Would love to see a network battery service in omni rom. Like this one from PA:
When idle (screen off) switching to 2G can help extend battery life as 2G generally uses less power than 3G or LTE. + 30 seconds after screen turns off, set network type to 2G + If a music player is active (playing), do not set network to 2G + When device is unlocked, reset to orignial network type

hi all,
has anybody experienced delays in getting sms?
im trying to figure it when the device (tg01) is in sleep mode, would it still recieve sms, mms?
occasionally when i bring it out of sleep mode it comes up with no signal, then after 2 seconds full signal and the orange logo.
is this a graphics glitch or is it actually no signal?
anyone else have this problem or just me?
I've noticed it going through the "registering" graphic a few times when it comes out of sleep mode. Not sure if it really had no signal or not. Haven't tried testing SMS speeds, but I normally receive SMS and calls during sleep no problems. Having said that, there were a few test calls I did while the device was asleep that didn't go though. Not quite sure why.
ive had my wife text me and i dont recieve it til i resume from sleep.
it must have something to do with the radio going into powersave or something. been hunting through the reg trying to find a graphic refresh key but nothing yet.
What are your Power Saving Settings set to, out of interest?
my power saving are as follows
cpu-medium with "limit cpu to save battery" unticked
auto sleep set to 5 minutes
wifi is set to balanced with no restrict sleep mode and no enable during sleep
backlight is set to 1 minute and light on when button pressed is ticked
i currently get 2 days with moderate usage, if i forget to turn wifi off then its dead by the time i get into bed
do you have the same problem or experienced anything similar?
Like I said above, I did a few test calls while the device was asleep that didn't go though, but haven't really experienced the same problems as you.
My power saving settings are:
CPU speed: HIGH
Limit CPU speed for battery: OFF
WIFI: Favour Transmission Rate
Restrict Sleep Mode: OFF
Restrict WIFI during sleep mode: GREYED OUT
Turn off backlight if not used for: 30 SECS
Turn on backlight when button pressed or screen tapped: ON
Adjust brightness automatically: OFF
Brightness: MID-WAY
Sleep Mode if not used for: 5 MINS
Are you on orange?
do you use 2g or 3g?
im not entirely sure how to find out my 2g-3g status as all the icons look the same
my sims an orange 2.5g payg
I'm on Orange 3g payg. I would seriously recommend upgrading to a 3g sim card. Just go into an Orange shop, explain that you're a "pay as you go" customer (don't say "payg") with a 3g phone but only a 2g sim. Say that you want to do a "sim upgrade" to a 3g sim. They should handle that there and then for you. Don't let them tell you you need to call 450, because you don't. They can do it right there in the shop.
You can tell your 2g-3g status by looking at the icon to the left of the signal strength on the top status bar. If it says 3G+ then its connected to the 3g network. If it has a big G then its connected to the 2g (GSM) network.
i only get a g with crossed lines in it like a mesh, tbh the guys in my orange shop are utter smug **** heads so ill prob phone up and have a moan, get some freebies.
just put of interest do you know what the axcon.dll does?
axcon.dll is the library for accessing the accelerometer in the TG01. See here for more details.
its a shame the work stopped where it was, i tried upping the dword of 101 to 256 and i had to hard reset my phone, butr gay, but maybe smaller increments may work to speed up the rotation speed
Not quite sure what you mean. I only briefly skimmed over the blog post, but from what I can tell they successfully got a C# library working as well as a JavaSE (Mysaifu JVM) library, mentioned in the blog post comments.
From what I see, the only thing we still need is an HTC/TG01 wrapper, so that apps designed for the HTC accelerometer will work on the TG01.
yeah, they have set up a driver to catch all the tg01 sensor calls and translate it into the htc type. but theres just source code, no one has seemed to take this further
Does anyone know of any widget toggles that can easily turn on and off the 4G and leave the 3G on? Or, even better, is there any way to get the 4G to automatically turn off when the phone goes to sleep and turn back on when the phone wakes up, 3G remaining on while it's asleep of course. I've got Power Control Widget Plus, however the 4G toggle it comes with doesn't work on the G2X.

I've yet to see my phone on 3G, it's either 4G or 2G. have you?
I'm looking for this as well- anybody have suggestions?
Google doesn't have API for it so no, not an easy toggle.
You can however use Tasker to do this.
Or just wait for CM7
What is the purpose behind the wifi sleep policy. I flashed to gingeritis and it recommends setting the sleep to 15mins for battery life. It appears to go back to the 3G/4G radio when wifi goes to sleep which I thought was counter productive and wiFi was better for battery life. Can any explain this to me?
I can't say this works for everyone, but I have "enable always on mobile data" disabled, so when I don't use my phone for 10 minutes or so it disables mobile data. If I have the WiFi sleep period set to 15, then it will disable all data in 10-15 minutes. Very useful if you have extended periods of time where your phone remains off.

HTC supplies a data widget that I use every day while I am at work. Go to personalize, then browse all HTC widgets and the data widget I use is the Data Dashboard. Its 43/58 on my phone but mine might not be right on as I remove a few of the widgets.
While I am at work I just click the mobile setting on the widget to turn data off while still maintaining my voice connect so I can receive txt and phone calls.
As for the OP I keep my wifi set to never sleep no matter what rom I'm on. This way when I'm at home my phone doesn't have to look for the network its always connected to my wifi access point. I have always heard the same as the OP that having wifi on is much better than using the network as far as battery life is concerned.
Setting wifi sleep policy to never is best for battery life. Letting the phone switch back to 3g uses more battery than just letting it stay on wifi all the time.

Thank you that's what I thought!
Hi,
Have you checked battery usage during sleep in airplane mode?
I get around 20mA which is almost 2 times more than normal sleeping with gsm radio on.
Rom: Endymion V2.2
i had wifi problems with that radio
that radio is battery drainer.
My standby usage is between 9 and 11 mA so not so bad I think and I dont have any wifi problems with it.
Not ideal! but not ROM related.

Its nothing to do with the ROM its a general SENSE based problem, that is present on all sense ROM that I've tried. You'll find WIFI=OFF and MOBILE DATA=OFF uses less battery than AIRPLANE=ON which is stupid.
Basically don't use Airplane mode to save battery. If on an actual airplane then power the device off.
I disagree that its Radio related I can get as low as 5-6-7mAh while device sleeps (WIFI=ON MOBILE DATA=OFF)
I was trying to find a way to turn off gsm radio and airplane mode seems to be the only one option. Battery saving is not what I need it for.
As for my device, I found that I get less power usage on mobile data on than wifi on (during sleep) but I can't get under 10mA. This is probably related to gsm signal strength in my area (tured off umts completely) or some background tasks but have no idea which one can I get rid off.
When I'm at home, I always switch my phone to WiFi. I always get a great signal in my house but the battery drain seems high. I did notice that the up and down arrows under the WiFi icon are constantly blinking. If I have the phone on 4G, the lights do not blink constantly and my battery life is good. Do the blinking lights mean there is some type of data being transferred? Why would they blink on WiFi, but when I switch to 4G they don't?
Some apps only download when they have WiFi available.
I have G+ set to upload photos over WiFi only, Play store only downloads app updates if it has WiFi available, etc.
I would start with checking of something like that is going on.

You're not alone
I have a similar issue (will open a new thread) but mine is always in "downloading" mode and consumes a VERY large amount of data traffic on my network. It's an android system task that's causing it. I've disconnnected my router from ALL other connections (including internet) and the download when connected to the router continues.
This just started happening to me and happens on multiple different JB ROMs, including stock.

Use a build.prop editor to change your WiFi scan interval to be as low as possible

data usage monitoring
It's too bad you can't use the "Mobile Data stats" thing to investigate which app is causing it.
Is there an equivalent for Wifi traffic? Would be nice.
