Question about battery of tf300t and tf300t dock - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How long does the battery last in the tablet and dock? When the battery dies, how do i go about replacing it and where to buy dock and tablet battery? Tablet tf300t is around 1 year old, dock is about 3 to 4 months.

Are you talking about how long the battery will last on a charge or how many years it will be in "good health" .

How many years it will be in 'good health'. Sorry, I thought it was clear.

Well, it uses a lithium battery, which can be measured in charge cylces, as shown here: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
It depends on your usage.

[Q] Did your transformer came pre-charged?

Hi guys,
I just got my transformer 2 days ago and my unit was not pre-charged while i noticed some others in the store was pre-charged, the salesperson just told me to charge it at home, which I did and everything seems to be fine so far. My question is that is it normal for the device not to be pre-charged ? My IPad 1 came pre-charged and from my understanding is that these devices should be pre-charged at the factory to have an optimal battery life (or something along those lines). So is this normal? Was yours pre-charged or otherwise?
Pre-charged with about half battery.
I'm sure it left the factory fully charged but by the time you take it home could be days to weeks
Yup, mine was precharged to about 60%.
It was about half - I left it on for a while as I was reading the brief instruction manual and taking pictures of everything
It's usually best practice to store Lithium Ion batteries between 60 and 75% battery life.

Mine was at 2%, two...
Two? That sucks! Mine was 23%...

mine was pre-charged at 60%
mine was dead as a door nail, I bought mine from Walmart and received it sometime last week. However when I bought the Acer iconia from bestbuy it had about half charge
sounds like we're having difference ranges of battery charge off the shelf..wonder if its normal?
12% here, partner's was ~15%
Mine was 60% out of the box.
22% here

I was surprise at how low mines was when I got it. It was at 15 %.
Mine was at 30%.
Why does it matter? Follow the instructions and stick it on the charger for 8 hours or until it is full. Give the battery a chance to calibrate.

I guess its so we have to have something to worry/complain about.
mine was around 50%.
Mine was close to 45%

How does the charging from the dock go?

Hey guys how does the charging with the dock happen? I'm asking cause I always wondered what it was like.
Does it just drain the keyboard of battery first (While plugged in, dock will always be supplying power first until it's drained) or is there a sort of balance between the 2 (dock kicks in at a certain percentage or something)? Cause by always draining the dock first, the battery in there will get damaged right? It's not exactly explained in the 201 manual (I downloaded it to have a look heh).
I've witnessed a balance from mine. The keyboard charges for a while, then it doesn't. I haven't figured out the rules yet, but it does make sense. You don't want to completely discharge an lithium ion too many times.

As long as you keep it in the dock, I think it will drain correctly and you'll reach the end of your battery in both devices about the same time. Or you won't, and you'll have battery all day long

When can i use it?

Just picked my 32gb gray tf700 from best buy and plugged it in the charger. So when can I turn this thing on without having to worry about battery issues.
ASUS said : "Wait 8 hours".
Some people can't wait, but I did. I don't know who is right, because there were many discussions about battery technology, and we still don't know who is right.
I turned mine on immediately lol
I only used it for a couple minutes before shutting it back off and charging it for the night

Mine was turned on immediately also. The tablet had about 30% battery left so after letting it recognize my local network as well as my google stuff I put the charger on it and powered it down. As soon as the charging light changed to 'green' it went into my TF201 Dock keyboard which while booting up did an upgrade to my TF201 Dock from 206 to 207. Have never looked back since.

Tablet charges within 3 hours. Once it hits 100% it stops charging the device. So leaving it on for an extra 5 hours makes no sense. A green indicator will also let you know when it is near or completely charged or just look in the notification bar.

i turned mine on right away and checked it out for a bit while it was charging, then let it sleep and charge.
i've had no battery issues at all.
I played with mine almost immediately and battery has not been a problem

as soon as you plug it in to charge the tablet will boot up. personally i can wait, so i just turned it back off and let it charge overnight
Are you using it yet?

Keyboard dock battery not draining before tablet dock

I am running stock JB on my TF300. I have noticed that when I have the tablet in the keyboard dock, it doesn't always use the keyboard dock's battery first, as my previous TF101 did. It is supposed to pull power from the keyboard dock battery, then from the tablet once the dock battery is dead. Anyone else seeing this? It does seem like it will work correctly if I reboot the tablet while in the dock.
Subject should read "Keyboard dock battery not draining before tablet BATTERY"
The dock charges the tablet. I'm not sure how it was on the TF101 but i think the dock of the TF300 charges the tablet when it goes beneath 80% or so

Yup, I know. I am docked and the dock battery is at 91% and the tablet battery is at 70% and dropping. The dock battery is not dropping; only the tablet battery. Therein lies my problem.
I think I have the same problem. Did you manage to fix it?
I'm noticing this, too. I recently rooted and put Hydro (JB) on my 300, and that's when I started noticing it. That's not to say that it wasn't doing it before, rather it's very likely I just didn't notice because I was too distracted by the lagginess of stock. But my tablet will keep dropping and the keyboard stays roughly the same. I think sometimes after a while it'll switch, almost as if it runs off the tablet most of the time but occasionally switches, but I'm not sure yet.
I think I had this issue before but I don't use my dock that much so I didn't make any note of it. I'm on the ICS bootloader running a custom JB ROM (Baked Blackbean) and I don't have this issue, at least not that I can recall.
I think the settings vary depending on which ROM you're running. i.e. one based on stock versus one based on CM.
So I'm on my tablet right now with the dock connected and the tablet battery is charging, but the lock screen shows it as discharging, so that's kinda odd. Anyone know what's causing all this?

Did you manage to find out what was happening? i recently had this problem and was thinking it was a problem with the dock. It wouldnt pull any power from the dock (94% on dock and 70% on tablet) but once it hit 69% it just kicked in and now i see the blue >> indicating that the dock is charging the tablet.
i know this thread is a bit old, but i was panicking for a couple of hours while i was searching for information. hope it helps.

Inverted battery priority when discharging

OK. The title is probably confusing but here are the details. I'll be running my tf700 with fully charged dock and tablet while it is docked. Well, the tablet's seems to be the main battery used; it drains while the dock battery remains 97%-100%. Has anyone experienced something like this? Does anyone know if the performance/balanced/power-saving modes have any say in which battery gets used first? Thank you.

Yes, that is perfectly normal. As soon as the tablet battery drops to lower than about 70%, the dock will start recharging the tablet.
Ah, good to know. I did notice it start charging. I was confused since this behavior is different from my tf100 withthe dock.

I just checked mine and it started with the tablet battery first, but when it reached 89%, the dock battery kicked in and recharge the tablet battery.
Mine does it at 70% as well.
Sounds like you got a better one buhohitr!
Same here as well.
