[Q] battery power issue with reboot - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Firstly hi to all you clever folks:good:
I dont know what to do now but here is my fault.
1-I flashed a rom kikat to instruction given here,All went well untill the reboot where the samsung logo appears
2-The logo stayed on for 20 minutes and nothing,My battery was 50% at the time.
3-I then loaded my back up from clockwork recovery, rebooted tablet and i was back on 4.1 andriod.
3- i kept getting the 7 error during the the update for the zip.
4-I proceeded to change the file to .doc to take out those first lines, which identifies the product model(i can remember what that was but i fixed it)
5-Now i was getting the 6 error,i then proceeded to fix this via notepad++.(something about changing to hex for unix code)I fixed that
5-while all this the battery was now at 20%.
6-I tried flashing the rom again and this time it worked as all the fixes were in place,as per instruction from the forum.
7- the tablet booted up but still the samsung logo was on,Ok i left it as the first boot takes long,The battery was at 15% at that time.
8-I completely forgot about the tablet,as i was busy fixing a ps3 and psp with cfw.
9-I remembered gawd damnit.
10-Ran to the tablet and saw the tablet off(i then proceeded to put it in recovery mode but alas, all that came up was a battery sign with a loading gif.
11-Now the tablet is dead and it never really booted.I plugged in the usb and instead of charging it shows the battery sign with a loading circle, its as if the software did not complete for the battery monitoring and usb charging.
12-Is there not a way to charge the battery without going via the OS andriod. Is there not a special charging cable that just charge the battery.
13-My tablet is rooted and is modified in everyway.
My solution
Can this work,I take the back cover off and take the battery out,Fine the + and - and connect a 5v charger to these point.....charging it just enough for a recovery process. If there is someone that know of any other way or the battery pin layouts for charging.
Taking it to a repair centre is not an option, even if it still under warranty(my wife will kill me if she found out i rooted 3 tabs in the house.
I need to fix via incognito .I am good in what i do ,but xda members are good in what they do and far better clued up with these problems.Let me know what you guys and gals come up with...........thank you for reading my plight

Use original charger for the tab - USB-Ports and other charger maybe don't have enough power to charge it, or only charge it slow.
Press the Power-Button ~ 30 seconds to turn it into chargeing mode when it's connected.
boot into download-mode and update your recovery (you need up-to-date-recovery to flash KitKat Roms, else you'll get error7) - link in my signature.
redownload the rom.zip and place it on your MicroSD,
Make a wipe data factory reset, format /system, wipe cache and wipe dalvic cache,
flash the rom.zip
reboot your device.

1-the 30 second thing does not work
2-cant boot into download mode ,i have 3 volts left on battery memory,The tab will not respond
3-the status error 7 i fixed last time and status error 6 i fixed
4-I re downloaded the rom
5-Did the factory reset/format/wipe dalvic and flashed the rom last time,The tab will only boot up the samsung sign, then no further.
btw the tab wont charge ,just a battery icon with loading circle.

Did you flashed anything else? Maybe broken EFS? If s you´ll stuck at Samsung Logo and System won´´t boot.
Can you reach the device on adb in recovery?
In a german forum i had 2 guys breaking EFS by flashing CWM wich wasn´´t made for Tab 2
edit:
You can boot into download-mode from recovery You´´kll find that option.

You know what i opened the tab and charged the battery with 5v usb at 300ma.The tab booted up and i got into recovery(clock work touch mod)
Its so bad luck for me,i had enough power to do a recovery from zip but somehow the sd card wont work,I tried the sd card in my pc and its actually broken,There is no response.
I loaded my back up zip on another sd card,The tab battery is flat now and i am gonna charge it external again for 2 hours,Then go back to cwm and restore to my original rom backup. Will let you know how its going.

Did the battery trick again,Got into recovery and flashed 4.4 kitkat,All is well.
Only one problem now, I have so little internal memory space.I deleted the cwm backup rom,I am trying to create space but cant seem to find whats taking up so much.
If only there was an app that would do this for me.

Very odd issue with my g2x.

I haven't done any flashing in about a week. Everything was working fine. And just today I ran the battery completely dry (which I usually do and it keeps my battery happy).
So I power it back up after a few mins of charging.....the LG screen comes on.....then the Ultimate 1.0 Rom loading logo comes up..after that every 10-15 seconds it turns on the screen, shuts it off, turns it on, off, etc. It keeps turning on and off...even after I left it there for 5 mins.
I'm going to flash back my Froyo stock rooted rom that I made a back up. The Ultimate 1.0 isn't the only rom I've flashed in the past. CM7 as well..many of the builds.
Argh.
I have my nandroid froyo backup on my SDcard and it says it can't find it.
This whole internal sd and external sd storage is a pain in the ass. The good old G1 days. Sigh. I went ahead with formatting the card as well and copying back the nandroid backup onto the card. Nothing.
That happened to me. I had to reset - battery pull alone wouldn't work. That phone is now on its way to T-Mobile, and its warranty replacement is going to be soon due to really bad screen bleed (affects my watching video and game play).

What was "it says" - ROM Manager?
If so, it looks for a androids on the internal SD. If you had used the easy recovery install tool, you would have been able to select internal or external to use with Recovery - NOT ROM Manager.
Based on your choice, you should be able to access you nandroid in the place you chose in RECOVERY MODE.
Since you fully drained you battery, you might want to erase battery specs in recovery, turn it off, and fully charge with it turned off for 8 hours. It is not recommended that you fully drain the battery and that may be your problem.
Then you could try wiping cache, dalvek, and format /system - and reflash your ROM. Save flashing the nandroid for last.

have you tried a different battery?
According to the experts at Popular Mechanics running your battery dry is very bad for it. It greatly reduces the life according to them. There was a post about it last week. There are physics involved that apply to all.
when this phone crashes and won't reboot, how do we even get into recovery without rom manager??
You need to NVflash your Recovery

You boot the phone holding Volume Up & Power buttons until recovery screen appears.
Recovery, if you flashed it using the NVflash tool, will be accessible by booting your phone while holding Vol Up & Power. You will go into Recovery. If you have never done this or do not get recovery its because you did not flash the Recovery onto your phone.
Basically, if all you did was download ROM Manager and start flashing the G2x you are playing with fire. You need to flash the Recovery onto the phone using NVflash tool. ( Follow Step2 in the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060715 )
I would recommend anyone with the same problem or the same question to go thru the link above and you will find answers to most of your problems.

You need to properly install Clockworkmod recovery with NVflash. Its a process but well worth it. Rom manager is a no no with out phones.

Did you rename your nandroid backup?
If you did that would be the problem. if you want to rename it, don't leave any spaces.

[Q] NEED HELP, No Power!!

I have absolutly no power on my phone. I was messing around with daemon tools and set it to ondemand. Then about an hour later I updated all apps from market place. I then rebooted the phone and problems started.
It would boot up to lock screen the freeze. Tried removing battery several times and same results. Then booted to recovery and was trying to unmount sdcard from there so I could just wipe and reload Mikes1987 latest rom. (Rev.HD.4.0)
but I couldnt. Then removed sd card and installed to pc to load rom then try to boot back into recovery and wipe phone. Well when done transforing super wipe and ROM I can't. There is no power up. Pluged into wall and also no charge light.
WTF did I do I have had this phone rooted for about 6 months and always changing things. Please Help

Were u also playing with the voltages when ur phone started goin crazy? The first part sounds like u U/V'd too much & made it very unstable. And u said u were u trying to unmount ur sd from recovery & it wouldn't unmount so u pulled it out anyway?
Btw, didn't mean to "thank" u so there's a freebie :')
I have never really messed with overclocking but ther was an option to download something and I did, but really didnt change anything that I can recall but not saying I didn't.
I was trying to load the fresh ROM from clockwork recovery. but I couldn't get my pc to see it as storage device so I could transfer it over. I then removed sd card and installed into pc and loaded it. When I was done I put back together and that's It. Still searching but no results.

I'm confused... you saying you can't mount your SD? If thats it, there is some bad data somewhere on it back up the pictures and whatever files, format the SD.
.... with the overclock and downloading something and not sure if you ran it. Good rule of thumb if you don't know wtf it is, don't touch it.,..... just sayin.

[Q] Now I am at a point I want to keep, but...

Superuser present and active. ADB Root response same= "adbd cannot run as root in production builds"
When I power off and and press the power button, all I get is the progress wheel and an empty battery logo, over and over. Remove battery, count to 10, reinsert battery, after a couple of seconds the progress wheel then nothing.Press and hold power button same as previous. I can not enter recovery, I can enter download and that's the only way I can boot currently is by re-flashing with ODIN the 1997UCLB3.tar.md5. I can reboot with adb reboot. (Nothing happens when I use the 3 button to get into recovery since before the first Odin Flash.)
History: First occurrence Thursday 2/21/13 with no charging when plugged into the charger (3 tried) Read most of the posts here regarding no charge and boot loop (never got to SAMSUNG logo). Downloaded ODIN and the above ROM and re-flashed when my phone booted, I had everything and was rooted. I was happy until I turned it off and tried to turn back on. same progress wheel and empty battery, I re-flashed and did a hard reset, re-flashed and now my data was gone, reinstalled some things, turned the phone off, same no start. Used heimdall back to stock and when running, as expected, but when off, no start.
Yesterday I downloaded SDK and could ADB reboot. Then I dismantled my phone and cleaned what little just had gotten inside, inspected the power button with magnification and noted nothing wrong reassembled inserted battery and pressed power, same results. Re-flashed to get up and tested all functions which seem to working. I have dropped the phone intentionally several time to no avail.
I can turn the screen off with the power button and wake it up. I can lock the camera with the power button and wand unlock it. I don't know if there is an additional circuit connected to the power button for start and I really need to re-solder ( a little scary for me) with a sharp tip and steady hand. I am considering purchasing a cracked screen phone on eBay and swapping mother boards.
At present, I just don't turn the phone off and use Airplane mode at night. I appreciate the work that I see on this forum and will be grateful for any solutions.
End cut n paste:
Since that date: I have factory reset a few times due to rebooting via download mode and flashing via Odin because upon reflash I lose my mobile connectivity (No wireless service, IMEI as if the Sim was not in) Reset fixed that but of course I had to reinstall all my Apps, google acct. etc (My restore will not come up to clear cache and reboot. I do not have a Recovery mode nor a back up and numerous attempts to get CWM have failed.
I do not intend to turn this phone off until I get a replacement which should be in my hands Tuesday. I am asking for a clean GB rom for Odin that will let me reboot without changing anything. I have jscott30's unbrick Roms that have gotten me where I am and don't want to reflash back to stock anymore, Thanks a 1 to the 1oth power jscott 30 and to qkster for his guides. Without the recovery, I am at a loss of what to do. So I will be cool with a point to a clean UCLB3 Rom to reflash should my phone freeze before Tuesday
Thanks and Make a woman Happy today for Valentines
After you go back to stock and flash a working cwm kernel make sure you release power on logo keep holding vol buttons for at least a min, sometimes it takes a few.I'm sure you did but some people don't.

I never get to the Logo
Thanks, but I never get to the LOGO.
I tried to flash a CWM kernal and it failed with an error on reboot about something not being formatted, At each "return to stock" Odin, I select the format button and since I can't get to recovery on my own, use the Settings, Privacy, Factory reset with Fromat USB, I have the 1997UCLB3-roo.tar.md5 that I will use if my phone turns off or goes dead to reflash back to life.

if you can use odin,
flash jesse's option c.
this will give you the base rom with lidroid boot into recovery option
download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702026
flash it in cwm. use the back up the whole rom option.
this will back up just about your whole setup at any one point and make restoring easier.
you had mention about not being able to get into recovery...
what i was wondering is: while running the rom, if you use the pull down status bar menu, go to the far right, there are some reboot options..one of which is recovery..what happens if you choose that option?
Thanks qkster!
I think I tried Option C a couple of days ago and something didn't go right. I figured it was because I couldn't wipe the cache in recovery. I had aslso attempted your kernal flash using the program you recommended. On reboot I got the something not formatted right. I had used my laptop and USB to copy the kernal file to a folder I made in the Infuse. But to be clear. Since I can't clear the caches in recovery, just flas option c, selecting PDA? (No PIT or phone?)
I do want to get the C.
As for the infuse Toolkit, you mean after I get CWM vis Jesse's option C?
You ask about the pull down status bar "when running ROM" is that in ODIN it self? I am not sure where you mean,
Thanks for your patience,

I'm wondering if you may have several things confuse..or at least the terminology anyway.
In order to flash Jesse's option C, you have to be in DOWNLOAD mode (DL or dl) and flashed with Odin on your PC.
When you have the phone running, if you touch the top of the screen and pull it down, you have the status bar menu. You can sweep the icons to the right for additional options.
if you are looking to wipe cache for what ever reason, here is one option without using recovery menu:

It's most likely my attempt to communicate with unfamiliar terms:
I can and always have been able to get into Download Mode, and flashed Jesse's C via Odin that way. Originally back at the beginning, It was Odin and Jesse's B that got my phone up. but it didn't solve the problem of not being able to turn the phone on with the power button. It was Wednesday evening that I attempted to load the kernel you had to add CWM, that's when it failed and then the Jesse C failed on Odin and I had no wireless connection or IMEI etc. Back to your unbrick then the factory reset with phone running and using the Privacy menu.
Until I downloaded the Quick Boot at your recommendation, I have not been able to enter Recovery from a phone in the off status. (Recovey ran at the end of each Odin flash). Thanks also for the Cache Cleaner.
Now when I pull down my top bar, nothing scrolls left to right or right to left and I don't ever recall seeing that happen in the last 1.5 years.MIne just shows L-R Wifi; Blue T; GPS; Flight Mode; Screen rotation.
Now I am good as long as the phone doesn't freeze and I have to remove the battery. I have in those cases I have re flashed Jesse's B to bring the phone up. Only the last time I ended up with no wireless (No Sim recognized and it was installed), and I went back to stock to regain it. So I am a bit paranoid about re-flashing anything new now. But knowing me I will before the weekend is done. The Reboot app is what I have been trying to figure out how to do. When I get the new phone and get it up and running and stable, I'll attempt to re melt the on button solder and possible the USB connector solder too. USB connection now dies if the screen time out turns the screen off. (If i keep the screen alive by doodling on it no problem transferring files.)
Thanks for your help I am a bit compulsive so all of this is my current obsession.:laugh:

you're right about the status bar..looking over jesse's description, you would have to flash the lidroid as an extra
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698972
there is something odd about your phone though...possible hardware issues...you should not have to keep screen on to complete a background task.
under Display..there should be an option to keep the screen on longer than default if you it

I do believe it's hardware too.

I set it on 2 minutes and touch the screen often. Funny it doesn't have an issue in DL mode, Sometimes I wiil have SUB Connected and no charging and It'll connect in the back ground, lose connection repeatedly and all of a sudden show the charging Icon, which I haven't see since all this began 9 days ago.
This phone has had some big drops. last one about 4 days before this began, vibrated off my table saw onto the concrete floor,
Thanks.
New phone works as advertised

Ok eBay phone arrived this afternoon. Factory reset, Odined, Jesse's C option. Yeah, CWM recover. I loaded most of my programs and backed up my ROm. I will experiment on my old one now.
New thing happening. I still can't start the phone from Off. BUT if I plug in the charger and hold down the on button and the down volume button after a few cycles of the dead battery icon, I get a charging icon and the phone is charging. Now with that icon working I can hold the power button down and the phone starts. Charger or USB need to be plugged in for that to work.
Update on the Start button.

Thursday Update:
Recap of current state:
Factory Reset from phone/security/fatory reset.
Flashed Jesse's C option with odin https://www.facebook.com/jennifer.waddell.963/photos_stream?ref=ts and let it boot all the way. Next I down loaded Quickboot (see qksters link above) and restarted in Recovery. Voila Red CWM. Cleared cache; factory reset; Advanced cleared davlik cache. Rebooted and let it fully load. Turned off to enter download.mode and Odined a second time Option C.Everything looked good on all accounts, reentered Google data etc. like a factory reset requires. Re installed Quickboot and booted to CWM and backed up my ROM.
I turned the phone off and the start button wouldn't work still, but I held it a long time with the down volume button (not sure this is necessary, just what I did) and all of a sudden instead of the dead battery logo, I got a charging battery logo and it was 87% charged. First time I had seen this in while. I pressed and held the power button and the Samsung Logo came up and the phone booted. (Slow boot compared to the new Infuse I now have.) So now my old phone was working, but not up to 100%.
I charged the battery to 100% and turned it off and left it off for the day/night. Yesterday I got it to turn on with all the buttons pressed and it booted, said connect battery charger/low battery 1%, h'mmm. I charged again to 100% and turned it off all day and night. Same issue this morning. Something is draining the battery when fully off. SO I still have a hardware issue I believe, just not sure what it is.
Thanks for any insight, I'll keep experimenting.

it could be your battery that is bad.
try a new one if you have not tried several others:

I have tried several other batteries now with the same results.
Yesterday, I decided it would be a good idea to use this phone as a practice platform for a Jelly Bean upgrade.with scott.hart.bti's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129
Everything went as advertised and I was pretty happy for a while. I was following the instructions quite literally and after flashing the CM9, I removed the external SD card and that messed up getting back into recovery, but I got there. From reading, I understand that I need the IC flash to preserve the EFS file, but not absolutely sure that I can't remove the SD card before starting the process altogether. CM9, then CM10.
Since all my programs needed to be re-downloaded and installed, I had the "Bright idea" to restore the backup in CWM that I did just before the upgrade. Bad idea, now I had a phone that would not boot.
Is there a way to upgrade to JB and not have to re-install all my programs? I will try the Nandroid backup in CWM
To get back working again, I could get into download mode, but not recovery, so I did J scotts back to stock, then the option C to get CWM and used quick boot to get into recovery and reflashed with an experiment of using your Quick wipe in stead of factory reset on this go. Again when I took the SD out at the finish of the CM9 I had a little trouble getting into the recovery to continue. When it did get to recovery, I finished flashing per the instructions, but when it booted I only had a partial group of programs, Google play was the most notable omission. I took a deep breath and did a factory reset, and managed to get into recovery and started with a flash of CM10 again and this time all ok.
I did a couple of boots with quick boot and powered down for the night with it plugged into the charger. This morning I can not get anything up. Battery charging icon shows and goes away (CM10 battery logo) I can get into download, but not recovery and don't really want to Odin back to stock and go from there, but may do that and leave it in GB while I update the new phone.
My conclusion is that it's hardware and possibly USB connector. IN GB the USB cable wouldn't connect so I used Software data cable. In JB it worked. Still confusing, but I'll keep at it.
Thanks for your patience and my learning curve!

Completely stock Note 10.1 stuck on splash screen cant access recovery mode.

Hey guys hope this is in the right area. My brother gave me his old galaxy note 10.1 because he said it wasnt working. It boots to the splash screen and stays there. I can access download mode, but cannot access recovery mode. When I try to access recovery mode, one time it the screen will flash twice, and then the third time and every time thereafter(while im holding the power and volume button) it just boots to the splash screen. When the tablet boots the the splash screen, my PC does chime showing a device has been connected, but it never shows in my pc. I have flashed the stock rom with odin that I downloaded, and it passes successfully, and the tablet restarts, but still same problem. I have let it charge overnight, let it sit at the splash screen for hours, removed the battery overnight to drain any charge. tablet it not rooted, or ever been messed with in anyway. I would hope this to be a software issue because that means I can(hopefully) fix it. So, is there any other portion of the memory I can wipe and reinstall? Does odin completely wipe the entire memory when it installs. If its not software Im thinking of just heat treating the whole mobo and having that be the last go at it. Any ideas or recomendations would be helpful.
I would flash a custom recovery via Odin.
Boot to recovery. Format system cache data .Boot to download mode flash stock rom for your model .

If you can find a bootloader flash through Odin.Try sammobile.com.
Nand is the onboard flash ram memory .

ive got one of these, with recovery, it boots to splash screen and stays... i can go through the motions of sideloading a rom via adb, but when the rom is transfered and starts to install, i see a quick error that ive lost root, and the system is read only????
i used the recovery to try and repair root, nada, i then sideload superuser and it says it loaded correctly, but the rom install still fails via sideload...
ideas?
Hhhmmmm your experience shows that maybe it's not software but hardware? Mine is completely stock and has the same symptoms as yours.
Any suggestions on where to find a bootloader?

As my post sammobile .
I've just had this exact same problem with my tablet (gt-n8010) for the second time.
First time it sat in a drawer for 2 months with a flat battery before I took it to a repair center in bicester. They got it working straight away.
This time I thought I'd have a go a sorting it out myself (even though it's been a while since my regular flashing days)
After spending 7hours downloading the stock rom i flashed through odin and retained the boot loop.
I had a hunch that something was being retained in the memory that wasn't being cleared with just reboots so i dissassembled the tab and removed the battery, I then held the power button for about a minute.
I then reconnected all the cables with the battery one being last and powered up the tab.
It then finally proceeded to install the rom package!
So anyone that is stuck in a bootloop for no reason should remove the battery!

Samsung Tab2 10.1 stuck at battery charging logo after delete sytem.

I want to flash a Samsung Tab2 10.1 P5110.
I format the partition in order to install custom rom. But when using adb sideload, I want to cancel for some reason and it got stucked at the cancel screen. I've tried force reboot but in vain, so I waited it until the battery drained and I recharge it. And the nightmare begins, I couldn't boot but stuck at the charging battery loading screen when I charge it, can't even light up the screen when unpluged. I've already charged for a couple hours in case the battery has no power. Then I decided to unplug the battery and waited for at least 24hr then turn on plugged and unplugged, same thing.
Any suggestion what should I do next?
ps. The charging before is 1.6A(for some second) --> 0.42A(stable)
After flashing 1.6A(keeps)
And when I plug into the computer and tried to boot, the computer detected as "Texax what USB..." device for few second and then disappeared.
Re-flash Stock ROM.

But I cannot enter ether download mode nor recovery.
Then take it to authorized service center and let them try to fix it.

Well the tablet does not worth much, I guess the service fee is more than the worth of that tablet. XD
Why did not use custom recovery
Its more easy
and after format system /data you reboot into recovery again
Then you flashed foem within recovery
I think in your case you could search for debrick.img
Installed on sd card and try to boot from it into download mode
It used secondary bootloader
(Qualcomm cpu only use this method)
