I'm in Dominican Republic right now but my Skyrocket not receive a HSPA+ speed internet because the HSPA+ frecuencys in this country is in 900Mhz. Can i do something to change the frequencys band in my skyrocket to get HSPA+ in 900Mhz?
Thanks!!
It only gets 2g on 900mhz

Hi,
i live in argentina, and i found i dont have 3g coverage.
bands in argentina are http://www.mobileworldlive.com/maps/network.php?cid=3206&cname=Argentina
Do anyone know if is there a way to config my xt720 to bands 850/1900?
tks!
There isn't anything to configure. The phone automatically defaults to the 850/1900 bands when 3G isn't available.
but if in my country bands ar 850/1900, why do i only have edge?

You probably won't ever get 3G due to different bands on the phone versus your country's. Edge only.

To expand on what the Rev said from what i know in North America all XT720s that were sold, were W-CDMA/AWS i.e. their 3G bands were 1700mhz down link and 2100mhz uplink. Although they did have quad band 2G i.e. GSM 850/900/1800/1900.
So if in Argentina they are using 3G frequencies 850mhz down link 1900mhz uplink then the xt720 will never get 3G HSPA, phones from the following carriers will work Telstra NextG phones (Australian), Rogers (Canadian), Bell New 3G (Canadian), Telus New 3G (Canadian), and AT&T (USA).
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I didn't know the specifics off the top of my head, I just knew it wasn't going to work.
Hi,
I am a telstra customer from Australia. Telstra is rolling out its first handset on their new LTE network next week, the HTC Velocity (aka HTC Holiday or Vivid, i think).
The Telstra LTE network currently only runs on the 1800mhz frequency. Telstras 3G network runs on 850mhz australia wide and 2100 i think in built-up areas.
Short of ending my contract early or buying a Velocity outright (which you cant for another few months, according to telstra), I began a search for a mobile device that supports both 3G 850mhz UMTS and 4G 1800mhz LTE. This is a very hard combo to find.
Has anyone else had any luck finding a decent/flagship android phone from HTC or Samsung that supports both these frequencies? I do not care about 2G quadband compatability.
So far all I have come up with is the Samsung Galaxy S 2 LTE, but i cannot confirm this in fact has 850mhz UMTS.
What is the highest speed you get if you disable 4g on the US-version? Do you still get H+, only H, only #g or what?
Thanks
H+ I believe.
Thanks, would be great if someone could confirm by actually turning off 4g and see if they still get H+

why would h+ be affected by your 4g setting?
Just a rumour I read. H+ is considered LTE on the US version. Hope it's wrong.

No its not. HSPA+ is not considered LTE in any country. Some countries consider HSPA+ to be 4g, but that's not accurate. All LTE is 4g, not all 4G is LTE.

Back when the iPhone 4S first came out, AT&T made the handset show "4G" when it was using HSPA+. this confused some users into thinking the 4S was an LTE device. I wonder if OP is referring to something like that?

Possibly. This is why I mentioned that some countries inaccurately referred to HSPA+ as 4G and that although all LTE is 4G, not all 4G is LTE. I want to be clear that 4G, LTE and HSPA+ are not synonymous. they are all different things.
Essentially:
2G = GPRS and (2.5G) Edge
3G = 3G, (3.5G) HSPA, HSPA+, DC-HSPA
4G = LTE, WiMax

AS OP my main concearn was that I would not get H+ from a US-version here in Norway (have imported, not recieved yet), and would be stuck with very low 3G-speeds. Now I have seen other in Norway reporting at least 6 mbps speeds, possibly more. I get around 12-13 on H+ with my old SGS2, and would hope Nexus 5 with LTE disabled would get me the same speeds. LTE is not very important for me.

Yes it has h+, when ever I'm in a non LTE area that's what it defaults to. Granted I'm in the USA on att and your in Norway so I'm not sure what there H bands are, look it up and reference the n5 specs to get your answer.

Yep, there are only 2 models of N5. D820 US and D821 RoW. The only difference is the LTE frequencies they can handle. H+ works on both models across the same frequencies.

You should get similar or faster H+ speeds than your galaxy s2.

Here's a comparison for you.
North America (D820) Nexus 5 model:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41
Outside North America (D821) Nexus 5 model:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20
As you can see, all the WCDMA bands on the D821 exist on the D820, which means you will still get 3G, HSPA, HSPA+, DC-HSPA
Thanx guys!
I get my ATT Skyrocket from a friend last year.Phone is unlocked in Germany.I am facing a problems with signal after i install CyanogenMod 10.2,he is losing from time to time, people who calling me get message that i am unvailable, and i dont get every SMS message.I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a wonder is there any solutions for my problem.I am reading that can be phones radio/modem problem.Do i need to change phones baseband or radio/modem,does it supports CM 10.2 KitKat,is that causing my problems...Sorry on my bad english.Grateful.
Skyrocket has the following frequency bands:
2G NetworkGSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G NetworkHSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G NetworkLTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
After some searches I found 900/1800 MHz bands work for Bosnia so you're out of luck as far as your 3G or LTE.
You should lock the phone on 2G network and that should give you solid/uninterrupted signal.
Go to settings -> mobile networks -> Network operators
It will scan for a while keep the screen on until it finishes scanning the local networks. Choose your carrier from the list. Once it is accepted go back to Network Modes and change it to GSM.
Good luck
Please no PM's !

LTE with Vodafone in Spain
Hi,
I am traying to use my Skyrocket from ATT in Spain. I have it unlock and it is rooted. I am in a 4G LTE area and I only get 4G and not LTE. My spped is around 10 mg. My sister has a Galaxy s4 and she gets full LTE around 40 mg. Any help would be appreciate it.
Thanks
Catala
Have to swap my SM-G930T for a SM-G930P (Sprint).
Using it on Yoigo in Spain, which uses B3 for LTE, B1 for UTMS, and 1800 (DCS) for 3G.
Looks like the Sprint version does NOT support LTE Band 3, so I will only have 3G (HSPA+, right?)
So Am I going to get much slower speeds with 3G? And is there a way to enable Band 3 on the Sprint version?

Bump? Anyone?
That depends on your wireless service provider if he has limited your bandwidth. With 3G + (H +) are up to 42Mbit downstream and 5 Mbps upload speed possible. Whether the Band 3 can be unlocked is hard to say if it is supported by the hardware probably

But 4G is theoretically faster right? Especially upload

With LTE (4G) go down speeds up to 225 Mbit and 50Mbit up if your carrier supports and provides your contract no limit bandwidth
