Unlocking Solution 2014 HTC TouchPro2 Verizon - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Hello everyone,
I have recently received an HTC Touch Pro 2 Verizon from my friend who is no longer using it. I have T-Mobile and I want to use it on my network. Unfortunately, the phone is locked to Verizon. Does anyone know if there is a way to unlock the phone for free without contacting Verizon? I searched the forums but the ways that were previously used do not work anymore. (For example, Olipro is not active in the community anymore).
Does anyone have a tool that will unlock it? I know there are others on the fora who would like to unlock their devices as well.
Thanks,
TheAH

Did You SEARCH The Forum, FIRST?
Aside from the fact that developers and skilled programmers detest noob questions, and end users (lusers); there is the matter of your question being hashed over umpteen times, herein!
Myself, I would rather a crass answer, than to be ignored.
You should really do the prerequisite reading.
Verizon is a CDMA network operator. T-Mobile is GSM.
The TP2 (Touch Pro 2) usually ships WV (World LOCKED), whereas you want WU (World UNLOCKED). This is part of the "radio" firmware, which runs the cellular radios.
The Sprint (CDMA) branded version ships WV and won't even connect/register on a U.S. domestic GSM network. You can't even dial 911!
The handset also has an FM broadcast radio receiver, but it's not operable via the stock ROM.
Yes you need to be security/SIM unlocked, but you must also be World Unlocked, unless you live close enough to Canada or Me-He-Co, to get their GSM signal, and have one of their GSM chip/cards.
Read about HSPL (Hard Secondary Program Loader), WU radio, and WU unlock...
Maybe if you ask the right QUESTIONS, you'll get the right ANSWERS.
Don't forget that the HTC Touch Pro 2 is ANCIENT, in the world of handsets, and developers have mostly moved on to the newer, shinier devices, to get a chance to "brick" them. Many of the needed files have disappeared from here!
By the way... I noticed 188 views of your OP, and but 1 reply, here. Did you happen to notice the tick/checkbox below where you type, before you hit "Submit New Thread"?

I understand that you need to make other people feel inferior in order to make yourself feel superior. But I believe that you are the true noob here, not only through your limited knowledge about how this device can be unlocked to use on GSM networks IN THE US, but also through your disrespect for other people on these fora. If you want to be rude and disrespectful, go find another forum for idiots who think they know how they can tell others wrong information. Your abysmal 3 posts are worthless and do not contribute to the community. Rather they feed the other trolls lurking behind the curtain of developers who want to share their accomplishments.
You are the stupid and worthless noob that needs to get out of these fora. It seems that 187 other people were smart enough to figure out that you can actually unlock this device. Unfortunately, people like you only hold back human civilization.
If you want to be idiotic about everything, why not be a moderator? Because you cannot. Learn to use your brain first, n00b.

What has the world come to?

I just got done reading a PM from someone who bought a used phone. And guess what they had on it, My Vanilla ROM.
Guys if you are going to sell your phones, please flash them back to factory. I dont think its smart to sell it with my rom or any other bleeding edge rom. These releases are still considered to be testing.
I understand your concerns and I agree...but I think that if we (as a community) are sharing ROM's...this is one of those things that is going to happen and we'll have to live with ya know...
agree with j3d1n4s7y (pain to copy out!lol)
and i agree with you nottoosmart.
if the seller didnt make it a selling point then, it shouldnt matter. but if the seller was saying 'oooo loooky here, wm6-rare!!!!!!buy me!' then the seller frankly is an idiot!
"What is the world coming to?" ?
Frankly, I don't see what the issue is. As long as the seller clearly indicates that the phone is running a third-party ROM, such as mUn's, then what's the problem? Undeniably, the person ought mention such information, but that's just an issue falling under the category of normal auction and commerce etiquette (i.e., that one should always disclose any major modifications made to a device).
Most people would be happy to get a phone pre-installed with mUn's ROM (regardless of what it's re-branded as). The functionality and stability of the mUn WM6 ROM you speak of are real and significant improvements over the OEM's ROMs.
This thread seems little more than public boasting.
cheers.

Selling cooked roms
OK, I guess I have to disagree with a lot of you folks here. I think it is a bad idea to sell cooked roms. The problem is with people who are new to pocket pc's and to WM5 and WM6. If you will remember, there is a learning curve to these devices, and the extra complexity of many cooked roms adds to the confusion. Also, where are they going to get help for their questions about WM6? or where do they turn to when their comm manager screen doesn't look like the one in the picture? Is the seller going to offer support? Likely not, probably they will refer them to this forum and they will end up PMing the rom chef indignantly, expecting their help.
Leave the stock rom in place. If you want to unlock the device, fine, but put it back the way you found it. That way the people who buy them know where to turn for support. (Microsoft, or the carrier).
Regards,
Make it Factory!
Heck even if you update to the original carriers latest rom, thats fine. You are doing the next guy a favor. But just think of it this way.
If you DONT flash it back to a factory rom, can you really be sure that you have removed all your personal info from the device?
Ever hear about the 100's of HDs that are bought and sold on ebay without being security wipped? Phone numbers, B-Days, eww its ripe for the identity thief.
If you have taken the time to unlock it and play with it, have the common courtesy to put it back to a carrier supported format.
btw Great rom there NTS

Ok, let me state the issue with this......
I got 3 PM's through the forum about support of this. I know this sounds like me coping out on support, but I am not about to support someone who does not know anything or has not spent the time reading the posts here. Most of the PM's I get are from people who have done the research here and not just saying "BTW I bought a device with your ROM on it, can you help me do this or that"

I totally agree with this. Its very similar to the people that are seeing posts in PC Mag, and other places about WM6 roms for the wizard can be found here. They come here and start flashing before they even know what they are doing then start demanding (and yes I mean demanding) people to fix their phone they have now screwed up (I get numerous PM's from people that want me to be their personal support center and tell them step by step how to do things. Most of those PMs get deleted or I will point them to one of the how to threads and not answer further PMs from them. I'll continue to assist people that post in the forums, but am starting to ignore ones that its pretty obvious they haven't even tried looking before asking. I love the ones that ask for where to download a rom, and just a couple of posts above theirs is a link someone posted.

Sugesting New Devices From SPRINT

I had sent an E-Mail yesterday to [email protected] and had recieved a phone call back. We can contact SPRINT in this way to get them to really hear what we have to say and ask. I had spoke with the VP and had sugested that SPRINT contact HTC to have them design the HD2 to also have a sliding keyboard. All SPRINT has to do is put in the request because their customers "US" are asking for that feature to be added to the phone. If just one person asks 1 question, then it might be heard. But if 10,000 people or 100,000 people ask the same question. It will definatly be heard and then answered. If we want SPRINT to STOP CRIPPELING the phones, then let's all ask the same question. If we want SPRINT to advertise about the TP2, then let's all ask. If more people knew that there is a phone that can give the IPHONE a beating, then all we have to do is make SPRINT stand up and listen to what their customers have to say. So far to date, there has not been one advertisement for the TP2 in any way shape or form to the masses. Sure there have been some reviews on the phone. You will only know about it if you read that perticular magizine or go to the right web site. So, agian let's all send an E-Mail to [email protected] and speak up
How is Sprint crippling their phones?
I definitely do NOT want an HD2 with a keyboard. Since Sprint is in NO WAY getting the HD2 (at least for a while), I would like to petition them to get a phone without a keyboard that is otherwise equal to or better than the TP2. While we are petitioning, how about making it free...

I am not sure what exactly gd761 is talking about. I do know, though, that all CDMA versions of the phone (including Verizon's) do not have an FM Tuner in there. For whatever reason, it is sacrificed for some of the CDMA hardware. Though there are ways to get Radio, just not through normal FM/AM.
The other thing gd761 may be referencing is the fact that nearly EVERY VERSION OF THIS PHONE with other carriers (not all, but most), were released with WinMo 6.5 and a newer (and Sense-like) TouchFlo. For whatever reason, Sprint seems to want to delay it and only says that it will be released "early 2010." I spoke with a representative today who agreed it is ludicrous that nearly every, if not all, carriers now have the upgrade (or at least their form of it) and sprint is dragging their heels.
To tell the truth, I am not sure what gd761 is referring to. I do share the resentment, at least on the upgrade thing. Who knows?
I agree, though, on one point... I do believe that we should, as their customers, their paychecks, let our opinions be heard... and not just on their web forum or through customer service. It is obvious that we need to let them know what we want, and, if need be, bypass the normal channels and go for the bigwigs.
I'm not calling for a revolt, I am however, tired of hearing one person after another complain about service or not having the best phone (in their opinion) and rant and rave..... AND THEN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT (but complain some more). If you ahev enough time to be on here and B!+ch about it, you have enough time to write a letter to someone about it. It's a rare day if the powers that be in our respective phone companies (Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, etc) scan these forums for advice and ideas, at least not in depth. Even if they did, it would be much longer then just going to the source.
Think about it, everyone.
I've seen plenty of tp2 commercials since at least November.
"If more people knew that there is a phone that can give the IPHONE a beating, then all we have to do is make SPRINT stand up and listen to what their customers have to say."
Not convinced HTC will completely redesign a platform because a carrier requests it. If you really want an iPhone killer tho, Droid Does. The TP2 certainly has a more refined slider keyboard, and the tilt is nice. Have to say I like the glass capacitive screen better tho. The real advantage the Droid has right now is a separate GPU. It really is a noticeable improvement over the TP2 performance-wise. I was anxious to see what HTC did with the Nexus 1, but lack of a physical keyboard is a deal killer for me, Snapdragon or no.
I have tried to use Andriod and Palm and don't like the look or feel of them. I know that we all have our own opinions about all of the different devices out on the market. What we should be doing is not complaining about what we think individually, but all want from the Carriers. these forums are not you and me againt one another, but us the customesr to share info and to try to get the Carriers to listed to ALL of us, not just ONE of us. I want a keyboard and you don't want a keyboard. These things tell the Carriers that their customers want one with a keyboard and one without a keyboard. We want one feature or another, or one OS or another. this will let the Carriers know that you want a specific device with specific features with a certain device. I might want exactly the same thing with all the same features, but just with a different OS, or feature. If the Carriers start hearing this, then when they negotiate with the Manufacturs of the devices for them to carry them, they will say that their customers are asking for this or that, and have the devices tweaked or redesigned. This is how it is done. Some people think that we the customers don't influence in any way how these devices are designed or what OS is installed on them. There are a lot of deciding factures that go into these devices that most peolpe do NOT realize or want to accept as being fact. This is just the way that things are. But again, let's agree to disagree and tell the Carriers what our personal desires are. They weally do listen, but not to just one voice, but to many voices.

The "Let's put pressure on HTC" thread

The purpose of this thread is to serve as a central place for people to organize/post/talk/*****/complain about the unlocked bootloader situation with the Sensation/Evo3D. A lot of people, including myself, e-mail/call HTC on a regular basis to try and get some sort of time-line for when they will actually unlock the bootloaders on these devices. A lot of people, including myself, post these responses in the Dev threads which only leads to clutter and flame wars, so I thought it was appropriate to start a new thread to serve as a place for this information.
If you get an e-mail response/phone call from HTC, talk to them on the phone, Facebook, Twitter, or online chat and want to share that info, post it here rather than posting in a Dev thread. It will make everyone's lives much easier. Also to avoid flame wars, post a screen shot of said response if possible. This will save everyone from "proof it or didn't happen" type responses.
So let's utilize the power of community and flood HTC with e-mails/calls in an effort to get SOME type of response from them on when our bootloaders will be unlocked. They promised, now they need to deliver. No flaming or baiting, just teamwork and sharing!
My recent response from HTC is attached below!

It isn't effective i think..I have sent more than 20 e-mails to htc_hk, but they always said they have no idea when we will get unlocked bootloaders but we will get it..
So do you think htc will unlock our devices? I doubt.
You do realize that this isn't effective, right?
I know you're trying to be helpful, but please, there is a sticky from the MODS explicitly saying not to post any more bootloader threads.

Well the point is to get everyone to stay on them, regardless of whether or not people think it's effective. I'm not one for the "I don't have to do it because someone else will" approach, I'd rather take initiative and at least try. I DO think they will unlock our devices, they have stated as such. The problem is when? And if starting this thread gets us no closer than so be it, but it only takes one person to slip/leak and give someone a date and we have our answer. That's easily a chance I'm willing to take.

I don't see how it couldn't be. Just searching there aren't really any threads like this. People post response info all over the place, mostly in Dev, so why not centralize? Then mods can delete/merge posts from the Dev threads, and the people who will continue to contact HTC and want to share can do so here.
Yes I'm just trying to be helpful. The reason I started it was because of a mini flame war in the Fre3vo thread, and I agree that stuff like that shouldn't be posted in a Dev thread. If mods want to delete this thread then so be it. But I don't see a thread like this specific to this purpose.

I'm pretty sure lots of people are on them like white on rice.
Honestly if HTC gave anyone an actual date, that person is just gonna do like everyone else & made a new thread. They're not gonna search for 1 of the other 2838292 bootloader threads. That's why I think this is a useless thread. Just a bunch of people that are gonna post what everyone else has already posted: stuff from a CSR that probably has no real info & is just giving you a standard PR response to shut you up.

it is very easy for htc to unlock bootloader, if they want to, they can release it immediately....I belived that htc would unlock our devices some time ago, but now i doubt whether they will unlock or not.

I know I see the posts all the time, but like I said these posts are all over the place. Maybe the mods decide to make this sticky and say "Hey, if you wanna post HTC responses, do it here and here ONLY." People are going to post them regardless, we know that, why not have ONE place for them to do it in? That's all I'm saying, and in that regard, I don't think the thread is useless.

Right! That's why it's so frustrating! I don't believe at this point they can go back on their word, esp. after Peter Chou's FB post. And the canned e-mails have clearly been updated to state that the devices WILL be unlocked so now it's a waiting game. There would be mayhem if they went back on their word now! There's no good reason NOT to unlock these two devices All I'm saying is maybe we can influence that wait time.

My take after getting two slightly different responses is that HTC already has the unlocker ready to go. They're waiting for some date or issue to come and go by. This is not a technical challenge but a logistical or administrative or money one to them. Or more specifically a political decision. They are waiting for something to come together that will really demonstrate that they are the leader. Maybe a new phone which comes out magically unlocked.
Perhaps they have already given this to the carriers as well. Tmobile and Sprint may be playing this for all its worth. The truth is that this is not a technical challenge when you have the "keys".
This all leads me to believe that they are simply waiting for a certain time or event to occur which will give them a significant market share boost.

I like your theory. I myself thought about this and can only come up with political or administrative. Administrative being that devs/tech writers creating an unlock tool and documentation on how to unlock and they'll post it on their Dev site. Political.. who knows. I thought maybe the carriers, but Samsung's last few devices have all been unlocked and will be going forward, so I don't think carriers are standing in their way. In terms of unlocking, that part isn't technical since they have the encryption keys, but if they are creating a "one tool unlocks all" type application that could be a possibly reason. OR they are rolling the unlocked bootloader into a future update and we all know how much time that takes them for each device. I'm just speculating here but the fact that they're being so hush hush is increasingly frustrating.
Folks, there have already been several threads about this.
HTC has stated they are going to unlock the bootloader. Pestering them isn't going to help matters.
This thread is locked, and anymore like it will be deleted as per my sticky. PM me with any beef.

Changing ESN : If So Damn Illegal, Then Why...

I would like your comments please...
First, I have no immediate need to do this myself, but as a reasonably new flasher, I would like some bonafide clarification please.
So now... let me start this thread off with a question...
If using donor phones (which means you are using that phones data on a different phone) is so damn illegal, then how do all the cell phone stores that offer this as a service, get away with it?
Example:
There is a cell phone company in Orlando (actually several of them but I know a couple of the ones that work there) that has two stores and has been doing cell phone flashing for many, many years. Huge banners, huge window decals, the whole full fledged marketing attack and are always slammed. And as far as I know, never had a moments problem from it.
And yes, they flash ANY phone to ANY carrier. (if it can be done technically that is)
Thanks for your time and clarification,
John
This should answer your question.

Pocophone LTE Band Unlock Report

Not that any of you are worth a damn anymore, but I have a lot to report on this popular topic. Go ahead, delete this post for flaming this entire community, but I put in the actual work, something none of you attempted, and this will answer a lot of questions for people like me attempting something above a custom launcher or something stupid like that. I guess developing a pretty UI is important
I have confirmed that the POCO F1 is 100% hardware locked in its LTE bands. There is no band unlock for 2,4,12 etc. US users are screwed. How they will release this in mexico is beyond me. Attached is an image file displaying that the bands are configured directly into the phone, not just a part of LTE_BC_CONFIG. I'm not gonna scroll down the list but theres information about band powwer delivery, latency, etc. everything that would be required to program and run the hardware, its all there. The bands are not locked by software. ****ing bull****. The modem is the SM845 modem but xiaomi has taken the liberty to indeed limit the radio hardware for sending and receiving more lte bands. So they can sell it to the US for 500 instead of 300. Great
I've been at this for days, I've tried everything, its not gonna work. You may get LTE on band 5 in the US but then again, you may not. Band 4 LTE is 3g anyway, i mean **** it who are we kidding. If this dosen't bother you awesome but I pay for unlimited LTE every month and frankly I'm pissed off. Sorry to crush your dreams fellow americans, but this time we got screwed hardcore. Screw this forum and this community for not doing anything to investigate this earlier, I thought this was a place to share info like this but oh well
Cry me a river!
It's the sourmilkman more like, so your blaming everyone in the "community" for not figuring this out before you wasted your time on it?
What is it with the yanks lately ? Ive noticed it on lots of other non phone related forums as well. I was even blamed for the war of independence on one of them ffs ??? Make America smart again not bloody dumber!!!
hahahahaaha
Why are you so mad abt it.... It isn't released in the US... it wasn't made to be used in the US... They didn't want you to use it in the US... so why would be mad if it doesn't work as intended ....it's like if someone ordred a VERIZON OR AT&T and he's living in the EU OR ASIA and started crying why it won't work... You just went full retarded... Wtf is wrong with you people !??

1. Thanks for your efforts
2. We cannot do anything about Xiaomi locking bands via hardware
3. How on earth, do you expect xda/members to know if bands are locked via hardware. Poco is not officially sold in US, so there is no need for them to have US LTE bands support
4. We have been sharing info, and already have a thread about it here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/help/poco-f1-lte-bands-unlock-t3835467
5. No need to start flaming the whole community
@MishaalRahman can you please check with @jaimani or poco peeps who interact with xda if the bands (2 and 4) are locked via hardware on Poco F1 so we don't spend much effort on trying to unlock those bands?
Clearly the Poco F1 is popular in States, but lack of bands is killing that popularity.
If it's locked then don't be sour about it. As mentioned earlier, it's not intended for the US. Thanks for your efforts BTW.
RT's appreciated. Let's see if we can get an answer on Twitter.

All of you complaining about my negativity and "failure to see that this is not intended for a US release"
Your lack of ambition bores me
Its intended for a South American release, including Columbia and Mexico. Both of these countries share LTE bands with the US. I don't care if its "not intended" I'm going to take what is available to me and use it. Do you think I failed to realize that its "not intended" when I broke down the modem.img and read countless lines of UTF-8 coding (half of which i admit just ended up getting scrolled through cause its nonsense) trying to get more than "bands 40,41 disabled" and "activate based on selected region" etc. etc. etc. Or maybe when I tried rewriting in QXDM to no avail because guess what it can't be done its hardware locked. They shouldve just saved me the trouble and said "GLOBAL VERSION HARDWARE LOCKED BY LACK OF RADIO ANTENNAE" rather than provoking me to play go fish with the damn firmware. I'm not the only one who wondered if it could be done, this is a common question just look around. The fact that I am the only one trying, only to conclude with certainty that it cant be done, thats what im *****ing about. I just figured that others, who wanted to be part of this release like myself, who search the damn forums including this one only to come up empty handed, could use the cold simple answer instead of 10000 posts "Yea, would be really cool if that could work" and "oh yea, band 2,4 frequencychecker" etc etc etc. If you cant see the reasoning in that, then we're done here as far as arguing my ****ty attitude. Just enjoy my test results and feel free to use them for whatever testing/investigation you* may be interested in, thats why i posted it and i can/will provide all relevant information requested with regards to any testing i performed to arrive to this conclusion, cause theres more
Snapdragon 845 for 350 dollars, "not intended" does not apply anymore, ESPECIALLY when mine scored north of 2400 single core on geekbench without a custom kernel. I died a little inside when I saw that I couldnt keep it

SNAPDRAGON 845 for 350$ isn't intended doesn't apply anymore...? Sorry to burst your bubbles but IT APPLIES MAN
And nobody forced or provoked u to go through all the firmware,u did that all for urself and willing, im not trying to diminish ur findings but u can't go and cry why the bands aren't available there...
I didn't see u crying when most sony devices released on the US lacked fingerprint unlock method even though the fingerprint sensor is present in the hardware but just blocked in the software and i can list a lot of examples but this would suffice
Bottom line is this... The OEM has the right to do whatever and put whatever and block whatever the F*** they want in their devices as you have the right to buy them or not. .. Nobody force you to buy the phone u wanna the desired bands buy a phone intended for the US.... Stop crying like a baby and grow up, you are embarrassing urself
