Anyone noticed that after unmounting USB storage there will be persistent notification to plug in another drive. It can't even be removed. Any solutions?

Hi,
Wondering if anyone has problems connecting a smartphone ? When trying to connect to the usb port of the dock on TF700T my Sony Xperia S is not recognized, no message appears that "mass storage device" or "usb device is being prepared".
kind regards,
What Android version is your phone running?
Once my phone was in USB connect mode, I had to go to the transformer settings > storage and then scroll down to the bottom and select the option to mount the mass storage device.

I never saw any pop-ups or notifications in the status bar either. My first thought was that the device didn't know my phone was attached. I had to do some google-fu before I found the suggestion that, even though you don't see any notifications, to look at the storage settings anyway. Very strange that nothing is showing up for you. This might seem odd, but would you happen to have a USB hub you could run through? Try connecting the phone to the hub in storage mode, then connecting the hub to the transformer.
I can confirm that I did not have any notification either. My phone however detect the USB plug and I could activate USB mass storage on its side.
Then i needed to manually mount the external storage in settings. This done, I have access to the external SD card of the phone but not to the internal one.

Besides the fact i can't seem to connect it, that would be a problem also, because with the Sony Xperia S there is no SD card slot available for external memory, only 32GB of internal memory.
kind regards,
Not quite satisfied by my first test, I have made it again. With the two cards in the phone I can only access the external one. So I retreave the external card out of the phone and renew the test. this time, I can access the internal card.
So it seems that i can only see one card at a time, even if I need to mount it manually.
In any case if you have only one card, you should be able to access it.
After I plugged my USB disk on the tablet, there's a message showed on the status bar says "external storage bla bla bla", flickered a few times and disappeared eventually. The device just won't read it. And it can read my friend's USB disk(don't know its brand) just fine...
Anyone encountered the same issue? Any suggestion or solution?
PS: I've formatted my disk with all the formats(FAT32, exFat and NTFS), not helping.
PS2: I've tried plugging it on both USB ports on dock and on that little external USB accessory.
Have you tried going into Settings > Storage, scrolling down to USB drive and clicking mount?
I know this sounds like a common sense question, but it worked for me when my flash drive was doing the same thing.

yes, I've tried that too. still not working. after a few flickering the message on the status bar disappeared like before. nothing happened.
So I think something on my USB port has malfunctioned... it won't show up in the device manager when I plug it in.
I have tried the sticky thread on Diagnosing USB Driver and ADB issues in Windows. I have searched the forums and internet and tried lots of driver installs and restart this and that.
Recently this started when I wanted to flash Android 6.0 to my phone. During the install with NRT after each erase and flash it would say Waiting for device, and the only way I would get it to proceed was to plug the USB and plug it back in... Now running Android 6.0 it won`t even recognize my device and won`t pop up the menu to choose your usb connection setting.
I have two Nexus 7, one Nexus 7 (2013), and another Nexus 5... and they all work fine and get recognized by the computer.
Please help, and is this fixable?
Am I going to have to do some phone surgery and change out the charging assembly?...
Does it charge when plugged in?
It charges when plugged in... I guess 2 out of the 5 pins are working.

So you don't have a notification in the notification shade that says the phone is charging? There should be one that, when you tap it, opens up a dialog box to change it to a different connection.

Yeah it charges and it shows that it's charging with the lightning bolt on the battery icon. But not like my other Nexus 5, it does not pops up that menu with the different options (charging only, MTP, etc).

The menu doesn't pop up automatically. You have to tap on the notification. Maybe you need to turn on USB debugging in the developer options?

USB OTG on the Z5 it does work! for a security reason it is the device(rom), has a "security feature" aka USB detection is auto disabled after a while when usb is unpluged or unmounted. to make it work , do this : pull down the settings panel>> hit edit>>hold and dragg down the "Detect USB device" button and close. plug your usb in and hit the "Detect USB device" button it will then se it and open the file commander app. :good:

Thanks for tip! Works on my Z5c with Kingston 64GB Dual OTG flash
Also worked for me, thanks. Is there a permanent fix to this rather than pressing detecting USB every time?

You can add a shortcut (tile) to navigation bar on Nougat.
Hello. I want to ask, if my screen broken, how to do that activation "Detect USB device" , because i need to unlock my phone somehow?
XT2131-1 boost mobile
I plug in otg cable and USB flash drive correctly but I keep seeing the message to open with my explorer app toast for 1 second then turns off. It repeats the same as before continuously until I remove the flash drive. I have tried 3 different drives in exfat, fat32, and fat formats. Also I have tried switching out the otgadapter for a different one. Still the same problem. Plugged in and shows toast options for 1 second then stops and restarts the toast notification again. Any help would be awesome.
*Edit*
I solved the issue. Has nothing to do with my device but infact was the USB drives. They were all manufactured by the same place. The brand Micro Center does not function properly as I have found.

How many times are you going to post the same question on different threads and why would you need to get into diag?

To do 4g on a CDMA network
That has everything to do with your APN settings for your carrier and how your carrier provisioned your sim.
What's your phone's model number?
And did you buy it from the carrier you're using?
