[Q] torrent client apps - General Questions and Answers

I have used uTorrent, aTorrent, and tTorrent and sometimes they work great other times they download very very slow.. like 100bytes/s - 3Kb/s instead of 3.2MB/s but if I tether and use uTorrent on desktop or laptop with same exact torrent file, they will download properly around 3.2MB/s..
I increased peer connections and such and I connect to 50+ peers and looking at peer list a lot of they ones I'm downloading from great on PC they are slow on phone itself..
Do some clients restrict cellphone users bandwidth?
Are torrent apps just not as evolved as the PC torrent clients?
Is there any torrent apps that are better than others?
Thanks!

they are like that only....if u want faster downloads u should have a wifi connection with a great speed

My LTE is fast.. I can download max at 4.3mb/s when tethering or using some other app.. Just torrents don't work right all the time

Just use zbigz.com or bytebx.com if ur download data is less or buy an account and download torrents at full speed through ur browser

What do you use to upload your photos/files?

I was wondering what you guys use to upload your photos/files to a PC/internet without connecting the cable everytime? Built in Android has support for Flickr and Picasa. But I've also seen a DropBox app.
What do you guys use?
there is an app in the market (a free one) to transfer files to pc via wifi, i forget the name tho, search for upload in the market and it should come up.
dropbox is good for uploading to the net although i just do it through Opera browser (free in market) the only browser that seems to allow uploading to the internet.
Hope this helps
I'm giving PicPush a try. It seems perfect for what I'm looking for. If it works as advertised, I'll drop the $3 or whatever on it.

There are some free FTP apps I use sometimes when I am at work and don't have my USB cable. Your phone becomes an FTP server and you can connect to it via WiFi using any ftp client software.
I use SwiFTP, it's nice and simple, but there are others out there as well. You can get SwiFTP in the market or go to swiftp.org I believe.

Noob query

I have a noob question:
Is it possible to use your Android phone to CREATE torrent files?
I use tTorrent Pro and have Smart Torrent Pro, both high-dollar torrent clients from tha Play Store and neither have the capability, as far as I can find.
The only thing simple is the belief in simplicity.
Create torrent files ? - you mean you wanna make a .torrent file with tracker list and all (could be possible)
Or upload files to torrent (practically no ! there could be work arounds).
Afaik there are no apps for this i suppose

That's what I figured, unless make them on the PC first, transfer to phone the do it...kind asinine though

If its for legit torrents, I'm sure there is a webscript(maybe even with a mobile layout) that would let you set up trackers for torrents hosted off a webserver. However if your trying to host tracker files from your phone good luck, probably would require a ubuntu port and a solid wifi connection.

Lol never mind torrent Pro has that exact capability. Ty all. Case CLOSED

Torrents apps are not working.

Ive tried top 4 torrent apps from the market, and i have same exact issue with all of them. No torrent will start downloading. Same torrents work fine on my PC using same wifi at the house, but not on the tablet.
On tablet is shows 0 seeds, 0 peers, 0 trackers, 0 everything, ...yet it states that its downloading, or trying to download, and it shows the size of file.
I have gone through all the app settings and i cant figure out what im missing. Currently im using ATorrent Pro.
Internet on the tablet works fine, google store works fine, games that need internet access work fine, maps, etc etc.
Help.
Thanks in advance.
p.s.
Im running [ROM] Android Revolution HD 3.6.
Does the site/tracker in question allow said clients? Lots of sites ban lots of clients.

I'm able download same exact torrent on my PC and laptop.
Yeah but most mobile clients won't have the same version string as their desktop counterparts. Are you absolutely sure the mobile client version is in their allowed list?
Also a quick search revealed lots of people having the same problem with random devices. I would check every client's forums/faq/support to see if they can provide further insight.
I got it working.
For some reason, HotSpot Shield app has to be completely closed and not just turned off (disconnected), then torrents work.

Great app.
Hello, I am already using SHAREit app on my Samsung Galaxy and iPhone 5 but I am wondering that if its available on PC/Mac or not, can anyone help me out with this? I found this site claiming that SHAREit is available on Mac but I can't find its credibility, so can anyone confirm that its available for Mac or not.
Yes, you are correct, SHAREit app is always amazing in front of its peers like Xender and Zapya but and that's why it's much better to download SHAREit to make file transfer much easy in Android and iPhone.
Great SHAREit

Different kinds of data transfer application are available on the Web like Xender, Zapya, Superbeam etc, but one of the best apps where I personally used is shareit, it's also available for shareit for PC and laptops. Its data transfer rate is compared to other apps is high and low network wifi easily to transfer data. After reading different views and getting more information about shareit.
Download this For Mac too.

[Q] Will SHAREit & SuperBeam work without WiFi Direct?

I have been searching a lot about different file transferring apps. After googling a lot I kept stumbling into three apps; Xender, SuperBeam & SHAREit. I found that Xender can trasnfer file with just WiFi (without WiFi Direct) by using Virtual Router & Client concept. But I couldn't find anywhere if SuperBeam & SHAREit can do the same... All my SmartPhones have WiFi Direct & so do my friends' SmartPhones. So there is no way of checking if they work without WiFi Direct. So can anyone please confirm or verify, if SuperBeam & SHAREit apps will work wihtout WiFi Direct?
I have a small question, will Xender work with just Bluetooth (without WiFi & WiFi Direct)?
Hi Satya,
Xender uses Wi-Fi direct technology which means that it can transfers data up to 50 times Bluetooth speed, Most of the Smartphone today have Wi-Fi
There is no reason to use Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi direct so Xender never carry Bluetooth functions.
Thanks
Firstly your question does not belong to this forum
And answer is superbeam can also use hotspot to send files, for that you need to go into superbeam's setting and then go into sending and select preferred direct mode as hotspot (instead of auto)

I asked about Bluetooth compatibility because I wanted to cover all bases. And thanks for clarifying that. But don't you think it will be cool if Xender was able to send file even when wifi and wifi direct facilities are unavailable?
I've been messing around with file transfer apps myself. On the play store there's "WiFi...." by app dev dubloo (I think) its been a bit since. Anyway, that app allows files from device to a computer with an easy to use interface via web browser. I guess the app acts like a server. If you are interested... ICE COLD APPS have *Servers*/*Synchronize* "Ultimate" by way of the play store. Plus, there is a support or feedback thread for each here on XDA. If you were looking at using superbeam I would recommend picking up the pro key as well. The main app functions well on its own, like, the pro key adds just enough at the right price to say heck with it and pick it up for $3 or so. There are a couple different options to choose from before starting a file transfer, too. And I'm pretty sure+don't quote me+ that each option has a brief description of the way the files move from device to device. Also, there is a windows app to compliment. Last, certainly not least -SimPfile(also on play) I think using WiFi direct. Like, both devices need to be on the same WiFi network. Less options than superbeam, no pro key. And for what you pay for it, its free, BTW... It gets the job done if you are looking for a straight forward app without the bells and whistles. And just to name drop, FX file explorer has a small pay once add-on for media sharing also. Feeling adventurous? Tired of of the run of the mill apps? Give that a shot.... Its been in production and updated since either the end of GB or the beginning of ICS. Each of those apps has been good to me.✌?
just an edit - browsing xda app section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55878697
