[Q] My Infinity Won't Turn On - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi,
Yesterday I was playing with my TF700T, and then it turned off because of the empty battery. Then I plugged the power adapter in, after the GREEN light appeared, I tried to turn it on, but even no vibration.
I've done everything. From charging via PC USB to holding down VOL keys with power about minute. No success.
What should I do? I'm so sad.
Thank you

Leave it on the charger for 12 hours. If that doesn't help, take it off charger and leave for another 48 hours. We've had a number of people where just leaving it solved the issues. If it still doesn't vibrate I'd start worrying then. Also try HDMI output - maybe the screen died.

Thank you for the reply.
ok sure, I will do the 48 hours charging.

Yes try the usb charge as mentioned by sbdags. But just so I let you know, I've had a similar problem a few weeks back, and the motherboard was just dead according to the replaced parts after the RMA. Check my topic if you want to check if it's the exact same problem. Could be the battery also, a user reported in my topic. Hope it's nothing too bad and your tablet will recover! Fingers crossed.:highfive:

Sure, here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579882
I read charging via USB for a long time (~12hours) worked for some users (according to different posts on various forums). Didn't work work for me though. And yeah as I understand it, you can try plugging it for 12hours via usb. Personnaly, I first tried with the wall adapter, then only with USB on a pc for a little more than 12 hours. Oh and if you are still covered by the 1 year Asus warranty and unlocked, I guess a dead motherboard could help to get a RMA for free. At least it did for me (I'm european and had to send it to the Czech Republic). Anyway check my topic if you want more details about my case.

I don't know if you have tried it or not, but have you reflashed the ROM? I had this problem with Prime! 1.6 last night, then flashed Prime! 1.7 beta without wiping and all is good now. The other problem I had besides the device not charging was the plug was getting really hot.
Hope this helps.
yes i reflashed the rom right before it died..
Since the computer was recognizing the device when it was plugged in, it should be receiving a charge at the same time. Have you left it plugged into the computer to see if it would charge that way?
I am just throwing ideas out there to hopefully get you back up and running.
I'm not nuts
Put your power brick in a zippy bag and put in the freezer for about an hour. It's suppose to reset something stuck inside. It does work sometimes. Good luck

I was just reading the same thing on the transformer forums.
Two other ideas I found:
1. On the WALL PLUG, take off the part that plugs in to the wall (for me it is a USA version).
Then, slightly bend the 2 prongs AWAY from each other. This will ensure a good connection. Worked like a charm!
2. An alternative, e.g. if past replacement date, is to use a Dynex DX-UA Universal charger with your Asus cable. They are $30 at stores like BestBuy or $8 or less on ebay. This includes a female USB plug for your Asus cable and provides 11v, which is slower than using the original adapter 15v, but it works.
great...you cursed me...it was charging...I click your link and read the post...and now mine is not charging.
I sh*t you not.
I also had this problem when my battery was totally drained. When I plugged it in to charge got no orange light so what I did was to trickle charge the asus buy plugging it in via the usb in the computer 6 hours later I got the orange light so I then swapped to the mains charger and charged as normal.
Give that a go

I just ran to office depot...got a new charger and it worked. I guess it has nothing to do with the tablet and moreso the charger. I also stuck my old one in the office freezer (which isn't that cold).
Hopefully it works so I can have one at the office and one at home.
Still waiting in the UK for a charger and cable. :-(

I just transferred a lot of music to the Micro SD card plugged into the dock instead of the tablet and now mine stopped working..something with the charger or cable ....I had got another spare charger the other day...plugged it in and it works .....wierd ....more to follow when charged up later maybe I'll try the freezer trick
If the computer is recognizing the tablet, there is nothing wrong with the cable. It would either be the charger itself or the tablet, but from what I have been reading the charger sounds like its pretty cheap.

Just an FYI, the sparse documentation that came with my tablet said that it would not charge when the screen was on, when plugged into a computer USB.
The first day I got mine, I was worried about the Drain of Death but also heard that people were having trouble after letting the battery charge over night. (Basically I didn't want to sneeze too loud next to this thing after reading the forums ) So when it hit 10% battery I plugged it into my PC and let the thing sleep over night. When I woke up it had only changed to about 38%. All that to say, charging over USB is not ideal in any situation and it truly brings new meaning to "a watched pot never boils"!
+1 for the freezer trick here also.
Stopped charging from the socket and whacking the power unit in the freezer did the trick, I also shut down in between.

Yeah i was really surprised too.
Too bad I ran to Office Depot and bought a replacement while it was in the freezer. Now I have two chagers...one more than I really need (it cost $30!). On the positive side, I have a charger at work and one at home now...not that I really need it because the battery life on this thing is great.

TF700 won't start up, DOA? Please help.

So, received my TF700T in the post today. Got all excited, went to start it up, and nothing....
Has been on charge for 3 hours now, and I still get nothing when trying to start it up.
The orange light near the power button is on, indicating the battery is charging, but no matter what I do, whether I hold the volume down with power, hold both volume buttons and power, it won't start up / boot.
The strange thing is, when I first tried to start it up, it wouldn't load, so I plugged it into power, and I got the ASUS post screen, then it turned off almost immediately (I presume as it had insufficient power). Since then, I have not even been able to get the ASUS post screen. If I hold the power button for 10 seconds, it will vibrate after 10 seconds, then nothing happens.
I have tried all the volume + power buttons described above, as well as trying to reset button.
Is the tablet DOA? Any suggestions for ways I might be able to get it started?
Try putting a pin in the pin hole above the HDMI.

Tried this already, and just tried again now. Nothing!
Its weird that if I hold the power button in for at least 10 seconds, at about the 10 second mark, the tablet vibrates, but nothing happens.
The charger light is now green on the tablet, and still nothing. Has been on charge for 5.5 hours now.
Unfortunately, It sounds like a DOA. It happens. Good to know now then 6 months down the road.

Exchange it.
Haha, good old DOA. Mine took 6 weeks and the store gave up and just gave me store credit.
Return it!
I had exactly the same: on first boot it turned off after splash logo and I needed to use reset button to restart again.
long pressing just makes it vibrate but nothing more
And when it started, it crashed and rebooted all the time. Sometimes it went black and I had to reset it again
My replacement works perfectly, so yes it's a semy-DOA

JB have the Infinity in stock now, so you can use your JB voucher towards that if you wanted
Thanks for the replies all, I'll send it off this morning and update once I hear back from the seller (the joys of international dealings).
Mine bricked with the same exact symptoms after a week. Worked flawlessly up to that point. Waiting on the replacement to ship...

hi,
I was gonna open a new thread since my problem is based on charging but this thread pretty much is for the same use.
I got my tf700t yesterday through a friend visit from US. It has been nearly 2 weeks since he got it and he never charged the tab since he wasn't much of a user. So yesterday he brought it to me (i'm in TURKEY btw) and the tab was working pretty properly. But it's charge was near %4 so i plugged it on to its dock and plugged the usb charger to the dock via my PC. I just saw on the tabs screen that its charging so i left it there for like 12 hrs since it was its first charge. Then after nearly 12 hrs later this morning, i disconnected the charger and saw that the tab was off. I tried to turn it on but just like cjhod1 says, I got the ASUS post screen, then it turned off almost immediately. Different then cjhod1's case, no matter i plug on the charger or not my battery led near the power button is off for all times. So i guess this means it doesnt charge at all which was operating properly 12 hrs ago.
Strangest thing is my dock doesnt charge either. I tried every possible combination but couldn't manage to get it done. Even more strangely, after a one hour charging with nothing indicating it's actually charging (the orange battery led is off for all times) it managed to get a %1 of battery charge and opened. It managed to stay on for 10 seconds and then shut down once more for all.
It seems like a battery problem but what are the odds to lose both dock's and the tab's battery after one charge. And now that i'm in Turkey, and as far as i know, asus doesn't provide an international gurantee but only for US, i can't seem to get any service here. Unless any solutions to this matter occurs, i will have to ship it to the seller that i got from the Amazon. Every suggestions or helps appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The tablet CANNOT be charged via a USB port! Use the specific charger that came with the tablet. This will deliver the necessary 15V to the system to allow it to charge.

then how come i managed to charge it the first time i plugged it to the PC? And even if so, that is not any handy at all. I will have to carry not only the usb cable but also the adapter with me for all times to be able to charge the tablet. That is not an issue for ipad as far as i know.

It's not a big deal. It charges to full within 2 to 3 hours. Put the darn usb and adapter in your bag pack along with your tablet. It's not like it's a size of a water bottle or something. Charging through the usb is not ideal since it trickle charges and will take forever. Charge it through normal means first and see if it can hold a charge through your everyday use. If it does then your good to go. Then try charging again through pc. Honestly with the tablet keyboard combo you won't have to worry about not having enough battery life to last you the whole day regardless of what you use it for.

Hi Bezendra, did you get it to work? I have the same problem. I'm in Vietnam, and whilst the tablet charges just fine, the dock seems totally Dead on Arrival and doesn't charge (no light, nothing). Warranty isn't really an option here so I need to troubleshoot this exhaustively before giving up. Did you discover the problem?
Speculation: I remember a friend who visited here once, and their externally powered USB hard drive didn't work in certain houses. I think it depended on the type of voltage regulator in the house. Did you discover anything similar?

Moto G won't power on or charge.

My friend just got the Moto G, he opened the box and plugged it in. After about 10 minutes he came back and noticed that there was no charging light or any indication that the phone was charging. I have tried it on numerous different cables and chargers yet still nothing. Any suggestions or should I just advise and RMA because of DOA? I do have access to the phone if anyone has ideas.
[Edit: The phone is locked to Tesco mobile, this shouldn't make a difference should it?]
Edit 2: The problem was solved by leaving the phone for a day and plugging it in the next day.
I think you need to install the drivers for the phone before it will charge. Some leads won't work, stick with the official one.
The phone should charge from a wall charger though should it not?

Of course. I use my old HTC wall charger with my Moto G all the time. What's the maximum current output of the wall charger you're using? I've read that the Moto G requires at least 500mA and can draw up to 1500mA (after which it's limited to this value).
Yeah that's what I thought. I've tried his phone on my kindle and HTC charger (1 & 1.2amp), still nothing.

Sounds like it's a brick. I reckon your friend should return it and get another (it's worth it - it's such a great phone!)
Have you tried on the USB computers port? Btw the charger for this phone should be as powerful as 750Mah 5,1V 0,20A.

Try charge it from wallcharger first (any micro USB charger will do). But any phone should have at least 20% of battery...
RMA time.

Hey I'm sorry to hear that, I spoke to my friend again and he said all he did was leave the phone for about a day then plugged it in again. He did mention something about wriggling the connector around in the phone socket so it may have been loose power connections.

It seems, you shouldn't let the Moto G power off itself... Waiting now
[edit]
Put it in the fridge for 15 mins, this worked
Note that I tested three wall chargers, one 850mAh from Motorola, one 1Ah and one 2Ah from Samsung. The only one which booted up the Moto G was the 1Ah from Sammy.
Just return it to tesco they either swap it or send it to anovo for swap/repair

Tried it yesterday, didn't work.
This afternoon, I just tried to plug it into the mains with one charger and the light flickered for a second. And would then flicker if I held the power button for around 5 seconds at a time. Using a different charger had the light steady for a few minutes before the phone showed a battery with 0% charging. Fully working now though.
I would take it back anyone might be faulty battery sensor

[Q] TF101 original Charger Burned tablet

Hi guys,
This is my first post! in this great forum!
CASE:
I have a TF101, one day i broke part of the USB cable, and obviosuly it stoped charging.
So i went to amazon and order 2 USB cables (amazon from navitech)! one to use with my desktop and one for charging and stuff.
Wehn they arrived home i tested them and i was GREAT:victory: so i went to bed start playing around with it and let it charged until the next day, and i was also downloading a game and a torrent.
When i woke up... the charger was smelling burned and the tablet was not showing nothing...
My first though was: ok the charged burned so the tablet must be OK and it has no battery bc what i left him doing drained to the last bit
when i went to test it didn't charged off course so i order a new charger (ebay 15v) what made me worry now... is that with this new charger it doesnt show nothign not even that battery sign with the little part in red...
Any positive thoughts? :crying:
any help ?
Sorry to hear that. I suppose you already tried the easy things... keeping power pressed for at least 10 s, using the cable to connect the tablet to a PC and seeing if it is recognized as a device and those.
I hope you can solve it.

Yeah i did im really considering to go to store to check if the repair is expensive or not but:
keeping power pressed for at least 10 s = Did nothing
using the cable to connect the tablet to a PC = doesnt charge and dont recognized
I guess its a bad sign nobod has any ideas how to solve this...
I'll post a reply after i go to the store.

Razr HD won't work after long time of disuse

Hi, all.
I dragged an old RAZR HD with a cracked screen out of the cupboard this morning, and wondered if I could get it going again. Attempted to power it on, however I doubted anything would be in the battery.
I was right.
I have long lost the original cable and power plug for the device, however I plugged it into a new Motorola turbocharger with a factory Motorola cable and let it sit for a few hours.
When id first plugged it in, the device's LED went green, and I took that as a sign of it working, so I let it so it's thing.
I came back to it after a few hours, unplugged it, and attempted to power on. Still nothing, so I plugged it back in, reasoning that it had been flat for some time and probably need a fair while on the charger.
About 20 minutes ago, I attempted again, this time feeling 5 short vibrations in quick succession, and nothing else.
I plugged it into the charger, and tried again. Nothing.
Tried again: 8 vibrations.
Tried a third time with the volume down button pressed as well. 10 vibrations this time.
Tried one last time with the volume up button, and got another 10 vibrations.
I'm not terribly concerned, as this device hasn't been used in a few years and wont ever be a daily driver again, but I'd like to get it running if possible. I don't understand what these vibrations mean, and can't find any information on then, so if anyone has experienced this or knows what these vibrations are, is love to hear about it.
Thanks

Thanks

It could just be the battery. If you had a fastboot cable then you could just boot it with that and if it booted then you would know its just the battery. If it didn't boot then you would know you are haveing some problems. I got mine some time back on amazon for 10 bucks. Most of the time its just the battery. Only a few times was it something else.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have heard of fastboot cables before. I believe I read somewhere else on XDA that people make them out of old micro USB data cables. Am I thinking of the right thing?
Edit: I found a post on droidforums that shows this in detail, and how to make one: http://www.droidforums.net/threads/how-why-to-make-your-own-motorola-factory-cable.146492/

Yes or you could by one. Its not really a fastboot cable without the resistor. The resistor is so you don't mess up the devices. e.g. Your android or your computer. Some people just like to take chances. I got mine for 10 dollars on amazon. I think you can get on eBay to.
