Any idea when we'll be getting the 4.4.2 update? I'm sick of exchange not working and USB otg function being broken. If these problems were fixed this phone would be more bearable not having root.
If anyone has news on this it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, was hoping maybe someone has heard something. The moto x and g both have 4.4.2 so our droid lineup is left awaiting the update
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium
For the last two OTAs, the Droids didn't see a soak test until 5 to 6 weeks after the first X received the OTA, and definitely after all of the US carriers had the OTA. Verizon and AT&T Moto X phones still don't have the OTA, and it's only been a couple of weeks since the unlocked X got 4.4.2, so I'd just relax until the second week of March or so, if history repeats itself.
The G never had 4.4 - it went from 4.3 to 4.4.2, probably because Moto started working on the update after 4.4.2 was released. But, really, the X and the G are Moto's flagship phones. I think the Droids will always lag those two for updates.

Every device has one of these threads where people whine that the oem isn't providing ETA of the next update as if there's a requirement for them to tell you. Calm down and enjoy your device and know it will be updated when it's ready. If you're in a hurry buy a nexus.

I do enjoy my device, aside from the known bugs which are a constant annoyance. The Moto G and X have received the update so obviously the question arises is it in the works for the Droids..

I'm running 4.4.2 right now topsnake ported it from the moto x you need an unlocked boot loader but runs great.
What are the significant differences from 4.2.2 >4.4 >4.4.2?
I just went to 4.4 and haven't seen anything too noticeable. I think a few of my games play better. But some apps like eBay are acting a little wonky.
I guess the UI is a little snappier.

There have been changelogs posted. I think that we can look at the Moto X changelog for 4.4.2 to see what the Droids might get from 4.4.2. Not much - mostly bug fixes (battery life problems, exchange mail sync problems I think.)
4.4 changes were mostly internal stuff. BT 4.0 and BT LE devices are now supported. Emulated secure element for NFC, so Google Wallet tap to pay now works. Full screen mode. Camera touch to focus update. There are now printing options. The rest of the stuff in the changelog about the Gallery app is updated, since the gallery app has been updated a couple of times since then. There are also updates to Touchless Controls and Active Display. And a bug with the home key, that has the phone respond as if you pressed the home key twice.
4.4 changelog: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/97696
4.4.2: http://support.verizonwireless.com/dam/support/pdf/system_update/moto-x.pdf
(Strangely, the update changelog on VZW's site has been pulled and is now showing the update for the first OTA, 12.7.7, that came with the phone last August.)

I am thinking 1st to 2nd week of December. I think Google and Samsung wants to release the Galaxy Nexus first in the US before they update the Nexus S.

It's for sure they'll hold back any OTA update until the U.S. release of the Galaxy Nexus. But I want it as soon as possible! I don't understand why some people flash ICS roms with no wifi for example, when the official update is so close.

Why is it for sure? Unless you have inside info that nobody else does. Besides the US release of the Nexus won't impact sales any because the nexus s isn't on Verizon anyways.

Ok, even if everything is working just fine, it doesn't really mean it doesn't have some problems. That's why an official update is better than an "alpha"/"beta" rom.
Besides, this is the reason why you buy a Nexus S in the first place, for updates. After the OTA, it's custom rom all the way
EDIT: @Jeff Dunn: almost forgot, it makes sense to release the update AFTER the phone that is supposed to be the new android flagship. And it doesn't matter that the Nexus S isn't available on verizon. You know, there are other countries outside the US... but nevermind.

That's what we're waiting for. Without a doubt, there are people out there that have JB for their NS4Gs, but they wouldn't have any clue how to upload a zip, or wouldn't care for that matter. For them it's just a routine update, to iron out a bug or two. How many end users do you think even know what project butter is??? Probably just us.
Just make sure that if you get that update, to take your Logcat so someone on here can get the file from the URL.

A lot of things should be and probably will be better than the RAZR HD with the X. But after all your current isn't that bad though other brand owners will tell u it's rubbish Not going to get the option in the UK
Sent from my XT925 using xda premium
I don't think I would trade my MAXX HD in right now, but I can tell you I hope some of the devs are able to port the firmware over. While I doubt I would use touchless controls, the new notification system is something I can see myself using a lot.
i guess two questions pop into my head...why would you want to, and why should they?
If you complain enough you *might* be able to get a alternate device swap for it but it would be rough. If you have an unlocked bootloader on your HD you are giving that up as the Moto X on Verizon does not have an unlocked bootloader. The dev version will though.
I guess the way I look at it is the Razr HD will eventually get 4.2.2 or 4.3 and if I cant wait i will just enjoy CyanogenMod until they do. Now if you have a regular Razr HD and not the MAXX and you have a locked bootloader or dont care about locked bootloaders then go for the X. Just complain enough and they will probably let you switch. I would wait a month though after its released to try as you dont get a new X or any new device as you only get refurbs. Have to give time for refurbs to show up in order for them to think about switching you.
I complained alot and they kept asking me to send my phone for repair. After three sends, I gave up, unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom rom. No more over heating issues now.

DO NOT ACCEPT OTA UPDATES!
if you like to hack and mod that is. If ralekdev and other devs find an exploit for boot loader unlock chances are it will be in the release firmware. Remember Loki on the S4. How many of you still have that?

I wish I could be done with VZW. Wish wish wish.. I just need the the coverage. I'm so tired of them. The only time I have to deal with them is when I have exchange a defected device.. Which happens every time I buy one but it's enough. I pay $90 a month for unlimited data/txt and 450 minutes. So I'm happy about that. Oh yeah, I deal with them when I want control of my device. They don't want me (or anyone) to have it.

The only update I've ever dealt with was last year with my S4 when it upgraded from the MDK baseband. I don't remember the original one, but I remember I lucked out big time and when I ruined my phone and got a new one when I turned it on it basically almost immediately did an OTA to which I put in airplane mode to stop. Now I'm not 100% sure but I don't remember having to click yes or OK for that OTA

But if people have already accepted OTA before now, they are OK, right? Because this exploit is very new so I doubt it would've been fixed before that. The first fix I see for linux was on June 4th and I have no idea how that translates to phone OTAs

Most likely you are correct. The OTA they have been pushing is older so it's likely that the exploit will still work. I wouldn't accept any at all however if you can avoid it. I'd imagine they'll push the patch for this soon.
How do we know if our phones have the update already? I got a new s5 and have had zero Ota pop up since I got it 3 weeks ago.
