what do you guys think ? ! will it work in UK ? and has anybody bought a phone from Korea over the net ? always wonder if you would actually get the goods ? :good:

Looks like it works on bands 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8 - So it should be good for EE's current network in the UK (bands 3 and 7) and Three's (band 3), but not band 20 used currently by O2 and Vodafone. To confuse matters further, EE also own bandwidth on band 20, while Vodafone own bandwidth on band 7.
Long and short - I'd wait for an international version.

Its good phone. The textured back however is slippery. Not a good combo. The phone feels faster than my Note 3, however in benchmarks its not as fast. The camera is x 10 better than the note 3's specially in low light.
Here's a quite unboxing of the F350S version I got from Korea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_8qSLuWc-c

The G3 will most likely have the better specs of all 3. And it's their flagship phone.

I can't see what else the G3 would have over this, unless the bump up the resolution to QHD and offer a micro SD slot. Also people think this is to big of a phone. Besides that, maybe a bump in pixels on the camera to help with marketing. Besides that, don't see anything crazy. Only thing I wish this phone had, was stereo speakers like the Z2 or HTC one. That and a bigger battery. Still an amazing phone and love where you can shrink the screen for one handed use... Love it!

I can't tell you how excited I am to hear the thoughts that this camera is not only better in low-light as well as overall than the note 3.
I am disgusted in the note 3's both auto focus and low light performance.

For me it the best device out there, but with Note 3 on the same height. Both have almost identical hardware specifications. I chose the Note 3 because of the awesome S Pen included and the software around it. I love to draw, and I'm a Draw Something 2 addict...so yeah, Note 3 was a better choice for my needs. The S Pen is incredibly accurate and the floating dot without touching the display is perfect for drawing

Bought one last week. Love it. But be careful of the 4.4.2 Ext SD access problem. If you rely on your Ext SD a lot and don''t plan to root your phone, you probably should look elsewhere or wait for a fix/update.

It's the policy of Google since Kitkat. Don't like it - don't buy it, that simple
Even all Galaxy like S4 or Note 3 has this "bug"
The apps can now write only to external_SD/Android/data/appname folder, but can read any files from SD. So devs must update their apps to comply

Im tempted to take the ota on my s4 and note 3...observe the issue then take the devices back to where I bought them (outright I may add) and demand my money back for them screwing up my device.
I bought both from rogers who is also my carrier....cant see how they could refuse..its their ota that "broke" the device lol.
This is just one small example of why I never take otas these days..the updates cause issues and take away features it seems.

Help choosing a phone..

Hi
I'm planning to move on from my SGS 2 to a newer model.. but I'm not able to make up my mind.
I'm interested in the 4G SGS 3 though I've been thinking about the next nexus phone from LG or the upcoming HTC One X+...
My current phone is working perfectly fine but I'm looking for a phone with more speed as well as with 4G/LTE..
Should I wait it out for early next year to have better choices or should I just go in for the SGS 3?
By the way, Samsung is my preferred manufacturer, followed by HTC.. I've no idea how LG phones are in terms of build quality, support, etc.
Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Thanks.. I like the SGS3 a lot, though it's just so difficult to decide on one phone...
By the way, here in Finland, we have a deal going on for the Galaxy Nexus, with the current price of 370€ (http://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/s?s=1&q=51397+or+23156) and is valid until next Monday 21.10 and this seems to be the best deal in Finland at the moment. The standard price is ~450€ I think...
Is there any sense is getting the Galaxy Nexus considering there are the newer Nexus devices coming up? In particular HTC “J Butterfly” Nexus 5 (along with the LG Nexus as mentioned previously)?
Thanks again. Cheers...
Edit: Also, regarding the processor, I'm no expert but from the reviews and reports, I see there are the Tegra 3 processors (like the one in HTC One X+) or the Qualcomm 'snapdragon' processors or Exynos processors and similar... Which is the better one? Should I chose a device that comes with a specific processor if I want to have a speedy, fast, high end phone?
And of course, I would like a manufacturer that regularly updates the OS without major delays whenever a new Android is being released...
Well I have the nexus, and that price is very very high. Ofcourse it is new from store but I have my nexus for 275 euro's. Second hand but only 6 month's old. Great phone but if I were you, I should wait for the gs4. Depends on how fast you need a phone, considering the gs4 is coming out in march 2013. If you can't wait I should definately buy the HTC one X+ or the GS3.

I'm not in a real hurry to get a new phone as my current SGS2 is working great (and there is a possibility that JB will arrive soon for the SGS2)... But I just wanted to kind of 'upgrade' from the SGS2 to a more powerful, newer phone... Hence my questions regarding should I really wait (though I understand it's a kind of silly question considering how many new devices keep popping up every month) or just go in for a model such as the SGS3 or HTC One X+ that's been proven to be a great phone....
Basically I can wait for the new one.. I'm looking at having a new one by March/April 2013.
If you can wait just wait Mate, I know your feelings so many new phones but can't choose a good one and every time there is coming a new one out.

Work phone with an exact requirement/feature
Background:
I have just bought a Motorola Defy Plus. The reason I purchased it was - I wanted a phone that could allow me t record work calls and Defy Plus seemed promising as it enjoys good amount of support in the developers here and it was like very cheap. Now when I see the work involved in rooting and flashing custom rom I find myself not too sure about my capability of managing the whole process. Even if I do manage the rooting and flashing the custom rom, I still do not have any definitive information if call recording will be possible
New search:
Given the above now I am exploring any other phones that will allow me to take care of this requirement of recording my calls incoming and outgoing , without speaker, in the stock straight out of the box condition. Besides this particular requirement my usage of the phone is very mundane - some voice calls, minimal texting , little bit of email, no games , minimal camera, once in a while a couple of minutes of music if ever.
So if any of you can give me a suggestion i.e. which phone and which app - if you have a working combo - which will solve my problem shall appreciate it very much.
Cheers
Wait, even if the nexus devices aren't to your liking they are going to drive the price of current devices down. I have the SGS3 but sources / docs for exynos processors are sketchy so support isn't stellar. TBH if support matters go with nexus although you'll have to sacrifice sd support.

I would recommend the G3. You can wait for the next phone to come up but you'll find that there is always a new phone about to be launched so you can wait forever. I've recently transitioned to the g3 and enjoy it very much. Liked it a lot better once I rooted and put a JB rom on it.

Thinking of replacing my samsung note 2

I have sold my s3 and got a note 2 since december from last year.
The reason i bought such a huge phone was for the s pen. It helped me in college for taking notes, but then ive bought an ipad which can work for the same purpose, except without the s pen.
Nowadays im just not finding the note 2 practical for everyday usage. Its just too big.
So now im Thinking of selling it and either buying either an s4, htc one or xperia z.
Can someone give me feedback on those phones?
I love the design of sony phones, but i also cant live without the features of samsung phones

I can't think of any reason the s4 wouldn't be a good choice.
I would recommend the HTC one. Reason why is because you're coming from a note 2 which is pretty much the same as an S4 minus a couple of features and the 1080p display. The Xperia Z would be a very bad choice as it has sub par battery life, lags and the display is really a letdown. The HTC one stands out with is fantastic display, it's flawless performance, the amazing boomsound, the phone looks beautiful and dev support is excellent.
At the end of the day everything is a matter of preference but do yourself a favor, whatever phone you choose make sure it's between the S4 or HTC one, the XZ is really not that good. I wanted to also recommend the optimus G pro but you said you want something smaller. Cheers.

Neither the HTC One or S4. If you are thinking of getting a phone for long term, you would be better of waiting for a Snapdragon 800 CPU phone to be released soon instead of getting a Snapdragon 600 S4 or One.
i'll earn money to buy it
Do you require the use of a MicroSD? If the answer is yes, then you can forget about the HTC One. (Say all you want about how it has 64GB internal storage. MTP is so horrendously slow and unstable that copying a 3GB Bluray file simply doesn't work.)
If you can, wait for September. The IFA will be hosted early september, and many will be announing their new phones there. Most are switching to an S800, which is more powerful.
If you can't wait, I'd suggest going with the S4.
Im not really in a big hurry, but what new flag ships are rumored to be shown?
Since you really like S Pen feature. Galaxy S4 should be your choice.

Getting a Moto X instead...

This is kinda weird coming from a guy who has been a Samsung guy since the Captivate back in the day. I've had the OG Note, and I currently have a Note II.
I had the chance to get my hands on both the Note 3 and the Moto X side-by-side, and I have to say, I was more impressed with the Moto X overall.
Don't get me wrong though, I think the Note 3 is a fantastic device, but there were a couple of negatives that stood out to me and desuaded my purchase impulse.
1. Performance: I was VERY surprised by this one. I would have thought that with the Snapgradon 800 and 3GB of RAM, this device shouldn't even flinsh when it came to performance. Sadly, even my current Note II felt faster and smoother in a lot of instances. Web browsing, using Maps, and various other UI animations, etc, all felt way more jittery than I would have thought was acceptable. The Moto X on the other hand, could seriously give an iDevice a run for its money as far as real-world preformance and fluidity is concerned, just to give you an idea.
2. The new S-pen: Never mind all the new features; the new pen itself feels kinda flimsy compared to the previous generation. Seriously, I could feel the plastic of the whole pen flex under the pressure of just pressing the button.
3. Region locking: This is just the final straw for me. I travel a LOT, so this is a total deal breaker if I can't swap SIM cards from other regions. I don't know why Samsung decided to do this, but it was a bad move for this customer...
Honestly, in the brief time I had with both devices, the one thing that I will be sad about not having is that screen on the Note 3; it's simply a wonder to behold.
The Moto X has a great screen too, but it's no Note 3 by any stretch.
Anyway, that's all! Maybe the region locking can be sorted out by the dev community here, and hopefully the performance issues can be fixed with updates. Until then, my money isn't going to Samsung...
That's all!
Wow, I had completely different experience. I felt the note 3 was so much faster then the 2. Also Google maps recalculated do fast it almost mind boggling. One con I swear maps has a different annoying voice. But I might be crazy.

I haven't actually got my hands on a Note 3 yet, but I've used the Moto X side by side a Nexus 4, and I was disappointed in the Moto X.. and I find the Note 2 to handle better than the Nexus 4 (at least for what I get to do during the 30 minute play sessions). And so.. transitively, since the general consensus is that the Note 3 is a step up over the Note 2, I feel like the Note 3 would be a much more favorable option. But hey, it's your phone. As long as you're happy, everything is all good!

My wife is using a Moto X on Verizon and I am on a TMO Note 3. Both are excellent phones and they suit both of our uses. Note 3 feels faster than the Moto X in my opinion, but not by much. My wife will probably say the opposite. Good choice with the Moto X. I can't see someone regretting that decision.
I'm going from note 2 to moto x as well. If the moto customizations with voice don't blow me away then I'll return for a note 3.

After all my complications with the Droid Razr I refuse to ever use Motorola again. Terrible terrible terrible experience. I have sent my phone in for repair/warranty more than 10x. The non-removable battery means it will go bad quickly and once it does, your kinda screwed. Hate my Droid Razr with a passion. Hopefully they've corrected their mistakes in the Moto X, but as far as I'm concerned I cant trust them to do it.
My wife is rocking the s4, and had the s3 before that. I've always been jealous of how well her phones worked so I decided to get the Note 3 . So this will be my first Samsung device, and hopefully I will have a good experience with it.
Good luck to ya, old chap. Don't see why you felt the need to tell us, but good luck anyhow.

Thought about the moto x, but have decided I can't have a phone without a removable battery. I travel a lot and being able to swap batteries is something I've gotta have.

True another big reason i didnt or havent bought an htc one. and also no sdcard slot kills it too. but phone felt really nice. if i didnt like 1080p and higher ppi screens and didnt care about size or sdcard and battery it would be a great device. moto was so close to having a home run. that phone with a 5" 1080p screen, removable battery and sdcard, and the dev support with unlocked bootloader etc etc phone would be a huge seller. i think that should be the next nexus phone.
Note II faster than Note 3 ?!?.

THIS. dont know how people say this

[Q] Hmm, What phone should I get

So, I'm in the market for a phone soon since UPS lost my Nexus 4 and I put insurance on it. I want something as big as the note but I want all the good stuff on it, SD Card, 1080p and mainly Upgradability. I'm thinking Note 2 or Optimus G Pro. Anything else out there? I'm on Tmobile btw and I like the LTE not HSPA+. My limit is $400

The Note 2 is awesome - pretty much everything else you stated, and of course the proprietary samsung apps. But the best piece of advice I can give you, go hands on before buying! Hope this helps
Have you noticed the sony z1?

I've tried the Note 2. I liked it too. The LG was pretty nice but I haven't touched it yet.

What about the Samsung galaxy Mega 6.3? Has 1080p,Micro SD Card and has LTE around the $400, But it's a little bit bigger than note 2 (~0.8 inch)
The mega only has a dual core though

That's a problem since 400$ is quite low nowadays.
Since the new phones cost around the 600$ except the Nexus 5 which is 350$ but doesn't has a SD card Slot.

Any former Note 3 users?

Thinking of a move from the Note 3 to this device.
How does the camera and sound quality, screen really compare? I've seen some reviews, but I'd like to get real user input from anyone who has used both.
Greatly appreciate any feedback.
Sorta' dead around here. No custom recovery yet, no custom ROMs.
Sad that such fine hardware gets overlooked.

My wife has a note 3 which I have obviously seen but haven't played with it much. The sound quality on the LG seems as good, if not better than the note and perhaps a little louder.
The screen...... the note 3 has a beautiful screen but IMHO I prefare the more natural colours of the pro 2 and, of course the screen is slightly larger which, when streaming movies etc, looks considerably larger as it is slightly wider and loses the on screen buttons.
As for the camera, both seem excellent but I do not have the knowledge to assess this on a technical level.
Personally, I prefare the pro 2 over the note 3 ......perhaps I'm a little biased as I own one and not the other.

I much prefer the G Pro 2 to the Note 3, I didn't have the Note 3 long because of the lag in the Touchwiz UI. The buttons being on the rear of the G Pro 2 are so much better. Notification lights front and rear, the 5.9" screen is fantastic. My only advice would be a 32gb model as the apps lag a little if run from a Micro SD card. The camera is superb and the sound quality great also! Hope this helps.

I had the same thought, but in reality, I won't be happy unless there's development going on, and right now, we have no custom recovery, no custom ROMs, and no sources to build from. This is an incredibly amazing device and a great value for the money, but sadly, I doubt it would be a good option if one wishes to keep up with Android.
You can for this bad boy now with the same for method for galaxy s5

I think he's trying to say that the Root method by that one dude and GEOHOTZ(PS3, iPhone), will work for this phone. Which I'm pretty sure is incorrect because it will only DEFINITELY Root phones made before June 13th, 2013. Lol. Yeah that's ironic. It's on the XDA Portal page.
I do not recommend getting this device. It literally is something LG decided(from the looks of it), to just release just so they can say they have a phone bigger than others. I really advise against getting this phone. Get a G3 or just keep your Note 3. Besides, this phone is a complete downgrade from a Note 3. And I don't mean specs. What's the point of having all these specs if you can't utilize them as a flashaholic?!

Exactly.
Thank you very much for your response.
You can root it via towel root, the same method as the s5. For the record, I like my g pro 2 more than my note 3, to each his own.
