I just got a warranty replacement same verizon galaxy s3 sch-I535 phone. My old phone had no problem connecting to the wifi it was not rooted either. I did take it to the verizon store where it connected to their wifi. I've tried a factory reset, resetting the router and modem, turned off the auto switch and at this point i'm all out of ideas. Any ideas on what else i could try?
What os is it? Can other devices connect to your home Wi-Fi?

tried it no luck
You don't have an mac address whitelist on your router do you? I ran into the same headscratcher because I had a new mac address.
Also, look at dhcp reservations. If there's one for your old device then remove it. If that's not the problem try power cycling the router.

thanks man removed my old phone from dchp works now
haha well now i get an unstable wifi connection no matter where i am in the house
There's a thread going on that issue. Try clearing your cache and power cycling your router and modem. Some report that as a fix.

K, one variable out the door, assuming you have other devices connecting to it no problem? Have you tried to connect wirelessly to another router? List what the router and modem you are using as someone with this more experience might help with more specific details. The other thing it it might have messed up hardware...

This happened to me once...and I had to have my g2x replaced...one thing I would try is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17258229
...if that still doesn't work...I'm with mt3g...it's probably hardware related...
EDIT: When I saw Error it never showed me the MAC address...do you see yours?
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
no. no mac address :C
If you have a Nandroid backup from BEFORE the issue started...I would try that...otherwise try the link from my previous post...

no didnt work tried the nvflash and now im at stock. but still no wifi -sigh- how would isend it back? and is it expensive?
this is either hardware, or more likely you are in need of a full factory reset

I'm not dev enough to know if it will work since you're running a 4.3 rom but you could try pulling the apk from another rom and see if it works.

Yes but therein lies the problem. I didn't pull the apk from the stock rom before I rooted and switched. I need a download link to someone who has uploaded but all I can find is the s4 version.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4
If anyone else is wondering the same thing, I just found out you cannot have s voice on slim bean or any rom not based on touchwiz

I found this a while back, ive tried it a few times, worked back then, honestly dont know if it still does. If you guys like it, create another link to it somewhere, because I will probably be taking it off my Dropbox after a week or so.

I just tried it, it works still, I just said hello to it, nothing big. However, after I installed it, I opened it, was in the "accept terms" activity, then pressed home. It forced closed when I returned to it. If that happens, clear the app data and open it again, but go through the full accepting prompt before you pause the app.
Just a heads up

Well since I flashed Chaos kernel 8.1v I am able to connect to data only the first time since I wipe cache and dalvik. When I turn off the data and trying to connect it again I am unable to connect with my data. I tried 8.1v. 9.0 1 2 and 3 beta...and my problem persists

he doesnt have enough posts to ask there yet.
op, when you cant connect, have you ever tried to put it into airplane mode, then back?
I have chaos 8.1 kernel installed and no issues actually.
It would help if you give more information on your setup (ROM, method of flash, which ROM you're coming from, etc).
Wipe and fresh install would be where I'd start though.

Try dialing *#*#4636#*#*and go to phone information and set preferred network type or try modifying your apns, this kind of things happen to me very often and this is how i fix it, also try going to settings-more-mobile networks-preferred network type and change things there,
Good luck boy

Coming in late but I think T-Mobile network uses IPv6 data network.
So enable IPv6 option from NXTweaks and restart once.
I have used CM 10, 10.1 & 10.2 all do not work with tethering.
I like the CM ROMs but I need tether to work. Can anyone recommend a stable ROM that tethering works on?
Works fine for me I'm calling user error.

Thanks for he condescending response
Have you actually used tethering with Cyanogenmod 10.2 on an i727R?
I don't mean just switching it on, but actually using a tethered wifi (from a Windows or Mac laptop).
It has never worked for me. Whenever I odin back to stock it does.
It *could* be user error. I am a pretty technical guy & I know how to switch tethering on -- how would *you* troubleshoot it?
Works fine I tether to an evo and a laptop on occasion
