I just purchased RAM Manager Pro but noticed that when I opened the app for the first time I got a popup that said I am missing busybox. Is this an app that is required in order to make RAM Manager Pro work properly? why is it required and if it isn't required why is it asking me to install?
Thanks
BusyBox is a collection of powerful command-line tools in a single binary executable that can be run for UNIX based systems, including Android. So in short busybox hmmm.... Allows more Linux commands!
Some apps require busybox to be installed. To install busybox just root your phone then go to the Play Store and install busybox installer and let it install.
If your phone isn't rooted and you don't want to root your phone then ask the developer for a money refund.
Please press the thanks button if I helped ^_^

Hello,
Id like to request some support.
I have successfully rooted my galaxy tab (7 inch model, gingerbread) and that seems to be working correctly: I have that super user app install, and every time I launch a root like app (such as shoot me etc..) there's the pop up asking for permission.
Problem comes at the next step: busybox. I have downloaded the busybox installer from the market. Followed the steps... latest message I saw from the app is that everything went smooth, but when I launch apps that require busybox (such as Shark), application says it cant find busybox...
After rebooting, I go again to the busybox installer (I got the two of them now available on the market). Once says I don't have root, which BS, and invites me to go to the super user app and forget the settings about that application. That I do, and doesnt do anything. App request root priveleges, which I grant, but it will still tell me that it doesnt have them.
The second busybox app goes a little further: It gets the root powers (which once again proves my phone is definitely rooted) and it says something like phone is rooted and many copies of busybox were encountered.
Apparently I got more than a single copy. But when I try to "re-install" it, this is what I get: can not install because system is not in read write mode.
And i did remount the system folder with root tools pro but I still get the same message...
So, how could I resolve this situation?
I have CyanogenMod 7.2 RC5.6 and I want to use supercharger v6 and the requirements are Script Manager and Busybox 1.18.2.
I downloaded Busybox 7.7 from Android market, but it does not include 1.18.2.
I checked into Busybox change log and found "busybox-1.18.2.tar.bz2", but is not executable.
How can I proceed?
use this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer
Busybox 1.18.2
In Google Play, shows that this app is incompatible. I downloaded through other sites and I'm experiencing problems with Superuser.
When I restarted my phone, I lost the app Root Explorer and Script Manager, basically some of the apps that are on SDcard.
What is going on? How is this possible, losing some of the apps that are on Sdcard, but not all of them?
P.S: I have Sdard 8gb class 4, using S2E with Sd-ext4 1gb.
Please give me a general picture of what might be the problem/problems!!
best busybox
If you are using cm7.2 rc5.6 then you will be surely having the latest busybox installed. Check your current busybox version using busybox installer. And btw v6 supercharhlger requires any busybox above version 1.16.2. So if your busybkx version is above version 1.16.2 then go for installing the script.
I need to completely remove busybox from my phone & reinstall. Titanium backup keeps telling me I have busybox 1.8.4 installed. I've used busybox free to uninstall, but it still reports 1.8.4, I used Busybox installer to install a newer version & it fails to install anything but 1.8.4
How can I just completely start over & get a new version of busybox?
I believe I need to manually remove the busybox files & then reinstall, what is a safe way to do this?
Thank you.
You could use this to uninstall it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox.donate&hl=en (click "uninstall").
TB uses busybox from the app itself ( v 1.18.4) . You can choose to use busybox from other sources by selecting it in TB settings.

hi! i use bluestacks to run android apps and i love it (except a few annoying things about it here and there) but some apps that i want (to be specific i was looking for an app that can let me choose what app with run at startup and to disable some, sorta like msconfig on windows) so far all of them want root access, i found a thread here about it but its for a an old version of bluestacks, and ive read before that that method didnt work on the current bluestacks, so what should i do to root it to install apps that want root? :/ is there an app that can automatically root bluestacks for me by any chance on the play store? im not sure exactly what version im using but according to the bluestacks agent im using 0.7.5.2700 and at the top of the window its written beta-1, im using windows 7 x64 if thats any help
I unlocked and rooted N5 as soon as I got it way back when but I don't recall if I ever installed busybox. I wiped my device to install the 4.4.3 update since one of my files/folders was altered from stickmount. I just installed TWRP and flashed supersu but now I am wondering if I need to install busybox?
I have the pro (paid version) already so not an issue of buying it, running stock rom and kernel for now just custom recovery and root.
Thanks
You don't need busybox unless some of your apps require it

BusyBox combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a single small executable. It provides replacements for most of the utilities you usually find in GNU fileutils, shellutils, etc. The utilities in BusyBox generally have fewer options than their full-featured GNU cousins; however, the options that are included provide the expected functionality and behave very much like their GNU counterparts.
If you have a root app that need BusyBox to function then yes you need it. Most root apps I have on my phone have their own counterpart already imbedded in the apps, for example Titanium Backup, which is why it works without BusyBox.
Also most custom roms already have busybox included as standard. BusyBox might be needed on Stock, only if you have a root app that needs it to function.
Btw it wont hurt you to install it if you are unsure if any of your app requires it

Thanks all, I wasn't sure but now at least I know.
I know many roms already include it but I am running stock right now.
