Root? - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone managed to root their note 12.2 yet? How smooth is the ui? Lag etc... anyone tried chainfires autoroot? Im conflicted about upgrading now or waiting awhile.

I would like to know too if anyone is working on a root for this!

In my opinion this device does or need root. So far it is the best device I have ever tried.

While I'd agree that this device is great, for some of us root is a necessity. I for one want full tasker support as well as titanium backup in order to freeze certain pieces of bloat that I don't want (*cough* I'm looking at you WatchOn).

I was looking at porting a root tool from the 2014 note 10 at the weekend but got waylaid at work so will start again sat no promises though

Ah ok yah it's tripped.
I'll weigh that against the cost of a squaretrade warranty . . or just going for it. May just go for it LOL.

is this root done via Odin on desktop? I am coming from a nexus 10. not used to Odin. Want to be sure I do it right, Also, square trade warranty won't work if knot is tripped? Or did you mean you will have to get a square trade warranty if you trip it?

Yes root needs to be done on desktop.

Doing Is easy and yes warranty will be void no big drama there. Great let's try and get a working Cwm next

Do Triangle Away application manage to reset knox after root process ?

Not knox is an efuse which contains one byte of data and can be written to once. Only service center can reset it

I wonder if its possible to undermine the process that displays the information from the efuse? Like implement a fake screen or overlay another image over it?

Hey can anyone flash the following on P900 with odin? I've built cwm and would like someone to test and let me know if it works or not. The stock recovery is provided just in case.
And flash the following file from the recovery to root. (For those tabs on which chainfires root didn't work). http://download.chainfire.eu/370

ROMS don't trigger the counter, reverting to stock via a .tar or flashing a different recovery is what trips it.

If you burning rom using cwm and your model tar(device :989 / official 989 tar) it didn't increase count.
But if you burn t989d(telus) official tar on your t989(t mobile) via odin, your counter will be increase. Its very fun.

in the past 2.5 years, i haven't ever seen a story where someone has been denied a replacement because their counter was tripped. i don't think it matters.
Samsung has given phones to CyanogenMod so I doubt they care too much if we mod our phones. I think its a way to tell how many of their returned phones have people like us using them.
My counter only goes up when flashing stock rom tar. I have a jig also hust in case , but mine definitely trips counter with stock ROM tar.

Getting rid of WiFi notification without changing ROMs?

I just got my S3 last night and comment from virgin mobile and the one v this phone is amazing. And I love all the cool stuff TW5 does. But that WiFi notification is already getting on my nerves is there a way I can just get rid of that and keel everything else?
I'll root if I have to but I'm a little uneasy flashing a ROM at the moment. Like I said I love the device as it is. Just that constant notification...

yes you can, you can also set it back to stock. I wouldnt worry aboutn rooting.
I brought my phone into Verizon with a rooted phone with AOSP theme on it with TWRP custom recovery running. she was on tech support on the phone with them telling her how to do a factory reset on my phone.. well they brought her into the recovery TRWP and she was like WTF!? lol and STILL they traded me out for a brand new in the boz sgiii lmao.
ive sent back i think every phone rooted, from my eris, to inc1, inc2, rezound, and even one gsiii lmao
i dont suggest it, but root yea sorrry for the rant lol

This must be your first time rooting from all the questions. My suggestion to you is research research and then research again. Make sure your familiar with the process then just do it. I had so many questions and was hesitant to root my first time but I'm happy I did. Now whenever I get a new phone I root almost immediately . Imo there is just to many things you could do with your phone not to root.

Also this is kinda off topic but why is my phone using so much data. I've used half a gig in 2 days doing normal stuff
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry about the assumption. I wouldn't worry about the flash counter to much because there are ways to reset it if you think it is necessary. As long as you unroot before you take back to or even call Verizon for advice. Not sure about your data. I always turn auto sync off until I'm on wifi even though I have unlimited data I guess it's just a habit. Did you check data usage in settings. Also on beans Rom and synergy Rom in settings under device status it says normal. All the others say modified. Synergy does a great job at hiding stuff from Verizon.

Not completely true, CF-Auto-Root only works for the versions up to MDM rom atm, not for ME1/2. The update will support newer versions too.
But the point is it does work, it would be an update in the case of the I9505. There is no Chainfire support at all at the moment on the I9500.

[GUIDE] Reset Knox Counter in KitKat and Lollipop N900

hi Today I found a guide in arabic site so would like to share it with you as i tried it in kitkat and lollipop and it worked with knox container and root both working and knox counter still 0.
previously i used the KNOX NOTE 3 file to reset the KNOX counter but i face problemes
here is the original link :
http://www.android4iraq.com/?p=9575
GUIDE :
You may get the yellow traingle with pc and mobile icon sign, dont worry and consider it a DOWNLOAD MODE and continue the steps
In Every Time you Use odin , be sure to remove the auto reboot check mark
Kitkat :
1- Flash Knox Note 3 in PDA with Auto Reboot NOT checked in odin you may get fail in odin , dont worry and get into download mode again.
2-Flash Kitkat Bootloader -Named N900_NF3_SR_BL.tar.md5- in PDA tab and restart your phone LINK
Lollipop
1- Flash the kitkat bootlaoder
2-Flash Knox Note 3
2-Flash Lollipop Bootloader -Named Bootloader 5- in Bootloader tab
3-Flash Stock recovery
Credit:
i Dont know the source of Knox Note 3 file please guide me to consider it in the post.
So, basically this is solution if knox is triggered? This solution reset knox?
Interesting..anyone tried this?

KNOX NOTE 3.tar is corrupted and get a message saying unexpected end of archive when opening in winrar. Maybe this was done on purpose as to erase the knox bit? But I'm still kind of nervous of getting a brick by flashing a corrupted file.
Is this only for international Note 3? I am on the US Sprint note 3.

After using Lollipop for 2-3 days just restored through nandroid backup (TWRP) and was with Lollipop BL. First pic is after the Knox reset and second is once I flashed original "N900XXUENH1_N900OJVENG2_N900XXUENG1_HOME" ROM from Samsung :

It works fine. Knox counter is reset to 0
I am currently using stock version of kitkat and had a Knox counter as 1.
My phone was not rooted when I tried these steps.
First flash step would stop half way through ,however ignore and go ahead with Step 2 and it works like charm. Now my knox counter is set to 0.
Do they all get flashed as bootloaders or what?
Is this for the N9005?
