The War with Google has begun

We were lucky.
Google's security measures were pathetic and still are, but now, it has come to their attention that the security measures pose more of a problem than before. Google is attempted to block ADP users from having access to the market due to their potential to download any app for free.
Now, it has come to their attention that RC33 root users have the same ability. Security is now a top priority when it comes to google. They already have cupcake ready to go, that's done.
Google's probably realized by now that their security measures are simply pathetic. We're going to have to step up our game as they step up theirs.

What's the error you're getting? I'm getting that to visit checkout.google.com to fix the problem.
EDIT: That only happens with one app... ? Umm, do you have proof that they are blocking ADP users?

you're lucky. they probably filter ip's too. i can't even list paid apps.. (not from US)

Honestly how hard could it be to encrypt an app and get a certificate update for the premium apps you purchased to decrypt them every time your phone syncs with Google?

Root is google's problem right now.
No matter what they do with the premium apps, they can be cracked by root users.
Buy the app, pull the .zip, crack it. Refund the app. Throw it back in the phone and install.
End of story.
Google needs to eliminate root. We have the advantage of course.
We already have root, and we are hacking which is much easier than defending.
Google knows this, which is apparent from their android forums.

It's easier for google to tie the app to user's gmail account. So the app will only run if it's on a "I purcheased this" list... harder to crack if they add a file signature on top of that.

It's not paid apps. ADPs can't see protected apps on the market.

Seems to be more of a bug in the protection option rather than some thing google's doing to ban the sales of apps to adp customers.. there's a few related posts on the google groups site..

Bettercut is a popular protected app. Can you see it? (if you have a rooted rc33 and you're in the US you should see it)

Its Google's own fault that we all have root.....they made one mistake...then we hacked it and exploited it to a extreme extent.
Rooted phones only take updates signed with test keys right...
So couldn't Google sign one of there O.T.A. updates with test keys and get rid of out root?

Well, they could but then how would they explain it to users without rooted phones who's phones were keep on rebooting and failing to install the test-key signed updates due to the method that Google can use to force the OTA updates?
And what about the users with ADP's? I'm pretty sure that Google wouldn't want to piss them off by forcing them to install a root-less regular update.

there is no such thing as a crack-proof app. Every app can be cracked if you have the right skills. As soon as paid apps get going there will be loads of places online offering app downloads, just wait and see.

do you have some sort of incredible inside information that no one else knows about?
how do you know 'cupcake' is done and ready to go? last i heard they were no where near completion.

Most of the paid apps are a joke anyways. I bet I could make a program called Dont buy this app! and sell it for a buck and still sell a **** ton of them.

Please, I think your being a bit over dramatic here, Google can't take actions too far because it would really kill the whole point of android being an open source, for developers phone.
While sure they can always up the security, but theres always going to be a way inside the program unless they wanted to lock down making and installing new apps. If they wanted that they wouldn't add an option to install thirdy party apps.

This looks to be a problem with developers and a feature they are trying to implement but failing. If you have an issue please contact the developer of the app.

Help: Is a New Cubot X6 image available? System is compromised!

I would like to ask for help installing either a new Cubot X6 Android or a linux based system. Until recently I wasn't aware of what kind of aggressive trojans for Android happen to compromise a phone to a degree where the solution is to buy a new one. I do not want to accept that. Therefor I am here to ask for help.
WLAN enabled - the phone runs nutts. It causes unknown apps to be installed, ruining the function of the phone completely. I bought it via ebay, a used Cubot X6. I had the device years ago until i sat on it which happened to break the display, but I liked it and bought it again, used. (The used one cost 60 bucks, a replace-display would have cost 35, so I ran with the used one - big mistake as it turned out).
Now, it's root-system is compromised. I set it to only allow apps from trusted sources. I did not download any apps beside well known trust-worthy ones, like google-maps, WhatsApp, all together.
When I first enabled WLAN, it suddenly started to display a message of the shutting down of "org.rain.ball.update" and also "ssCleaner ("suc", "chengele") is trying to obtain your current position", "ymm" cancelled, and several others. If I allow WLAN it automatically downloads 10-20 apps, some of which correlate with my laptop visited websites (alibaba), others apps from sites I have never visited ("sexy videos"). Basically the phone gets so busy that it needs to be restarted to allow any control of the phone.
I tried to fix it with Avaast, Avira, and Malewarebytes without success. With Avaast it also displays: "/storage/sdcard0/.androidsdata/is.jar", but is unable to fix it. I guess I would have to erase the SD-Card too, if I were to have the system replaced, once. None of the above things can be fixed with the tools at hand. The deletions are always interrupted, nothing gets improved permanently.
I immediately did a "Reset to factory condition", but when I enabled WLAN I didn't even install an app - it all started again, as described above.
So, a quick Google-Research turned out, there are trojan-horses, that cover themselves by pretending to be system applications, so that it would be nearly impossible to get rid of the trojan - only solution: buy a new one (See this article wwwDOTblog.lookout.com/blog/2015/11/04/trojanized-adware/).
Now, while I have a broken device and a trojan device, one solution would be to mount the display of the compromised one onto the broken one. I know it's easy to break the display during this. That's why I am here to ask, if someone might have suggestions of what else could be done to have this fixed?
Maybe it would be possible to get an uncompromised mirror-image of a Cubot X6 from the internet that would replace every data on mine? Would it fix it, if I were to install this: "Ubuntu Touch - Version 15.04 Phone"?
Any help would be appreciated. If I were to take a wild guess, I'ld say the trojan horses might have been developed by Apple...... So what am I to do now? Buy a new one?
EDIT: If you were to not believe this to be true, I could shoot a video of it with my laptop. It's really strange, but it is as it is. EDIT 2: Avaast displays a message, the phone has been rooted.

Do a search for your rom and instructions on how to flash. It will replace system partition and problem should then be gone.

A google search for "cubot x6 firmware" will give you some good results.

Not sure about a custom recovery, but Samsung has posted the required files to build the source if you want to make a custom ROM.

I suggest you read it again in a casual tone, not the one you used to troll me.
By the way, not every developer fills out the form for a title. It's pretty ignorant to assume someone isn't one because they asked if anyone else had released anything.

Hm... maybe to second the initial request as I understand it, even if it is too early at the moment since the device is merely two months in the market and from what little I understand building e.g. LOS for a new device is a lot of hard work: I am also looking forward (edit: which IMHO includes actively supporting the developer) to see someone more capable of this kind of voodoo than me release a custom ROM for this device before official support will be over
This thing here is the first Android mobile since the Sony XZ1 Compact that I deem "officially trouser pocket compatible" and with a price tag that might become okay for the average user

If you have a USA variant (snapdragon) then I'd suggest not getting your hopes up. Thanks to Verizon (even if they aren't your carrier) the US versions of Samsung phones since the note 8 (I think) haven't been able to be rooted.

Yes, I learned this as well when I browsed through the Z Flip 3 section. Even if I don't know the details why it is like that, I think it's really weird that they managed to achieve such crap at all.
Thankfully I live in Germany and have the european version. I would not have bought this phone if I would have found any clue that you might be unable to unlock the bootloader. Been inside the golden cage with the bitten apple, got away, don't want to turn back

Turning back sucks lol. I always had rooted phones. It started with the HTC G1 the first android phone. I stuck with Google phones (Nexus 1 through the Pixel XL) or HTC phones like the HTC One M8.
Then I got a note 9 and soon after found out there was no root method for the snapdragon version. Then for some stupid reason I did it again and bought the note 10+...and again with the z Flip3 lol.
Next time I'm making sure I can root before I buy. Thankfully I can use Adguard (website version not store version) and package disabler to block ads, analytics etc at a system level, plus it can act as a firewall.
Then I'll use package disabler to truly disable the bloat and spyware. I wish I could just uninstall it but this is better than nothing.
One thing I really miss is custom roms and Kernel's. I'd love to be able to get rid of Samsung's horrible battery management system. It kills apps that it shouldn't including the alarm clock. Plus Samsung's apps are all pretty much terrible...sigh

Whoa. My first Android was the Xperia XZ1 Compact since I finally decided to kick Apple out now when the first informations about iOS 11 got available. That one served me well, rooted and running Lineage from day one (and still does, big thanks @Flamefire), but the battery has degraded noticeably and Sony obviously built that phone starting with the battery as component no.1 which makes replacing it a royal PITA, which is why I searched for a new pocket compatible daily driver. So here I am...
I see your phone is more or less in the state mine is currently. I had it rooted initially but reset it and decided to try out NetGuard and ADB AppControl and see how far that gets me while keeping the OTA update alive as long as there is no custom ROM available.
Edit: with that nifty guide from @doggydog2 rooting might become more interesting again however, even without a custom ROM. Will need to dig through that one on of the next weekends...

I'm gonna check out adb appcontrol and see if it has any extra features over package disabler. I used to have an app like package disabler that would let me go into an apps services and receivers. Then I could disable specific parts of apps. It was fantastic but I can't remember it's name lol.
I have tried netguard and it's not bad but I definitely like Adguard better. It's better designed, works better, has more features etc... But it's not free. I think I paid $35 for 3 lifetime phone licenses during a sale. I also use Adguard on Windows now instead of adblocking extensions. I didn't pay for that one though, I signed up for a beta key, got one and then I just renew it every year.

No problem with "not free". I usually donate to the developers of my software unless they say they don't want (yes, this happens as well) - either by buying the enhanced version or by simply sending a donation every now and then, such as for every new released patch level of LOS or so.

Adguard does have DNS blocking options but it's so much more than that. I'm not sure if there is a free trial period but if there is definitely check it out, I think you will find it really nice. Also anytime you find any kind of issue whether it's a missed overlay on a website or a gap where the ad was you can report it through the app and it's usually fixed in a couple hours. Their response time is insane.
The adblocking options are extensive. It includes all the same filters in ublock origin and then some. You can also disable filters you don't want, make custom filters for literally anything. For example I made a filter that would remove search results for just polygon.com from Google. It also supports custom scripts like the greasemonkey extension.
The firewall aspect is like a genuine firewall. You can fully block an app from net access or set it so it can only use wifi or cell signal or both. There is also a log of every connection (incoming/outgoing) that tells you what app or service is trying to do something and what it's trying to connect to. You can click on an entry in the log and automatically block or whitelist it.
You can even block Google analytics and telemetry for Android itself which is fantastic because they collect tons of info..
In just the last 30 days Adguard has saved me 11.79 gigs of data, blocked 362,763 ads, 17,092 trackers and 2 threats. That's from Android, apps and browsers.
i know I sound like a salesman lol but I genuinely love this app and it has so many options and features that it can do pretty much everything a fully loaded (with necessary extensions) desktop browser can do.
They also have a free vpn that works with the app if you want another layer of privacy and protection.

Hm... Lets compare.... I use my compiled Pi-Hole list (which includes the AdBlock lists and some others btw) for NetGuard as well, so this is covered for me, even if not as comfortable when it comes to whitelisting for just one given domain (never needed that option until now though, but something to keep in mind)

That seems pretty standard for an ad blocker. The question is: can I selectively block or allow a given connection (i.e. URL or IP address) for one single app as I can do with Netguard?

I translate this to "can block system apps". That's the case for Netguard as well.

I think that saved amount of data is more than I use at home and mobile in total in the same time
But yes, I use Pi-Hole at home and for any mobile device that uses my VPN, and its shows an awful lot of connections being blocked, so the basic savings should be the same. Additionally, each browser has its own uBlock Origin instance and some other plugins e.g. to block Youtube ads. Using a computer that does not have this is outright painful.

That might explain why you get such fast response times in case of issues
Something else, apart from the question above: Can Adguard apply all its filters and then use my private WireGuard VPN Server (not some 3rd party VPN service!) on Android as its only way out into the internet? That is the one obvious downside of not having root at the moment - since Android allows only one VPN being active and Netguard does not interface the WireGuard App, I can only use either my VPN or NetGuard, not both at once as I could with AfWall+ and WireGuard.

Just to add my bucket - I will buy this phone as soon as bootloader unlock, root and custom roms are confirmed (an a working gcam mod). I simply can't imagine using the phone without the benefits of it. I really hope this phone gets support.

The first two are done as long as you buy the european SM-F711B and not that crippled US version (model no. SM-F711U if I am not mistaken). That leaves a ROM (and the GCam mod you mentioned, but I have to admit I have no clue what that one is about). Let's see what the future brings.
Oh, one more thing: I hereby confirm I would happily contribute significantly to a donation for a developer who in turn wants to take the task of creating and maintaining a custom ROM for this phone that supports the outer display and the flip open/close phone function (maybe LOS or Havoc?) but needs money to buy the phone.

Question FRP Lock on A22 5G

Hi folks,
a family friend inherited an A22 from a deceased friend, but she did not have the password for it.
As I had never heard of FRP before, I advised her to reset the phone, which is how the FRP took effect. I now feel guilty for giving obviously wrong advice and would like to fix it.
I guess there is no proof of purchase for the phone anymore and all the passwords from the documents didn't work. A Vodafone employee advised me to scrap the phone, but I don't think so.
I found the software "**** your FRP" here in the forum and tried it, but the A22 is not on the list of Knox-compatible devices. Therefore, the code #*0#* does not work either and I can't get any further.
I got a little further with the talkback function. I was able to open the Google Assistant and navigate to Chrome or the settings. Unfortunately, I could not activate the developer options, couldn't navigate to the app settings or allow the installation of apps from unknown sources.
After about 8 hours and several attempts, I am at my wit's end. I have the deceased's email address and name. Unfortunately, this was not enough to reset the password. If I am informed correctly, his number has also been deactivated, so I can no longer receive SMS. I don't have the SIM card either, but I might be able to get it.
I hope you guys can help me.

You could so it yourself, but the time needed will be too much

As I said, the people at Vodafone said you can only scrap it. I had read that you can get the device unlocked with the help of the proof of purchase, but no one knows exactly where the receipt could be.

I'm not in a hurry, I'm just looking for a tool to do this with, or instructions on how to bypass the FRP.
I can forget Google, as 99% of the results are scam and the remaining 1% did not work.

Ive heard that YouTube has just the right type of guide for almost exactly those probs, and by all accounts very very simple to follow, as I did recently on my sister's device she left at home, no longer wanted, ditched for an apple contraption. I will add, no one with nefarious reasons, stolen devices should use the helpful tools there. Getting a job and buying a device the bloody deviants should....damn the swines.

The problem with YouTube videos is that Samsung (and pretty much every other major manufacturer) has teams of employees whose sole job is to look through the internet for how-to videos and posts, make a note of how the trick/bypass works, and submit it to the software development team to be fixed in the very next update. That's why the how-to videos are full of comments saying "this didn't work for me" or "I don't have that option on my device".
There's a professional 3rd party business that I've used for things like this before. Discussion of paid services isn't allowed in the forums, but anyone who wants a recommendation can DM me

I completely agree mate, it's hit and miss, there are plenty of other sources out there. Just coincidentally, I found myself reading a comment that was the exact situation I was in yesterday. Obviously, not wanting the member to be struggling I gently nudged him towards a simple and 100% idiot's guide that will put him right. Admittedly a large majority of these things are countered/blocked or absolute bollox as I have encountered many times lmfao

I got a little further with the talkback function. I was able to open the Google Assistant and navigate to Chrome or the settings. Unfortunately, I could not activate the developer options, couldn't navigate to the app settings or allow the installation of apps from unknown sources.
After about 8 hours and several attempts, I am at my wit's end. I have the deceased's email address and name. Unfortunately, this was not enough to reset the password. If I am informed correctly, his number has also been deactivated, so I can no longer receive SMS. I don't have the SIM card either, but I might be able to get it.
I hope you guys can help me.

Also mate, getting to chrome is most of it done. 4 files to download, 2 through the galaxy store which allows them to install, then through those, sorry, plus ios14 launcher allows you to activate unknown sources etc..it's not difficult. Worked like a charm. Just find the Samsung a22 5g frp unlock, activate unknown sources how to.

Unreasonable Expectations?

I've been struggling for several years, more off than on, with successfully rooting a phone. Bought two inexpensive Moto phones with full acceptance of me screwing up and ending with 2 bricks. So far, I've accomplished getting TWRP on one (XT-1925-6 ali) and apparently this device is so old that no custom OS exists. The second device ( XT2117-4 borneo) is newer but locating a reliable TWRP has been mildly frustrating but not yet giving up.
It occurred to me this morning (would have been nice a few years ago) that my expectations for a rooted phone may be unreasonable. So, here is what I was/am hoping for a result in rooting a phone.
1- freedom from Google surveillance & tracking activity .
2- usable phone service with a carrier & Internet capable (WiFi & data) browser
3- The only must have apps are: Proton VPN, Proton Mail, Bitwarden, Aegis or other non-Google OTP
4- I use few apps and most are not Play Store based. I currently use no Play Store apps but was told that
some custom OS packages include Play Store clones that don't have surveillance. ?
I would appreciate one of the resident experts commenting on my wishes. I don't mind burning the hours to get to my goal but can use the time profitably in other arenas if it isn't feasible.

PS- for those with a broad streak of curiosity- I'm a long retired mechanical engineer with experience in PC's going back to the IBM 5100 but starting from scratch in the Android world. Cancer came calling 7 years ago and suddenly I had lots of time but then maybe not so much. This explains the more off than on.

I have a borneo too. While I've hacked other devices extensively I haven't been motivated to do much with this one.
I don't do much with TWRP, usually preferring to just patch the stock recovery for rooted, permissive ADB.
With EDL you can easily pull boot or recovery images. Yeah, there are some of these on the internet. I prefer to see what's actually on my device.
Unfortunately, the only Firehose loaders for EDL that I can find have this Lenovo/Motorola "range restricted" where you can't just dump everything.
So, in the meantime, I work on other projects.

Don't know how well they work as I have not tried them. But there are a bunch linked at https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/moto-g6-roms-kernels-recoveries-other-develop.7639/ , some with, or most do not include gapps.

Again I have not tried these roms so don't know the details of their contents. But this one is simple enough to get similar results even on whatever you are running now. Just install Aurora Store from here: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.aurora.store/
Some roms include this instead of play store, maybe some on the above linked page might include it too.
