[Q] Root questions - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Help on root? Do I have to unlock my bootloader from the Motorola website?
Because on my S2, all I had to do was use odin and stuff, didn't have to unlock anything.
What exactly does unlocking my bootloader do? Is it absolutely necessary for rooting or are they both the same thing?
Help me root please. Thanks!
First time Motorola.

yes, it is necessary.
you have to register for, what i can only see as a system to tell them you've voided your warranty.

You need to tell us more info. What firmware version on your device when you bricked? Can you still get into download mode? BTW, there is no way to unlock bootloder if you're on 4.3/4.4 firmware. You could unlock if using third party service for a fee of $50.00.

Please don't say F*c* you easy unlock when it was not the EZ unlock app, but you who hard bricked your phone. There was plenty of info around these forums warning about the bootloader being locked and the fact that use of the EZ unlock app would result in a brick. All you had to do to avoid this situation was do a little research ahead of time. Here is just one such thread where the information was readily available:

How do you Unlock the bootloader?

An no i don't mean is there a unlock for it, how do i come to research and exploit a bootloader? how do the developers do so, what software is used/ coding. do i ABD? how do i go about finding this out?
Wow no replies in a year ?? Lol they must fear loss of job security. Wish I could help but I am curious myself...
That's because samsung doesn't have locked bootloaders on their openline phones. If they do indeed lock the bootloader(like on some carrier phones) then no you cannot unlock it.
What samsung has is just knox. You modify your phone it marks your phone as warranty void and you all knox features become unusable. That's about it.
Bootloader Unlock ?
Hello,
what do you want to dow with your Note Edge?
You can't unlock a Bootloader of a Samsung-device. Samsung devices you can root with Odin. You can install a custom recovery as well.

[Q] What is the actual way to unlock & root a LTE with lollipop?

There are many threads about how to unlock and root but things get old much fast, I feel like FAQ is too old to follow.
I prefer ask before make same thing wrong.
I have a Moto G 4g with lollipop locked and orginal, so I decide to put new thing now because same things are annoying me in the phone, I think xposed can help me well, so I only need unlock and put root, but need to know the last way to do this, I know unlock is easy but what recovery to flash and how? What I need to root? Is there same problem with xposed in lollipop?
I did come from Razer D3 mediatek, had not unlocked bootloader but was easy to root and te best way to custom was with xposed, so im more "acquainted" with this.
any help on this would be appreciated.
Please someone answers!!
If your phone is not retail and your carrier locked your bootloader, it's not currently possible to unlock the bootloader or permanently root it. You can only temproot it currently.
If you want to flash a recovery your bootloader must be unlocked. You cannot flash anything with a locked bootloader. But if you wish to know, you can use TWRP or CWM for peregrine phones.
