[Q] Nexus 5 - Mobile Network not available - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I apologize in advance if this issue is already being addressed elsewhere, I tried to do a search to see nexus 5 specific examples but didnt see anything.
I'll try to keep it short.
As of a few days ago my nexus 5 stopped allowing me to access my mobile network. I'm on the latest version of kitkat, with Wind Mobile. It indicates I have full bars, and on the HSPA/3G network. I'm able to use my data plan without issues, however whenever I try to send a text message it fails, and if I try to make a phone call I get "mobile network not available". Its not a problem with my sim card because I've tested it with a different phone and it works fine.
I've tried rebooting, turning airplane mode on and off, and even factory resetting the phone. Nothing has worked.
I'm pretty desperate here so anything advice you can share would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance!

check your APN settings.

To further explain, go to Settings/More/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names, press menu (the 3 dots), Reset to default, choose one that mentions Wind Mobile, then reboot phone.

Sudden Disconnection from network?

So out of nowhere, my HTC Sensation no longer connects to the network. I would get roughly around 5 mbps around my house, but just all of a sudden, it stopped working. I tried rebooting the phone, and turning on/off airplane mode, and it just doesn't seem to be working. Anyone have any more tips before I try and factory resetting? Also i think I may be experiencing a bug because every time I open any app, I get a very quick glimpse of the weather instead, and then the app opens up. Thanks
What was your previous phone with t-mobile? If you don't have an "android plan" it seems that T-mobile is blocking you from data.
Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128335&highlight=data&page=5
I had the same problem two days ago and had to do a factory reset to solve the problem.
Previous phone was MyTouch 3g, so I'm sure I'm on an android plan
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out
Don't assume it's your phone. It's possible that service in your area is down. If you have another t-mobile phone check to see if it has reception. Next go into settings, wireless&networks, and select mobile networks. Then choose network operators and select automatically. If nothing comes up I would call t-mobile because resetting your phone.

Optimus V data issue

I am sorry if this has been answered already, but I can't seem to locate it in the forums.
I'm trying to help my friend with his Optimus V from Virgin Mobile. For about 2 weeks now, it hasn't been able to get any data connection. It says it's at 3G, but it will only call and text.
I've been searching around for a few days and have tried all sorts of "fixes" out there, but I know with most of them before I try, they aren't going to work.
The short of it is, it won't register with the network. Going through *#*#4636#*#* and checking phone status, it hasn't connected to any host network (no IP or domain or any of that stuff) Changing cell modes or cycling airplane mode or anything like that that I have tried isn't changing anything.
So, if anybody has posted a solution, or has some other things for me to try, it would be much appreciated (^_^)

I had the same problem once before, but I find no way to solve it other than doing a factory reset (if you're on stock). In my case I just wiped and installed a new ROM and it worked.

[Q] Possible APN problem

Hi!
My girlfriend (who is forever having problems with phones) just bought a Nexus 5 after her Galaxy S2 spontaneously gave up on life, but despite showing a full signal it seems to be unable to connect to a network (it's supposed to be on the UK's Orange network). When it first started up she said it had a screen saying something like 'activate data services', but that after 10 minutes or sitting on that screen and apparently stuck, she skipped it. The phone is showing a full strength signal, but no calls/texts or data works.
We've been unable to get back to that screen, even after doing a factory reset with/without the SIM inserted.
Anyway, I figured it was an APN issue, so I've tried setting it up for her, but whenever I create a new APN and try to save it, it just disappears and loses all of my settings. I've had a look around XDA and it seems a few others have been having the same issue, but nobody I've seen has posted a fix. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Tried it with my SIM in her phone and it works fine, so I guess it's a SIM issue. Sorry about that. She can call the phone company tomorrow.

[Q] Nexus 5 will not automatically connect to cell network

Hi All,
I've been having an issue after upgrading from a Nexus 4 to Nexus 5 where the phone will not re-connect to the home network (or will only reconnect to GSM with no data) after losing connection. This happens for example when going into an elevator or parking garage; I'll lose signal and when I get back into a signal area it won't reconnect unless I go to the "Mobile networks" -> "Network operators" menu and select "HOME" or "Automatic Registration". I'm using Straight Talk wireless with an older T-Mobile SIM (before they switched to only AT&T). I've called Straight Talk a few times to try and debug this, but the only instruction they've given me is to reset the APN and set it up again, which I've done a couple times to no avail. They claim that the SIM card is good on their end. Any ideas what might be causing this?
Thanks!

It sounds like the Baseband/RIL problems I had with my old LG OP2X with non-stock roms. For me, it was fixed switching to aeroplane mode and back, it could also get stuck there, I remember it once took me half a day to get it out for I didn't want it to wipe it.
Any way, may be it's not the same but it could be fixed flashing a baseband, I think I saw a thread about it somewhere around... Also, flashing the full firmware should —if it's not a hardware issue— solve the problem without doing much research.

Hi Were you able to get a solution for this, My nexus 5 does not connect automatically to the network, it works only for manual search.
Please help...
Same problem here. Any solution?
I'm stuck with out any connection for the las two days. Tried removing battery, airplane mode. manual search. nothing.
Tried my line in other phone and it worked, other line in my phone and it didn't.
S4 I9500. Paranoid 4 Beta 4.
I don't have a really good solution, i reflashed my phone to stock and it did not fix the issue. I ended up switching carriers to T-mobile and haven't seen the problem since. It seems it was a SIM or network problem like i suspected

Can't text after rebooting

Every time I reboot my phone, my text messaging stops working (for roughly 3-4 hours). Everything else works fine - I can make and receive phone calls, connect to the internet, etc. I've tried using 3 different SMS apps in case that was the issue, but it doesn't make a difference. I try updating the PRL, updating the profile, even reactivating but still nothing.
I've had the issue on Lollipop and Marshmallow, and this is my second GS6 Edge. Doesn't matter whether I'm connected to wifi or Sprint network. Stock ROM, not rooted. Anyone else ever have an issue like this? I thought maybe I could mess with the settings, but when I go to 'mobile networks' I don't have the option to edit or add Access Points, and Network Operators is grayed out.

Try dialing ##72786# then don't touch the phone. It will do its thing and reboot a couple times

I have tried that multiple times, but no luck. Even tried ultra power saving mode in case one of my apps is impacting my text (however, still the same issue after a factory reset so it shouldn't be an app issue).
