Hello, Im a noob and I have spent 2 weeks or prob more on reading and messing around with him phone.
I have so far been able to root and install the premium version of Rom Manager. I have been trying to install clock work recovery so I can flash a Rom using the manager but I get signature verification fail. from what I understand since im on 3e I cannot install the update.
how in the world can I get this to work? I tried flashing the kernnel and other methods that I have read but no luck, any help is appreciated.

[Q] Lots of Questions about Bootloaders, Recovery & Roms

Hi Everyone,
I have had my XT925 for a few years now and I usually come on XDA and check out whats happening on here.
I have finally reached the point where my phone has slowed down to a snails pace.
So in order to breath new life into it I am hoping to install a custom rom but I am so lost it is not even funny.
I have tried doing research but there is just so much out there and I am feeling lost. (Sorry to be a noob)
I am hoping someone can help me out with the questions I have.
1. I have a Fido (Rogers) XT925, it is my understanding that if I go to Motorola's website I can unlock the bootloader there (not that I really know what that does as of yet)
2. After I unlock the bootloader, do I then need to root first? or do I install a Custom Recovery? What do I install? I am very lost at this point.
3. After that I assume that the rest is pretty easy I either install CM11 or Slimkat from what I am reading.
Again any help is greatly appreciated. I am fairly technical but the most I have done to this phone is root it a while back (I lost root since, I got stuck in a boot loop)
Thanks again ahead of time!

if your phone was running acceptably some time ago, a simple factory reset (after you backup data!!!) will get it back to that condition.
or you can go the custom route. answers to your questions below.
1. yes
2. the recovery you need will depend on weather you are on JB or KK now. both can be found in the dev or orig dev forums. after install you can flash a su zip from the new recovery to gain root.
3. if you are on JB now you will need a JB base rom, if you are on KK now you will need a KK base rom. where it can get confusing is, just because it says in the rom 4.4 or whatever, that doesent necessarily mean the base it KK although it can be.
Okay thank you going to attempt tonight but don't be surprised if there is a post later on saying help I bricked my phone

Also if anyone wants to help me step by step on Skype or something in an hour or two I would be very grateful!

Install Rom - No computer

What's up guys. I'm running into a problem and I need help. Google searching is failing me, but I'm sure there is probably a blatantly obvious way to do this.
I'm trying to install a Cm12 lolipop rom on my stump rooted tmobile Lg g3, but I dont know what to do.
I need a custom recovery but all of the ones I'm finding need a computer. All I have is my phone and my wifi. So where can I find and how do I install a custom recovery to install the rom?
Thanks for any help.

(Newbie) D6603 root

Hi.
I have recently bought a secondhand d6603 on Android 6.0.1, build number 23.5.A.1.291
I need to find a way of rooting my phone (easiest way)
I have rooted phones before but only by using Kingroot etc
I have been going round in circles looking at websites explaining it but don't understand some of it.
All I want is an easy explanation of how to do it that I can follow.
Can I root without unlocking Bootloader? If not, how do I do it?
I really need someones help if possible. Like I say, the easiest way possible would be great.
Thanks in advance. Love the group
You can keep locked bootloader as long as you use ROMs with stock kernel. They will specify this and most here are for LB.

This will get you recovery the fastest way and from there you can flash a pre-rooted .zip or custom ROM
Many thanks for that, however, I managed to remove the Bootloader and install TWRP. First thing I did was do a backup using TWRP but now I am stuck in a bootloop and don't know what to do :crying:
I reinstalled the backup just incase it was something like that, but even after reinstalling the backup, I'm still in bootloop.
