I installed a custom recovery through the WUG method before someone directed me to the GooManager method which seems a lot easier. They both install the same custom recovery (TWRP). In the app it asks if i want to install a custom recovery so does that mean if i install the TWRP again I'll be able to use GooManager for finding roms and nothing will break, can i download the roms from GooManager and just flash it from there using my already installed recovery (without installing the same recovery from GooManager), or should i just go the long way and install through the quickboot method?
It doesn't matter. Once you have recovery, you have recovery. It's a partition on your device that doesn't care where it comes from.

Like pirateghost said it doesn't matter. But I wouldn't use goomanager to flash roms. Download then from xda and flash them in twrp. Goo manager can be a brick waiting to happen if you're not careful.
Use xda not goo. This is personal opinion I am leery of it and do not trust it entirely to modify my phone.

1) Ditch the toolkit, save a kitten. Use fastboot to install a custom recovery.
2) Ditch GooManager, it's too unreliable to use to mod your OS. Download custom ROMs and kernels from XDA.
After viewing threads of what the ROM manager app had done to some people's phone I would follow Birch's advice.

ClockworkMod Recovery does not give you root. It gives you the ability to install ROMs, Kernels, and MODs.
If you're going to be using a rooted kernel, then just install ClockworkMod and then install your kernel.
If you just want root, I'd imagine both will be fine as the first link seems to just use the scripts from the 2nd link.
You shouldn't use any one click method if you plan on using a custom kernel. The kernel itself will have root, and can conflict with the once click method. Use your preferred method of flashing CWM, and flash your kernel. Root is not needed for CWM to work.
Well for some reason without rooting I can not install CWM. So should I root, install CWM and then uninstall root?

Should you flash a kernel or a rom first?
I would go ROM first, then kernel, in the off chance that the ROM has a kernel included. You also don't need to reboot between flashes; flash within the same session.
I hear some people use it some say it doesent work. Does it work? Is it worth installing? Just want to know if its worth my time or not lol

The problem with ROM manager and the G2x is that the proper method of installing the recovery is is not used. If you install recovery from ROM manager it does install a fake recovery that is basically a use-once recovery. The proper method to install the recovery on the G2x is to use NVFLASH to low level flash it. Once you install the recovery in this method the device is almost unbrickable.
Many functions in ROM manager do not work with the NVFLASH installed recovery so this kinda renders ROM manager useless. I think the only function in ROM Manager that has some merit is the fix permissions, but you can run the same thing faster from CWM recovery that is installed through NVFLASH.
A side benefit to using NVFLASH is that you do not have to root your device to install it since it is a much lower level than the OS. You can install recovery, backup the stock OS, then flash a custom ROM. If you want to go back to stock just restore the backup and use the NVFLASH program to install the stock recovery and you are back to stock for repairs or whatever.

I've installed recovery with nvflash but and works great but just wondering cause roms will come with ROM manager installed and I'm just wondering if I'm missing anything I guess by not letting it install its "fake" recovery or if it will mess up my nvflash version?

I have never tried allowing ROM Manager to install the fake recovery but I do not think that it will be harmful to the NVFLASH recovery.
I believe this because many people use ROM Manager without knowing and post here that they bricked their devices and the stock recovery is always reachable. Also I bought my G2x from craigslist from someone that used ROM Manager and "bricked" the phone. I was able to fix it using the NVFLASH to flash CWM and install CM7.
Some roms (like Bionix) come with Rom Manager because the user can track OTA updates of the Rom they're using, so if the dev releases a new version, the user will get a notification that an update is available for download, if the dev set it up right.

A while ago i rooted my phone and put a custom rom on it, liked it the got sick of it then flashed back to stock . a day or two later i instantly regretted this decision so i reverted back. This was a very drawn out process because my phone was being dumb etc, i initially tried to flash TWRP on it which worked , but it never flashed roms correctly for me , so i flashed CWM on it and that worked. flashed a rom , and it worked. I now want to flash a new rom but when i boot to recovery , TWRP is still there but when i am in Rom manager, it says CWM 6.0.3.1 is installed.
Is there a way to use odin to flash this back to stock and just flash CWM on the so i can get on with my life and flash new roms?

Download GooManager from the Playstore. Then from GooManager run OpenRecoveryScript which will flash the latest TWRP.

I'm pretty sure that GooManager will install only TWRP. I would start there to fix your problem, since GooManager will install the recovery easily. Once you have TWRP you can switch by installing CWM if you'd like. For that, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305721
I am running a CWM recovery now and want to install TWRP recovery. What is the best and easiest way to do this??? Noob Question, however I had a app when I got the phone and I put CWM on it. I keep seeing everyone favors TWRP and want to give it a go... Thanks and sorry if its out there already.
Edit - For all of those not familiar with fastboot and flashing recoveries, there is an app in playstore called flashify that will flash a recovery or boot images. You just need to d/l the file that you want like TWRP 2.5 or CWM and save the file on your sd card. Select it in Flashify and bam..
That's cool. I wasn't aware you could flash CWM or twrp without a computer using fastboot. Nice.

It's like ROM Manager, the first one I ever used to flash CMW. But never heard of Flashify, nice one there. Just do a zip install of a TWRP from CMW, I don't think you need an external soft to do this D: . They recommend to use GooManager but I don't think there's a difference at all.

Stump root, use brute force if the auto doesn't work. Then use autorec which will install the latest TWRP recovery for you.

I followed this method and rooted my LG G2 D800 on the Y update, installed this Autorec, it had option to reboot into recovery or to exit.
Do we need to use this tool every time to enter recovery to flash a ROM as I chose reboot and did not see any advanced options present and nothing under developer, have not checked SU yet, if it is there, will come back and clarify the next step, as simply installing Autorec does not give me the option to reboot into recovery using the phone's main power button.
I was able to enter recovery, this Autorec installed 2.7.0.0 according to the splash screen, and the AT&T D800 is not on their list.
The TWRP manager says it is not installed, so tried CWM manager and installed CWM, it said some 5.x version installed when latest is the 6.0.4.4, downloaded an img, but been a while since pushed those onto a device and lost the knowledge..
It was within the CWM app that had option to reboot into recovery after it thought it installed properly, the TWRP was very basic and I lucked out not bricking my device using it in my opinion. I didn't see much info on flashing to CM12 and used same method as before, I see others flashing 2 times and adding kernels, some say to add SU, some say to not, a guide would rock.

The D800....y stock image does not have the option to reboot into recovery, since there wasn't a custom recovery to boot into until you installed twrp. Even still, no option unless you install a custom ROM or useYou should use TWRP anyway, better support for it on the D80x series and it has more features.
