[Q] No Speed Improvements with CROMI 5 - Asus Transformer TF700

i have been using my tablet for studying and lately, it has been very laggy to the point of being unbearable!
i have no technical experience about the subject matter but decided to go ahead and try to unlock, root and install a ROM. the goal of which was to improve the tablet's responsiveness and usability. i was very positive upon learning about the DATA2SD mod.
i followed the instructions found on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425383 (CROMi-X 5.3a)
the tablet boots and runs, but when i ran tests (AndroBench), the Random Write Speeds were mere 0.2mb/s.. yet the SD mod seems to be in effect! as such, i could even access sdcard0 and sdcardi in file explorerers.
i mounted the sd card, class 10 Sandisk, onto my phone and ran a test using A1 SD Bench.. the results showed 8.1- 11.1 mb/s write speeds..
what did i do wrong? i have been very stressed by this entire process.. i was doing things i have never done before, and worst, i knew very little about what i was doing.
someone pls help me!
Edit.. heres a pic showing info about my storage..
i partition the 32GB card into: Fat32 5GB and EXT4 25GB

You must have done something wrong as you should have noticed a difference.
Did you go straight to data2sd? Which kernel and options did you choose? Clean wipe or dirty flash on top of stock? Did you choose all the apps or do a lighter install?

You are comparing the results of two different benchmarks?

i was previously on cromi 3.2.. rebooted.. then flashed the data2sd.. but that didnt work so i did more reading and finally, i found your signature on the forum. clicked on the tf700 option and tada! i found cromi 5.3! and it had built in data2sd! i was ecstatic! great thanks by the way!
i booted in recovery and performed a factory reset, then,
since i was using twrp 2.4, i flashed the suggested bootloader with the latest twrp (WW series), then rebooted, then went into recovery.
installed cromi 5.3 with the following selections
_that os (first option) , data2sd enabled
240 dp
cromi xlite + stock launcher
default options for stock apps
default options for misc apps
music fx
added polaris, titanium back-up, emulator, LMT (i was very found of the pie controls)
rebooted, then went into recovery to install the 5.3a patch..
the tablet boots, runs, i even have the sea wallpaper now.. but the random write speed is still the same as before.. still 0.2mb/s
super thanks sdbags for replying!

the tablet has very poor write speeds (or so i read).. its original speed would 0.2mb/s.. i read that by using Androbench i would be able to verify if data2sd speed enhancement is in effect.
i posted the sd card write speed to clarify that i am indeed using a class 10 sd card..
or am i using them wrong? i dont really have enough know-how about this, i have just been reading and rereading guides.. i just started.. i dont know why things go wrong, or how to troubleshoot them..
EDIT:
so i transferred the sd card unto my phone, ran Androbench and choose the micro option, results for random write was 1mb/s..
if it matters, my phone is a SGS4 Snapdragon variant

You may not have data2sd running. Did you format the card in GParted first form a linux distro as is required?

yes i did.. it was a very intense experience! i booted from a usb then partitioned my sd card in Gparted..
i was sorta desperate, i flashed mount_data2sd.zip just now, like 5mins earlier. if it matters, i took a screenshot of my storage..
but i cant link it cause im a new member, instead i edited my questioned and added it there..
ran Androbench, got 0.18mb/s

The sandisk is it an ultra uhs-1 class 10? Did you do a clean install? You don't need to use the mount zip for installing the ROM - that is only for TWRP operations. The rom installer should figure it out for you.

hmm.. it says SDHC.. could it be that i have the wrong type of sd card? if so, then thats great news! maybe if i change my sd card, ill have better results? at this point, i would really rather prefer a physical problem than technical ones..
i always did a factory reset if thats what clean install means..
i'm beginning to conclude that the sd card is the main problem here..I really do hope changing to another SD card will solve it.. super thanks sir for your time and knowledge!!!
sorry for the wait.. i had to weait for 5mins, got distracted while waiting for the time limit to expire

SDHC should be OK (must be 32GB or lower?)
I just ran AndroBench on my internal SD Card with fsync disabled - I'll run it on my Sandisk UHS-1 Class 10 64GB SDXC in a minute
Internal SD Card /data
External SD Card /data (ROM2SD/DATA2SD)
As you can see they are approx the same as the external data setup gives the same benefits as internal + fsync without the dangers of disabling fsync.

With fsync off you are just measuring the write speed of your RAM.

its a 32GB card sir..
as for the external data setup vs internal.. i dont seem to comprehend.. does external mean the DATA2SD mod? im really sorry, but much of the terms are very new to me..

If you are using data2sd or rom2sd then /data is on your external sd card.
Run the same test as me what do you get?

would a reinstall possibly fix this?
how I plan to reinstall..
reboot to recovery, advance wipe everything (same options, will not do anything about fsync)
then reinstall cromi 5.3, go back to home
then flash 5.3a patch, then reboot
would that be okay? i am scared to brick my device.. or how should i go about it? i have copied my files to my computer and do not have many apps, i use my tablet solely really for studying.. so a total wipeout really wont bother me..

BTW I tried the benchmarks without fsync disabled and got very similar to yours so it looks like the card controller is rubbish on the transformer as well. But the rom should feel zippy even so.
If you want to wipe your data2sd partition you'll need to run the mount zip first.
Why don't you just try a nice clean install on internal first - let's get that up and running.

heres what i did..
factory reset, then wipe internal.. then flash mount zip, delete internal (just to make sure)
then flash cromi-x 5.3, home, flash 5.3a patch then reboot (this time i disabled fsync)
the tablet booted, runs
i did perform any backups but i still have androbench and google drive(i used it to transfer the screenshots)? isnt it suppose to be gone? even my pie shorcuts are still here..
i ran the test again, here are the results (even the screenshot shortcut settings remained the same, shouldnt it have been affected by the reset as well?
anyway, the numbers showed big imporvements on write speeds!

i dont know if this helps, but heres my storage:
sdcadi, data and datai are all empty

I would like to thank you alot sir! I simply cannot afford a new tablet. Your work has breathed new life to my. More power to you sir!
As a matter of fact, I am tying this from my tablet! There isn't a thanks button in sight though.. I will hit thanks as soon as I get on the computer! Currently slaving away in the library..

OOPS, my sd card is messed up

Ok, so i tried out that apps-to-sd script that is on the other thread on here, you know, the one that doesnt require a pc, just the script
well im pretty sure its my fault since others have had success, but as soon as i finished the script, my phones apps all force closed, so i rebooted the g1 and got stuck on flashing android, wiped, got everything back together the way it was before partitioning the card using the script, and now im here
by the way, im using a different sd card from what was in it when i ran the script, its a 4gb class 6, the one im using now is a 2gb class 2
the reason for this is because (here is why i think i messed up) when viewing the sd card from my computer, it shows my used mb's as being 109mb, and available 0mb. now its 109 because i can still use the browser to download files (downloaded jf1.42 from the browser, and used linda file manager to rename it to update.zip when i was trying to find a work around from having to do the wipe)
and paragon has been hanging up on me when trying to get it to start up, could be my ****ty dell, who knows
so now my only problem is, i cant use my class 6 4gb card, and i backed up 3.5gb's of stuff off of it (which definately isnt fitting on a 2gb, let alone its a class 2).
i plan on buying a larger sd card (btw, while your here, care to tell me the largest sd card the g1 can handle? 16gb ok?) but untill then, i really want to use my 4gb, let alone i dont want to toss a 4gb mini sd
any help is definately suggested, and yes, i know whatever mistake i made, is more than likely a noob mistake, hence the "OOPS" in the title, lol
gtalk [email protected] if needed, i get email updates instantly for this thread, thanks in advance
I would repartition/format the card. Then once you are done, use a linux live cd to shrink the partition and add the ext2 partition to it (thats how I have done all of mine).

ok before i go into the linux live cd, how do i repartition/format the card? i tried right clicking the drive in my computer and hitting format, but it hangs now wheras it didnt before
go to administrative tools and in there computer management. you will see disk management in there. remove the partition, create a new one (it might let you create it and leave some space, if so, do this, if not, use the full space). once you are done, use linux (gparted worked for me under kubuntu) to resize (if you used full space) and create a second partition (linux, ext2). Windows is best at creating windows partitions, and linux is best at creating linux partitions (go figure) so this is the best (if not longest) solution. you *CAN* try to save some time and do it all in linux, but I find the extra time might save you some headache.
well, now im still stuck, could be my crappy dell, but its all i got at the moment
im in computer management, clicked disk management, and its stuck on "Loading Disk Configuration Information..."
soooo what now? lol
Well, try opening the live cd, remove all partitions, create a windows partition, then try computer management again. Maybe the partition table is corrupted (linux can handle and fix this better). If so, creating a new partition using linux will fix that, then you can go back to windows, delete/remake partition and then go back to linux to create the second partition. I know its a lot of steps, but I really do see better results using windows to create fat and linux to create ext2 file systems.

ok let me be a little more specific
i understand i need linux
i understand where to find linux, many different forms of linux
this android phone is the closest thing ive ever come to using linux, and i dont know the difference between them
is there a specific version i need?
will DSL do the trick?
where do i go in linux once im running it?
do i have to boot linux like i do windows, or can i just run it from the desktop like i can DSM?
but thanks for the link to google
EDIT: The reason i ask about DSL is because i already have that and can run it from my computer off the desktop, i think its through a emulator, not sure, i only tinkered around with it for a few minutes a couple months ago, but i know i still have it on here, so if you can do this through DSM, and can give me a noob-tutorial to do this, thats great, else point me towards which linux i need
nvm i found help on another forum

Don't feel bad, I messed up and did the same thing with my 8GB.
I finally got Vista (after a long hang) to recognize it via a USB SD adapter and right-clicked to Format. (Don't try and open it, it'll hang more)
It only said the volume was 6GB but at least the phone recognized it again.
I flashed back to Haykuro's 4.5 build and did the Format SD card from the settings and it recognizes a full 8GB again. Hope it works for you.

well i try to do that, and it formats it, but only formats 109mb in fat or ntfs only, wont do fat32
even after i format, even to ntfs, it wont see anymore than the 109
i recently attempted to do a apps to sd card using the script with a 2gb class 6 and that card only has just shy of 4 mbs, out of 2gbs, that can be seen/formatted, also only to ntfs and fat
how did you get it back up to 8gb?
it also doesnt help that my crappy dell is overheating every 10 minutes or so, i was so desperate to get my phone unbricked that when i was downloading the update.zip files i actually put my laptop in the freezer when i was using it and just left the door open lol
any suggestions just throw them here or catch me on gtalk [email protected], ill be on all night on my phone, but im tired of using my laptop on the freezer lol, if anyone posts up here, give me time to get back on here from my phone and reply. thanks in advance

To get back to 8GB I flashed back to Haykuro's 4.5 build using my other SD.
In the settings it will give you the option to format card from the phone
after unmounting. That restored it to full 8GB.

to make things easy for me since im now just using my phone, can you give me a direct link to the rom? ill download it and rename it using filemanager and flash it
btw, will this wipe out my apps going to this haykura build? because after semi-bricking my phone so many times im tired of re-installing apps lol
http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/
am i looking for build4.5-sdcard-signed or build4.5-signed
am i even looking at the right stuff? lol
Just do 4.5_signed, just make sure and Alt+W wipe before install. You'll have to go back to JF.ADP to retry the SDscript anyways. The 4.5_sdcard_signed is for when you already have Apps on SD.
I'm sure there's an easier way, but I have not found any way to format SD from phone aside from this.
if i decided to give up on apps to sd, but wanted to fix my sd card, is this 4.5 stable enough for daily use? ive read some of his blog, and i see he has 5.0, i guess this is all confusing to me since all ive known about so far is JF's stuff, i tried flashing 4.5 and i got the flashing android, im going to try to reflash and see if that fixes it
ok so i cant seem to get any of the builds to work, i tried 4.5, 4.9, 5.0, and 5.1, and each version of each one, and the furthest i get is a flashing android, except for on the 5.0 i get a cool noise, and a HTC Icon in the center of my screen, i guess this is the equivalent of the flashing android for 5.0, could be wrong
do i have to do a full wipe before using these? because i had jf 1.42 rc33 and flashed 4.5, and then 4.9, and then 5.0, then....wait...damn...while typing this and letting 5.0 sit for about 6 minutes it went to the login screen for the g1 (registration), guess im redownloading all my apps now... any reason not to keep 5.0? since its the only one i could get to work so far?

[Q] Reboot loop

I bought a new Kingston 32gb class10 microsdcard, because i decided to test Data2sd on my tf700.
I installed data2sd zip from recovery and when I booted up it said "Encryption unsuccessful", and I can only reset tablet.
I cant make a factory reset as it just reboots and displays "Encryption unsuccessful" again. I can go into recovery TWRP but all my files on my internal storage is gone, so I cant flash CROMI again.
So I copied the CROMI rom on my 32GB fat32 formatted card, but in TWRP console it says E: Unable to mount '/external_sdcard'
I should have never done this
Can anyone help please?
Apparently you didn't partition or format your card correctly - did you use gparted?
This indeed sounds like yo uare one of the many many, many that still used MiniTool, our warnings notwithstanding. Try Gparted.
Furthermore, if you can access any other storage partition in TWRP and would like to copy your backup(s) so you can reinstall you can do so with the AROMAFile Manager found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
Boot into recovery, flash the AFM zip file and it will start the file manager. It's a convenient option to have, but it does take a little getting used to.
I used minitool. Any gparted alternative on windows machines? I have ubuntu on my virtual machine but it cant see the internal card reader :/
TWRP couldnt recognize my Kingston 32gb, thats why it was unable to mount it. I used a old 512mb sd card and I have managed to install CROMI again. Awesome!
One thing I find confusing reading the Data2SD thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962507)
I am confused as to whether I need 2 partitions or 1. I always transfer files between my tablet and computer via USB cable. So should I make one 32gb ext4 partition? Or make a small 8mb fat32 partition and the second as my ext4 partition?
Allright got my questions answered else where.
I am using the Gparted CD to boot up from and format my SD card.
To anyone else do not use MiniTool as it doesnt work!
Thanks guys.

Yeah, the latter effect is what I'm trying to stop: I was in the same situation, with the added bonus of nobody having figured out how to recover. It took me an entire evening and a lot of stress to get back my microSD card after it stopped working altogether. Once a thread gets more than, say, 300 posts you can't really blame a new reader for not going through all of them -- the OP should be updated, however, when an issue is as clearly established as this one is.

Data2SD with Cromi-X issues

Hello,
I flashed _that's data2sd kernel for cromi-x's latest version. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard to partition my SanDisk 16GB Ultra/Class-10 microsd card (made 2 partitions: Ext4 and FAT32) So once I flashed the Cromi-X with data2sd kernel and restart tablet, it gets stuck on the asus page and doesnt make it past that, the loading wheel still spins but i waited about 10 minutes and it still doesnt get anywhere.
When i removed my MicroSD card and restarted, it works but then it warns me that there is issue with my memory and i have to press on "I am feeling lucky" for the startup to finish. However, after that, some apps are missing, all of their datas is missing and other issues.
So i am guessing i have 2 options (1)re-partition my MicroSD and lose all the data that the kernel moved to it? ..or.. (2)somehow undo all this action and return all the data moved to microSD's ext4 parition back to the tablet. but i do not know how. i tried reflashing cromi-x but with normal kernel and same issue persists.
Please tell me what i need to do to get out of this issue with the least amount of data lost.
Thank you!!
See my reply to your duplicate post.
Yeah duplicate posts....
You seem to be confused about what data2sd does. It doesn't move anything to the SD card. It switches the data partition from internal to the SD card....

Best advice, run the device without DATA2SD. I worked with data 2 sd on comi-x for about a month. It was a huge headache and was not worth the difference in performance. I've found running the newest cromi-x without using setcpu gives me to most stable and reliable performance. I still get the occasional lag, but compared to the headache I had when trying to work with data 2 sd was just not worth it. Comi-x runs really smooth now. Hope that helps

+1 on this. I used to use data2sd before cromi-x and just recently, i tried cromi-x w/out data2sd. I must say, there is just little noticeable differences compared to the time i used data2sd.

[Q] Thinking about porting CM to the Pantech Element. Many questions.

Hi folks, I'm new here and new to Android/CM development. I have some goals that I will outline below and a whole bunch of questions about CM development. Hope you can help answer some or all of them!
I have a Pantech Element (P4100). It's not a bad budget tablet for it's day (2012/ICS) but I think it could be a lot better with the right ROM.
GOALS-
Gain more space for applications and their data on my Pantech Element. This device has about 1GB available for apps and data that can't be placed on the internal "media" partition or the external SD card.
Move up to a newer, more modern version of Android. More responsiveness, move functionality (Google Now would be nice.)

WHAT I HAVE:
Pantech Element with official ICS update applied, rooted, with TWRP installed
Ubuntu 12.04 VirtualBox environment with Android dev tools, cyanogenmod Jellybean for Pantech Burst downloaded from github
TWRP backup of system, data, cache , boot.
Linux experience - both as a user and programmer
I have found the following resources:
Pantech Burst kernel and device tree in github (The Burst phone is a close cousin of the Element)
Pantech Pororo (=Element codename) kernel and device tree - nonworking? abandoned? in github
Insecure boot.img from somewhere on the web.
build.prop and partition map from my device
QUESTIONS-
How best to accomplish all of the above goals? I am assuming that a port of CM10 to the Pantech Element is my best option, as it would give me Jellybean and the possibility of using sd-ext for app storage (true?) but I'm open to looking at other options.
I'm not sure if it is necessary to build my own kernel as part of a CM10 installation. Seems less risky to use the stock kernel. Any reason why I would not want to use the stock kernel? Any issues with using the built-for-ICS stock kernel with JB?
I really, really need to avoid bricking this tablet. Anything I can do to brick-proof my development efforts beyond the TWRP backup I have done already?
Thank you for your help!.

I sure hope you do
I really have nothing to offer except encouragement. I'm a pretty advanced user, but no dev. I also have a rooted, unlocked, TWRP equipped Element, just dying for cyanogen. (which, btw, I wasn't sure from the topic that's what you meant, when I see "CM" I think Clockwork Mod, maybe why your topic isn't getting hits, I dunno)
I've tinkered with mine quite a bit, using secret code revealer to turn on tethering, and then...the framework thing, I forget the name...XTerra? Xzibit? Xience? whatever, to change a few things. ROM toolbox to change some others, like the start-up animation and sound. (mine plays "Bad Moon Rising" instead of stupid AT&T jingle on boot-up, it's awesome) Lucky patcher and a modified, uh...this and that. Etc, etc.
Also, I have a HEAVILY modified rooted, rommed Samsung Continuum running Gingerbread (that phone never got any update past Froyo) my point is, I'm not afraid to mess with stuff. I have zero advice for your porting, but I'll try it if you figure it out :good:
Element
I also have no experience to help you but we do need a new ROM for the Element P4100. One thing that might be considered if and when you work on a ROM. The Element mounts 2nd partition on micro sdcard, while most devices mount the first partition. So apps like link2sd can't work properly as they mount the 2nd partition, would help in moving apps to micro sdcard for internal space.
Hoping something comes for the Element
I completely agree and I hope you can make a go of it. A friend of mine a while ago was trying to help me port CM to this tablet. But he's a math Major now in grad school, so.... let's just say he has other priorities. Oh, also, I moved continents. I gave my element to my sister and my mom has one too, so I'd love to see an update to the OS through the community. The worst is when it says it doesn't have sufficient storage to install a couple of simple apps. There's really no reason for it considering you can store that kind of stuff on the sd card. I think Pantech set it up to install apps to the rom, which if I recall correctly is only 1 GB or so. but it has at least 12 GB of free built in storage out of the box and with a nice big SD card, plenty of additional storage. It really irks me that pantech didn't do a better job implementing the os. Anyway, I'm here for moral support Wish I could help test as well, but as mentioned, both elements I had access to are no longer anywhere near me
[EDIT]
Oh, I almost forgot. My friend who was helping me also had me set up a linux harddrive just for the development process. We never got very far, but if you wanted to look at the file structures, it might be helpful if you're new to developing. I remember we got a working recovery going a couple of times.... well... not fully functional, but it loaded... This was before twrp was a huge thing. anyway, if you want, I can try to repo the build files somewhere so you can look at what he had done in case it can help you figure things out a bit.

I can give you a work around for insufficient storage, I also had that. Just install link2sd and at least an 8 gig micro sdcard. Partition the micro sdcard in 2 partitions , 1st about 1 gig and 2nd the rest of the card. Both in fat32. Link2sd will write its script when you open it and then ask to reboot, from there you just link all installed apps to micro sdcard and set settings to link all future apps there. Element does have to be rooted and you won't be able to use the micro sdcard for personal stuff, not with es file explorer but some of the others will write to it. You wont have any problem with space then.
Usually the tablet writes to 1st partition and link2sd will use 2nd but for some dumb reason Pantech's software uses the 2nd instead. I called their tech and ask about it and all they said was we know.....duh.

I did this method, and had a couple question, if it's not too much of a derailment. You say the Pantech software uses the 2nd partition, but when I do it... yes, it does, but so does link2sd. I assume the method you describe you plan to use the first partition for linking apps, right? How do I make that happen?
What I have is: I just lose a gig of my card that I can't "see" with any file explorer and have a second big partition that is Fat32 so I CAN link apps, but I can't move data using link2sd. (I get a "your partition is Fat, so you can't put data there" error) AND it's the partition that shows up in settings/storage and root browser, etc. The ONLY partition, really. Ideally I'd make a 1gb partition of ext2 (so I can link apps AND private data from Chrome, etc.) as recommended by the app, but that doesn't work for some reason. I'd settle with having two true partitions that I can use, but I can't get there either.
I think part of this problem is this whole "interior/exterior SD" business. Apps in general and Android itself seems to be at a loss to smoothly integrate the two. Even Link2sd shows apps as "On SD" when it means media storage. I can't see my media storage in Clean Master, etc.

I haven't been able to use the first partition for anything. What I did was let both use the 2nd partition. I did make a folder to store any files that I wanted on the micro sdcard as the rest will be loaded with apps from lin2sd and makes it hard to find other files. Also another problem that I found is that ES File Explorer can't write/ move any files or pictures to the 2nd partition after link2sd writes its script. So I use File Manager which will move/ delete files and pictures on micro sdcard 2nd partition. So no problem with space and still able to use micro sdcard for my files. I did lose the 1gig 1st partition and can't use that.

I know nothing about modding apart from I would like to do mine as well
Its rooted, but that's as far as I got
I have 4 of these unlocked in Australia that could really benefit from it so will be following with interest

Yeah, okay, that's basically what I did. I ended up just making a 100mb first partition, since it doesn't do anything, and using the rest of a 4gb sd card I had lying around for the second. I have an 8gb SD, but it's in my old phone and full of apps, and I'm too cheap to buy yet another card.
I haven't had any problem putting images or anything else on that second partition(along with app files) for whatever reason. Maybe because I'm using Root Browser or maybe because I use QuickPic app for my photos, I dunno. Some weird behavior with some apps, and I wouldn't need this at all, probably, if I could pull the trigger on just deleting Chrome and all it's junk. Between it and Facebook app, there goes my one gig of app storage. (I hate Chrome on Android, at least on this device it's completely useless. I use Puffin and stock browser, but need some Chrome features and my saved data, etc)
Latest Firmware
I just found out there is a recent update for the Pantech Element (P4100). It was a Security Maintenance Release.
FW: JWUS11162015
OS: Android 4.0.4
Here's the amount of storage available with a fresh factory reset. I have not tried to root it, yet. Nor have I tried to install a Recovery

Encryption Unsuccessful Message
I tried both mod1, 2, and 3. Each time I load my rom, load the BOOT-MOD-3.zip, and then my apps (PA Gapps).
I keep getting a Encryption unsuccessful message. Also to note, during the initial boot, it only preps/installs 12-14 apps and not the 70+ that usually need to be done when I don't run the move mod.
Any ideas?

Use google to find how to create a sd-ext, there are many guides.

You need to wipe all partitions except sdcard in recovery, flash rom, gapps, then mod.
When you update rom, flash rom then mod again, that's it.
SD-ext needs to be a second primary partition formatted in ext4 (or f2fs if using cm12/cm12.1).
Note: New versions uploaded. Now supports all ivanich's ROMs (cm11,cm12,cm12.1).
@hinxnz: great mod, thx!
Working great for me, but I got 2 questions:
1) I flashed the newest cm12.1 two days ago and flashed your mod (all in SD except dalvic) afterwards. Now you uploaded a New Version compatible with all ivanich Roms. Does your update make any differences for me with cm12.1? Should I reflash?
2) You just said that the mod should be flashed after gapps, I did it the other way round. Does it matter? Got no problems so far.

It doesn't matter in what order, as long as the mod is flashed after ROM because it edits ramdisk in the kernel.
Your fine with the version you have, it will act the same. You can flash the newer version when you update your ROM.
Problem with storage size
Thanks very much for the mod.
I wanted to use "All Data excl. Dalvik-Cache" and ivanichs cm 12.1 with 4ext recovery.
I was using delta-roh method on my previous installation.
I wiped all partitions except SD card. clean install the rom, then pico gapps and then this mod. Then i install my backups with titanium backup and it started to say storage is full.
When I checked the storage it was still showin 1.15gb and it was full. But installed app size was showing 2gb. I wast able to get sms because of the storage was full.
Am I missing something with the installation method?
Thanks is advance for the replies.

Hey guys, I'm having the same problem than AKAndrew41. It gives me encryption unsuccessful screen after reboot. It keeps loading at bootloop and can't enter recovery neither. Can you help me?
Thank you!

Hi, I flashed boot.img (this file I unzipped from ivanich ROM 18.04.2015 ROM) from the computer with adb and flashed ivanich ROM 18.04.2015 from TWRP ivanich. It's helped.

You could use a root file explorer and check the properties of /idata or just enter code below into a terminal emulator. To enable terminal in cm12, goto developer options and enable local terminal.
Code:
df /idata

To enter recovery pull battery out, then reinsert it. Hold down volume down button while powering up device and it will enter bootloader, which then you can enter recovery by selecting recovery.
You must have a second primary partition (sd-ext) of your sdcard formatted as ext4 (or you can choose to use f2fs if using cm12 or cm12.1).
If your formatting your whole sdcard instead of shrinking your fat32 partition, then you need to create the first partition (fat32) first and then the second (ext4 or f2fs), otherwise they will be labelled wrong.
CM11 doesn't support f2fs, so if you format it as f2fs on CM11, you will get an encryption error and same goes I guess if you format a partition in ext2 or ext3 because it's not configured in fstab.
Did you try flashing ROM and then mod again, maybe it was a bad flash, it can happen.
I'm using your MOD Plus V3 with 2 f2fs partitions at the moment, which I created with GParted.
What does TWRP do when wiping sd-ext in recovery? If I need to wipe both is there any posibility without using GParted?
And similar, what is backuped by TWRP when doing a backup of sd-ext?
Multi swap
Hi there,
I love the work you've been doing on the sensation and I'm glad to still be using it 4 years on with the latest CM12.1. I have a problem with lagginess after multiple attempts to install CM12.1 and your boot mod v1.2. It seems to be an issue relating to the memory and swap, and I noticed running the cat /proc/swaps shows BOTH /dev/block/zram0 AND the data partition. Removing the zram0 by using the swapoff command speeds the phone up loads. Is there a permanent fix though to persist after reboots?
Thanks,
Keith

Hi Keith, zram shouldn't be active, my mod disables it in fstab.pyramid, found in the root directory.
I don't know why it's activated on your side, maybe an app or init.d script.
To disable it, you could use an init.d script.
Code:
#!/sbin/sh
# Disable ZRAM
swapoff /dev/block/zram0
ZRAM sorted
Thanks for the reply mate. I installed TWRP (from 4ext) and used it to reformat everything and start from scratch which sorted out the ZRAM0 issue.
After reinstalling ivanich's CM12.1 and your boot mod v1.2 it was much better. I'm still having intermittent lag and slow network speeds so I reverted to CM11 this morning (with your boot mod) to see if it was any quicker. Seems to be much quicker but the lag persists. Weirdly I get the lag most in the settings, and it bombs out sometimes. I'm wondering if it could be to do with my SD card partitions which were created in GParted, not TWRP.
If you've got any ideas of things to check I'm all ears.
Thanks for the kind support!

No worries, first try a lower swappiness value by lowering value in /cache/swap.conf, save it and then reboot.
Try 30 or 40, default is 60. See how it goes.
If you still have lag then your memory could be running very low, use an app or init.d script to raise minfree values slighty higher.
I don't think it has to do with your sd partitions, could be your sdcard is a little slow maybe.
You could probably check the partitions in twrp or gparted though.
If you sort it, post what you did :good:

Update: Blew everything away again and installed cm12.1 fresh without the SD-EXT mod and it runs fast and lag-free. Installed the sd-ext and lagginess came back. :-/
I had previously tried a fresh install with another SD partitioned by TWRP, made no difference to lagginess. Lower swappiness values seemed to have a minor difference but still laggy.
The lagginess seemed to be mostly when loading from disk. Applications in RAM seemed to run fine until they needed to load something. Downloads very slow on WiFi or 3g, titanium backup very slow too. Strange...
It would be nice to get it working but this is a tad baffling. Thanks for your kind support!

Seems to me that your sdcard is not fast enough, what make and kind of card do you have?
SDHC or SDXC and UHS-I or UHS-II
I have a Sandisk Ultra SDHC UHS-I and it's only just fast enough for this mod, I need a faster one really.
I have no issues with download speeds with wifi, not really related to mod though, could be slow at writing to sdcard.
Titanium could be slow due to slower writing speeds on sdcard too as it has to build dalvik-caches on sdcard when restoring apps.
Edit: Can you try BOOT-MOD-1.1.zip, it's the non-plus version. It would be good to know if you still experience lags with it, if you do, then sdcard is not fast enough, otherwise could be something to do with the plus version, cheers.

I'm using a Lexar 32GB class 10 SDHC, had no issues with it. I ran the A1 SD card benchmarking tool and it measured reads of 17 and writes of 11 MB/s. The internal flash reported speeds of 25MB/s read and 7MB/s write by comparison.
I'll try the BOOT-MOD v1.1 and report back...
