[Q] issues with optimus L7 facebook, google browser and google play store - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
Firstly, I have an Optimus L7 and everytime I am using the google browser app, doesnt matter what site i am on, a message pops up on the screen over and over again saying 'Security Warning There are problems with the security certificate for this site'. Three option buttons are underneath saying 'go back', 'View Certificate' and 'Continue'. Pressing 'go back' takes me back to the previous page and pressing 'continue' either makes the security warning message pop up again or lets me continue on the web page i was on, but i'm quickly shown the same security warning message again. I've never had any issues before with this google app until a few days ago. How do i fix this problem? Can u help?
Secondly, every time i click into goodle play store app, it says 'no connection' with a button underneath saying 'retry'. I have the data enabled turned on, and the internet is running when i click into google browser app, so i dont understand how or why it wont connect, note that this started happening the same time the first problem above started happening..... what can i do? please help...
does anyone have some actual expert advice????

how long do i have to wait for a response?
How long does it take to get an answer on these forum things? I dont have a clue what i am doing on these sites and i need help quickly... this is just wasting my time i guess

[Q] Rooted TF700T randomly taking screenshots.

(Posted here because I can't post in the developer forum yet. Longtime lurker; first time poster )
I Rooted CleanRom Inheritance 3.4.6-10.4.4.25/US ODEX and about an hour after I got a screen pop-up asking me what prog I wanted to use. I had no idea what was going on in the background to require it. I kept randomly getting them and got pissed so I selected a file manager. Sure enough, there were pics of whatever I had on the screen.
Any ideas what would be causing this?
While it isn't critical it sure is annoying.
Yep I have searched the thread to no avail. Did I miss it?
**Critical info**
I have disabled the "recently used" long press function in the ASUS Customized setting area. I can use the pwr/down vol to take one.
There is nothing on the top of my tablet to cause it by inadvertently pressing the buttons.
It happens randomly regardless of what I am doing and regardless of whether or not I am docked (I have the ASUS OEM dock).
Thanks all,
Lndcrsn
Have you by chance installed any rogue apps? Making intermittent screenshots is a known feature of malware hoping to catch your login details for websites and bank accounts and so on. I'm definitely not saying this is what is going on on your 700, but it might just be the case. Standing in your shoes, I'd wipe completely clean and start over. I do that for my Flashing OCD every once in a while anyway.
Hmm..
It would appear that Lookout had some sort of virus. I DL'd it from Google Play and it immediately popped the "choose application" screen with this:
I found this great free app called Lookout. You should download it for your phone! xxxx://bit.ly/XxXXXx (I deleted the URL info to prevent someone from clicking it)
Went with Avast now.
So...wtf? Is there a virus/bug out there that modifies Lookout?
@Marty
Thx man. I followed your advice and was able to find it that way. When I reDL'd it popped the notification and I used Evernote to figure it out.
Lndcrsn
Well, more info...
It is still happening but, only when docked on the keyboard.
It happens randomly still and, happens when the tab (docked) sits for a while. The "select prog for..." screen pops up and I select evernote to verify.
It wouldn't still happen with a complete wipe and reinstall would it?
Has anyone else had this happen with CR.I.?
hmm...

[Q] Weird icons on android phone.

Like 5 minutes ago I was about to charge my phone when I noticed some weird notifications in chinese writing that said "brendan's url" and then the weird chinese writing. Then I saw three icons with the android face on them that said the same brendans url. I just really dont know what they are or the purpose. Its just weird! Has anyone seen this or should I be worried? Maybe its a virus or something.
Thanks ahead for the Help.

enabling ART screwed me! phone wont boot

my wife got an S5 a while back. today was talking to people about ART and figured Id give it a shot, at first when it rebooted it said "android is upgrading... optimizing app xx of xxx" (was a huge triple digit number, like 360 I think) I know for a fact she hasnt even downloaded 50 3rd party, and probably many less. i told her if she has problems where to go to re-enable dalvik. well the phone never finishes booting, says com.android.phone has stopped, com.android.systemui and sometimes says google search has stopped, you hit ok and they are instantly back, after you hit ok millions of times, it starts throwing others but its so hard to read as they are gone INSTANTLY, pretty sure Id seen car mode, location, and others but I dont know what. doesnt even have the tool bar to get into the settings, as every 4 or 5 click of ok you get a split second to press something... SO, cant get into settings. phone eventually reboots and does it again, but now only says "optimizing app xx out of 56" this time. tried booting to safe mode but holding buttons does nothing, still goes right to "optimizing app..........." what should I try? it is 100% stock, she wouldnt let me root this one (Ive rooted her hero, S2, optimus G, my S2, my one, my optimus s, ... )
so I just spent about 23 minutes juggling hitting "ok" on the million force closes popping up and going to the drawer, sliding over to settings, getting into developer options, choosing runtime and choosing dalvik. was HARD to do when I never know when Id have the option of making a choice I wanted to and was constantly pressing what I DIDNT want, and then took forever to hit the back button.
just restarted and is now working, and I found how there was so many apps. Id never use her phone til now and sliding through the app trays to find settings I saw apps I know she wouldnt use like "root checker" and "quick reboot" etc... so I think what happened is when I gave her my one to use for a while it must have had both our accounts on it and all my app history must have been synced to her account then this S5 must have auto installed it ALL! now time for me to go solve that problem.
figure Id leave this for when someone searches this problem it might help em out. or delete it if need-be.

Anybody knows something about this Cellphone model? Pixys pxs-mp367a. Also android.pr

My aunt gave it to me with some kind of 'If you fix it, you can keep it' arrangement, but I can't do anything at all with it, there's barely some info in the web except for post about the problem it has and the fact that it has no solution. I can't find a rom that works for the phone either
Everytime I turn on the phone, inmediately after the logo screen, there appears an error message that says: ''Sorry! The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.'' When I force close it, less than a second after, the message appears again, letting me do practically nothing.
If I'm fast enough I can enter the settings and check stuff around, after I'm in the settings screen, the problem persists, but last a little longer without the message on the screen.
I checked around to find something about the problem at it seems commonly attributed to the sync and contact apps, but I have tried all the solutions relating this apps (including a factory reset) and nothing has worked.
Something I noticed was that the android keyboard is always restarting and has 0 processes and 1 service, and just when it manages to restart, the message appears, and when I force close it, it goes back to 0 processes and 1 service and restarting. Also if I manage to enter the web browser and click in the url, just when the keyboard appears, it closes and the message appears again.
The android version is 4.0.4, and the model Pixys pxs-mp367a. If you need more info please tell me how to find it out.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English.

[Q] What is "Apply phone Settings.." "web setup"

I'm baffled, I've been using my phone for a long while. Just within a day or so I start getting this notification with every reboot;
"Apply your phone settings" / "Click to apply your web setup". I haven't done any updates, except a couple non-HTC apps. I've tried searching for it, but very little comes up, and HTC site is not helpful.
I installed a NAND backup I had from a week ago, the message still pops up. I can't find a setting for it, and can't determine what app it's related to, except it might be related to HTC Sense. Can anyone shed light on this? It's annoying to have my phone behaving without knowing what it's doing.

I know this isn't helpful but I'm having the same issue. I'm using the HTC One remix though. Just started a couple days ago with all reboots. I don't use HTC sense I use a different program so you may be onto something with that. Yes it's very annoying and I'm curious to know what's really causing this.
Next time you get the notification, instead of tapping or dismissing it, long-hold on it (a few seconds) and it should tell you what app is doing the notification.

I'm receiving the same notification repeatedly i.e. "HTC - Apply your phone settings - Click to apply your web setup"
When I hold down the notification, the App that pops up is "HTC Get Started", which is all very strange since my phone is @~ 5 years old, and I have not made any firmware updates recently.

Yes I found that out as well and also have had my phone for almost 2 years now, quite sure I don't need to go through the "Getting Started" setup haha. It hasnt shown up anymore for whatever reason. Must have been some bug or glitch.
