Hi all, i'd like to introduce my free app Market Unlocker to you.
It's similar to MarketEnabler which let you access paid apps in Android Market, but add funny functions as
1. Support Android Market 3.4
2. Support download & buy paid app in Amazon Appstore outside USA.
As you might have known, android market and amazone appstore will stop you from downloading and tell you that it's not supported in your region. Why? Because the server's checking your ip address countries as well as your provider. For amazon users registered with us credit card and billing address, it's frustrated when you're not in usa.
Market Unlocker will force visiting Market and Appstore via a proxy, that makes traffic looks like from USA. Unlimited access any more.
Find out more details in Android Market by search "Market Unlocker". I also attached an apk, but check out from android market is still recommended.
Believe it will help you.
Looks promising. It is a [ROOT required + Acquire IMEI] app.
But I cannot find a working US proxy yet to test its function (download apps from Amazon). What a pity.
getting a working USA proxy is hard
Pick up where to get working proxy in Q&A of Android market app descriptions. Google also...

Works great on my SGS2.
However, I tried it on the alpha ICS roms. (from samsung). It could not get su access and force closed. Might be about my setup though.
Does not work on CM9 alphas too.
Is it an ICS problem?
Hmm tried on nook color with cm9 preview and the market change works, yet the proxy setting says "invalid ip address or port number"
Thanks, i will try

Hi, thanks for your work.
Currently I try to download the GMail App, because the App isn't in the german Market.
I was able to fake the provider to Verizon USA and configured a proxy I found in the web. But the GMail App isn't available yet.
What went wrong?
The proxy??
could not make it work.
I bought the Pro version, got a proxy configured automatically and managed managed to buy and install fifa12 from the US market using these steps:
1. Turn on flight mode
2. Enable Market Unlocker and auto unlock
3. Got to system Setting => Applications => Manage applications => All => Market, and click “Clear data”
4. Reboot phone
5. Turn on Wifi/3G
6. Wait google service sync-up completed or refresh in Gmail.
7. Open Market Unlocker, enable proxy
8. Open Google Play. Buy your apps.
Turn off flight mode.
Click to collapse
My question is this, if the device is rebooted with proxy off or flight mode is enabled and disabled, do we still need to do the above steps to be able to buy apps from the US market?
works good on my sgs
is it just me or does this app no longer work ?
for example enable it then use with or without proxy and i still can't download or use google wallet, whereas before i could.
Something has changed...

It this working for anyone?
Oddly my transformer lost the google play books and google play movie apps while traveling in Europe. My Galaxy Nexus was unaffected despite sharing the same wifi connections. I understand they aren't available in the market..but odd they seemed to vanish from the transformers GUI. I had to uninstall and reinstall them the first time I reentered a country they were available in.
Anyone with similar experiences internationally? Kind of annoying if you can't trust it to keep the video and books app if you take content with you...

I'll let you know if any of this happens to me since I'll be traveling to Europe soon.
Last time I was over there I had an update come through on my NexusOne and the language got switched so every time I searched it was in another language. It really only affected Google properties for mobile web but it was really annoying and it took a while to fix it.

Thanks, I'll be curious. It either happened in Belgium or Luxembourg. Since I traveled through several countries, I'm not completely sure. I noticed it in Luxembourg, but it could have happened in Belgium. I know it wasn't an issue in Germany or The Netherlands.

Did try to get to connect to a TP links based Acess point @ Beijing Marriott (exec room level flloor)
so when asked at F Desk they offered me rooms at non Exec Level ! NO !!
no such luck - TP links have a weird G freq as it seems not to comply with Int Stds etc
but funny enough the WIFI in the GOLD LOUNGE did connect
(saw acess point as DLINK)
I did get to G Store ( HK based ) just as Google Main page
Hope this is helpfull

That's normal. I have just the app section because the rest is not available in my country. When I go to the UK though all the services appear.
There was once a app called market enabler. IIRC it brings the full layout back. If you want to buy something though you've to use a proxy.

Yes, I understand the market changing to only have the available sections in that country is normal. That happened on my phone and tablet. The Play Books and Play Movies apps completely going away from the device, that only happened on the Transformer.
This gets worse and worse...
I'm in the US now, and after my last reboot, the Google Play Books app went away, and no matter what I do, it won't come back. I have the Books section in Google Play, but when I select it, it says I need the newest Books app. It takes me to the market page, but there are no buttons to install or uninstall. I tried side loading it, but it still doesn't show up in the menu, though it does make the Uninstall button show up for the market.
Any ideas short of doing a complete reset?
I also tried manually re-installing the last US blob file, but that didn't re-add Books.
I guess the difference between your tablet and your phone is that the phone has a SIM card that tells Android what country it actually belongs to. The tablet has no SIM and therefore must rely on WiFi geolocation for that purpose.
If Google Books is missing and you can't install it from the Market, it's probably disabled or frozen (same thing, different terms). Try opening the Settings app, select Apps, select the All tab, scroll to the bottom and see if Books is there. If so, select it and click the Enable button and you should be back in business. If it's not there, something really weird has happened...

As promised, I'm in Europe (Poland) and can begin to let you know what I'm seeing. I think the above quote MIGHT have something to do with it. I'm not sure of how your setup was @amaddux but, I'm completely on WiFi for now. I haven't seen a change and even the time was still GMT+5 (made for an interesting morning). Since this was all over WiFi everything is normal except for Play shows zl (local currency) for purchases.
Once I put a European SIM into my old phone (NexusOne GSM) and tether, it might change this. I'll keep you posted as I try different configurations and go to Germany.

Unfortunately, Books is not listed under All, either alphabetically or at the bottom, so I think I qualify under the "something weird has happened" clause so far.
The steps to get here as far as I remember are...
Movies & Books goes away after a week in Europe, while in Luxembourg, right after a visit to Belgium. Once leaving Luxembourg, in Germany, I'm able to uninstall both Book and Movies and re-install them, using the market. They both show up again. 5 days later, I'm in the US again, reboot, both apps vanish again. Movies I'm able to un-install and re-install and all is fine after a reboot. Books I'm unable to Uninstall. It shows up in the Market, but with no button. Side loading it make the Uinstall button appear in the market, but does not let it run on the tablet.
Update: I did find Books in the Play Market My Apps All tab. I Uninstalled it there, which then gave me the "Update" button. Once I updated it from there, it seems to be back. A quick reboot keeps it. So back to normal for now, just hoping this doesn't happen everytime I leave the country.
Ok, so I've been in Poland and Germany. Everything is working fine, books/movies/etc. It knows where I am since the cost of apps in Play change to local currency (zl) and search results need to translate. I've only been on WiFi networks though, not using a European SIM

Interesting. I was in Germany over a week with no issues also. It wasn't until either Brussels or Luxembourg that I had an issue with apps vanishing. I would bet on Luxembourg, since I only had access to "Apps" in the Market while there. Either way, everything is good for now.

I should clarify, Luxembourg is a country, although it is also a city, but in this case the fact it is a country is what matters.
Going to SE Asia and downunder next week.
Let's see what's the story with Play there.

I took at trip to the Dominican Republic and lost access to the TV Shows section (after I had already purchased and downloaded a bunch of TV shows no less!)
I tried EVERYTHING to get it fixed, but for some reason, every time I would uninstall and reinstall the app, it kept giving me the "DR" version (you can see what version is installed in the Settings menu of the particular App).
I ended up having to factory reset the device.

Had you tried clearing the data and cache or, uninstalling and reinstalling Play?
I have two emails with same address and informations, but my main one when I switch to that I don't see any of US's apps, but when I switch to the other one I can see all apps from US's store.
I tried clear my cache, remove and readd the address and still seeing the same?
If I don't login and try refresh playstore link I can see Pandora app but once I login then I don't see them anymore?
Anyone have the same problem here?
dont clear the cache, that does nothing. clear the data for the play store.

Check here and make sure you have the proper country for your account. https://www.google.com/settings/language
See if that helps.
It used to be a little more straight forward before everything Google went Google+.

It seems Google has unified all region settings to that account page I linked earlier. If it's not changing your region, I don't know what else to suggest unfortunately.

I just need some help if someone is willing...
1. I just moved to Canada from France where I used to have an Android phone and Android tablet. I've changed every single location setting imaginable in every single settings menu on my new Blu Life One X and STILL the Play store insists on showing up in French with euros. Where do I make this change? The new phone has a Canadian SIM and logs in all day from a Canadian location. Even Google Maps knows where I am.
2. Notifications are pop ups to tell you that something is new in an app: a message, an update, etc.
Syncing is the application connecting with servers to update data.
Notifications seems easy to find but is there one SPECIFIC place to stop both of them if one wants? I feel like there are apps doing background syncing that I don't want to be doing so and can't for the life of me find where to get them to stop.
Thanks for any help guys. I appreciate it.

I'm assuming so that the phone itself instead of just your apps would know which region it is in, therefore, showing the currency for that country. Using just location services may not be enough.

Not necessarily French but at least CANADIAN, its about getting the phone set to the correct region, not necessarily a specific language. You WERE in France so I suggested French, that's all.

Sign into Google Wallet and click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
Click Edit next to the "Home address" listed and update the address (please note this is different from the "Address book" which holds shipping addresses).
Open the Google Play website and navigate to any paid item available for download at Android Apps on Google Play.
Click to begin a download until you reach the 'Accept and buy' screen (no need to complete the purchase).
Close Google Play and clear your browser cache if you're on a desktop or laptop computer.
Wait 30 minutes.
Re-open the Google Play. You should now see the Play Store that matches the country in your legal address.
(If this doesn't work, remove any existing cards)
