[Q] {RESOLVED} HELP? No service alert, but I do have service and data - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

{RESOLVED} i forced close the phone, done!
I searched around, but was unable to find any others with the same issue. In my status bar I have an alert No service. Selected network (T-Mobile) unavailable. I am unable to get rid of the alert although I do have cell service and data???
I also tried removing the sim, rebooting and putting the sim back in...still a no go.
I have tried going to the available network page and selecting T-Mobile. When I do, it says registered on network, but the no service indicator remains in the status bar.
Any ideas?

Toggle airplane mode ON-OFF. It worked for me once.
This has happened to me on purity Rom with not Xposed installed.
I don't Know whose idea it wast to add a persistent notification about 'No service' when you are on a dead zone or airplane mode.
The signal bars and Airplane icon are enough imo.

only gravity box, but within gravity box too many tweaks to list one by one.

Widget to toggle mobile data?

I am looking for a simple widget or way to turn mobile data on/off like the one I used in Cyanogen Mod 7 on my Inspire.
There's an App for that
Widgetsoid2.x
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jim2
I don't think it actually turns it on and off like it does in CM ROMS. I believe it just takes you to the screen so you can turn off(uncheck) the data.
I believe only AOSP ROM have that options to actually turn it off directly

No luck with Widgetsoid2.x most of the widgets including the toggle of mobile data, the flashlight and more don't work on this phone. Thanks though.
I found a fairly easy solution to this. In the pull down menu there is both a WiFi toggle and an Airplane mode toggle. So, I just hit Airplane Mode then the WiFi toggle to turn my WiFi back on.
This is a HUGE battery saver, no real need for me to have LTE or any mobile data on most of the time because I am within range of WiFi. Seems that this has allowed me killer battery life.
Now I just need to hope for or figure out how to write an app myself which will detect a valid WiFi network, then automatically turn off mobile data. That would be nice! I think this was/is possible in CG7 but can't remember.
it works on the T989 version, so seems like the LTE is not compatible with the 4G switch in the widgets

Duh, just remembered that airplane mode also turns off the phone, voice, texting etc.. Ha ha.. Not what I was after. Oh well, back to needing a solution if anyone has one.
in Widgetsoid2 you have the option to control the data flow with the widgets, even if the LTE/4G widget doesn't work
have you tried those?

Do you mean the Mobile Data widget? If so, I did try that one but even when I turn it on, it doesn't work. Doesn't cut off mobile data at all or it brings me to the screen where I can turn it off myself. I can't remember which because I uninstalled it already.
this is partly why i switched to BeastMod since it's in the notification bar
Try 'Simple Mobile Data Link' by Marc Ole Bulling from Android Market. I installed it on my Skyrocket and it doesn't use AT&T data at all! So no more surprise data usage bills
won't have to worry myself once my original iPhone shops, unlimited data loophole
I will adding this to status bar hopefully before the weekend is over on my stock ROM posted in development section

Maybe it doesnt support your phone and did you reboot after installing the icon?? When i installed a WIFI icon it would go on and off, and i would i have do things like turning WIFI on then off for the ew icon to show up.

[Q] no SIM card notification

hi all,
just got a moto g, just wanna check with everyone, its a dual-SIM enabled phoine but i only require the use one 1. as a result, the second SIM notification is always on the top right of the notification bar. any way to remove that?
thanks!
bump for any answer to this !
I believe you can edit it on Xposed + Gravity Box combo. You can also flash a single sim rom, I believe.

If he could activate another signal meter in the Status Bar then you can deactivate it maybe in the same way.

i failed to mention, i was looking for any non-root solution, since its a new phone and i m new to rooting myself, i am wary of voiding the warranty just yet.
it is a bit surprising that there is no simple way to turn off those icons in the status bar when using single SIM.

I tried to delete that line but it only made the phone unable to detect any sim cards.
I also tried to use Gravity Box, but I failed to find any options there to remove the 2nd sim notification.
Are there any other ways?

Problem with "Roaming Indicator OFF"

As in topic. How can I turn it off?. I am running latest cm 11 (18.04) tried to wipe cache/delvik while installing. Instead of normal "t-moible" in my notification bar I got this weired "Roaming Indicator OFF" . Can't even call anyone becasue of it. Please help me
Anyone can answer? I acctaully did clean installation ( wiped system, data , cache ) and installed latest cm11 but still got this problem. Right now I will flash stock android via nexus root toolkit. Maybe this will help.
Okay flashing stock via nexus root toolkit solved my problem. Right now will try to flash latest cm 11 and see what happen.
Okay just flashed cm 11 and still no issues. Right now will try to restore my backup and see if i get this problem again.
Restored back up and here we are again with this bull****.. Got no idea why ??...
Okay did clean installation of stock rom once again and then restored backup wiht cm 11 (15.04) not (18.04) and now its good. Do you know why it was like that? I just want to mention that I haven't installed anything before it showed up. I just woke up the screen and saw it.

Yea, you are propably right but, when I did clean installation of cm 11 (18.04) I didn't have this problem so...
What I meant was it could have something to do with the CM nightly, since it did not do it on 15 but did it on 18, they couldve tried to add a feature to something only to break something else, you never know with nightlies.
Yea propably yes.

I just had something similar happen today, as of about 4 hours ago, I get that "roaming indicator off" thing.
And now I can no longer call people or send texts.. though my internet connection over LTE was still working.
This happened after I played with the settings indicator panels, not sure if that was the cause but it certainly seems that way, I had never messed with the LTE/Network Type buttons before.
Interestingly not even a restore to yesterday or a restore to 2 weeks ago fixed this issue. Sounds like a bug in the radio firmware maybe?

Yea that is how I ended up fixing it.. I am still surprised that even flashing to a previous backup didn't fix it. I tried flashing just the radio but that didn't make a difference..
Fixed "Roaming Indicator Off"
I'm not very savvy with the inner workings of the radio on my android, but I found a fix for the persistent "Roaming Indicator Off" message where I expected to see "US Cellular".
I downloaded an app called Radio Switcher from the play store. When you open the app, you will see all of the hidden radio settings for your phone. Click on the menu (three vertical dots like this:⁝) and open Select Radio Band. From there I selected "USA Band (GSM-850/PCS-1900/WDCMA-850/WCDMA-PCS-1900) and clicked OK.
That's it. No more annoying "Roaming Indicator Off". I even disabled the app afterward so I don't see it in my app drawer.

I selected the proper radio band, but that didn't fix it for me. At the "Set preferred network type:" drop-down, it was set to "LTE only". Changed to "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)". Fixed me up. Now, a quick note to others who like their phone to have an accent for its voice, as soon as I set my System Language back to English (United Kingdom), it put the radio back to "LTE only". Dunno if that had something to do with it.
*bump*
I'm having similar problems.. Mine is only on Lollipop ROMs. I've tried everything in this thread. Roaming Indicator off in the quick settings and I can't make phone calls. Oddly enough my Kitkat roms are perfectly fine
Can I get some help? ☺
Also I'm on T-Mobile/Metro PCS

This worked for me. Not sure exactly what I did I just remembered changing 'set preffered network type'. Changed it to one of the other LTE I think to the GSM one. Then I went into the nexus 5 network operators and t-mobile showed up so I picked that one. That did the trick now I am able to send texts.
I just had this happen to me right now , I fixed it by going into airplane mode and back off
here my solution

Mobile Data Turned Off Notification

So today my Samsung-SM-G950U had a software update that now doesn't allow you to remove the "Mobile Data Turned Off" notification but instead lets you silence it up to 2 hours. I used to be able to simply restart the phone and it was gone until I used it again and then I would simply restart but this option has been removed. Is there any way to remove it permanently?

AT&T phone, data works, turning off intentionally. I don't have a huge data plan so I turn off the data unless needed. Used to be able to simply restart the phone and the notification that data was off would disappear, now it stays in the notification bar.

did the update jump you from oreo to pie? if it was on pie and was just a security patch, you should be able to roll back within the same bootloader revision to a previous version of pie. www.sammobile.com/firmwares
