So today my Samsung-SM-G950U had a software update that now doesn't allow you to remove the "Mobile Data Turned Off" notification but instead lets you silence it up to 2 hours. I used to be able to simply restart the phone and it was gone until I used it again and then I would simply restart but this option has been removed. Is there any way to remove it permanently?

AT&T phone, data works, turning off intentionally. I don't have a huge data plan so I turn off the data unless needed. Used to be able to simply restart the phone and the notification that data was off would disappear, now it stays in the notification bar.

did the update jump you from oreo to pie? if it was on pie and was just a security patch, you should be able to roll back within the same bootloader revision to a previous version of pie. www.sammobile.com/firmwares

So, i upgraded to Fresh 3.5 which is based off of the OTA 3.70. and now when i keep 4G on and there is no 4G signal around that notification icon sits on the top left corner of the task bar. it's a 4G icon with an exclamation point on it and when you pull the notification bar down it says "4G antenna is ON, tap to scan for 4G service" can someone please find a way to hide this icon. I like to keep 4G turned on all the time and don't want to keep seeing this every time the 4G connection drops. TIA.
I second this!!
We can't be the only two to find this annoying.

Sprint could get all information from user.. note phone is rooted and flag account
No they can't, I'll called them today, no flagging or anything. And remember rooting is not illegal, and they cannot flag your account for doing it. Their saying this is a feature to save battery life. I disagree. My thought is they couldn't figure out how to get the 3G to 4G handoff to happen properly so this is their solution. BTW, I've had nothing but problems with 4G stalling since I've owned the phone so this is still an issue.
For those of you wanting to lose the constant notification. It's in the framework-res.apk You can use Gimp to make it transparent and then push the framework back to your phone. Or you can pull your framework and make your own flashable zip. Then you can keep modifying anytime you want to change something with 7-zip.
It's actually not in framework-res, and making the image transparent keeps the spacing allocated and continues to display the notification text in the "notifications" section of the drop down window.
So, having said that, consider the attached (flash via recovery) EXTREMELY experimental. It "should" remove all the corresponding 4G notifications. What I don't know, is if in doing so, it breaks the ability to automatically reconnect when leaving and re-entering a 4G area. This isn't as easy to remove as icons to the right of the status bar, or even some on the left. This uses android's built-in notifications framework, which requires ongoing services, etc, to report activity on the top left side, and in trying to break its display, it is certainly possible more than just its display has been "broken".
Again, give it a shot and see if it works without any unintended side affects. But, be warned, as mentioned, it may. Just not sure, as I haven't been able to test it enough to verify it works as intended.
Nandroid before flashing so you can restore more easily if it doesn't work as intended.
It flashed just fine, I haven't left my 4G area yet so well see if it effects reconnection. I let everyone know. Now I just need to change the scanning frequency interval back to what it was before because it seems that the interval is longer now, thus they put a button on the notification bar to instantly activate it. Thank you Sir for your help, and a Happy Christmas and Merry New Year to everyone.
After looking at the wimax setting the values that changed are-
Previous- wimax entry delay(s)600
Current- wimax entry delay(s) 300
and
Handoff Threshold
Previous - 0
Current - 6
I changed my handoff back to 0 and well see what happens, and I'll try 3 and report back.
I'm also going to lower entry delay and see what it does to battery life.
The (Previous) settings are taken from a post from July, so who know what there were a few weeks ago.
I can confirm that the .zip file works perfectly. Gets rid of the notification and reconnection works fine. Still playing with the scan settings in regards to battery life.
Finally, back on the forum. Thanks for making this mod. Downloading now and will give it a try.

Cool, thank for the additional confirmation.
Sorry to be so noobish. I just got my first android phone and just (stupidly) applied this update today and I hate how it doesn't reconnect the 4g automatically and makes me rescan. I really wish I could make the 4g how it was before.
My phone is not rooted or anything its just an HTC evo with a white backing right out of the box and updated. What should I do?
I'd be more than happy to donate to the developer of this method just need a little help here please.

You beat me to the same question. While it is trivial to undo, how did you apply in the first place?
I guess it is feasible to extract the apk from the zip, and manually click to install from your sd card, but somehow I doubt this is what was done...
Either way, for future edification, since you would have to know what apk it is, if you installed it this way, why not just download a stock ROM and pull out the same apk and re-apply?
This is what I have done and attached.
I have version 5.0.1 with pattern lock, with the apps Lockwatch & Smart Lockscreen Protector.
But it's useless when anyone can just access the quick settings from the lockscreen and switching off Wifi/Data or turning on airplane mod..
There is any way to block access to this toggles? Or even to the whole Quick Settings?
I can live without access to the flashlight in lockscreen if that a problem..

Wrong section bro, post in Q&A, by the way, why would you bother someone disconnecting your wifi and Bluetooth, they can't turn on 4g and all that things which cost money in monthly plan.
One scenario comes in mind. When you lose your phone and want to use device manager to find the phone. If someone stole your phone, can easily put it in airplane mode so you can't locate it
Wonder why Google can miss this. Just like screen still turn on when on pocket with ambient display ON.
If you unlocked, you can try Cataclysm or N5X. Both has option to disabled it. Hope this help.
Slimlp also has this. Stock, no
Im unlocked, but "clean" rooted (stock rom+recovery+kernel with cf-auto root).
Since google added SELinux at enfoce mod by default in Lollipop (which avoids OTA installing at any state of Root), i'm considring to install a custom room.
But if to be honest, I really don't want to (I hate to mess around with all that thanks the crappy Galaxy S3 I had.. I bought the Nexus 5 in thought I could stay with stock+OTA and enjoy "clean" root+Xposed.. Apparently Google had other plans )
So if someone have an idea to avoid access to wifi/data/aiplane mod toggles from lockscreen, I will be happy to hear.

Anyone can press the power button on your phone too.
Quick access to the radios is useful.
Until 4.2/4.2.2 anyone could just connect a cable to your phone and use ADB to pull everything off.
Don't give your phone to strangers or place in unsafe places.

None of this is possible with a locked screen. Accessing the radios on a locked screen can prevent you tracking it. Sure, like you say, it can be turned off not another issue is accessing the guest account and installing malicious apps and making calls. Bit of a security hole if you ask me.

Not with a recovery lock and locked bootloader. At least my data is safe. Whats wrong with wanting a safe phone? Why have a lock at all if it can be semi-bypassed by quick settings.
You're right though, would be nice of TWRP also had recovery lock. At least we still have philz for now.
But yeah, I can get YOUR data no matter what you do, even after factory reset, but doesn't mean everyone can.
Its kind of like say "dont bother locking your doors because we can break your windows". We all still lock our doors.
I also think that this is a very serious issue.
When I lock my phone I want it to be locked completely not partially.
Have anyone figured how to disable quick access on locked screen (locked with password, pin or pattern)?
And also to remove camera icon?
The only thing i want on my lock screen is to enter my password and see notifications (this is something I am able to do alredy =))
Thank you!
I am hoping on an xposed module

The 'Quick settings' menu can be edited - when the phone is unlocked open quick settings panel and tap and hold any of its icons, you will be allowed to remove or add some functionalities. Just remove 'airplane mode' and 'mobile data'. This way when the phone is locked no one can disable its connectivity.
The drawback is that you can't switch the airplane mode easily even when the phone is unlocked.
My last phone you couldn't turn off, reboot, or change network settings while the phone is locked. This is a very useful feature as if your phone "walks away" tracking cannot be disabled so as long as your battery is not dead you have full tracking abilities.
I did notice this feature seems to work with GPS. If you try to toggle, it will prompt for a password but that alone isn't enough to track it. I need to lock mobile data as well. I could probly just remove it from my notification tray but that is an inconvenience as I do use that toggle.
Any Ideas?

Not all devices have added those as all it takes to beat them is removing the sim card and all android devices will reboot if the power button is held for an extended time.
Well I thought about the reboot and it will boot back up so I didn't see that as a problem. Didn't think about the sim card though. Well lets just hope if someone gets a hold of my phone they won't think about it either. Anything I can do to make it harder is still worth it.
Oh well. If someone has a way to make this happen please share. I don't even know if its something I can make happen with an app or by editing anything in the android system. I will keep looking in the mean time.

I can tell you that there are 3 steps when a device is stolen and the first one is remove the battery and the second is remove the sim card so no one can call it. the 3rd step is resetting it.
You will need a custom rom to get those options.
If you care about security too much, I would say never unlock your bootloader.
Its so easy to keep pressing the power button and reboot to bootloader and flash stuff to access your memory (With unlocked bootloader of course)
But with locked BL, they have to erase the storage in order to unlock it and do stuff. So, if security is a big concern to you, its good to always keep it locked.

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.
Sometimes I don't get a notification of an incoming text message until several minutes after it was sent. I'm totally stock and I have disabled adaptive battery and I gave unrestricted battery usage to the messages app. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?
Do u maybe have doze/aggressive doze options in any apps u have? Maybe wifi/mobile connection disabled at screen off/lock option somewhere? Anything like that in general? Provider/connectivity issues recently? Poor signal issues at all? R u rooted running stock or non-rooted? Is it just recently? Installed any 'new' appz at all? Lotsa possibilities...gotta go thru and try n tick 'em off one at a time...a bit of detective work should give u a suspect...hopefully.

As I said, the phone is totally stock. The wifi and mobile is on. I think the signal strength is fine and I don't think it is a provider issue. I don't understand what you mean about the doze option in apps. I've never heard of that - what kind of app would have those options? I think it has happened since I've had the phone, but it is hard to say since it only happens sometimes and it took me a while to notice it as a pattern. I don't get a lot of texts typically and if I get a text, I don't always notice that it has been delayed. I think that it might happen most with the first text I get in a day.
'Doze' is a low power mode that android goes into after a few hrs. with no activity or screen wakeup. But if ur not rooted then I think it requires ADB to allow perms...if u did, you'd know it...lol
If there's no 'suspect' apps installed then the next step of uninstalling 1 app at a time until there no more occurrences may not be feasible. Only other option I can think of sux...a factory reset with wipe then add ur apps one at a time etc...
