New battery setup? - HTC Sensation

Hello, i'll recieve a new battery tomorrow. (original htc sensation one)
Do i have to charge it with the phone closed for like 2 days before actually using it ?

No need
Just take couple of charging cycles..
Do a full charging at 1st , use cellphone till battery downs to 6-7%
Recharge again to 100%
Do this 3-4 times to see battery backup

Ditto. This procedure should be just fine. Use your phone as you would normally. When it gets low, plug it in and charge it up to 100%. Do this another 2-3 times and you should be set.

Ok, just got my battery.
I didnt charge it since i got it. So i simply charge it to 100% when it gets to 2%.
After a few charges it should recognise the new battery, right?
Its not like i have to clear battery cache or let the phone to discharge completly and afterwards to let it charge closed?
Edit: it already lasts much longer

[Q] Battery Lag?

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Sensation. Whenever I fully charge it and then remove it from the charger, use it for like an hour or two, the phone still thinks the battery is 100% charged. When looking inside the battery usage, it shows the graph with 0s underneath it, while in the previous screen where you see the apps battery usage it says 2h 5m 13s or something like that.
This wouldn't really be a problem, but when I started up Maps Navigation and plugged the charger in the car, it wouldn't charge because it still assumed the battery was 100% charged!
Any of you also having this problem? Thanks in advance!

Does it stay 100% forever? Then you may have the inexhaustible battery... (not sure if this is grammaticaly correct )
I wouldn't consider this a problem. You can download a battery monitoring app from the market and see what's going on with your phone and if the 100% that it's rerporting is correct. Also, check that the battery contacts are clean.
Not sure my phone does that but it can be on half charge then when I reset phone it's gone up a notch. This morning it didn't look like it had charged although it had been plugged in. When I switched it was on orange then it did the charging animation for a few seconds without charger plugged in then stopped on full. Odd.
Mine stays on 100% for a couple of hours too, has done since I got it.
I think perhaps HTC are "cheating" (or using "creative coding", whichever expression you prefer) in the way they report the battery percentage. Make the battery appear better than it is. Just a theory, of course.

That happens to me a lot too. Woke up this morning, phone had been charging for nearly 5 hours, but was only on 82%. After a couple of minutes of the screen being on, it had leapt to 100% and stopped charging.
Also, once the battery is below about 20%, it will sometimes drop 2-3% at a time. Odd.
Looks like they totally screwed the battery meter hardware or something in the software. Remembers me of my iPod touch
Experienced the say.. hopefully either it will auto be fine due to charge cycle or via updates

The Battery driver that LG used for the G2X has the same problem,a simple reboot fixes it,hope this helps "temporarily" that is.Cheers

Thanks for your answer, so it's probably a general problem that may be fixed by either HTC or the Cooks that make ROM's for our beautiful new phones
Can you tell me how long it takes for your phone to fully charge? My phone needs 3-4 hours to fully charge..is this normal?!
Hmm mine doesn`t lag but it takes times to charge. Usually with my hd2 take around less than 2 hours to fully charge now with sensation around 3 hours

I received my phone yesterday and charged it for 4-5 hours throughout the day. Last night it was close to 100% while I was playing with it (off the charger). I then charged it over night for 9 hours. This morning the battery says it's at 50% but has 15 hours left.
Weird :\
Charge the battery with the power turned off overnight, in the morning unplug the charger, turn the phone on, and shutdown again, and plug the charger back for 30
mins phone still turned off. After that start using the phone normally, this way you calibrate the phones battery meter properly.

Weird Anker battery issue

Second day with the battery. I ran it down today to the point where it shut off and wouldn't turn on. I charged it with the phone off for about 30 minutes and turned it back on. The charge was 54%. Did it really charge that fast?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
I just checked mine and it shows that over the last 20 minutes mine has gone from 1-99% & that's just ridiculous.
Also it seems that even after 2.5 hours of charging with the phone off (first two times with the anker) it still doesn't turn the led to green
sent from HTC Sensation
Same issue..
I have the same issue...ran Anker battery down and recharged for 5 minutes, battery widget showed 54% charge, the System Returned charge was like 5% so there is an obvious disconnect there. I get a green light if I charge for 3+ hours, just left it charging at work. Until we get the Sensation rooted and can reset the battery stats, this probably will remain an issue.
I guess you can temp root it and reset the battery stats but I'll wait for perm root.
I read somewhere in this forum that you have to configure the phone to somedegree to show the correct battery status, no idea how though

My Anker should be here in a few days. As you suggested, you guys just might need to reset the battery stats. So you'll know, I used a battery calibration tool and it worked great under temp root. With stock battery, my % would spike pretty quick one way or another....it did help give me more steady readings. No worries there....
I have a similar issue with the stock battery, if I'm charging and I restart it the battery % jumps.
Just charged up my new anker yesterday for about 9 hours. Popped it in this morning. I will do three full overnight charges and full dicharges and report back. My chichitec got the same conditioning and its lasting about 25 hours for me. We will see. Got this thing for 9.50 so it won't be the end of the world. Seems good so far. At 99% and had it off the charger for three hours. Phone call and some email and xda.
Once we get root ill be wiping the battery stats for sure though.

[Q] Calibrating battery

I'm trying to calibrate my NS (i9020T) because it seems like battery drains quite fast after frequent flashing ROMs. Last time I calibrated was about 4 months ago.
But the problem is that it won't charge beyond 99%. It used to charge up to 100% before if I leave the screen on.
But don't I need to get battery % to 100% (that's what calibration app says)..?
How can I get it back to 100% charge?
Thanks!

Not sure if it works ffor ns, but drain your battery, go to data/system and delete batterystat or something along those lines and reboot. Let it charge for awhile and it should go to 100% . If it works you don't need to calibrate anymore as that's how normal apps calibrate.

drain your battery, delete the batterystats.bin, reboot, then charge all the way. chances are is that you had to wait a bit longer for it to hit 100%. when i charge my phone to 100, sometimes it takes an hour to go from 99 to 100%. be patient, if that 1% is worth it. the more you play with your phone between 99 and 100%, the longer it will take.

I waited 5 hours but it was still at 99%. I had to leave home so I couldn't charge any longer...
So drain it first, delete batterystats.bin, and it should charge to 100%? Because the app I downloaded says, charge it to 100% then delete batterystats.bin.. etc.

you must had something running in the background. believe me, the different between 99 and 100 is almost non-existant
The last 10-20% trickles in. 5hours is way too long though. What does your voltz read bc you can have a full charge as far as voltz go but may be getting a faulty % reading on the charge.
If you use the apk make sure you don't power off or you will regenerate the battstat through normal process and then the app is pointless. Try charging overnight and see if you can get to 100%.
Fyi/beware draining your battery to 0 is not good. Some batteries and phones have a hard time getting through first boot when there is little to no charge in the battery. Whenever I use the calibration apk, I never go below 10%. Anything below that can cause some funk.
I drained it all the way and deleted batterystats.bin, charged it all the way back overnight, but it doesn't go over 99% for many hours. I stopped all the services I could possible (kept only the essentials)...
Current Charge: 99%
Voltage: 4.176 mV
Temperature: 33.0c

So it's simply misinterpretation of the battery that it doesn't read 100%?
Well, I started calibrating about an hour ago. I thought it shouldn't matter too much.

Yes your phone sometimes gets out of sync with its self and starts thinking that its fully charged or fully discharged when its not. The way I typically calibrate my battery is to turn it off and let it charge until it stops (this is easy to see since the screen lights up and the battery shown on the screen stops unfilling and refilling). I then unplug it and boot it up. Again, shut it down and plug it in and let it charge until it thinks its full. Again, turn it on this time letting it charge to what it thinks is full while on. Finally restart into CWM and use its too for wiping battery stats. After all that I also like to let it die before I plug it in again.

[Q] Battery Life, does length of charge make a difference?

Ok , so every time I flash a rom I calibrate my battery. But I noticed the battery last the longest after the first charge of calibrating. When I calibrate, I kill the battery, pull the battery, put it back in and wipe bat stats. I then leave my phone to charge overnight (6hrs). At that point, turn the phone on and off, charge it again while off until it shows 100% (usually about another 10-15min). The battery last about 2 days with moderate use. I wait for the battery to die before I charge it again. But this time, I charge it the normal way. I don't go the full 6hrs, I just wait until it shows 100% (usually 2-3hrs max) and unplug the charger. But on this charge, the phone only last about a day. So my question is, what could be making this difference in battery life? Any chance these phones really need over night charging (6hrs) to get maximum battery life?
btw, I'm running Valhalla final.
From my understanding battery life takes a few days to settle in especially after flashing a new ROM

I would think that letting it soak in would see battery life only get better not get worse and then start improving again. I'm gonna do more overnight charging and compare it to just charging to 100% and unplugging the charger. And see if it truly makes a difference.

Battery charges slowly

Hi everyone I have a problem.
When I charge my battery it charges normally to 70 % after that it takes about 3 to 4 hours to charge till it reaches 100 % but if I reboot my device when it's charged to about 75% the Battery is suddenly fully charged.
I have tried to calibrated it but it didn't help.
I have this problem on every rom. What can the cause of the problem be.
It used to charge normally at first when I bought.
I have my desire s for one year now.
My device is rooted via revolutionary and s-off.
Thanks in advance.

Have a look at your battery for any swelling or signs of damage on the battery, it is possible that your battery is shot.
Re: battery...
Could it be that with the reboot,
device wipes its battery stats and looses the info?
(Or is it happening only during flash)
my phone has that same symptoms, but it happens mainly
, when i flash a rom, forgetting fully charge the battery before- after reboot it indicates full charge..
Edit: according to amidabuddha, htc has implemented safety switch in to charging procedure,
, when the load reaches certain level- it slows down
Then begins to indicate ' fully loaded' before
It realy gets to it- that is suposed to lengthen live of the battery,
but three to four hours sounds unusual...
Edit 2. When during charging battery gets to hot, charging stops as well...
Me too, charging from 0-70% needs 1,5-2 hours then 70-95% needs 4 hours, 95-100% just needs couple minutes, Idk why this happens, the battery stat says health...
When in the middle of charging I reboot the device, the level rises up anomaly, ex. The device is charging, and the level is 12 and I reboot, when I get back to homescreen it says 45%..
Also, the led changes from orange to yellow not when the level on fully charged, usually on the 90%.. my device is almost 2 year old

no, there is much difference in time.
From my experience, this behaviour is due to battery age. It started happening after about a year for me. I bought a new battery and the problem went away.
But I never had any real problems as a result of the slow charging of the old battery. If you recharge overnight, then it will have sufficient time to fully charge.
Based on what I now know, I wouldn't replace the battery until it stops holding its charge.
