Have you tried to send a group message yet or made a circle or group?

Because you said no to hangouts being your sms service and she didn't?

here the newest g+, not released yet, version 4.3. it includes a new photo editor. enjoy http://goo.gl/zqp8mg

Just grasping straws here, but could it be related to the carrier allowing it or not? I don't have the option either BTW. Try switching sim cards if possible.

Switching SIM cards didnt help. It's something with the phone. I'll try version 4.3 of Google +, but there must be something else going on here! So strange!

Hangouts missing? Sounds more like a solution than a problem.

Haha this is crazy. I tried another messaging program and I still have the same missing group messaging settings.

I don't have the delivery report option. But have group mms. Hmm. There must be a common denominator somewhere. What is your carrier? Same plan?

same carrier, t-Mobile

Drag the Google settings app up into info. Do you both have the same build version?

CM 10.1 group messaging not working?

So I have noticed with cm10.1 there is now the option for group messaging in the settings menu of the default messaging app. Despite this, i do not receive "threaded" group messages, but instead, i get a convo for the group but the messages come to me from the individual people instead of on the group chat. They still comes as mms though and my messages will send as mms on the group chat so i know the functionality is there, but i do not know how to get it to be threaded.
I am thinking it might have to do something with our mms_config.xml. I don't want to copy and paste one from another device seeing as though that might have some bad consequences; theres a lot of information about it here on this reddit post.
Any ideas guys?
For those of you who don't know, a threaded group message looks like so:

I have to agree with somcom, that and cm10.1 was an alpha/rc that was really only a placeholder to get a working kernel to fire up cm10.2 and other 4.3 development. Any 'nightly', 'alpha', or release candidate (rc) is expected to be a bit unpolished or have bugs.

Wait so when I read that group messaging didn't work with 10.1 I assumed it didn't for any 4.3 roms which discouraged me from flashing any long story short, now I'm confused does it work with 4.3 roms or not?

It should as there were issues with blaze radios and almost nothing data related would work on anything unless the sgs2 uvmc6 radio was flashed also. I believe these kinds of issues have been resolved.

[Q] Missing Google Now Cards?

Since starting to use my Nexus 5, I've noticed Google Now seems a LOT less useful than before.
Compare the beginning of the list of cards currently on my Nexus 7 2012:
http://i.imgur.com/b934Q7T.png
With the cards on my Nexus 5
http://i.imgur.com/ksJLlyL.png
http://i.imgur.com/avQTrg0.png
Am I missing something obvious here, or is this a massive step backwards? Anyone else seeing this?
It's not just the options, I'm seeing obvious differences between the two devices in terms of cards appearing.
Running both devices in Australia, both with language set to English(UK), both with Google Now's language set to English(AU).
My Everything Else has 16 options. Try clearing data from Google Now and starting over.

I have never seen anything remotely like that in my Google Now!
I think Google just made all of them baked into the KitKat version. everything is based contextually on your usage. So everything is considered on but won't show unless you made a search for it. Example would be if you search Big Bang Theory, it would bring up TV episodes. They're just trying to trim down the fat in the settings.

My Nexus 4 was like that but my Nexus 5 seems to only want to tell me the weather so i have turned it off.
I'm noticing it too. None of my packages are tracking through Google now on my N5, but were on my N4.

It's what I'm hoping is true, but I still suspect (fear?) that I'm missing out on things I otherwise wouldn't have.

Private SMS

I'm in desperate need of an application which can hide SMS from a certain person without any notifications. Have tried numerous ones from the play store but none seem to work on KitKat can anyone recommend anything?
try this one

Mr. Number works really well also. No notifications and stores the text message in the "blocked" section of the app for later reading.

[Q]Google Dialer Keeps Phone Awake

I have noticed one of my biggest battery draining apps is the google dialer application.
For some reason it seems to keep the phone awake for hours on end, even when I do not spend very much time on the phone.
Stock, 4.4.3. rooted, thats it.
Any suggestions or ideas? I've tried clearing the dialer's cache and data, but it still keeps the device awake for no reason it seems.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone? Here are some screen shots.

mmh I've never seen that problem.
You could first try clearing data and cache of the app. If that doesn't work, maybe flash the factory images? Just to be sure it's not something on your side.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. Tried both of those. No luck .
I re flashed last evening and the bug is still there

Boot the phone into recovery and then wipe cache and dalvik cache, and then reboot the phone.
I think 4.4.4 addresses this issue, you should make a clean installation of the factory image (again) and see how it goes.

I flashed the 4.4.4 system and radio images.
Will report back. So far so good..... But I will confirm.

OK SO i think i MAY have figured out this bug.
I use the search function in the dialer app all the time for work. I call a lot of businesses in the area and i always use the dialer to look up their numbers. This is what I think causes the wakelock, as it triggers a search and looks up local businesses matching the number.
I've turned off this feature in the app, as well as the caller ID function and so far i am not having any issues. Will report back.
Just an update. I can trigger this bug in any ROM, including cyanogen mod and also paranoid android.
Here is the solution until Google offers a fix:
By leaving the above options unchecked, the wake lock will not trigger.

"Recent screen" stops showing my recent apps

I dont know when it occurs, but once it does, I have to reboot my phone in order for my recent apps to reappear on my recent screen. Anyone know what may be causing this?

I third this... Rebooting "solves" it.
Also since the latest update (13A), when I'm out and about my time goes 4 hours ahead. Sometimes I have to go into the settings and turn network time on and off to fix it.
I spoke with Verizon tech support and they are suggesting a factory reset to hopefully resolve whatever glitch is causing this to happen.

Update: I'm getting a replacement under warranty. It's a hardware issue.
Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
Hi all- do you use the "OK Google" voice feature in the Google app? If so, there is currently a known bug out there where if you use the voice command multiple times within a short period, all of your apps will be hidden from the recent apps screen.
Best you can do is a) don't use the Google App, b) when the issue occurs, reboot your phone, c) Browse to the app in your application manager and clear all data, and then set up your voice model again. Very annoying. I have the beta of the Google app and it does seem to be resolved. This is not a hardware or LG issue; it even affects the S7.
The issue is known in the Google community, and a proposed fix is supposed to roll out in the next few weeks: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/websearch/A7JWsN8I2kM/oM8RlnMaBQAJ.
How on earth is this a hardware issue?

I'm think my phone has a separate hardware issue not related to the recent apps screen issue.

Ok. I would laugh the Verizon rep you talked to out of the store if they thought that was a hardware issue.
Good think you got a new phone out of it.
Yeah, i was still within the one year warranty, so it worked out.
