Chaos is meant for CAF roms, so if your rom is CAF it is supported.
If your rom is AOSP, only versions up to 9.2 will work.

Yup, exactly. Beanstalk is based off of CM11, which is CAF, so it should work fine with Chaos.
Edit: Although Beanstalk is CAF, after checking out the Chaos thread it seems that it does not work with Beanstalk.
Edit2: Read the last paragraph of this post. This is probably why Chaos doesnt work.

Are AOKP ROMS CAF such as Dirty Unicorns?
Also how do you utilize the search feature so well? Whenever I use "search this forum" it brings up things that has nothing to do with my search? For instance if I search "Paranoid Android" it shows almost every ROM in the development section.

Yes, I believe AOKP based roms are CAF as well.
I dont use the "Search this forum" feature. I use the "Search this thread" box found in all threads. For example, on the Chaos kernel thread i did a search for "beanstalk". It then brought up a bunch of results where people had mentioned the word "beanstalk", and I found that they were having issues using it with the kernel.

And dirty unicorns is based off omni rom.

True. Meaning that if you are to go with DU, you'll need an AOSP kernel rather than CAF.

what you are asking is someone to compile aosp with a buzzword, and thats all. using the linaro toolchain will not increase your performance. the google toolchain has in it everything that the linaro toolchain includes, plus more. and im not talking anti linaro, im talking reality. all you are asking for is a buzzword. for that no one will waste their time.

Custom ROMs not based on CM for Moto G available

Hi Folks,
Maybe it´s a silly questions, but are there other non-Stock ROMs that CM-based available for our Moto G?
All other Custom ROMs are somehow based on or related to CM, or?
Am I right? Can somebody bring some light to my dark brain?
THX
There are other roms that aren't stock nor based in CM. The paranoid (PA) and the AOSP are examples.

PA is not an example, it uses the CM sources for our device. In fact, the builds we get - AOSPAL - are all based on CM's device specific repos and only use the frameworks and settings from PA.
AOSP is only ROM not based on CM.
To answer the OP, no there are no other type of ROMs for our device as of now. Either the ROM is based on CM or on Stock. We also have a firefox OS port, but that is also based on CM sources.

Only the nexus devices have PA based on AOSP. Our device is supported by AOSPA legacy ( use device repos from cm and are therefore called legacy).
If you don't believe me, check the github of AOSPA legacy.

I'm currently running Vanir ROM. It is indistinguishable from vanilla AOSP (on my Moto X). And for most users, the current iterations of CM12 are so lightly customized that they are, for all intents and purposes unadulterated AOSP too.
I suppose if one wants to split hairs, one could make the argument that these aren't pure AOSP. Then one would have to head over to the OnePlus forum and flash the new , very buggy 5.0 ROM (Not!).

Best to stay away from the opo forums for the serious stuff, the point I was making was just that you have either AOSP or CM and then everything comes from there really,
You need to be aware as you can have serious problems if you flash the wrong type of kernel, I came from a nexus so for me there was quite an important difference and had to watch what version you flashed, amazed actually at how slow development has been with lollipop, as you say a lot of work needed to find one with some customisations, will stick to kikkat till an offiical lollipop S version appears for the bacon

T300T CM11.0 nightlies?
Is it just me, or are all of the CM11 nightlies gone?
Some of the CM12 nightlies as well. Are there any mirrors?
Anyone have any CM11 roms where the Cast Screen function actually works?

you're not alone, as posted in another thread i cant find cm11 nightly for tf300t anymore everywhere!
i need to downgrade to cm11 from a dirty install of one of the last cm12 nightly but i wonder how can i if official cyano repo doesnt work...
so, if anybody can put somewhere the cm-11-20150105-NIGHTLY-tf300t.zip i really appreciate it!
CM11.0 4.4.4 dead?
It looks like all of the nightlies are gone.
I'm looking for a KitKat rom that allows:
- overclocking
- a working 'cast screen' function
- stability!
Are there any? It doesn't look like Lollipop is ready yet for a daily driver.

Overclocking is generally a kernel feature; try grimlock, geass, katkernel, or _that kernels with any KK ROM for overclocking. I was running a KK PacROM which was quite stable prior to switching to LP. Try KatKiss for a great LP ROM. I don't use cast screen so I can't help with that.

I'm still fairly new to this and wasn't aware that you could install a ROM with a different kernel; I'm used to just flashing and taking whatever is in the package.
Is there a more comprehensive guide on how to do this exactly? I'm enjoying the speed boost from the Zombi ROM which uses Grimlock's kernel, but when the docking station is plugged in the touchscreen is all over the place, so this isn't going to work for me.
OMNIrom seems to be updated fairly regularly and the docking station did pretty well, but I was locked into a stock speed.

Just flash the kernel zip file from recovery, wipe cache/dalvik, then reboot. On LP you can skip the wipe cache/dalvic step.

[Q] SlimRom question

Hi there people,
I'm thinking of trying SlimRom and I was just wondering many roms say "AOSP" and actually are CM based(which is AOSP afaik), is the SlimRom cm based or AOSP in it's pure form?
I'd like to try some AOSP roms(not based on CM)
P.S. If you know other roms with reduced size feel free to share

Rom talking, almost all AOSP roms use CM code... which doesn't mean they are entirely CM based. Afaik, Slim and AOSPA (and other projects) take many things from CM source but they keep their own line of developement, and in some aspects they diverge a lot. But in all cases, they use (as you stated) CM kernel base. Omni is the only one that's truly independent from cyanogen (rom & kernel), I think. Plus, you now got our manufacturer working on a pure AOSP rom, but I'm unsure if cyanogen did that or Oppo.

You're gonna have to be patient then. Or just try Slim, it may use the CM kernel but you're not going to notice that at all because kernel operations take place on a lower level behind the scenes.

You are referring about AOSP by OnePlus ..man still at alpha stage WAY too buggy for my taste, maybe when it's stable I'll try it.
Although here on xda some created patches and bugfixes but still I'm looking for rock-solid stability, I have speed(compared to my old and previous DHD) so I'm not seeking on testing 10 roms per week as I did in the past

I thought Robbie's was official, guess I was wrong. Like I said though, it really doesn't make a lick of difference, it's still built from Slim source, the One and only difference is that it's missing the official tag in the title, that's it. People all too often mistake that tag to actually mean something, it doesn't.

1+1 has already many bugs in it's latest 44S I really don't want anymore even if it's a glitched icon, a minor issue or something that most people don't care about. I see "official" as a "we've test it more than just flash it and leave it for a couple of days"
I mean you know 1+1 has issue when 3rd party camera app is installed and you try to use flash on low light enviroment right? it's probably a driver issue although FV-5 app fix this(workaround), stock camera doesn't have that bug. So in SlimLP if I use the camera does this occur in a 3rd party camera app? ..this should be solved when CM12s hits the market, dunno if it's fixed in the not so official SlimLP
I guess I better back up and try it.. what I have to lose except some time? (I did flash with my previous DHD even 5-6 times per day)

Official definitely doesn't mean that. Take CM for example, it's done by a buildbot, no testing at all, and that's completely official. I'd take Robbie's builds over an official release any day of the week. That's what I'm saying, the perception that official is better is completely false.

CM is the worst example as even cm official builds are buggy sometimes(no proper testing and I'm talking about stable released not nightlies, the guy who build the cm camera app in the past had a long post mention it - nice guy)
I did an EFS backup, did a nandroid backup and doing currently mybackup backup(I use this for apps/contacts since android 2.3.6)
