Moto G won't switch on - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I forgot to charge my moto G at night and when i woke up and try to put it in the charger the phone won't switch on but instead i get a notification light on. I tried holding down the power button for 2mins or more, i even left it a day without using it and still nothing happens. Even tried a 2v battery but still nothing. Left it in the charge for 2-3hours and nothing happens.
I don't want to send it to repair because i dropped it in water once and i think this may avoid my warranty. Is the anything else i can do or should i just send it to repair and pay the price for the repair. Please someone help me.

the correct procedure is:
-plug it in the charger and hold the power button for 2-3min
-leave it in the charger for 1hour or more
-unplug it and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds

[Q] Help: I Bricked My Device?

I've been hacking away at this Captivate for a month since I got it. Maybe a hundred times going into download mode. But, now I cannot get my device into download mode from the: "PHONE --/\-- COMPUTER" screen.
Here's what I've been doing since I've had the phone:
- Pull battery, sd, sim
- Put battery in
- Put USB in
- Hold both Volume and Power down
- Once the PHONE--COMPUTER screen goes black, wait.
- After it goes black one more time, let go of Power button
What is going on? Am I screwed here? I was applying the Ext2 (2.3) lag fix over JH2 when this happened, here's my CMD:

Of course! I even pressed "Allow" on superuser. The fix won't continue past a few lines without root access.
pull the battery, sim card, sdacard...
put in the battery, hold volume down, plug in the usb cable and keep holding volume down until you get into download mode.

Worked like a charm!
Super super odd. I've been getting taking this thing into download mode like every 2 minutes since I've had the device. Never had a problem till now!
Why wouldn't my usual procedure in the OP work? It always has for me?

I think those are higher level methods, something may have been messed up and keeping them from working.
I am pretty sure this method is a lower level method that will always work.

HI,
So, grabbed my TF300T one day and it would turn on, "no prob" its just out of charge, so charged it (led on the power button went green) went to turn it on and nothing! tried soft and hard resets and still nothing!
Does anyone have any ideas or is it just dead? its stock, just unlocked (form ASUS tool).
Cheers.

Try using the reset hole on the left side of your tablet. Hold that down for varying lengths of time.
Does the light still turn on when you plug it in?

I have tried the reset button but with no results.
Yes, when plugged into the mains i get the orange and then green led.
It could also be the power button shiftet out of place. Remove micro sd card and remove the back cover. Ask someone for help if you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself. Be careful with the hdmi and audio connectors. A pry tool is useful but not required.

Done that too. I had a new motherboard from the last RMA. I think I will just have to face facts that it is now dead

Last suggestions. Service switch is off. (But that kind of don't happen by itself).
Have you checked if it possible to put it in apx mode? Have you done the nvflash/wheelie/flatline backup?

Could do with a little help, I think my N5 is dead

Hi all...
I think my N5 is buggered.
I was at a festival this weekend and my phone battery ran out so I left it in my bag for more of the weekend. On the drive back it was working fine as I was using GPs, making calls, using Gplay without any problems. As my GF wanted to charge her phone mine ran out again by the time I got home and I went to charge it as it was down to 2% but when I plugged the charger in it would not charge. It would start charging for a second then stop for a second and then start again. So I unplugged it and went to give it a re-boot and the screen came back on corrupted like this -

I have holding the volume down and power button to get to the fast boot menu and the screen does the same thing but this time while i'm holding it the screen with turn on and off wile vibrating 5-6 times before turning off.
I have even tried using fastboot to flash the recovery image onto the phone and it says everything has worked but again I get the corrupeted screen when I reboot.
Anyone seen or know of this problem? Or is it what I expect and it's got a hardware issue and needs to get repaired?
Thanks in advanced for any help or suggestions.

It's a problem with the flex cable, the screen, or possibly the motherboard.
A few people have had this issue.

Lethargy,
I had a feeling it was going to be a hardware issue. Thank you so much for the help... I'll get it sorted under my insurance then and get myself a temporary phone until then.
Cheers

Yes, i am using a orginal charger and usb cable. I test charger and cable on other phone and everything works . But before that I was charged phone with non-orginal charger maybe two or three times , in period of two months.
Did you get a black screen with a white "X" in the lower right or left corner?
Was there any flcikering on the screen or a Samsung power-sharing notification popping up?
Can you charge your phone with inductive chargers?

When you see that charging sign, press and hold the home button and power button at the same time.
This worked for me. Now my phone is charging normally.

power button isn`t working :(

hey!
since I replaced the display of my Z5 the power button isn't working! I can't power on the phone, but it turns on and can charge up...
what could be the problem?

Did you replaced it yourself or somebody replaced display for you ?
Maybe you disconnected cable or something, it is very easy.

well I did it myself. Fortunately I hadn`t put the back cover on and tried turning the phone on....
a repair would have cost me around 180 $ so I ordered a replacement part for 70$ from wtrigs, I have already done that successfully with my Z2...
today I put it apart again, checked every cable or connector, still isn`t working, and also the VOLUME DOWN buttown isnt clicking when pushing it...
I think I broke the main flex cable for all the buttons (POWER, VOLUME UP & DOWN, CAMERA) when I removed it using some tweezers...
here is the part that I think is broken:

it is not very expensive, if is that part
If buttons doesn't click maybe you didn't put the white(check picture) part back or its not mounted well...
