[Q] Gingerbread instal failed - General Questions and Answers

Hi
I use a Qtek 9090 and just tried installing ginderbread on it. Did everything as instructed, but the unit seems to be running a continuous script with errors. I tried this several times and left it overnight to no avail.
Do I need to upgrade my operating system before I do that? If I do, could you please give a step by step instruction on this? Have downloaded the wm 6.5 rom, but don’t know how to go about the upgrade.
Thanking you in advance

problems installing software

Hi,
i´ve got a HTC P4350, with WM6.0.
After some weeks of usage, it doesn´t install any adicional software. After a message of warning about the software security, and then it says that the installion was not sucessufull.
The first time this happened, i had to make a hard-reset.
There is any trick i can do just to avoid make another hard-reset and installing all the things?
thanks a lot

Failure to upgrade to official ATT ROM

I have previously upgraded to RWE wm6, now the official ATT upgrader says "you have a newer version of this software" and wont update to the latest ROM. Any suggestions to fool the updater and install official WM6 release?

Awesome as always!! Thanks!!!!
Next question....Installer gets through initial phase, treo gets 4 dark colored bars, then connection is lost and install cant complete. I tried removing the SD card-no luck. Advice ?
Thanks again
I got the same problem , after the erase all data it just froze up ..... is it bricked. hopefully someone can help
I also had the same problem with my device but what i did is switch computers with Windows xp and with Activesync 4.5 that should do the trick
fixed
installed from XP instead of Vista...no problem at all. Appears Vista has trouble with recognizing the treo after loses activesync connection
seems my problem had to do with the unit, i did the sdupdater recovery tool from palm to no avail, finally i removed the battery and reinserted it and bam WM6 appeared after numerous attempt at upgrade and different ROMS tried. I asume the original upgrade got stuck and the removal of the battery, helped it finish. Who knows at least its not bricked

removing 02 software hard reset

Can someone direct me to a walkthrough for a hard-reset on an xda mini s?
I have searched and searched these threads-alas! but i do recall that i can perform a hard reset to reload the o/s restart in basic mode and delete the unwanted software (which files it would be i dont know)
Also I've been following the guides given on this site to unlock cid (succsessful) and flash the rom on the pda, but cant get Vista to run the flash rom update utilities software to flash the rom to downgrade. It keeps closing it down. I've spent hours attemping this but have had to concede that Vista isnt wanting to play! yes i have installed active sync and the rom update version for Vista. Does the cab file that has to be installed on the pda have to be re-installed every time the thing is rebooted by the software? After dozens of goes i still have spl's of 2.1. (I only aim to flash the rom with the T-Mobile 2.6 version of WM5 to get a stable device at the moment)
Without wanting to spend valuable hours of my life persuing this i might just try it on a friends xp desktop Pc and see if i can get success.

T-mobile (US) HTC HD2 installation failure?

I have the HTC HD2 recently released by t-mobile (3/24/10). Everytime I download and try to install a cabinet (.cab) file, I am greeted by the screen that reads (Installation Unsuccessful) Any suggestions for getting this to work? I have tried downloading from different sources.
sounds like ur installing apps that wasnt made for winmo 6.5
try installing BsB onto the device and turning on the unsigned apps button... hope it works Good Luck...
also a lil heads up, when askin a question alway let people know what ur doing what u hav and what u need, Device ?
Rom ?
app trying to use ?
and a bref descript of the problem
Thanks for the all the advice. I'll take that into consideration.
CABS meant for this device
I'm having the same issue. I flashed the ROM to the new T-MO version and worked great. Installed some CABS that I had installed before and suddenly I get this error on any CAB I try to install. Regardless if it is VIA Windows Marketplace, copied to the device by usb, sent over by WMDC, or downloaded directly on the device and saved. No prompt where to install, just pops up with installation failed. And some of these CABS I know for a fact work. It's got to be some kind of security issue I would think, but I'm not getting any prompt or warning.
I've scoured the web the last week and lots of people with this issue, but no solutions.
Suggestions?
HTC HD2 Installation of update
I am guessing you are speaking of the latest rom update put out by TMobile?
If so, go to TMobile here ----> http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm54430.xml?
and then follow the instructions as given. I had a problem with my H2 then did this update and all is well.
Good Luck!
Certificates?
That's what I already did! And it was working fine, I was installing CABs, etc. Now nothing will install. I know that I can always do a hard reset, but something caused this problem and I can't keep hard resetting forever. I'm not a newbie here to flashing roms of working with windows mobile either. I did notice today though that under security/certificates there are no certificates now. There were lots of them installed from the factory with the original rom, but none now. I don't know if the rom flash wiped them and didn't reinstall, or something else did. It worked so I never checked after flashing. I suppose I could find someone else with a HD2 and have them send me copies of all there certs.
I'm having the same issue with any cabs im trying to install. Any solutions?

US T-Mobile HD2 installation problem
Gosh, i never thought a lot of people would be having installation problems on their T-mobile HD2 like me.
I have the same unit, just had it last June 2010.
And i just couldn't get to install any third party application on it!
but im able to install apps if and only if i downloaded it on Windows Market place using my phone. Any other method aside from the the Windows Market Place in my phone wouldn't do. Like if i downloaded an application, any application, in my pc and transferring it to my phone through Microsoft's active sync or disc drive transfer and when i try installing it, it just wouldn't install?
i couldn't even install .Net Framework 3.5 on it to hoping to be able to use CHT or any other interesting apps requiring the framework. i got the .Net Framework Downloaded it frm here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625483 and also here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
i also couldn't even get to install recommended drivers like Chainfire's HD2/Leo 3D Driver Patch. As you can see, i really couldnt install any requirement apps to get the good progs and stuffs =/ and i've downloaded a lot of apps already hoping to see them running on my hd2, but only to be turned down for they couldn't seem to get installed =/
my unit is HTC HD2 from US, originally a T-mobile and has these specifications:
OS version: 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Manila version: 2.5.20121412.2
ROM version: 2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
ROM date: 04/28/10
Radio version: 2.10.50.26
Protocol version: 15.39.50.07U
this is a Leo having a flash size of 1024
i sincerely hope you'd help me diagnose the problems properly =/ Thank you sooo much for the help then masters.
and oh one more thing, having said my phone's specifications, is it ok to try flashing it using this thread and a few ROMS on it? i've been reading carefully these thereads
