels are black. Stuck pixels are any colour but black!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Update. So what I thought was 3-4 dead pixels turns out to be pieces of dirt under the screen. And I bet majority of people mistake these for dead pixels.... Way to tell easy is to turn some bright lights on. Make sure your screen is spotless. And turn it on and find the dead pixel on the screen. Turn it off then turn it all different ways to find the dirt under the display which you think is a dead pixel..
I'm kind of relieved to find out its only dirt. I'd rather have dirt then dead pixels. I'm weird. But whatever
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
still going to eventually request an RMA or are you just living with em?
For now living with it. Because its only dirt. Maybe RMA in the future if it really bothers me. The dirt still sucks. But I'm happy its not like dead pixels..
