[Q] Moving an apps user profile data - General Questions and Answers

I've just rooted my Springboard with ICS 4.0.3 and have been trying to move some apps to the SD card because even though
it's reporting I have 5gb open on internal it won't let me update or install anything if my primary storage is set to internal now.
It has to be set with the SD card as primary.
Anyway I have a couple of OBDII apps, Torque Pro and Dashcommand and it seems now that I changed primary storage to SD
when I open the apps they don't see the profiles I already set up for my car.
It doesn't matter if I change the location of the apps are on the tablet or sd. I tried moving them back and forth using the settings in Android
and tried using Link2SD. Still the same thing.
The only way the profiles come back is if I change Androids primary storage back to internal.
Is there any way I can move these apps complete data storage to the sd card with the app? Or make the apps look for the data back on the internal?
I think it can't find it because with it set as sd for primary the app looks for that data on the SD.
Can someone give an idea what to do other than redo the profiles or reinstalling it?

Nothing I do will make my external sd card default

I can't find a solution anywhere for this problem, nothing I makes apps or data move to my sd card.
Is anyone (are you even able to) install apps or save data to the external sd card on the Atrix? It seems like most systems are set up with /mnt/sdcard as the external, so I cant get any app2sd programs to work, they stay on my phone.
I'm rooted.
I have the setting in applications to install on the external, I also made the default storage external, but everything still saves on my phone.
I even formatted my sd card into Fat and ext2 (and swap), all primary.
I searched and everyone says the same thing, and it keeps saving on my phone.
Do i need to somehow change it so my external is mnt/sdcard?

Whenever I plug in\out icons disappear then reappear, and on reboot takes 5 mins ...

Why is it whenever I plug in\out phone, the home screen is blank, then 10-20 seconds later all the icons\widgets appear?
Also, related I assume, when I reboot, all the icons come up as the green system standard icon, then the actual icon is populated about 3-5 minutes after. The phone can't seriously be THAT slow can it?
I have a feeling it's based on the apps on the internal vs external SD card, but still, this is 2011, why do they take so long to populate?
Thanks!
This is a question I have had. I have noticed it takes several minutes to populate my Apps in app drawer.

Super annoying when I just want to get loaded back up and run an app and can't because it's not showing in the apps listing yet and on the main screen it's showing as a default system icon. Ugh :-(
Where it gtg to solve my problems?!?!
After unplugging your phone from a PC, the internal and external SD cards do a rescan.
It can take a while, especially depending on the size of your external card.
I suggest moving ALL of your apps back to the phone and off the SD card. This helps a bit. Unless you have a trillion apps, there's not much point putting apps on the SD card anymore. That was for old android phones that had little to no internal storage space for apps.

What's the best way to move them from external to internal with ease? Then how do I tell my phone to install to internal SD by default?

First of all, this isn't a matter of installing to the internal SD as opposed to the external SD. I recommend installing to the 2GB "Internal phone storage".
If you look under
Code:
Settings > SD card and phone storage
you'll see what I mean.
The internal phone storage never gets unmounted.
Go to:
Code:
Settings > Manage applications > On SD card
Click each app and the tap the "Move to phone button"
You could get the app SDMove which may help you manage your apps a bit easier. I'm sure there are dozens of other similar (maybe better) apps, too.
The only apps I install to the SD card are games. I really don't care if a game isn't available the second I unplug my phone from the PC.
I have no clue how to set everything to install to phone by default instead of some apps defaulting to SD. I believe it's something internal to the individual app installer itself.

[Q] save everything to sd card by default

Hi! I apologize, I cant seem to get the search function to work on my phone.
Anyway, I just bought the samsung infuse 4g the other day. One of the first things I did was change the default storage location for everything to the sd card. It worked fine but today I did a factory reset (just to see how it worked). Now I cant remember how to set it again. Just to clarify, it was an option to send EVERYTHING to sd card ( internal sd im guessing, the one with 13 gigs of space). Everything meaning contacts, apps, media, photos and such. I know how to do those thing individually, but there was an option for everything. Anybody know? Thanks.in advance..
If you have an external sd card, setting the camera save option to sdcard saves them to external sd card.
Do you know that? Dont know why, but it does. Everything else goes to internal sd card as far as ive seen, even game data. I never set it to do that, it just does.

[Q] External 2 Internal App

I have a china Feitneg H7189 Smartphone with a pretty low memory and decided to give this app a try.
The following are some details of my phone:
Internal space: 0.98GB
Phone Storage: 1.70GB
Sd Card: 16GB
So i partitioned my Sd card creating two primary partitions and one of them ext2 so that i could use with External2Internal App. I downloaded the app and configured it correctly, selected the necessary options such as "At boot" and swapped the sdcard with the memory.
Everything ran smoothly and brilliantly until i got two problems!
1) Every photo i take gets duplicated on the SD Card and on the Phone/internal memory which is very annoying to have a duplicate photo of everything.
2) I recently needed to turn off my phone which i rarely do to change the battery as i have 2 battery's and forgot to charge one of them. When i installed the other fully charged battery and turned on my device all the apps i downloaded where missing? ! Its as if the External2Internal App did not work. so i tried to manually go and arrange the settings again and try to make the swap again, but that did not work. I am going to flash my phone again and re-root it again to have a clean phone.
So basically my question is. Is there a way that i can arrange the problem of external2internal that when i turn off the phone my apps disappear, or do you recommend me using any other application which could help me swap my sd with my phones memory?
Thanks !

[Q] [Desire 816] [CM12] Any way I can move app data without Link2SD?

Partitioning is not working correctly, when I partition my SD card which is 64GB it only shows 9GB available when I plug it into my PC. Also, I can't use the ext file systems for some reason, only FAT32. I can partition it if I plug it into my old phone but when I put it back into the phone I am currently using it still shows only 9GB. I want a 50GB partition for music and other media and a smaller partition for apps and app data. Is there a way I can get this set up correctly or is there a way to put app data on the SD through the terminal?
Edit: I figured out a workaround. Still having the SD card problems but I can ignore that now. I set the download location to the SD card using the terminal, allowing me to move apps from within the settings menu. Then I used FolderMount to move the data of apps that have a lot of it, like Facebook, Spotify, etc.
