dashclock widget - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When running the app wireless charging is pretty much dead. It stays on specified percentage for hours, even though wireless charger shows it's working. When uninstalled, all's back to normal.

I do not have this issue. I use it with like 7 extensions. Also charge wirelessly with no issues. Try plugging your wireless charger into A/C (wall) not USB (computer, etc.). Also use the cable that came with the nexus. If you're using a longer cable that could also be why. I literally only wirelessly charge. I think I may have plugged my phone in only once for fastboot OEM unlock lol.

Also how many extensions are you running? Which extensions? How often are they set to automatically update? More info would really help if you're actually looking for serious support lol.

I don't have this issue either. I run 6 extensions

Nexus 5 USB cable

Hi guys,
I received my Nexus 5 today at work, then cycled home and took the phone with me without any accessories.
Come bed time I tried to plug in all micro-usb I had from previous phones/tablets/hdd but none of them really slips into the micro-usb slot. It appears to be bloody tight and obviously I don't want to force it. I'll try tomorrow with the original cable.
Has any of you experienced a similar problem?
Regards,
Marco

Nope - my old micro-USB cables connect fairly well. Though I did notice that older chargers charge the N5 really slow (even chargers that charged my previous Galaxy S4 quickly).
The N5's OEM charger and the S4's OEM charger can charge my phone up very quickly (about 2 hours to get fully charged from 30% or less)
Similar yes... but mine is the other way around. My N5 cable is really tight, where as all my others slide right in

I notice that too with the charging. I read everywhere on how the device charges so quickly, where as mine was taking ages. When I use the supplied kit, nice and fast

take a look at the rating on the chargers you have. I have 3-4 that are 1amp, 2 that are pathetic at 0.5amp... and the Nex5 one it 1.2amp...

[Q] Nexus 5 will not charge without original wire.

Hello
I am new to the forums. I am wondering if others are having the same problem and if anyone knows a fix for the problem I am having. As i stated in the title, my Nexus will not charge (fully) with any of the tens of other wires I have from other phones and just collecting over the years. It seems to only really charge with the original wire that came with Nexus 5. Even if the other wires I have are plugged into the original power brick that came with the Nexus 5 it still will not charge fully, It will just kind of hang around 40%, and forget about using the phone while it's charging it will just simply lose battery. I ask because if I lose this wire I feel I am doomed. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
Something is not right, it should be fine with any usb charger or cable.
I haven't even taken my original charger or cable out of the box.
I just finished charging with a Samsung cable. I was also able to use the same cable to fastboot my N5.
hmm.
Alright,
I will run a test with my sister's nexus 5 and my own. I have 2 amazon basic cables, I will drain both batteries and charge them up and see what happens. I will Keep you guys posted, thank you guys for your responses
I'm using my 2 year old HTC Legend USB cable.
I am experiencing the same issue here. This is bull****.

i lost my charger after 2 days i my sister gave me her nokia n9 charger, it works just fine, no problem for me
i'm using the external battery (mactrix) too, and it works too.
test
I am about to start the charging test between my sister's and my phone. I have been running netflix on 100% screen brightness and already notice that her phone is lasting much longer than mine. I will also upload some pictures.
i dont think that ive even ever used the original usb cable and charger. im using a charger from my nexus 7(2012) and the chord from my nexus 4.
Send your device for RMA or to lg for manufacturer warranty repair. Your device has entered a state of what I call flakey mode as it only accepts one charger and one USB cable.
Try this fix drain device to 20% then charge to 100% with the stock lg cord and ac adaptor. You should be okay now. If not try a factory reset.

I had no success with charging my phone against my sisters. Her's shot up right away and mine just hung there at around 30% after almost an hour. I am going to try what the previous poster said and call lg. I will keep you guys posted!
Thank you guys for your replies!

wireless charger

hi, someone know if this charger is working with nexus 4?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/QI-Wireless...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item3f3363ba76
I have the orange and black one, you just need a charger that states its qi standard or complies with it.
Mine doesnt charge at as it gets warm (tickle charge), the temp sensor must stop it charging, this is the second ebay qi that has done it,looking into a offical one instead
I have black+black one and it works just fine with original nexus 4 adapter. You gotta put the phone on the exact location to prevent heating and "tickle charge". If I do it right, phone get charged kinda fast, not as fast as with wall charger but faster than with USB. I bought it from here. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Black-Portable-Ultra-Slim-Qi-Receiver-Adapter-Wireless-Charger-Charging-Pad-for-Lumia-920-Nexus-4/1502839948.html
I also got one. It works fine with N4. I am using original wall charger.

Just received one of these today! Seems to work pretty well - you know when you've positioned it correctly because you get audio feedback. Seems to charge OK, looking at the battery graph.
On the back of the box in the specs, it says "conversion 72%". I guess that means you lose 28% of its charging potential via wireless, compared to wired?
Still, it feels fast, and does its job.

Looks the same, though the one referenced in the first post comes with a 15cm and a 150cm USB-micro USB cables. It looks like you just get the Qi disc here.
perfect, i'm gonna buy it in this day! thanks

longer cable that is adaptive charging capable

Has anyone found an aftermarket cable that is 10 feet and can do adaptive charging for the note 4?
This one is a great sturdy cable, has a very snug connection to phone, and works with Adaptive charging: http://goo.gl/9i9AJd

Just tested the three 10ft cables I have and they all work, as well as every other cable I tried. Its the adapter that does the charging. Two 10ft came from a convenience store, and one from Big Lots. also the short cables that came with various backup batteries work. Now if i could find a fast charge capable backup battery.
EDIT: After actually leaving one of the 10ft cables hooked to my phone, It does not fast charge it. The popup comes up, but after almost an hour the battery has only risen like 5%. I will actually have to thoroughly test the other cords over the next few days. But still, the adapter does the charging, I guess the resistance of the wire comes into play, cause the stock cable is way thicker than any other cable i have except for 2 short ones.
Is that one linked thick too, if it really does work with fast charging, I will buy it, but it looks just like the ones I have.
EDIT 2:unplugged it and plugged the other one in and the phone has risen 25% in 30 min, so I am at a loss.

Correct. It's the adapter that enables the fast charging when used with a phone that supports it. Any decent cable should work with it.
Yeah, and I have found out not all cables are made equal, the resistance on one cable was higher than the other of the same brand, the higher resistance one does not fast charge it even though it pops up.
Longer cables will almost always yield slower charge times. I have yet to find a cable that puts through as much power as stock cable. Anyone know where to get those?

Package of 3:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Charging-Cables-Galaxy-Universal/dp/B00PJAEBMO/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1420550746&sr=1-3&keywords=samsung+note+4+charger+cable
It is not only the length of the cable but the thickness of the cable. You also need to be aware which most of you are that some cables are for charging only. The charging only cables will not for for 'fast charge' from my experience
I use this 15' cable every day to charge, fast charging works great.

I was eyeing that set but for now just bought one of these. Should receive today.

FWIW I bought a bunch of top tier cables from MonoPrice and the tip doesn't fit in my case (bodyglove).
Nearly all 8 of them have broken at the tip also.

That's the same cables I bought. I just bought shorter lengths. The tip has fallen out of all of them after several months.

Galaxy S6 will no longer charge from a USB port?

I got my S6 the week it came out, so I've had it for a decent amount of time, without any problems until last week. One day I experienced a sharp battery drain, and plugged it in my PC to charge. To my surprise it wouldn't charge! It shows that it's charging, but it wont go up in charge. The only way to charge it now is with its own fast charger.
I fiddled with it a bit, (cleared cache, uninstalled apps, etc. ) and I can say the battery drain problem seems to be fixed for now. But I'm still unable to charge it up via the PC (or a laptop) USB port. What may be causing this?
It should charge to any regular usb port. Did you try to other device with usb charging and see if it works? Maybe defective usb ports from pc or laptop i guess.

Yes - I've been charging it that way since the day I got it - no problems whatsoever. This happened suddenly, after the battery drained rapidly - I'm guessing something went bad inside the circuitry?
I've tried a couple different PCs, laptops and USB ports. I just stays flat, even thou the red light is indicating a charge.
The only way to actually charge it now, is with a charger.
Once a device goes near zero, it must be charged with a wall plug. After that it should be okay from computers. And it sounds like an app updated.

After recharging from a wall it should be okay to charge from your computer as long as it doesn't get below 5%.

Usb port is not sufficient enough i guess.
Try to make it at 15% at least using fast carge adapter and try the usb port. It should work.
I charge the phone everyday up to 100% (using its charger), so it's not that it's not charged. Regardless of how much charge it has left, it wont get any juice from a USB port anymore. Again, this wasn't the case before last week, so I know it's not the USB port, and I know that it should charge, but it wont. I'm thinking to hard reboot it, and if that doesn't work, to take it back for warranty service. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen such a thing before.
Oh so i guess it must be a hardware fault. Try bring it up to sammy center for them to check. No, I have not experienced that issue before. Normal charging via usb port works without problem.
